(01:10):
the pack. Good evening everybody, and
welcome to another podcast session, Tabletop Live Play here
at D&D 721. My name is Mud.
I am the Dungeon Master for thistwo shot called Grave Concerns,

(01:34):
and I am rejoined by 5 very spooky players here on the night
before Halloween. Believe it or not, we're playing
the night before Halloween. If you're listening to this, the
spooky season's already over. You're moving on to
Thanksgiving. But that's OK, we're enjoying it
right now. So for this episode, my spooky
players, could you please introduce yourselves and your

(01:57):
characters? Hello everyone, Marcosi here
playing Nordstrom Soul Veil, a level 6 fighter elf with a
personality of a tree stone. Yes, so that's why I'm playing
tonight. Hello everyone, this is Couch

(02:20):
adventures coming back with Felathe Moon Shard, a level 6 high
health fighter. I am excited to continue
learning in this air affair, so I'll stare with me in the.
This is Jazzis. Playing Suji Toshiko the Drunken
Master, a variant human monk andyeah.

(02:41):
Also also looking forward to seeing where this goes.
This is tabby cow. I'm playing a very spooky veil
with Martel. I am fame Nancy Wizard.
And this cryptotherapist back playing Brios Dragonstone again,
a Dragonborn lyric. They're very special.

(03:02):
Dragonborn clerk that stands at work.
Yes, they are fantastic to everybody and welcome all.
Let's just do a quick recap to re familiarize ourselves with
where we are. You all are a group of
mercenaries or adventurers working together in a group of

(03:23):
five. And you all found yourself in
the southern little bigger than a village, little smaller than a
city, a a little southern town called Bracksboro.
And while down in Bracksboro, there were some rumblings and
some frustration and complaints coming from the graveyard and

(03:47):
the Imperial Governor Kendall Brack asked the five of you to
go to the Lowborn Cemetery wherereports of grave digging and
grave robbing was taking place. The five of you, after giving my
very annoying, very pompous Governor Brack a hard time, the

(04:11):
five of you hit a Tavern. You loaded up on some spirits
and a little bit of information from the dwarven Tavern keeper
and then you headed out of town N out of town towards the
cemetery. Along the way some misty spirits
were rising up out of the graveyard, very clearly
obviously disturbed and upset spirits, and you started to find

(04:37):
a number of opened graves and then in those graves a number of
grave robbers. This then broke out into a
gnarly battle between you and the grave robbers who had a
freestanding cannon and they were fighting and threw a

(04:57):
mixture of spells and drunken martial arts and other things.
You were able to dispatch of them as well as a stalking
creature that was in the river itself that also came up out of
the depths to attack the five ofyou that was our sponsor, the

(05:17):
last episode from Walden McCoy, and the five of you were able to
defeat the creature and all of the grave robbers, leaving none
of them alive to answer any questions despite their begging
and pleading to be allowed to live.
You slayed them all and then instead you were able to raise

(05:39):
dead, speak with dead, and get afew answers on cover.
A few clues about the caskets that were open and empty.
You did find the dead graveyard keeper whom the dwarf at the
Tavern had mentioned, and you realized that the grave robbers

(06:04):
were opportunists who were looking through the graves
trying to find valuables. But they did not seem to be the
cause of the graves being openedup.
And you found a number of tracksleading further north, further
away from the low born peasant graveyard and towards the

(06:26):
catacombs where the upper class are entombed.
And that is where we are now, the five of you.
The map is open, you have the dead corpses of the grave
robbers around you, plus the onerobber captain who is now raised

(06:51):
by the necromancer of your group, Vaileth, and is, I
believe, sworn to or bound to Nithra.
Or maybe I'm remembering that incorrectly, but they.
Oh, no, That that that's correct.
Yeah. Nithra, he's following me, yes.

(07:11):
So I will open it up to the fiveof you.
You know, you can see looming inthe darkness the mountain up
ahead to the north where the catacombs lie.
I. I asked my zombie friend here if
he knows anything about these catacombs or seen any saying

(07:31):
when he came to rob the graveyard.
Yeah, he he turns and looks at you.
His eyes are ghostly pale in hisraised dead state.
And his mouth opens and he says, yeah, we went and looked, but we
couldn't find a way in. I mean, you couldn't use a door.

