Speaker 1 (00:02):
Corp Sp Order 4 over the primitive loudspeaker Two
hundred Oregonians immediately, two hundred more in two hours
and every two hours Until eitherthe message was received or no
one was left to resist.
The Empire had zero tolerancefor terrorism and if they were
going to stay ahead of theFederation's expansion they'd

(00:24):
have to hold these newlyconquered worlds.
They couldn't risk dissent, because dissent becomes
terrorism and terrorism becomesrevolution.
Kor's directive was clear andhe was a loyal soldier.
And while he was enhanced withsuperior ambition, he was still
Klingon.
Executing unarmed civiliansturned his stomach.

(00:47):
There was no honor in such adeath, he thought, as he stood
stoically watching them as hismen fired into the crowd.
As is common with Klingonhistory, myth and legend are
inexorably intertwined with cold, hard fact.
To the Klingon peoples theywere one and the same Few

(01:07):
epitomized this, like the Houseof Kor.
To tell its history is to tellits tales.
To tell only the truth wouldonly purvey half the story.
So the legend of the House ofKor will be rife with
exaggeration and rumor.
But you shouldn't feel slighted.

(01:28):
After all, they don't writeoperas about the truth.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Welcome to the Memory Library subspace network.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Input inquiry now.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Activating holographic interface.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
The lineage of the Great House can trace itself
back to the Imperial Family, theKlingon Imperial Family were
the descendants of Kaelashimself, the founder of the
Empire, who drug the Klingonclans out, the descendants of
Kaelas himself, the founder ofthe Empire, who drug the Klingon
clans out of the Dark Ages, kicking and screaming.
But don't let that fool you.
The House of Kor may claimnobility, but not that of the

(02:35):
divine.
Marking the end of the SecondDynasty, there was a revolution
by the lower classes and theImperial family was executed.
The revolutionaries took theirnames, their titles, their
property to redefine thearistocracy forever.
These warriors gave the Houseof Kor its status in the empire.

(02:58):
The son of Koltar, one of manyto bear the name Kor, would
ironically be the first tochange its great name, An
attempt to save face amidst acrisis which would change the
Klingon Empire for more than acentury to come.

(03:18):
In the mid-22nd century, it cameto light that a geneticist and
pariah named Erik Sung hadrevisited one of humanity's
darkest moments by raising andfostering augmented human beings
.
He had quietly hoarded frozenembryos of genetically
engineered supermen, secretedaway after Earth's eugenics wars
, an act seen as not onlyillegal but devastatingly

(03:40):
dangerous.
Having discovered this, theKlingon Empire saw a potential
acceleration in thelong-standing Cold War with the
Federation, A Cold War of whichthe Federation was often naive
or oblivious.
Fearing that humans couldoverpower the Empire, they
manned Starfleet vessels withaugmented humans.

(04:02):
A secret project was undertakento create their own enhanced
troops to counter the perceivedthreat.
It was an unmitigated disaster.
The augments created diddevelop enhanced strength and
intelligence briefly, but theyalso began to show grotesque
side effects.
They showed signs of illness, changing personalities and their

(04:24):
cranial ridges began todissolve.
Ultimately, the subjects diedagonizing deaths when the
incompatible DNA conflictsresulted in a breakdown of the
very structure of their brains.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
They are Klingons and it is a long story.
What happened?

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Some kind of genetic engineering.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
A viral mutation Since there was only a passing
emphasis on science in Klingonculture.
Mistakes often happened whenattempting such ambitious
endeavors.
Case in point while working tostabilize this process, the
scientific team began genetherapy on a test subject who
was unknown to those involved, also infected with Levodian flu.

(05:10):
The virus in some mannerincorporated the Augment DNA,
turning a carefully controlledexperiment into an epidemic, as
the unstable augmentationprocess always killed the
subject.
This epidemic threatened theentire Klingon race with
extinction.
The virus spread rapidly likewildfire, infecting millions in

(05:36):
a matter of months.
At first, the Empire's responsewas to wipe out the infected,
but this proved infeasible.
It was too widespread and tooinfectious.
They sought the help of theFederation, ironically, and it
worked.
The infection was stabilizedinto something at least

(05:59):
non-lethal, but nonethelessimpactful.
It was no longer fatal, but itwas permanent.
Those affected would lose theircharacteristic bridges and
their personalities would bealtered.
There's no trace of the virusin your bloodstream.

Speaker 5 (06:17):
My targ won't even recognize me In the future, it
may be possible to reverse thecosmetic effect.

Speaker 6 (06:24):
I suppose this is what I deserve.
Millions of my people will haveto live with this disfigurement
.
It'll be passed on to ourchildren.
Life won't be easy for us.
You did your best to correctyour mistakes.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
That's all we can ask of ourselves.

Speaker 6 (06:42):
I doubt my superiors will allow me to remain in my
position.
I'll need to find a newspecialty, perhaps cranial
reconstruction.

Speaker 5 (06:56):
I have a feeling that's about to become very
popular.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I'm grateful for everything that you've done the
augment DNA simply wasn'tcompatible with Lungan
physiology.
The infected would neverreceive the enhanced strength,
intelligence or endurance.
They would, however, receivethe darkest trait of Earth's
folly the deadly ambition of menlike Khan Noonien Singh.

