The 7th gates open at 4.
The rodeo starts at 8 at theDiamond S Arena.
So the youth rodeo starts at 5.
Cowgirls Triathlon, shoot, dogging, ranch, bronc riding all
the things that you expect outof a top-notch rodeo.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Richard, you as a ranch bronc rider, I'm
envisioning it.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
We need to look into that it sounds like a hospital
bill waiting to happen.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Our friends at Piedmont Healthcare should enjoy
that.

Speaker 3 (06:23):
I'm on a first-name basis at the urgent care.
So that's between me and one ofmy children.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
So I'm excited that we're going to be welcoming back
Carolina Farm Trust for theirsecond annual systems change
conference, which is a regionalresilience through regenerative
agriculture.
They really lean intoregenerative agriculture through
regenerative agriculture.
They really lean intoregenerative agriculture and
they're a Charlotte-basedorganization but they choose
Iredell County and to come hereand partner with us in

(06:50):
Statesville because of the greatagricultural history and farms
and stuff we have out here.
So we're excited to welcomethem back September 9th and 10th
to our Statesville Civic Center.
It's from 8.30 am to 5 pm.
It is a ticketed conference butit is open to the public.
So if agriculture andregenerative farming is

(07:12):
something that interests you, weencourage you to look more into
that.
One of the things I reallyreally love they did this last
year and it was a sold out eventand I imagine it's going to be
a sold out event this year.
And it was a sold-out event andI imagine it's going to be a
sold-out event this year and itwas great.
It was great, but I do believethere are some tickets still
available but is that?
They partner with the communityto host a dinner on Broad

(07:32):
Street and they have announcedan amazing lineup of chefs.
They have different chefs thatdo the dessert and the main
dishes and the appetizers andeven some mixed drinks
mixologists out there.
So that is on September 10thfrom 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

(07:54):
Tickets are $95.
But it's a farm-to-table feasthosted by Carolina Farm Trust
right on Broad Street in frontof Mitchell, the whole length of
the block, almost two blocks, Iguess City block.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Yeah, great event.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
So dinner on Broad Street, don't miss it.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Yeah, september 11th, the Iredell Arts Council will
be hosting the Speedball ArtProducts Print Artist Show.
So Speedball Art Products isone of the nation's largest art
supply companies and they'relocated right here in
Statesville.
And so this is the third annualSpeedball Art Products show
showcasing local artists anddiversity of mediums and

(08:34):
printmaking techniques and justa really great, really great
time.
Lots of wonderful art.
So come out to the Arts Council.
They always have sort of areception to celebrate these
artists at the opening of a newgallery.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Thank you, Speedball Art.
Come out and see us on CourtStreet and the Art of Arts
Council.
So Theater Statesville is backwith their next production, A
Life in the Theater.
It's a comedy play by TheaterStatesville and they are going
to be doing that at the ARSBlack Box Theater.
So that is the new AmericanRenaissance venue where the

(09:10):
newspaper used to be the RickerLandmark newspaper used to be.
So it's based on a PulitzerPrize winning author by the
Pulitzer Prize winning author ofGlenn Gary, glenn Ross and
Speed the Plow.
So this takes us into winningauthor of Glen Gary, glen Ross
and Speed the Plow.
It takes us into the lives oftwo actors, john Young and

(09:31):
Rising into the first flush ofsuccess, and the other, robert,
older, anxious and beginning towane.
So it's a short series comedy, play and Theater.
Statesville always does a goodjob, so we encourage you to get
tickets for that, but it is.
I didn't think.
I don't think I said that isSeptember.
Kicks off September 12th withevening performances the 12th,

(09:54):
13th, 14th, 19th, 20th and 21stGosh.
It's a busy month and then theyalso are going to have a
matinee on the 15th and the 22ndat 2.30.

Speaker 3 (10:05):

the.

finest smooth rock of the 70sand 80s and I got to say this

(10:26):
part because it's listed hereHarmonies check.
Monster guitars check.
Bathrobes check.
So that didn't trigger yourcuriosity.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
You were in a bathrobe in a recent photo at
the Arts Council, weren't you?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
We were screening the Big Lebowski, so I had dressed
up as the dude for that purposeCamel City Yacht Club.
But so always a great time atthe Piedmont Healthcare Friday
after 5.
That has grown into being apretty monstrous event here in
downtown Statesville with greatattendance.
Yeah, also at that particularevent is the Statesville Kids

(10:59):
Biz Expo.
The Chamber of Commerce puts on.
The Chamber of Commerce puts on, and that's for young budding
entrepreneurs so you canregister.
Actually, registration forparticipation is closed for this
year, but it's an opportunityfor kids to come out and maybe
they want to sell big goods thatthey made, or maybe they make
bracelets or any kind ofbusiness idea that these kids

