Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible to receive the Grandparent Waiver. 1. Have a grandparent who is a legal resident as defined in s. (2)a., Florida Statutes. Out-of-state first-year students admitted for the summer or fall semester whose grandparent(s) currently reside in Florida, may be eligible for a tuition and fee waiver of the out-of-state tuition . Grandparent Waiver Application The state university Grandparent Waiver was created by the Florida Legislature to allow an out-of-state student with a grandparent who is a legal Florida . Incoming out-of-state freshmen with a grandparent residing in Florida may be eligible for a Grandparent Waiver. This waiver will reduce a qualifying student's tuition and fees for out-of-state costs to match the in-state tuition rate for up to % of their total degree hours, or credit hours. Last year, the Florida legislature signed into law the Grandparent Tuition Waiver. According to the legislation, out-of-state students whose grandparent(s) reside in Florida may be eligible for in-state tuition at a four-year public university in Florida. Students must meet the following requirements to be eligible to receive the Grandparent Waiver. The student must read and check each box below acknowledging their understanding of the requirements.