Speaker 4 (07:29):
Malik's doing more than arguing with your commands.
He's plotting against you.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
He wants to take your place beginning the augment,
klingons were shunned and lookeddown upon a lower class in the
social hierarchy.
But that wouldn't last long.
Their ambition and ruthlessnessensured a swift coup in
leadership.
This was fortunate for many ofthe great houses who had been
among the infected.
They need not lose theirstanding, nor would their

(07:59):
affected offspring.
By the 23rd century, affectedKlingons led the charge in the
Klingon defense force,aggressively expanding the
empire.
In 2256, the zealot and Klingonnationalist Tuguvma ignited the

(08:21):
beacon of Kaelas, a sort ofartificial star that served as a
clarion call to all Klingons.
Kol, son of Kol-Sha, answeredthe call.
The beacon was meant to rallythe 24 great houses against the
Federation's expansion.
Tukuvma and his cult were thestewards of the sarcophagus, a

(08:55):
holy vessel armored with thecaskets of the honored dead.
He was not a member of the highcouncil.
He was little more than a cultleader, meaning he drew little
respect from the likes of Cole.
Still, tukuvma had succeeded inassembling a like-minded group
of Klingons and provoked aconfrontation in a binary star

(09:16):
system between several of theGreat Houses and a fleet of
Starfleet vessels.
He was killed in the ensuingbattle, leaving his fanatical

(09:38):
followers under the leadershipof Bok, the albino protege of
Dekuva.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Through his death, Dekuva had succeeded in his goal
.
The empire was at war with theFederation.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Falk typified his group of fundamentalists in that
, as an albino, he was astigmatized outcast in Klingon
society.
Cole respected this even less.
The sarcophagus had been leftadrift after the battle, damaged
and dysfunctional.
Slowly the group began tostarve and hope dwindled.

(10:15):
Seizing upon this as anopportunity, cole waited for
desperation to set in and thenbeamed aboard as savior, his
offer Food and rescue inexchange for loyalty to the
House of Kor and the abandonmentof Vok, who would be exiled to

(10:37):
a derelict Starfleet vessel.
Leaning on the influence hishouse wielded, kol consolidated
power over the High Council andexpelled all the great houses
who were not allied with him.
He laid the seeds that tworenegade houses, the House of
Degor and the House of Mokai, were seeking an alliance with
the Federation.
In an attempt to lure aFederation operative into a trap
, cole had sought to capture theVulcan ambassador Sarek, but

(11:02):
Admiral Katrina Cornwell wassent in Sarek's place.
Well aware of the danger, coleimmediately had Cornwell's
security escort slaughtered andthe Admiral was imprisoned
aboard the sarcophagus.
Cole remained aboard the fabledShip of the Dead as he pulled

(11:25):
the strings on a burgeoning warwith the Federation.
The ship had something hecoveted, something that would
reshape warfare in the galaxyforever.
A cloaking device, he beganreplicating and dispersing the
sarcophagus technology to shipsloyal to him and him alone,

(11:46):
enabling the Klingons to ambushthree Starfleet ships on patrol.
Unlike Tukuvma, cole sought notunity but his house's rule over
the Klingon Empire and theEmpire's supremacy over the
Federation and the Quadrant andthe Quadrant.
L'oreal, a Klingon woman withloyalties to both Tukuvma and

(12:07):
House Mokai on the High Council, secretly helped Admiral
Cornwell to escape.
She then reported her findingsfrom her interrogation to Cole.
The discovery carried newtechnology which could be used
to the Empire's advantage.
Cole fumed over her feignedrecklessness in allowing the

(12:30):
Admiral to escape.
When L'Oreal attempted retreat, cole ordered her stop.
He noted that a skilledinterrogator may be needed in
the future and welcomed her tothe House of Kor, demanding her
loyalty, which she gave to saveher skin.
But Kol had seen through herdeceit and decided to show her

(12:53):
how the House of Kor treatsliars.
Loyalists dragged the Klingonwoman away.
Kol ordered his ship to Pavo.
Immediately Arriving at theplanet, cole was informed that
Discovery had appeared in orbit, something he considered foolish

(13:15):
.
He brazenly announced hisintention to board Discovery,
slaughter everyone aboard andcapture the Spore Drive before
wreaking havoc on the planet.
With his crew behind him, coleordered the sarcophagus decloak
and open fire on Discovery.
But Discovery used its newtechnology to its advantage.

(13:42):
It had a wild idea to use thespore drive.
A cautious Cole ordered thecloak re-engaged, believing the
starship's actions were a ruseof some sort.
In reality, it was engaging inmultiple jumps to develop some
sort of algorithm to penetratethe cloaking screen.

(14:04):
In multiple jumps to developsome sort of algorithm to
penetrate the cloaking screen, cole knew he was in trouble and
ordered his crew to leave thesystem but enter Discovery
Officer Michael Burnham, who hadinfiltrated the sarcophagus.