(07:54):
Are you that? Oh, you couldn't get things?
That's true. OK, well, there must be a door
somewhere, guys, and this guy just can't find it.
I say we go look for it. Can you speak with the the dwarf
was it was? Dead when we found him, right?
Yes, Keeper. Yep.
OK, He was in the shack from from the medicine checks a

(08:19):
couple of you did. He had some holes in him, but
whether those were bullet holes, arrow holes or something else,
nobody was quite sure if somebody else would like to
you're still in that general area.
If anybody else would like to investigate his little shack,
you are welcome to studio will go over and take a look at the

(08:40):
the dwarf. Absolutely give me a If you're
looking specifically at the dwarf, I would ask for a
medicine check, or if you just want to kind of explore the
shack itself, you can give me aninvestigation.
OK. Yeah, I'll, I'll.
Just I'll do a medicine check onthe door, see if he's it's
possible to still save him. It's an adjusted. 14 OK with a

(09:04):
14, he is dead. He's very dead.
He has been dead at least for a while.
But what you see are a number ofholes in him.
With a 14. You can see the holes are not
arrow holes or bullet holes or something that pierced into him.

(09:29):
It almost looks like something came out the other way.
Oh, oh boy. OK.
I'll just still say to everybodyelse.
He is a dead ethnically long time strange markings on him
look like come from inside. Oh yes, Suji.

(09:54):
No, understand. It's also interesting.
Suji, you, you notice that in the holes, some of them are
very, very small, like the size of a almost like a pinprick
almost or like a, like a, a quill might have stabbed them.
And some of the holes are larger.

(10:15):
They're they're bigger round andgaping.
So so you'll just kind of point out those are these distinctions
that he's been able to kind of pick up on, but he'll turn to
they list and say, can you speakto him?
Perhaps he can tell us. How to get into catacombs?
Oh, I've never spoken to the dead before.

(10:36):
So what's up, Jayla? Not Taylor's.
I'm going to cast each extension.
OK, you cast speak to dead and his eyes open and the eyes look
around and then settle on you. Vaileth.

(10:59):
I look at him, say hello tablet.Oh well, this is new, I can't
move and. You're not supposed to.
Me and a couple of these people would like to ask you some
questions. OK, I'll answer as best I can if
you're willing to answer some ofmy questions.

(11:23):
Possibly. Am I dead?
Yes, you see, you are very sorry.
Oh boy. For a long time.
Too long, long time. Oh well, Mother saved me.
OK. OK, can you bring me back to
life? No, no, you got to answer our

(11:46):
questions, buddy. OK, I'm happy to answer anything
you want, but you know, I would really like, you know, to not be
dead. Well, I would really like to
know how to get into the catacombs.
Can't share that. Yes, you can.
You you should do that. They're sealed.

(12:08):
So we just break the door. It's a man.
Good luck, little human. I'm an elf.
Good luck a little elf. You're you're even more
hopeless. You're a dead dwarf, so let's
not criticize here. Is there other ways into this
place? You say it's sealed, but I mean,

(12:31):
something's going on in there. There has to be a way.
Well, I'll tell you, the last thing I remember is going to bed
in my bed, and then next thing Iknow I'm feeling all of these
stabbing pains all over my body and that's the last thing I
remember. Were they inward stabs or
outward stabs? You know, that's interesting.

(12:55):
It was both. Well, that don't make no sense,
does it? Listen, Bob, listen no.
Under like indigestion. I mean, I've eaten a spot of bad
cheese before, it was nothing like that.
So did you have a parasite in? You do you have a parasite in
you? I don't know.

(13:16):
I, I just, I was asleep and thenI woke up and then I was dead
and then I woke up and now you're all making fun of me
laying on the ground here. He he looks at Vaileth and he
says no, but really like you, you could you, you, I, you know,
my, my soul is in Mortivus River.
But if you brought my body to a temple in town, you you could

(13:38):
probably resurrect me, right? But we could try, but first we
must find a way into catacombs. If you can help us with.
We can. Bring your body back.
We're not going to take your body back then we can't
resurrect you. See, that's what I'm saying.

(13:59):
I mean just. Tell us how to get in.
OK, well, I don't actually. I know where it is, but you
know, I tend to the graveyard, not the catacombs.
I know that it's north of here, and I know there's a door and I
know that there's a way through the door, but that's not exactly

(14:21):
information that they share withlowly gravediggers on how to get
in. And good thing there we killed
all the lowly gravediggers, so you can tell us now.
Wait, you're saying you killed me?
No, the grave diggers. Yeah, that's me.
The grape robbers. Grabbers, I mean.

(14:44):
Oh, I wish I was alive. If I found grave robbers in my
graveyard, I'd split their headsin two.
Too late, too late. We did that.
So there's a way into this catacombs, Yes.
And they told you how to do it. No, they did.
Not. They did.
They had to. You take care of the place.
I take care of the lower class graveyards, I dig the holes and

(15:06):
I put the dead bodies in them. I was.
Seeing. If he's lying to us, give.
Me an insight check. How about a 5 + 7 for 12?
With a 12 you're you're convinced he's telling the
truth, or at least he is tellinghis version of the truth as best

(15:29):
he can. Can I do Can K?
Let's do medallion of thoughts. Yeah, I think I should work on a
corpse that has speak with dead activated on it.
He has to do a role for that I believe.
Or no, you can do surface level thoughts.
Yes, so low rank one is surface low, there is a save DC-13.