(11:20):
have.
It's an opportunity for them tocome out and set up and you've
got a built-in audience of awhole bunch of people that can
come by and check out your wares.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Now I think this maybe I'm not sure about the
concert, but definitely the KidsExpo this is a rescheduled
event because we spoke aboutthis some in our August event
rundown and they got rained out.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
The weather's going to be fine for this day, though.
It's going to be good.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
It's going to be great, it's going to be perfect.
And then we'll be heading intothe second Saturday sidewalk
stroll, the second Saturday indowntown Statesville we had Tori
with the Mercantile on Broad inlast month for a great show,
talking all about it.
And so second Saturday everymonth, sidewalk Stroll in

(12:05):
downtown Statesville.
So dine, shop and stroll, andit's put out by the merchants
themselves.
They've come together andreally getting out there and
promoting themselves.
And very cool collaborativeevent yeah, we love it.
And very cool collaborativeevent yeah, we love it.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
On the 14th, the inaugural Downtown Harmonies
Music Festival.
This is hosted by the folksover at American Renaissance and
I believe it's sort of acontinuation of the event that
they used to have up at FeathersGrove, but they're going to
host this at their new gym andactivity center right here in
downtown Statesville.
It's 12 to 6.

(12:43):
Just a really great opportunityto enjoy downtown and come out
and see some live music andcelebrate with friends and
family.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
I've missed their event out at Fiddler's Grove.
I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
It was always cool, yeah, so I'm sure they did a
great job with that.
I'm sure they'll do a great jobwith this, so check out
Downtown Harmony's MusicFestival.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Yeah, absolutely Looking forward to that.
And that's on September 14th,right, that's right.
Also on September 14th, ourfriends over at Westside Twins.
Have you heard of WestsideTwins?

Speaker 3 (13:08):
I have.
They're doing a bunch of coolstuff.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
They are.
They brought that Wall of Deathout when they grand opened it.
It was really cool.
But they're having their firstannual cruise in right there at
Westside Twins and that is alsohappening on September 14th
there at 2313 West Front Street.
But they say whether you rollon two wheels or four, this

(13:34):
event is for you.
So an afternoon filled withmusic, delicious food and good
old-fashioned fellowship.
Oh wow.
It says they're going to besharing a newly finished 58
English Ford Anglia.
I'm going to say that wrong, but that sounds really cool.
So bring your friends out.
They're going to have music byHolt Up and Carter Librand.

(13:55):
Did I say that right?
Do you know, Carter?
But it looks like all day musicand fun and cruising at
Westside Twins.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Go check them out.
Yeah, on September the 19th,the Iredell Arts Council will be
hosting Leslie Mendelson,brooklyn-based singer-songwriter
.
We do a concert.
The Iredell Arts Council does aconcert series, part of their
key concert series, in additionto working with the folks from
Grassroots Entertainment Groupand the Insomniacs organization,

(14:21):
and every show that takes placeat the arts council is worth
coming to.
It's a it's a really greatvenue.
Um, great acoustics, greatsound engineers making
everything look and sound greatin there.
So, um, come and come and checkout leslie mendelson, but I
would jump on trying to gettickets sooner than later yeah,
it really seems, like, richard, that there's something going on.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I mean mean multiple nights at the Arts Council with
that array of partners and groupthat you talked about and we've
talked about this some.
It's a featured event here inthe greater Statesville area but
the Love Valley Robe is backSeptember 20th through 22nd
Gravel Grinder Classic Bike Race.

(15:00):
So they've added a hundred mileoption but it's a bike race
through Love Valley put on byactually a local, west Davidson,
with First Flight Bicyclesright here in downtown
Statesville.
So if you are a gravel bikerider and for some reason you do

(15:20):
not know about the Love ValleyRobe yet, sign up.
Be sure you don't miss thatSeptember 20th or 22nd.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Sexy gravel miles each day it says Wes.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
are you talking about you or the bicycling there?

Speaker 3 (15:34):
I don't know if it's optional Pain and suffering are
mandatory.
Yeah, but super cool, supercool event to have here.
But super cool, super coolevent to have here.
We've got coming up onSeptember 21st, the Project Food
, land and People at Lake NormanState Park, which is an
informal and formal educatorsworkshop.
So this is really pretty neat.

(15:54):
This national environmentaleducation curriculum is going to
be taught to both formal andinformal educators.
So if you want to learn youknow, if you're a teacher here
in the area and you want to comeand get some tips on some
lesson plans that are relatableto these particular topics, you
can come down and they'reoffering that information.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, and then we have at least my dog's favorite
day of the year coming up.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
That's right.
Dog day at the pool.
Yeah, we got a lot of staffthat this is their favorite day
of the year too.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Makes for some great pictures.
It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
So we started this a number of years ago.
Recreation and Parks Departmenthosts a Dog Day at the Pool.
This year's event is on notlisted here.
It's late.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
September, it's probably that same day.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
It's probably the 21st as well.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Yes, but so it's from 11 am to 2 pm.
In some years we've offered twodifferent sessions for small
dogs and big dogs, but we'vedecided just to bring everybody
in together, because mosteverybody comes to the big dog
session even if they have asmall dog.
But it's $5 a dog.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Small dogs want to be big dogs too, All small dogs
think that, so it works out.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
So there are some parameters.
We've got to provide proof ofcurrent rabies vaccination.
No choke callers.
No more than two dogs perperson.
Humans are not allowed to getin the water with the dogs.
But it's a really great timeand it's fun to watch dogs run
around and play in the pool andwe always get this question, but