(14:24):
She used a universal translatorto speak in Klingon, something
to which Cole bristled.
She was the one who had killedTukuvma Ever.
The strategist, cole recognizedthe value of Burnham as an
asset to his ongoingconsolidation of the Empire.
As he expected it would swaythe remaining Tukuvma loyalists

(14:46):
to his ongoing consolidation ofthe Empire.
As he expected it would swaythe remaining Takuvma loyalists
to his side.
He ordered her imprisoned, butslyly, burnham challenged him to
single combat to prove hisworthiness.
She knew Cole would never backdown from a direct challenge to
his authority or his pride.
Cole tossed her at Mak'le.
I accept your challenge.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
A direct challenge to his authority or his pride?
Cole tossed her at Mechleth Iaccept your challenge.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Human, he may not have been an augment, but Cole
was stronger and faster thanmost human beings.
He quickly overtook Burnham, disarming her, grabbing her by
the throat and gloated yourdeath will secure my place as
absolute ruler of the KlingonEmpire.
However, before Cole wasdelivered, glory Burnham

(15:38):
struggled free and jumped offthe bridge's mezzanine to be
beamed away by discovery.
The entire exercise was a ruse.
Cole had overplayed his handand Starfleet doesn't play by
the same rules.
The combat with Cole had givenDiscovery enough time to

(15:59):
complete its algorithm.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Lieutenant Tyler and Specialist Burnham are safely
back aboard along with AdmiralCornwell, who's been injured,
and a Klingon prisoner who'sbeen taken into custody.
Nice surprise.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
All right.
Load all available photontorpedoes Target the enemy ship.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
And with Klingon poking technology now exposed,
discovery launched an all-outbarrage on the sarcophagus.
On the sarcophagus, they killedeveryone aboard, including Cole
, like so many would-beconquerors before him.
Hubris his downfall.

(16:43):
Cole may be gone, but the Houseof Kor would still hold its
place in the power structures ofthe empire for years to come.
Another legend goes, in onevariation or another, that in

(17:18):
the early 23rd century the househad been renamed for its
then-leader, nodge, but whenNodge fell in battle to the
Romulans in 2218, the houseslowly began to crumble.
The Lady Mochi attempted tocontinue the proud house's
traditions and gave birth to achild.
However, this child wasunsuited to carry the family

(17:40):
line.
In their eyes at least, he wasan albino.
His appearance meant that hewas seen as impure.
No use for him.
He was to be put to death.
His fate would lie elsewhere, though, as he was taken in by

(18:05):
Orion pirates and slave tradersin an attempt to exploit his
knowledge of the once greathouse and the secrets of their
fortune, though they had verylittle at this point.
The albino became a pirate inhis own right, stealing from the
empire at every opportunity, fueled by the hatred of those
who had betrayed him.
Opportunity fueled by thehatred of those who had betrayed

(18:32):
him.
Meanwhile, a young, ambitiousnephew of the Lady Moji, saw the
fractured structure of theirhouse as a chance to take
control and apply his vision, torestore it to its former glory,
almost as if ordained by fate.
His name was Kor, and so againwould be his house.
Kor rose quickly in the ranksof the Klingon Defense Force,

(18:59):
the augmented ambition notdiluted by generations before
him.
Augmented ambition not dilutedby generations before him.
By 2246, kor had taken commandof the IKS Kutluch, a D6-class
battlecruiser.
He was charged by the greatgeneral Kord to prevent any

(19:20):
Federation vessels from enteringa system.
The Empire had their sights onOne in particular a remote human
outpost in the midst of greatturmoil, therefore easily
conquered A planet by the nameof Tarsus IV.
As the story goes, this wouldbe the first time that Kor would

(19:46):
come face to face with the USSEnterprise captained by the
legendary Robert April.
You may not have heard ofRobert April.
Think of him as more like thefifth Beatle.
He was important.
He really wasn't around whenyou started paying attention.
He really wasn't around whenyou started paying attention.

(20:10):
Robert April was leading arelief armada to Tarsus IV with
food and supplies.
The Federation had no intentionof conquering or annexing
Tarsus IV.
But they were Federationcitizens who had left Federation
space and founded the colonyyears before.
In a show of goodwill, robertApril offered Korr a place in

(20:33):
his fleet to help deliver aid tothe forlorn colony.
But Korr stood his ground andvowed to fight rather than join
the Federation effort.
But Starfleet had sent a smallarmada and it was too much for
the Kutluch.
Kor was defeated, humiliated.
He would never underestimate ortrust Starfleet again.

(21:03):
In 2267, temperatures betweenthe Empire and the United
Federation of Planets hadreached a boiling point.
Constant one-upmanship andaggressive expansion came to a
head above the disputed world ofOrgania.
The planet had been occupied bythe Empire during the First
Klingon Federation War, only tobe abandoned in the aftermath.
Coded orders from StarfleetCommand to the USS Enterprise

(21:31):
informed now-Captain JamesTiberius Kirk that negotiations
with the Klingon Empire were onthe verge of collapse.
Starfleet expected a surpriseattack at any moment.
The Enterprise was ordered toOrgania to prevent the Empire
from using it as basicoperations in the border
territories.
Starfleet's worries wereprescient, as the Enterprise

(21:53):
found itself suddenly under firein the Klingon ambush.
But the IKS Vortha was a scoutand no match for the legendary
starship, though their attackwas a bold one.
The crew's back against thewall.
James Kirk orders a retaliatoryresponse, one effective enough

(22:15):
to destroy the Volta utterly.
The battle was short, but it wasimportant of things to come.
As word came over subspaceradio.
For the second time in justover a decade, the Federation
and the Klingon Empire were atwar.
The Enterprise arrived atOrgania shortly before the