(15:53):
OK, well he ruled the 19 so thoughts.
You definitely are picking up a lot of rising panic.
I'm dead, I'm dead. Something killed me.
I want to know what killed me. I want revenge.
These assholes are not agreeing to bring me back to life.

(16:13):
What kind of heroes are these? A lot of like kind of jumbled
and mixed thoughts of selfish concern and some rising disdain
for the group questioning him ashe lies dead on the floor.
And Caleb looks at him and says, how are you feeling about your

(16:34):
death? That it came much too soon.
I'm only 120 years old. I should not be dead.
Are. You the type of person who would
like revenge. Yes, I certainly would.
What if we guarantee that revenge?
Can you show us how to get in there?
I I would get you into the catacombs if I could.

(16:58):
I would go with you. If I was alive, I would do
whatever I could to try and help.
But they really didn't tell me how to get in.
The upper class handles the catacombs.
I just handle the lowly graveyard.
I just tend to the trees and thearrangements and the landscaping

(17:20):
outside of the catacombs outsidethe mountain.
Have you? Part of the reason that they
seal it is because it's damned dangerous in there it.
Flocks a little bit. He rolls his eyes.
He's dead eyes. Well, if it's if it's the
flexing us, you need to get up to town, turn in her hands, get

(17:41):
her gold and then bastard to go and sustain catacombs.
We could do. We could do that.
Or. It's the first option the DM
hasn't heard dude. True.
The one option the DM fears. We should at least go and see

(18:05):
these these entrance and see if we can find the way in.
First dead dwarf guy. Have you seen anyone enter the
royal atacombs? Whatever.
Scene with my own eyes. No.
Every now and then, you know, a a group will pass through the

(18:29):
the lower graveyard here on their way to the catacombs.
They often check in with me and I bid them condolences.
And then they make their way up to the catacombs.
You see, they're, they're very private.
They're very secretive about whocan be buried up there and who
and when and for what reasons and which families and all of
these things. And only the elite of Brexboro

(18:53):
get buried in the catacombs. And that is why they don't share
it with me. That's why they don't allow
others to know the ways to enterthe catacombs where they're
where they're, you know, their, their families are buried.
They don't want others learning how to get in there.

(19:13):
Now were these people that checkin with you?
Did they carry anything out the ordinary and or have any symbols
out the ordinary? He just says no, they, I mean,
I, I might be out of the ordinary to you, they always
have a dead body or two, but to me that's pretty normal.

(19:34):
No, that's it. That seems normal.
Yeah. I'm out of ideas.
I'd say we look at the catacombsunless anyone else wants to talk
to the store. Yeah, I think we should just go
up there and see if we can find the door and try.
To figure out a way. In maybe there's more than one
entrance there. Well, after you go, look, if you

(19:55):
could, you know, on your way back, pick up my body and take
me back to town. I would love to be alive again.
I told the guy that's following me around to pick up the dead
dwarf and carry him and say we're not done with you yet.
You're coming, Wes. Oh yippee.

(20:17):
Yeah, he he has to has to do it.The He Crave robber picks up the
dwarf. The acid suji.
He's carrying him. These are neither of these are
concentration spells. Velith is just able to do both

(20:37):
as a necromancer. Suji, I'll go to him and says.
I will bring you back to town after we are.
We are finished here, do not worry.
Well, you know, if I could move, shake your hand.
I'll do Joe, just. Uncork a bit of his his whiskey
that he got in town and take a take a decent swig and just

(20:57):
like. You know, kind of.
Motion towards the the dead dwarf, but he's like.
I pour some photo respect to you.
Yeah, you, you, you get the sense that he wants to nod or
bow or do something, but all he can do is blink and says thank.
You OK? We, we, we go now.

(21:18):
All right, are we heading up to the catacombs?
Let's go. Let's go.
All right. It does not take long and they
are also not very hard to find. There's actually a pretty well
traveled path that leads from the graveyard further north
towards the step of the mountainand the surrounding landscape.