(17:20):
it is after the pool has closedfor the season, so there's
ample time to get the pooltreated and ready for next
year's swim season Is Merle adog day at the pool, kind of guy
Merle usually comes to dog dayat the pool.
Merle loves the water.
He doesn't love other dogs, notin an aggressive manner.
He just can't be bothered.
He's just sort of like let medo my my thing I'm just here to

(17:41):
swim.
He prefers the lake water right, yeah, he likes to swim for
exercise.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Yeah.
So back to Iredell Museums man, they've got a lot going on.
In September they are opening anew exhibit called
Museumologies.
I hope I'm saying that right.
Museumologies artifacts as ameans of study.
So a collection of artifacts atIretl Museums.
It's a hodgepodge of odditiesand curiosities.

(18:06):
So it says they're going toillustrate how museums have
updated their methodology andpractices through the years.
So that's very interesting.
So check out there.
They're opening it on the 21st,but I'm assuming that's going
to be their exhibit.
It'll be open probably headinginto October.
So we're excited about that.
Very cool.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Also on the 21st is the Fall Art Crawl here in
downtown Statesville.
If you've never been to an artcrawl, it's a really great event
, pretty basic concept and theyget a bunch of different artists
that sign up, register to anddifferent downtown businesses to
host a couple of artists.
So most of the downtownbusinesses and restaurants stay
open.
So it's just an opportunity tocome downtown.

(18:47):
It's real casual.
You walk around, you go intothe downtown locations,
restaurants and retail shops andthey'll all have an additional
artist or two.
So two birds, one stone.
Just a really great night indowntown Statesville.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Yeah, just a way to be creative.
They've actually moved it to a.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Saturday afternoon now, so it's two to six.
It used to be a Friday eveningthing, and they've changed the
format.

Speaker 1 (19:08):
Is it not a fine art fall crawl this time?
A fine art crawl this time.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
They are fine arts.
You're not going to see as muchlike craft type things.
They're all going to be finearts.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Yeah, they're going to focus more on the crafts in
the spring.
Correct, kind of change it up.
You know good for them thinkingoutside the box.
Then we're back at.
So after our crawl in downtownStatesville, you can be a part
of an authentic British high teaat the Sharp House.
The Sharp House puts on somegreat tease and this won't be no

(19:38):
different, but that will alsobe the 21st.
Wow lot happening that's a fullday um from 6 to 7 45 pm, so
that um ticket, ticket ofticketed event, um only one
seating at 6 pm.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
So don't miss that on that, that's right yeah, uh,
also on the 21st at Matt GrayAuditorium.
Performing Arts Live or no?
This is Performing Arts Live.
Iredell is presenting theMasters of Soul.
They'll perform all yourfavorite hits.
This is 7 pm.
I imagine they'll have ticketsfor sale on their website, so

(20:15):
jump on that.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
So our Iredell County Public Library, right here in
downtown Statesville.
They have a plethora of events, but one we wanted to make sure
that to pull out that peopledon't miss out on is they're
doing an Iredell History TellerSeries with OC Stone Street.
Oc does a great job at that.
He's an author of several books, a contributor to our local

(20:37):
newspapers, but this is knownfor his ability to bring Iredell
history to life.
So it's one of the firstprograms of a series and that
will be kicking off on September23rd from 6 pm to 7 pm.
It's RSVP required, so checkout if that's something that is
of interest to you.
Check out the Iredell CountyPublic Library's website.

(20:58):
Awesome Myrtle County PublicLibrary's website.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
Awesome.
Also on the 28th Fall LivingHistory Day at Fort Dobbs
Historic Site to experience aday in life at the garrison of
Fort Dobbs.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
It's a big day for them.
Tons of people come out forthis.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
So yeah, just an opportunity to see what a
glimpse of the life was likeliving back in the fort when it
was there.
That's 10 am to 4 pm on the28th.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Yeah, I think I need one of these uniforms.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
And that's free.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
Yeah, that's a free event.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
They do accept donations.
I should do an episode wearingone of those.

Speaker 1 (21:30):
You should do an episode, no, you should do an
episode doing that you have thehair for it, the back-in-the-day
hair, I'm thinking they hadlong hair.
Um, and then, uh, wrapping upthe month, uh, with the
statesville pride parade andfestival in downtown statesville
.
So that's from 12 pm to 4 pm um, fun filled day, celebrate

(21:52):
diversity in our community.
So, um, for vendor information,it says to contact Sherry Corsi
, but you can go out and let'ssee Statesville Pride Parade on
Facebook.
But this is also on our websiteat stateswillnccom, if you'd
like more information on that.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
And I think this is maybe their fourth, third or
fourth year and, yeah, I thinkgetting a little bit bigger
every year.
I went last year.
It's a great event.
It was a lot of fun, we had agreat time.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Yeah, great event.
It was a lot of fun, we had agreat time.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
So, yeah, so wrapping , wrapping up the month with