(22:36):
Klingons had, but they wereforced to leave orbit.
When the fleet arrived, theywere simply one ship against an
armada, leaving Captain Kirk andLieutenant Commander Spock
stranded, leaving Captain Kirkand Lieutenant Commander Spock
stranded.
Kor acted swiftly anddecisively.
He immediately set up shop, nowin the role of planetary

(22:57):
governor.
The Organians were generallydocile like sheep, he thought,
and showed no resistance to thenew occupation, with the
exception of one dissentingvoice from a man named Voroner,
aka James T Kirk.
You'll have to forgive some ofthese simulations.
We have some of these on loanfrom the Klingon libraries and

(23:20):
they're quite melodramatic.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
They put music on everything.
Where is your smile?
My, what the stupid, idioticsmile.
Everyone else seems to bewearing Smile, smile.
I don't trust men who smile toomuch.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Kor, none the wiser of the ruse, decided to make
Barona his liaison to theOrganian people.
Kor's first officer, kaelor, questioned the bizarre decision,
but Kor was a shrewd tactician, keeping the malcontent
individual close at hand.
He saw something in Barona, something he couldn't quite put

(24:04):
his finger on.
Kor then settled into hisoffice and bemoaned a dull
assignment while his brethrensought glory in battle.
But Rona proved more troublethan Kor anticipated.
Kirk and his first officerSpock, decided to try and ignite

(24:26):
rebellion, literally by riggingan IED and blowing up a Klingon
ammunition depot.
Reluctantly but angrily, korenacted the Empire's
no-tolerance policy on terrorismand ordered 200 Organians
executed, with 200 more tofollow until the prisoners were
handed over.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
No results, commander , nothing.

Speaker 6 (24:42):
I cannot understand these people.

Speaker 5 (24:43):
They know what death is, don't they?

Speaker 6 (24:45):
They do not seem to be worried about anything.

Speaker 5 (24:48):
Bad enough to be a military governor, but to govern
a population of sheep, round up200 more.
Yes, sir Fools.
Well, I have to kill them all.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
But Kirk could not tolerate the loss of innocent
lives.
It went against everything theFederation stood for.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
You have done well to get this far, sir my guards.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
I believe you'll find that several of them are no
longer in perfect operatingcondition.

Speaker 5 (25:14):
So you are here.
So you are here.
You will be interested inknowing that a Federation fleet
is on its way here at the moment.
Our fleet is preparing to meetthem Checkmate.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
However, with hostility rising, the Organians
took the opportunity to revealtheir true identities Powerful,
non-corporeal beings who hadevolved past petty disputes.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
Millions of years ago , Captain, we were humanoid like
yourselves, but we havedeveloped beyond the need of
physical bodies.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
Totally incorporeal Not life as we know it at all, I
should say the Organians are asfar above us on the
evolutionary scale, as we areabove the amoeba.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
Even if you have some power that we don't understand,
you have no right to dictate toour Federation or our Empire
how to handle their interstellarrelations we have the right to
wage war Captain, to killmillions of innocent people, to
destroy life on a planetaryscale.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
The Organians halted the immediate conflict by making
weapons on both sides toophysically hot to operate.
They froze the movement ofevery starship in the quadrant,
then forced the peace treaty onthe two powers under the threat
of neutralizing their forces ifthey did not comply.
Oh, eventually you will havepeace, but only after millions

(26:48):
of people have died, theOrganians assured the Federation
and the Klingon Empire thatthey would one day join together
as allies.

Speaker 6 (26:56):
True that in the future you and the Klingons will
become fast friends.
You will work together.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
Never.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Your emotions are most important, though for the
present, kor was simply left toponder what a pity it was.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
Well, Commander, I guess that takes care of the war
.
Obviously, the Arganians aren'tgoing to let us fight.

Speaker 5 (27:20):
Shame, Captain.
It would have been glorious.
I hope you will continue tosavor the sweetness of your life
.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
In a less prideful story, it's been said that Cor's
son, dakar, attempted to takerevenge on the humiliating
incident and kill Captain Kirk, but was instead clumsily
captured by the Enterprise.
Under the terms of the OrganianPeace Treaty, he was to be sent
back home.
It was the first time Kirk andKor had met face to face since

(27:56):
Organia, and once again Kor washumiliated.
In 2269, captains Kor, kolothand Kang were ordered to report
to the dilithium mine of BetaThoradar to investigate unrest
among the Klingon workers.
Kor was to interrogate theminers and find out why they

(28:19):
were carrying out attacksagainst the mine.
Kor quickly discovered that theAugment descendant miners were
being abused and terrorizedbecause of their mixed heritage.
As an Augment descendanthimself, he knew the pain all
too well.
He knew the pain all too well.
Taking up for the miners, korchallenged the mine's

(28:39):
incompetent security chief,sorkov, to hand-to-hand combat a
giktal.
Sorkov was brutally butskillfully slain and another
legend of Kor was born.
He was to fight for thedowntrodden, the little man.
He was a hero of the commonpeople, though he came from a

(29:01):
house of great wealth.
Rising to the moment.
Kor pontificated to the minersno matter your appearance, he
told them, your hearts are stillKlingon and you should always
conduct yourselves with honor.
But that would be only thebeginning of Kor's legendary

(29:24):
campaigns.
With the equally legendaryKoloth and Kang, the three
Klingons fought a gloriousbattle against Tanang, from whom
Kor had once held the KormaPass With an enemy of 40 legions
.
They emerged victorious againstoverwhelming odds, killing
Tanang and feasting on hisstill-beating heart.
Later that year, kor had beengiven command of what would one

(29:48):
day be the legendary IKS KlothosA fine ship, he thought.
But every captain knows.
Nothing can ever replace thatquiet place in the heart in
which lives his first command.
He and two other battlecruisersnot captained by Kang and
Koloth stumbled upon a mostcoveted surprise while sweeping
the sector.