(21:40):
It is that mix of cultivated trees.
They're pruned, they're kept nice.
And the closer and closer you'regetting to the mountain, the
less and less wild it is, and the less and less like kind of
natural flora, fauna. And the closer you get, the more
you're seeing flower beds and garden beds and more pristinely

(22:02):
kept nice beds of ornate trees and swaths of flowers.
But everything is colder than itshould be, and all of the garden
beds had a bunch of tall flowersand decorative plants that have

(22:23):
all wilted and withered. So instead everything is bent
over, petals covering the groundaround them, and without having
to look around, you do see two sconces that are burning
brightly, probably by arcane means, and they are placed on
either side of a large marble door.

(22:47):
Is it just like a flat like marble slab essentially?
Or I have a little visual aid for all of you.
I'm going to post it into the main telegram here.
It is very ornately carved out of the stone of the mountain
itself, and it's in the shape ofwhat would be double doors.

(23:09):
But down the center of the slab are 4 stone dials.
Now, each of the four dials actually has four symbols on
them, and they're cut perfectly into even quarters.
So 4 dials. Each dial has four images.

(23:33):
Would somebody like to give me an investigation check?
I can. Go for it.
I don't something team. Fantastic.
So looking at it, you can see that the four dials are some
kind of combo mechanism there. There's some way to align the

(23:55):
four dials in order to basicallyunlock the catacombs.
This is, and the dwarf speaks upand he says, well, this is what
I was referring to. There's there, there's a
safeguard on the door here. And it, it, it is what prevents

(24:16):
anybody from just entering the catacombs of their, their
descendants and their, you know, their, their past loved ones.
And as you're looking, there areon each of the four dials,
there's four symbols and there'swriting across the top of the
door as well. The door itself says, in life we

(24:37):
rose by station, in death we rise by merit.
And on each of the four dials, there is a image of an anvil,
there's an image of a crown, there's an image of a plow.
And there's an image of like a like a Ledger, like a scroll

(24:57):
with a pen and ink. I asked the George if the
symbols relate to any of the families buried in this
catacombs. He the the grave robber like
flips him around so that he can look at the door and he says,
well, no, not specifically, no. What's the history behind this

(25:24):
catacombs? Like the cat Home was at about
the same time that Braxborough became a larger city, and when
when richer folks moved in, theywanted a more prestigious and
private place to bury their dead.
Oh, do you know if there's any trap mechanism on the store?

(25:46):
I would count on it, yes. Any ideas guys?
So veyless with your investigation you can see that
the the the stone dials they canall be rotated.
Yeah, I think we have to rotate them and, but the question is

(26:06):
which direction, which order? Now, yeah, that's the question.
And does when you rotated the change.
Are we trying to change the symbol order or the direction
symbols face? So all of the symbols will face
the same way. They all face outward from the
center. So at any time when a symbol on

(26:30):
a dial is in the upright position, it's it's right side
up. So if it's if it's at the top of
the stone dial, that's when you rotate it.
That's the kind of in that that indicates it's the kind of like
chosen symbol for that dial. So OK, so each So to clarify,

(26:54):
each dial is the same symbol, same 4 symbol?
Yeah, well, so on one die it hasall four symbols.
Correct, all four dyes have all four symbols.
It's a question of rotating themso that they are in the correct

(27:14):
order. OK.
And then? I'm sure it has to do with the
saying on the top, so you need to have to go from crown up or
crown down. Right.
So it's. Staging.
Wow, the Angel, the Ledger, the crown.
The question is what's the orderthat I think the DM slipped and

(27:37):
says the image will be facing right side up if it's the right.
They any way that you rotate thedial, it's right side up based
on the top quarter of how it's rotated.
So the crown might be when when the crown is in the top position
on the dial, it's right side up.If the crown was all the way on

(28:01):
the bottom, the crown would be upside down and something,
whatever is across from the crown, like the anvil would be
right side up. They all are facing right side
up away from the center of the dial where you rotate it.
So any of them can be right sideup as long as you rotate it so
that it's in the top position, OK.

(28:24):
So yeah, you. Start with the crown at the
bottom and work your way up. Well, I I think it's the other
way because you start as a lowlyfarmer at the bottom, then you
get to be a tradesman and then amoney man, and then he who rules
them all at the top. Right, but then it also says by

(28:49):
with death you go by virtue. Oh.
I would suggest after the fact like that's how you got here,
but assuming it's catacombs, you're all dead.
It's going to go the other one. What a good point, good point.
Potentially, I don't know, I could be wrong, but Stoner.
No, I I like that thinking. I was not thinking of that.

(29:11):
I don't know, up to you guys. Yeah, I think it's something
about like and what represents life, what represents station,
whatever since death and then what represents virtue that.
That's. My my take on it, but I don't
know if that's correct at all. Oh, that's another good take.
What does, What does we rose thystation mean?

