I'm sending the love right back. Many blessings.
Now onto some fan mail.
Mukesh from Mumbai, India wrote, Ms. Starline, I just... Ms. Starline, okay.

(21:41):
Ms. Starline, I just want to say I'm loving the Nova 10 podcast. Your mix last episode was pure fire. I really think you've got an amazing ear for what's hot. Keep up the great work. Wow. Mukesh, thank you so much.
It's so awesome to know you feel this way. I really appreciate it. I appreciate you tuning in and please say hello to everybody in Mumbai for me. Wow. Mukesh, thank you.

(22:07):
All right. So next one by Sam from St. Paul, Minnesota, USA. Sam wrote, Starline, please speak on the connection between EDM and disco. I've got friends who full on hate disco, but swear they're the biggest EDM fans. Seems like a contradiction to me. LOL.

(22:30):
Okay, Sam, just for you, I'm going to put on my Professor Starline PH DJ hat and take them to class for you. Okay. Hope they're listening.
So I hope we know that disco is like the OG of electronic music. It's at the stage for today's EDM because they had these like funky drum machine beats and synth sounds that were the foundation.

(22:56):
DJs back then were already mixing songs seamlessly in the 70s, which inspired the genres like house, electro, synth pop and techno. And tracks like Donna Summers, I Feel Love, which I absolutely adore.
And George McCrae's Rock Your Baby were pioneers because they use these electronic sounds to create something new at the time. It was different. So disco's influence is huge as it paved the way for the modern electronic music and changed how music in general is produced because they came up with these techniques that was discovered during the disco era.

(23:35):
So we can say that disco is like the grandparent of EDM because it laid that groundwork for the energetic grandchild that we know and love today.
So with that little bit of research that I did, I came up with some questions to ask you guys. If disco never happened, would we have what we know as electronic music today?

(24:00):
How different do you think the sound would be if disco wasn't the foundation? And do you think EDM would even exist if there was no disco?
Chime in with your thoughts at nova10mixshow at gmail.com. I really, really am interested in knowing what you think.
Now, just to be clear, disco was a catalyst to the evolution of electronic music as we know it. But there was also other factors involved like technological advances in music production and the dance culture itself.

(24:36):
So, yes, disco wasn't the sole driving force, but it was an important one that deserves recognition. And I get that disco isn't everyone's cup of tea. But I think Sam's point is that we should at least appreciate disco's role in shaping EDM.
I think what Sam is saying is to put some respect on disco's name.

(25:02):
Sources for this response are the Los Angeles Film School and Masterclass.
Taking my PhDJ hat off, Sam, thank you for the incredible topic. And while we're at it, shout out to St. Paul, Minnesota.
If you want to send shout outs, fan mail, or any topics of discussions like we just had, send that over to nova10mixshow at gmail.com and I'll make sure to bring it up in a future episode.

(25:32):
Alrighty, so as we put on our I love disco t-shirts, let's get back into the mix. Coming up is Take Your Time by Ghetto Blaster and Love and Logic from September 27.
We'll get into Feel the Beat by Joshua James that came out on July 19 on Maximum Airtime.
This one's an absolute stomper and peak hour pumper that's driven by the melodic rave stabs.

(25:59):
Perfect Lie will come up after that by Murder He Wrote. It's an athletic rhythm release from August 22.
This one is Off Murder He Wrote's latest EP, The Connections EP. It's a great festive track with constant energy and catchy sampling.
The Funk Junk by Kristen Velvet from October 4 will close out the set.

(26:22):
But right now, let's move to Win Your Love by Jason Hurd, Nightlab, and Kathy Brown released on July 19 with Bohemian Disco.
Don't go away, the Nova 10 Top 5 Hottest Tracks Across All EDM Genres is coming up. I'll also share how you could win a $100 Amazon E-Gift card just in time for the holidays.

(27:01):
We should have done it for love

(27:31):
Oh

(28:31):
That gets caught up, oh
Ooh, what a desire
I wish I won't give up, no
I could give you everything, all of me
All of me
Give me, give me, give me, give me
Give me all you got

(28:53):
I fight for this love
I fight for this love
Try it, try it, try to win your love
What you're trying to do
Try my fight for this love
Baby I'm trying to win, yeah
Try it, try it, try to win your love
I'm trying, I'm trying

(29:17):
Every day I'm trying to win your love
Try it, try to win your love
My love, the angels have gone
They've gone
Ol' lady, I don't like any of ya
But these ladies did not come to play
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

(29:38):
Oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah

(30:06):

I'm trying to win your love
Win your love
I'm trying
I'm trying
I'm trying to win your love

(30:28):
Yeah
You know what I'm saying
When times are
Slow
And I'm trying to find my way
But when I find something that's
Special and right
Oh, yeah

(30:50):

all the birds, all the birds, I'm burning up right now.

(36:02):
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out.

(36:30):
Alright, need your back.
Let's go.
Who wants some more?
Starline's like the Energizer button, man.
Alright, let's go.

(37:01):
Alright, let's go.

(37:23):
Alright, let's go.
Alright, let's go.

(38:07):
Alright, let's go.

(38:32):
Alright, let's go.
Alright, let's go.

(39:02):
Alright, let's go.
Thanks for tuning in.

(39:30):
I appreciate you.
Stick around.
Top 5 coming up.
And now, the number 10 top 5 tracks of the month.

(40:09):
Let's kick off this month's top 5 with Lily Palmer's Hype Boy as it takes hold of the
number 5 spot.
The record dropped on October 11th on Armada Music Contour Records.
The production is dynamic and at full throttle with the focus on the compelling melody and
driving rhythms.
I especially love the hard style energy Lily is bringing to this techno track, doing justice

(40:31):
to the sounds, thick bass, and dope effects of the genre.
Hype Boy is a high energy dance floor anthem that is sure to get you moving at the drop
of the bass.
Lily Palmer is currently touring her fall winter North American tour and is keeping
the masses entertained through New Year's Day.
Nothing by Will Sparks is number 4 this month.