(30:09):
The Enterprise would soonregret their trespass, he mused.
He allowed a devious smile tobreak his hardened facade.
He coordinated a strategy towork in tandem to corner and
destroy the Enterprise as sheentered a fabled region of the
Alpha Quadrant known as theDelta Triangle.

(30:29):
Much like its terrestrialnamesake, the area was notorious
for ships lost with no trace.
The area was notorious forships lost with no trace.
During its initial maneuvers, almost as if on cue, the Clocos

(30:52):
seemed to shimmer and warp, asif initiating a primitive
cloaking device of some sort, then, before the eyes of the
three other vessels, simplyvanished as if by magic.
Not stopping to consider thebizarre circumstances, the
Clothos had been destroyed.
They assumed Another crimeagainst the Empire by James Kirk

(31:13):
.
In an effort to solve themystery of the Clothos and save
their asses, the Enterprise madefor the Clothos' former
position, where she promptlyfollowed down the rabbit hole.
Both ships had been transportedto a pocket universe known to
its inhabitants as Elysia.

(31:36):
Upon the Enterprise's arrival, kor put the Klokos on silent
running, attempting to hideamong the derelict ships as he
pounced, his weapons failed, asif by design.
In the wink of an eye, kor andKirk were transported to the

(32:01):
Elysian Council, which wereessentially a retread of the
Organians and their philosophy.
Kor thought the biggestdifference.
They were told it wasimpossible to leave, but they
were warned that any violentbehavior would be treated
harshly.
Not so egalitarian, but thesame idea.
But neither captain was willingto accept their fate this time

(32:28):
and both crews worked in tandemon escape.
Despite the objections of hiscrew, korr thought if he just
went really fast he could breakout of the pocket universe.
As predicted, it failed, but itdid inspire Lieutenant
Commander Spock for theEnterprise to suggest a new plan
.
Both ships might be able towork in unison.

(32:48):
Kor reluctantly agreed, butalso had machinations to destroy
the Enterprise.
Kor appointed his mate, kali,to carry out the plan.
While on the Enterprise, at asocial function between the two

(33:10):
crews, kali snuck into theStarship's computer room and
planted a small explosive whichwould detonate.
When the Enterprise reached thethreshold required to leave the
pocket universe, the trap set.
Clothos and Enterprise enactedtheir plans.
In a tense and desperate race, they both succeeded in breaking

(33:33):
the barrier between universes.
Unfortunately for Core, however, the Elysians had detected the
sabotage plan and already warnedEnterprise, allowing the crew
to jettison the capsule beforeany damage could be done.
Kor attempted to save face andtake credit for their escape,

(34:03):
but once again another scar ofhumiliation crossed his heart.
Though there was once a culturaland technological exchange
between the two space-faringpowers by 2270, there was no
love lost between the Klingonpeoples and the Romulan Star
Empire.
There seemed to stand aconstant state of war, hot and
cold, for decades.
Border skirmishes, territorialdisputes and outpost raids
created a cycle of confrontationthat usually ended in mutually

(34:26):
devastating battles right upKor's alley.
This year saw the bloodiest, most vicious fighting in memory
as the two empires evisceratedthe Beta Quadrant.
The countless years of fightingcame to a head in and around
the hellscape of ionized gas andshards of searing radiation

(34:48):
left from a violent supernova,an area we call the Breyer Patch
, known to the Klingon as KlokDekhel Bracht.
Navigating the metaphase ofradiation and merciless bolts of
plasma took bravery full ofhardiness or a healthy dose of
crazy.
Kor had plenty of all three.

(35:10):
He, kang and Koloth led abrutal assault on a fleet which
was the pride of Romulus, andthey painted the Starways green
with Romulan blood.
The Star Empire was so badlydevastated they began retreating
into isolationism to brood, plot and lick their wounds.
Songs would be sung of that dayfor a century to come, for a

(35:35):
century to come, riding high inthe eyes of the Empire.
Kor and Kang were then tasked toreclaim the border colony of
Caleb IV, a bold move againstthe Federation.
The Battle of Caleb IV saw abrave stand by Federation
starships.
Led by Admiral Isaac Geraghty.
They attempted to drive off theKlingons' attack on the

(35:58):
communication arrays.
However, it ended up being anambush, as the Klingons made the
first usage of the moderncloaking device on their
starships One starship captain, aided by a temporal agent named
Daniels so long story, we'll getinto that some other time

(36:19):
boarded the Clothos, sabotagedthe ship and rescued the
captured Federation ships beforeserving as a decoy to allow the
other ships to escape.
The legendary IKS Clothos wasgone and loss cut deep into
Kor's heart.
And loss cut deep into Kor'sheart.
Side note Now, before you laughat the melodrama, I want you to

(36:45):
remember that you are the oneswho get misty every time you
watch a holoprogram of anEnterprise crashing and burning
and deny it whenever yourfriends laugh and call you out
Look, I'm a hologram, I don'thave a dog in this fight.
The drama's for you, I do thedrama for you.
Okay, moving on.
But Kor wasn't the only proudKlingon captain to grapple with

(37:07):
Kirk in the Enterprise.
In fact, kang and Koloth bothspent years jockeying with Kor
to be the one great warrior whowould defeat the infamous
Starfleet captain in battle.
This perhaps was one reason theTriumvirate would remain
friends and colleagues fordecades.
But the official bond betweenthem went far deeper and was far
darker.