(29:36):
What is? The like the first station is a
peasant, and then he became a nobleman, and then he became a
king. He rose through the stations of.
Like your like your status, likethe society class.
Yeah, right, right. Well, we can try one and see

(29:58):
what happens. Who wants to be brave and and
rotating? Turn the dials.
Which way are we doing at night?Chant.
We can make my little serving doit.
Yes. If we don't, if we don't have
made chain, let's let the servants do it.

(30:19):
I told to put the dwarf down andtell him the order of what we
want a lot of symbols to be and to turn them.
Yeah. Not staying a ways back and
takes the defense. Action OK the grave robber sets
down the dwarf and walks up to the door and he goes OK what am

(30:41):
I doing? Which way do we want to try
first guys? Let's experiment.
Am I understanding correctly? Like moved up and to the anvil?
Like to the top left. So they're they're in a straight
line. So if you wanted the anvil to be
at the top, you could rotate thetop dial to the anvil.
I think first let's try death atthe OR the crown at the bottom,

(31:06):
then Ledger the anvil, then the plow.
Yeah, that sounded right. Found the anvil plow.
What was that tabby? You're you're doing Ledger anvil
plow. Brown Ledger and.
Yeah. OK, so from the top to the

(31:27):
bottom, you're going the plow, the anvil, the Ledger, the
crown, right? OK, the he grave robber rotates
them into position and he startsto push on the door.
When all four are in the position you you tell him to and

(31:50):
the torches on either side of the door flare and explode
outward. Who?
Who said they were standing backin a defensive position?
Cryos. OK, Cryos, you get to give me a
Dexterity save with advantage. Everybody else Dexterity saving

(32:13):
throws. Playlist rolls a 16.
Kraus gets a 19. Thank you.
Advantage. Suji rolled.
A12. I got a 13.
OK, I got a 14. Veilis meets it, beats it.

(32:34):
I think the only person who failed here was Suji with a 12.
So everybody takes 6 points of fire damage and Suji takes 12
points of fire damage. And the grave robber is lit up

(32:55):
like a candle and he turns around and looks at all of you,
his corpse burning. And he says this sucks and
collapses the in the dirt. Yes, yes, that does.
We want you to do more. All.
Right, let's give him. Back to life Let's bring him

(33:16):
back to life Round 2. You guys put out the flames on
his corpse and are you raising dead again?
That's up to Felix. She's the one with the spell
slots to consider. You guys just killed him again.
Died on his own. But we learned more about this

(33:38):
puzzle. OK I just think we need to leave
him alone and let him earn to Jed alone.
He's already Jed burn because I'm not bringing him back.
He's in burnt Corp snow and we need to now know that if we fuck
up the puzzle that this will happen so.
The dwarf says please don't let me burn to ash, I want to be

(33:59):
brought back to life. Can you tell us how to open this
door or not? I.
Really can't and I wish I could.And I wish I could bring you
back to life, but I can't, so just sit there.
He's just like this is awful, this is the worst.
What? What did we do when we did crown

(34:20):
Ledger anvil plow? Is that what we did?
We did plow from top to bottom. We did plow anvil Ledger crowns.
Oh, so that's what we did, and that didn't work.
Yes. So should we try reverse?
Then we should. Should we reverse it?
Crown Ledger anvil plow then because we did plow first, so

(34:42):
then should we do crown first? Yeah, I think I'm willing to try
it. I'll I'll spin them in that
direction. So you're taking a long step
back. This.
Time. OK, yes, I'm going to get not a
great. Shots too.

(35:03):
Who? Who?
Is trying to take the dog direction.
I will. OK.
So just to confirm, you're goingcrown at the top, then the
Ledger, then the anvil, then theplow?
Correct. You turn the dials and you begin

(35:23):
to push on the door and you heara loud grinding click and with a
puff of sandy stale air the double wide doors slowly swing
inward and the catacombs aren't open to you.
We got the guys not. Bad.

(35:47):
I mean, too bad for that guy, but hey, science.
We learned lost for how easy gotlost.
We were right after all. Bark.
Bonus experience for getting it on your second try I.
I liked your thinking that deaths line in there kind of
made sense doing it in reverse. Yeah, I could have definitely

(36:11):
went either way, but sorry aboutthat damage.
I'll heal you, don't worry. Give me a Somebody give me a
history check A. Lift is +4 in the plus. 5.
I can do it. Give us.

(36:31):
I have a 23. Nice.
You know that's that's appropriate, Vaileth as a as a
necromancer, you've seen this kind of stuff before.
Now that the answer is obvious, despite the words at the top of
Rising by virtue, you get the sense that the upper class of

(36:53):
these Empire families believe that they belong at the top not
only because of their station inlife, but they still belong at
the top in death, because if they were buried in a catacomb
like this, they obviously deserve to be at the top.