(41:15):
This is a Clubwork Teamwork Records release that dropped on October 11th.
I really enjoy the changes throughout this record from a heavy vibe to a more ethereal
trance experience.
The melody gradually evolves, building tension and anticipation, which is something I live
for.
Nothing is a deeply atmospheric and introspective track that invites the listener to get lost

(41:37):
in its powerful soundscape.
Will Sparks just got off touring Australia and Asia last month and can be spotted next
on his North American tour starting November 15th right here in New York City baby.
Coming in at number 3 is LF System with Meet Me in the Middle released on October 4th from

(42:19):
Ministry of Sound Recordings.
This song is an up tempo dance number with a warm and rich vibe that adds value to the
fullness of this production.
The vocals are delivered in a soulful and emotive style as the singer pleads with her
partner to meet in the middle and take their relationship to the next level.
LF System's coffee table session live from about blank London is finally on YouTube and

(42:43):
if you happen to be in the UK there's plenty of chances to catch the Scottish duo on their
all night long tour kicking off November 22nd in Manchester.

(43:18):
At number 2 is Do Da Da by Tiesto and Goldshare featuring Irina Rhymes released on Feng Shui
Musical Freedom on October 4th.
I love that the melody is catchy and memorable with a simple progression that's easy to
sing along to.
Overall the record is playful and has an energetic rhythm and vibe.

(43:38):
By the end the lyrics Do Da Da and the enticing hook will be stuck in your head.
Irina Rhymes' vocal performance is smooth, expressive and confident which really conveys
the song's upbeat and celebratory mood.
Overall the song has been well received by fans and critics gaining major buzz online
since its release.

(44:03):
So who's at number 1 this month?

(44:28):
You guessed right.
It's Medusa and Hala with Another World.
They're performing on September 13th on Universal Island Records, the Italian producers that
are Medusa take charge on this single allowing Hala to soar as she does what she does best.
I really love Hala's vocals on this one giving a free spirited fly high kind of vibe.

(44:51):
Overall the record is extremely catchy and deserves to be on repeat.
It's short and sweet and I kind of wish it was longer but nevertheless the song packs
the punch we look for in a memorable dance song.
Before the year's out Medusa is set to make tour stops in Washington DC, Tokyo, Dubai,

(45:11):
Nashville, Gisborne and Atlantic City.
Hala is currently on the road with Kaigo.
And that wraps things up for now.
Hope you've been enjoying the mix thus far.
It's been locked right here for next month's Nova 10 Top 5 tracks of the month.

(45:40):
I hope you enjoyed my picks across all EDM subgenres and who has my attention right now.
If there is a track that's absolutely blowing your mind right now shoot it over to me with
the track info at nova10mixshow.gmail.com and I'll see about including it on a future

Good luck everyone.
Okay, let's get back to the mix.
I'm going to wrap things up with 4 more records and then I'm out of here.

(46:53):
Coming up is Good For You by Luke Van Dake and Kulter from September 13th.
As you may know this was number 2 on last month's top 5 tracks of the month.
I'm still in love with this record for the same exact reasons and just have to drop it
in this last mix.
After that is Carla Prather's Good With It, Richard Earnshaw on the Extended mix that

(47:17):
was released on October 11th.
Circulate will follow by Mathias Kaden released on Reekids September 27th.
The German producer returns to Reekids with the 4 track Circulate EP following his 2022
Blackbird release on the label.
It'll be a good one to end the episode.

(47:39):
And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to kick off this last set with this episode's
throwback song Synth and Strings by Yo-Manda released back in July 1999 on Mercury Records.

(48:45):
Where my disco heads at?
Put on those I love disco shirts.

(49:13):
We're going to do this like it was 1978.
Let's do it.

(49:45):
Let's do it.

(50:07):
Just flat loose to this one.

It's just like a locomotion.
Can't stop the moving, grooving to the beat.

(52:00):
If you feel sad and lonely and you got nothing to do.
I know the feeling baby, baby.
I know what's good for you.
Yeah, I'm really into this one.

(52:28):
You know there are two sides to every story.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Number10 playing the best house music on the planet.
This one just takes over.
Woo!
Kicking in the beat.
If you feel sad and lonely and you got nothing to do.

(52:54):
I know the feeling baby, baby.
I'll make it good for you.
Now, now, now, now.
Yeah, yeah, now, now, now.
Right now, yeah.

(53:17):
Kicking in the beat.
You know I know, I know the feeling baby.

For you, for you, for you, for you, for you, for you.

(53:39):
Woo, woo, woo, woo.
Now it's time.
Let's go.

(54:01):
Now I'm all filled with emotion.
I can't back out now cause I'm in it too deep.
Just like I'm over motion.
Can't stop the moving, moving, moving.
Cheer it up.
Uh-huh, uh-huh.

(54:37):
I like the music on me.
I'm good with it.
Hey, you see me, you stare.
Know you've seen me somewhere.
Wondering what's to me, what makes my heart beat.

(54:58):
I bet you think this could be destiny.
Smile, I sigh.
Something happened when we met eye to eye.
Now we're both thinking that there could be something to this.
If that's the truth then baby let me do this.
I'm good, I'm good, good with it.

(55:22):
Are you good with it?
I'm good, I'm good, good with it.
I'm good, I'm good, so good with it.

If anyone wastes your time or mine.

(56:09):
Being vague or uncertain just won't do.
Need to know what's on your mind.
I'm good with good vibes.
Instead of living life feeling secure.
You'll know that I'm yours.

(56:41):