(37:28):
By 2290, the albino's reign ofterror had reached its breaking
point.
Just the year before he hadtaken credit for a devastating
terrorist attack on the Klingoncolony of Korvat, where peace
talks with the Federation werebeing held.
Diplomats, warriors andcivilians alike were slaughtered
without remorse.
He had gone beyond the nuisancethe Empire had tolerated for so

(37:53):
long.
His piracy had become asyndicate.
His tactics had becometerrorism.
Blood was on his hands and theEmpire could no longer stand by
and watch.
Kor Kang and Koloth weredispatched to his stronghold and
led a ruthless assault on hisfollowers and hired mercenaries.

(38:13):
It was a long, bloody andglorious battle, having
destroyed most of the syndicateand seizing its resources for
the empire.
The albino, however, managed toonce again escape these
warriors.
Three chased him all the way toGaldantere, but eventually

(38:35):
returned empty-handed.
Three chased him all the way toGaldantere, but eventually
returned empty-handed.
The albinocist saw this attackas another affront, not a
reaction to what he had done.
His thirst for revenge wouldnow have a focus, and we all
know the ancient Klingon proverbrevenge is a dish best served
cold.
After this event, the captainssolidified their status as

(39:11):
legend.
They ran roughshod over theAlpha and Beta Quadrants,
seemingly invincible.
Yet they were mere mortals, withfailures, flaws and families.
Five years after the incompletebut devastating victory against
the albino's forces, they hadnearly forgotten the escaped
terrorist's vow for revenge.
The albino had not.

(39:34):
He'd spent these years plotting, tracking and scheming.
The proud Klingon warriorswould soon know the veracity of
his vengeance, as the firstbornsons of each fell ill, doomed to
a long, painful death infectedwith a degenerative genetic

(39:55):
disease.
Their great houses would allend with no heirs and the dark
burden of parents outlivingtheir children.
After spending three drunkenhours reliving the battle of
Kluck to Kelprecht in a Ferengihollow suite, two hours past
what he had paid for, kor wasdragged to the security office

(40:16):
of Deep Space Nine until such atime as he was sober.
Kor was dragged to the securityoffice of Deep Space Nine until
such a time as he was soberenough to crawl to the next port
of call.
A disgruntled Koloth would havethe misfortune of collecting
him.
A happy reunion for thestation's science officer, jotzi
Adax, though Esra Simbi, itsprevious host, had been the
Trill ambassador to Kronos andpart of a blood oath shared

(40:38):
between them.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
Do you not recognize our old friend Dax Dax?

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Curzon's dead, but Dax is alive, as a part of me.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
They hadn't been in the same place together for
decades, which made itserendipitous for Kang he
wouldn't have to track them alldown separately.

Speaker 5 (41:11):
Is Kang coming?
Of course he's coming.
He's brought the four of usback together after 81 years.
Could it possibly mean thathe's yes?

Speaker 4 (41:20):
That is exactly what it means.
I have found the albino.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
Truth be told, Kang learned of the albino's location
and visited the system to seeif it was a folly.
He found what he was lookingfor.

Speaker 4 (41:39):
Seven years ago, on day as four, I met one of the
albino's discarded wives.
I fed and clothed her.
I told her the story of oursons.
She still feared him and toldme nothing.
She still feared him and toldme nothing three months ago.

(42:03):
She died.
A week afterwards.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
An amulet she wore around her neck was delivered to
me by messenger in it is thelocation of the albino sanctuary
the albino offered king aglorious battle against 40 of
his best warriors, to which Kangaccepted, believing that if he
couldn't kill the albino, hewould die trying.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
I am Dax, godfather of your son.

Speaker 4 (42:30):
So you are the same, dax, who took a blood oath with
us to seek vengeance.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
Don't mistake.
A new face for a new soul Kang.

Speaker 1 (42:41):
Dax, wanting to fulfill the blood oath, herself
thought Klingons embraced deatha little too easily.
She urged them to consider analternate strategy than an
all-out siege.
Kang knew that the albino'sdefenses could not be beaten by
four people alone.
He knew they had no way to win.
But that was never the point.

(43:02):
But they had gone into battle, often with Curzon, not Jatsia.
She had the idea to disableguards' phasers by reconfiguring
their ship's disruptors tobombard the compound from orbit
with tetreon particles.
The dampening field woulddisable any energy weapons
inside.
Though no one would be able touse a disruptor or phaser, they

(43:27):
would have to rely onhand-to-hand combat.
Fitting Kor, thought Daxcreated a diversion by
sabotaging the compound's armory, drawing a fair amount of
guards away from the main house.
While Kang, koloth and Korwould disable the power station,
knocking out the communicationsand scanners An old trick, the

(43:50):
irony of which was not lost onKor.
The armory exploded andshowered them with fire and ash.
The albino knew the clock wasticking.
Before he could order hisguards to draw back into the
house, the power station was out.