(37:18):
So despite the humble nature of the writing, it is still based
in a very selfish and conceited nature which is rampant among
Empire upper class. Well, I take a step in and want
to see what's going on in this damn catacomb.

(37:43):
Okie doke you all I I do need toknow the the doors are double
wide so you can go in rows of two or single file but I would
like to know what order you are all going in.
I think as doors open and I saidhey guys, we did it, I would
just step in. OK.
And as a soldier, Caleb follows quickly.

(38:03):
Beyond or with them. Yeah, I can go to.
The front. I would be.
In the back in the. Middle or so, Yeah.
So, OK, so we've got Nithra in the front and Vaileth in the
back. OK.
As you enter, it is dim inside. There are more of those burning

(38:26):
torches along the walls, definitely magically lit and
magically sustained in some way.But the air inside is freezing,
frigid cold. Like it almost like when you
step out into a really, really dry winter day and you can feel
the inside of your nostril like freeze in place, like your

(38:50):
boogers freeze in your nose. It's it's almost like that.
It just hits your skin. It almost hurts.
Your sinuses are freezing up despite being inside the
mountain with these torches burning.
And there's a long hallway that the five of you move down, and

(39:14):
then it branches into AT There'sa hall to the right, a hall to
the left, and there's the hall that continues straight ahead
with another set of large doors deeper into the catacombs.
Nithra, could you please give mea, we'll call it a perception

(39:39):
check? Well, it's 11, but it's also a
gnat 1. OK, Nat 1 is a Nat 1 is a Nat
one. Nithra.
You are rubbing at your eyes. You're you're very preoccupied
with how cold it is and how uncomfortable it is, and you

(40:04):
absolutely do not notice the very obviously discolored tile
on the floor. As you step fully onto it, could
everybody please give me some new Dexterity throws please?
Kayla throws an 8. Sequence 12.

(40:26):
I'm 13. 16 from Suji. Kraus kutsu. 18 OK Kaylith is
the only one who fails. As you're moving down the
hallway, you notice Nithra that the tile that you stepped on
sinks under your foot, and you hear the loud clack and

(40:49):
ratcheting of old gears suddenlyturning and Everybody being
heroes at level 6, you. You know the sound of a trap
when you've sprung one. Everybody starts to twist,
dodge, hit the deck, whatever you decide to do.
And Taylor, you're the only one as a a number of double sided

(41:12):
spinning blades come zipping outfrom a crevice in the walls
through the hallway. They're like double sided
spinning little daggers, almost kind of like shurikens or you
know, like ninja stars. And everybody dodges and takes
no damage from this trap. And Kaylith, you take eight

(41:36):
points of slashing damage. 9 used to mine to add a roll.
Absolutely you can't. You rolled A1.
Yeah, so total of 9 now, which I'm sure still fails.
That still fails, I'm afraid. Yeah, you.
Yep, 8 damage. You feel as a couple of these
blades, a couple of them like chip and dink off your armor,

(42:00):
but a couple like lodge into theshoulder between the plates of
your arm and your chest piece and one like jams into your hip
and you find Nithra. As you all get back up, the
stone tile clicks back up into place.
I was, I was trying to say did would Suji see have enough time

(42:21):
to see this coming down at who was it again?
It was Nithra. Yep.
Would he be able? To react in time to possibly
deflect the attack kind of thing, or redirect this attack.
Let's see, what was our order? So you, you've got cryos between

(42:44):
you and Kalith. So if you guys were next to each
other, I might give to you. But with, with cryos in between
the two of you, you were a little too far away.
OK, makes sense. I I like the idea.
And Tammy Taylor theme of the sense of wing or is that does
that all mean bad? Nope, you can use that anytime
you want. All right, I'm going to roll for

(43:05):
you. It's one D 10 + 6 for a total of
9. So I'm getting back on HP.
All right, it's like it never happened.
I put my hand on Kayla's shoulder and just says remember.
Reality bends where curiosity stares too long.
My friend and I go back to walking.

(43:31):
Good advice. One question I forgot to ask, is
anybody still carrying the dwarfor did you leave him outside I.
Think we left? Him we left that.
For behind says I'll be here, I guess.
As I stated, the doors told behind you when when I walked in

(43:51):
last. Yeah, I am going to say you you
heard him shouting that as the doors click shut behind you.
OK, so we had three ways we can go from here.
Yep, there's the path straight ahead.
There's. A dead a dead end to the left
and a dead end to the right. Oh, dead ends, we can see that.

(44:12):
You can, as all all 5 of you cankind of fit in this
intersection. Everybody now making sure to
stay clear of the, you know, trapped tile, but you can see
that there's two dead ends on either sides and you can see
plaques are lined along the walls.
There are also sealed stone slabs that are like built into

(44:40):
the wall itself. Common sense would tell all 5 of
you these are in the catacombs. These are places where bodies
are probably buried and a hallway probably belongs to one
family or another. Could everybody please give me a
quick perception check? Now guys, not saying we become

(45:04):
grave robbers. These people are rich.
We might know what. Nithra and Velus with a 17 and a
19. You both can see at the end of
the hallway to the right there, there's the there's the sealed

(45:25):
stone slabs where the dead are buried along the wall at about
hip height. But down at the end of the dead
end to the right, there is a small shrine, like I said
before, family hallway. There is a signia, an emblem
that's at the end of the hall. And there's a little shelf

(45:45):
that's at the end of the hall, Nithra.
You see something glint in the torchlight and they lift.
From where you're standing you can see it's a diamond.
Well, I head towards this littleshrine and this glint of
something that I see. Yeah, there there's a, it's a,
like I said, it's a small shrineand there's the shelf.

(46:07):
You also see there's like some incense that are long since
burned to ash. There's a couple of gold coins
that are stacked on one corner. And there is just this pristine,
flawless, gleaming Gray white diamond.
Yeah, it's golden. That's.

(46:29):
Mine. I'm walking towards it.
It's down at the end of the hallway, unless somebody else
wants to also go down the hallway to the right.
I package it gold and say this is mine but.
I'm sorry, can you what? Should I trust home person?

(46:53):
Yeah, you're casting it on Nithra.
Yeah. For the listeners and for
Nithra, what what is the spell hold per second?
It is choose a humanoid that youcan see within range.
The target must succeed on a wizard saving saving throw or

(47:14):
have the paralyzed condition from the duration for the
duration. Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't
realize that at the end of each of this terms, the target
repeats the saving, ending the spell on itself on its its
thefts. I can't, I'm sorry, a success.
OK. What's my DCI?
Can also target on a higher spell slot, which I would say I

(47:37):
can also target one additional humanoid per each spell slot
level above 2. It's ADC 14 to save wisdom,
saving throat. How about a 7?
So I fail. Could you describe to us as
Nithra goes to to swipe some coins off the platform, what

(48:00):
does Veilis think and and do as she cast this spell on her on on
her fellow adventurer? I'm as we're walking both and I
see her reach out. I say absolutely not and I just
pull like my hand out and I say Chaz and then I say we do not

(48:22):
chase on the dead. This is theirs, this is for
their family, and this is for them to treasure when they are
here. I can hear them speak and they
really say they want me to have this gold.
I can hear this. People needed, not I.
Was going to say give me a disruption check if you were
saying that seven it is not convincing Suji's a little bit

(48:52):
surprised he he was kind of expecting to see or yeah veyless
eat the diamond out of out of his band and but he's like I.
Didn't think he'll put a diamondI went from.
Skip on gold. It's enough to chop the heads
off of the dead bodies. He will not steal anything else

(49:13):
from the dead. I haven't stolen anything.
I merely found some gold on the shelf.
Now if it was on their bodies, I'd be like I'm stealing from
the dead, but it would only openthe dead bodies and taken from
them. I'm not a grave robber.
I said that earlier. Said I'm not suggesting we
become grave robbers. Read early, that's why I did it.

(49:37):
Is anybody else doing anything or checking out the other
hallways or stepping in between Velith and Nithra?
Taylith is letting them bicker and keeping watch for any
movement. Yeah, I can maybe look down
adjacent hallway or something. Yeah, yeah.
Not a perception check. Oh nice, 21.

(50:01):
OK, it doesn't take much. You sort of start wandering down
that left hallway and almost immediately you see that one of
the stone slabs that seals shut a where a sarcophagus would go
for one of the upper class to beburied.

(50:22):
It's empty and there is just a like 3 foot by three foot hole
in the wall where the cold air is pouring out of.
And then like can I see into it?You can see some gravel and

(50:48):
rubble. Give me a investigation check
your your perception like it wasnot hard to perceive it.
But give me give me an investigation check to to look
deeper. 16. Yeah, that's good enough.
You can see it's been disturbed. There's gravel, there are some
scrape marks. The sarcophagus, it's the earth

(51:08):
is gone, but the torch light from the hallway that you're
standing in, it is too dark to see further through, but you
feel the coldness gathering hot like colder and colder.