(44:11):
Now he was trapped in his ownmansion.
He had only a few guards and noway to signal the others.

Speaker 4 (44:18):
Look upon your executioners.
Killer of children.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
The warriors' four stormed the hall and fought his
guards tooth and nail.
They fought long and hardvengeance, the only thought
burning their minds.
Koloth was the first to fall.

(44:48):
Stabbed in the back, he died infront of a kneeling Kor, his
friend of decades, the man tosee him on his way to Stovokor.
Kor knew their mission had tosucceed.

(45:10):
At the top of the great stairway, kang struck down by the albino
himself.
They had come so far.
Both Koloth and Kang lay dyingat the feet of the albino.
But as the albino turned, hefound Dax with a bat left to his

(45:31):
throat.
She acted for Curzon, butJetsia had never taken a life.
She paused A mistake that couldhave been fatal if it weren't
for Kang's dying breath.
As he plunged his knife intothe albino's back, who tumbled
to the bottom of the stairway, his final resting place, kang

(45:54):
thanked Dax for allowing him tohave the death blow.
Dax knew better than todissuade him.
It was a good day to die.
Now Kang and Koloth would seetheir sons again at the gates of
Stovakor.
That time was yet to come forKor, who sang songs in honor of

(46:20):
his fallen friends.

Speaker 6 (46:40):
This is a great honor , oh, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
Worf is a great admirer of yours, huh.

Speaker 6 (46:46):
Yes, please.
I have heard stories about yousince I was a child your
confrontation with Kirk onArgania, your attack on Romulus,
your defense of the Karma PassEverything.

Speaker 5 (46:58):
I have done pales in comparison to what I am about to
achieve.
I am on a quest, a quest forthe most revered icon in Klingon
history, cor, an icon thatpredates the Klingon Empire, an
icon more sacred than the Torchof Gabak, more revered than

(47:20):
Sabac's armor and more covetedthan the Emperor's crown, the
Sword of Kaelas Ah.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
The Sword of Kaelas was the first Batleth ever
forged.
It was designed and created byKaelas the Unforgettable himself
and was dated back to the 9thcentury BCE.
Legend says that he plunged alock of hair into a lava flow
from the mighty Kristak summit, then quenched it in the depths

(47:57):
of the Lake of Lusor.
Kaelas then raised the fearsomelegions of the Feklari who
terrorized the land, and he slewthe evil Tyrant Molor, freeing
and uniting the scattered tribesof Kronos into the First Empire
.
The sword was used to harvesthis father's crops, carve a
stone statue of his mate Lucara, and skin the great serpent of

(48:20):
Zol, among other great feats oflegend.
Upon the death of Calus, thesword became a holy artifact.
His subjects swaddled it in aceremonial shroud and held it in
reverence in its most holyplace.
That was until it was stolen bythe plundering Herc, the

(48:43):
scavenging horde from the GammaQuadrant who invaded Kronos 500
years later.
By 2372, the Herc were longdead and little more than a
historical mystery.
In 1772, the Herc were longdead and little more than a
historical mystery.
In that very year, a Vulcangeological survey team stumbled
upon ancient Herc ruins on anuncharted world in the Gamma

(49:03):
Quadrant.
It was there the one trueshroud of the sword was
discovered.

Speaker 5 (49:13):
This Now see, see what the imprint on the claws.
Yes, yes, this held the swordof.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
Calus, don't be so sure you can carpet this station
with all the authentic shroudsof the sword that people have
tried to peddle.

Speaker 5 (49:28):
No one tried to peddle this.

Speaker 1 (49:30):
It was given to me by whom, being the ambassador to
the Vulcan, kor was gifted theShroud to return to his people.
But Kor knew that if the Shroudwas real, so too was the sword
he Worf.
The only Klingon in Starfleetand Jotziah Dax set out to find

(49:50):
the sword and once again unitethe Klingon peoples.

Speaker 5 (49:56):
Think of the glory, the honor of finding the battle
of the first warrior king.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Lost for a millennium .

Speaker 6 (50:06):
Its return would change Klingon history.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
But the sword was a powerful thing, what it meant to
all Klingons, the sway it held, the reverence it commanded, was
a heavy burden for one personto carry, and their quest proved
it.
They successfully fought offthe House of Duras as they
attempted to snatch the swordfrom his grasp.
Or it had been sloppy, a loosetongue and a barrel of blood

(50:32):
wine had tipped off too many tohis prize.
Still, he held the actual swordof Kaelas in his hands, the
greatest honor any Klingon couldever receive.
He wanted it, he needed it, hehad to possess it.
And that was the problem.
No one man was meant to heft it.
It belonged to history and myth.

(50:54):
Its power would corrupt eventhe most honorable warriors.
Kor, worf and Dax made thehardest decision of their lives
and left it adrift in space.
At least now the perfect ideaof the sword would be left to
inspire the Empire and couldnever disappoint.

(51:16):
By the 2370s the House of Korhad standing in name only His
son dead.
Kor would be the last of hisline, of his great house.
He had no influence, no power, only his reputation.

(51:39):
Kor found himself lost in achaotic universe and only a
superficial place in it, themalevolent overlords of the
Gamma Quadrant.
The Dominion laid siege on theAlpha and Beta Quadrants.
The overlords of the GammaQuadrant.
The Dominion laid siege on theAlpha and Beta Quadrants.
The Empire had just dissolvedits long-standing alliance with
the Federation and once againwent to war the third time in

(52:08):
Kor's life, but the first in acentury.
The cause was a result ofmanipulation of Chancellor
Gowron by a Dominion agent.
Kor always thought Gowron afool.
Still, his brothers-in-armswere engaged in glorious battle
while he sat at a desk on Vulcan.
That pain grew exponentiallywhen the Empire turned on the

(52:29):
true enemy and joined theFederation's war with the
Dominion horde, a true, honorable battle that would
decide the fate of not just theEmpire but the galaxy.
There could be no greater honorthan to lay down one's life for
such a noble cause.
Desperate and with noalternative, korr turned to Worf

(52:50):
, who he knew had the leadKlingon general Martok's ear.
But Martok was no fan of Kor.

Speaker 5 (53:05):
It seems my services are not required in the present
moment.

Speaker 6 (53:11):
You are Kor a Dahar master, the man who held the
Korma Pass against Tanag.
Your reputation alone shouldhave assured you a command.

Speaker 5 (53:21):
I also have a reputation for a certain
ruthless quality towards thosewho would stand in my way.
Mind you, it's not entirelyundeserved.
In truth, I rather enjoy beingfeared by my fellow officers.
In truth, I rather enjoy beingfeared by my fellow officers.
However, there's a price to bepaid for such single-minded
devotion to one's ambition.
I've made enemies, perhaps morethan were necessary.

(53:48):
I have no influence left in theEmpire, Even as our entire race
grapples with the Dominionthere's no place for an old man.

Speaker 1 (54:03):
Reluctantly, kor would be allowed to join the
crew, but his role would belittle more than ornamental.
But when, in the heat of battle, a Jem'Hadar attack
incapacitated Martok and theship was without a true
commander, Kor saw his chance totake his rightful place and

(54:26):
took the captain's chair.
He acted decisively and helpedturn the tide in the skirmish.

Speaker 5 (54:36):
But time catches us all in the end and the Predator
bared its teeth at Kor Continuefiring, target the primary
reactors, tave, and bring usround for another pass Coming
about no Only one pass.

(55:04):
Leave the system.
Do not worry, my friend, all iswell.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
You old fool.
The auditor reports our captainand first officer are dead.
They have a whole breach in theport quarter.

Speaker 5 (55:21):
Instruct them to continue firing and open a
channel to Kang To Kang, tellthem we've succeeded here and
that the Federation outpost onCaleb 4 will be taken within an
hour.
Sir Kang has been dead foryears.
Prepare a boarding party.
We're going to take the base, but sir, they have a duracene of
10,000.

Speaker 4 (55:42):
By the hand of Kaelas , get us out of here.

Speaker 1 (55:48):
He quickly found himself the butt of jokes and
the subject of ridicule by thecrew.
Never had he fallen so low.

Speaker 5 (55:55):
Savor the fruit of life, my young friends.
It has a sweet taste when it isfresh from the vine, but don't
live too long.
The taste turns bitter after atime.

Speaker 1 (56:24):
Ashamed, confused, but aware enough of his failure,
Kor lay sullen in crew quarters.
He knew his time on the bridgeof a battlecruiser had come to
an end.
After more than a century, theRotoran's fleet was still in
dire straits.
A squadron of Jem'Hadar shipswas quickly closing on them and
they had few options.

(56:45):
The Jem'Hadar would overtakethem in two hours, less time
than it would take for them torendezvous with the Federation
reinforcements waiting for themwould take for them to
rendezvous with the Federationreinforcements waiting for them,
their backs against the wall.
Worf devised a plan to hold offthe enemy and allow escape of
the fleet, but it was a one-waymission.

(57:10):
That was the only guarantee.
One bird of prey, the Ning Taowith a skeleton crew, would drop
out of warp and fire a gravitonpulse to force the Jem'Hadar to
halt, then engage them longenough for the rest of the fleet
to reach safety In the end.
Kor knew only he was foolhardyand expendable enough to take on
an impossible mission.
So he ambushed Worf with ahypospray before he could board

(57:33):
the Ning Tao and he stepped ontothe transporter path.
Long live the Empire, hedeclared before he beamed away
to destiny.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
One ship against ten.

Speaker 4 (57:53):
It doesn't seem possible.

Speaker 6 (57:55):
He will succeed.
He is Kor.

Speaker 2 (57:59):
The Daha Master.

Speaker 3 (58:11):
He's done it.
The Jepidah are out of time.
They can no longer overtake usbefore we reach the Defiant.

Speaker 4 (58:21):
How did that pompous old man hold off an entire
Jem'Hadar?

Speaker 5 (58:24):
fleet with only one ship Does it matter?

Speaker 4 (58:30):
Darak, give me that bottle.

Speaker 2 (58:50):
Derak give me that bottle To Kor the Dahar master,
a noble warrior to the end.
Thank you, I'm.