(51:29):
You can see your breath in frontof you and cryos with your 16
investigation. You hear a shuffling sound.
Coming from the hole. Coming from deeper in the hole.
OK, I kind of what, Whisper to whoever is closest to me and say

(51:50):
hey, I'm going to look at. This.
That would be. I don't know who's close.
Or Kayla's or both if if you both want to.
So Suji, well, he's kind of in the middle of looking for any
kind of dirt on the ground that matches the footprint study or
like the claws that he saw out near the graves.
But he'll hear, hear that and come on over kind of it's

(52:14):
quietly as you can and be like in Draconic, he'll say to Cryos.
What is it? You see your breasts here?
Sorry, I didn't mean to mimic June.
You see your breath here? It does.
Yeah. Cold, cold air coming through
and and I hear something throughthe hole, something shuffling

(52:37):
around and look at this grave has been disturbed as well.
Something in there possibly dangerous.
OK, Suji will light a torch and because since he's a human, he
has very hard time seeing in this dark environment.
Suji, could you please give me aDexterity saving throw?

(52:59):
My God. Oh no.
I'm so glad it was. Oh no.
Yeah, that's a nine. Oh you're I'm so glad it was not
a one 2 + 7. You light the torch and you like
get closer to the hole. You get your face up to it and

(53:21):
you're like lifting the torch looking in and through the the
flickering of the flames and thedancing shadows that are waving
and flickering all through this three by three hole.
You see an open space on the other side and you see a

(53:41):
decrepit drawn blue black skin tight face that opens a mouth
and screeches at U2G and you feel something hit you in the
face but I try and deflect this attack.
It's coming out. Yes, I'll, I'll, I'll give you

(54:07):
the opportunity. Well, I'm reading it now.
It says one of that to you. Yeah.
Not a OK, Yeah, yeah, 'cause it it is a saving throw.
But here's what I'll tell you. You feel something hit you in
the face, and at first it doesn't immediately hurt.

(54:28):
OK. You turn and look Cryos and
Kaylith. You see a white wriggling worm
like grub half burrowed into Kaylith's cheek, burrowing this

(54:49):
teeny tiny worm into the skin. You both have an opportunity to
use a reaction to do whatever you would like to do here.
Yates I don't have any reactions.
You you can just like react any way that you want, not not like
a literal reaction. Like.
You can. You can burn it with fire, you

(55:12):
can smack him, you can cut out, you can yell at him, do whatever
you want. It's up to you.
Since I'm right next to them, can I try to?
I don't know, can I try to like attack the worm?
Yeah. Describe.
How you OK? I'm going to do.
I'm going to do shocking grasp on it.

(55:33):
OK. I was going to try to grab it
and just ZAP it so oh I got a 23.
That does it you You grab that worm from where it's trying to
wriggle and Burrow, and this little shocking grasp shoots out
from your fingers and through the worm and it makes a very wet

(55:58):
squelching sound. And Suji's face is covered in
worm guts. That was a close one, not.
The not the dirtiest I have been.
Oh, no problem. I believe it.
Now we get this other thing to deal with.
Yeah, you you hear a scraping, shuffling sound as something is

(56:21):
moving further away from the hole you were looking through,
and then you get a chance to seeit in the torch light before it
threw this worm at me. Did did you get a chance to what
they get a chance to see like what it looked like before that
the worm came flying at my face or was it kind of just you, you

(56:43):
suck the like screaming face of what looked like a corpse.
It was a dead man. It looked like a man did.
We go after it or no? It's tell the others really
quick. All right, sounds good.
So we go inform the others of what has happened and if they

(57:04):
want to see it. So before they get there, I'd
like to do the combined action. OK.
I would like to do telekinetic movement on the diamond while
you did druid craft to make a ghostly sound saying she needs

(57:31):
this diamond, let her. Take the diamond.
As it's flowed since my pocket. OK, Vaileth, are you still there
next to them or or were you distracted by the the screaming
and frantic scraping of. I got distracted, yeah, I got to

(57:52):
definitely got distracted by thescreaming, though.
I would have walked away from her.
No, then I don't use druid craft.
I just used telekinetic movementand put the diamond in my pocket
and you've. Got a diamond in your pocket?
All right, all right. The five of you are there.
You're in the left hallway. It is a dead end.

(58:15):
There is the three by three holein the wall and there are also
the double doors that were straight ahead from where you
entered that do lead deeper intothe.
Catacombs. Well, I don't like small spaces,
so if someone wants to crawl through the hole they're more

(58:35):
than happy to, but I'm going to use the doors.
And then Taylor's take his flow bar out and attempt to make the
hole bigger. Absolutely give me a strength
check with advantage. I was not with the Van Trump.
About two mat 20s. 2 mat 20s yeah.

(58:56):
You make it look like, you know, toppling over a pile of blocks,
you get that crowbar in and you begin unlodging stone by stone,
these giant carved slabs and you're just able to like, muscle
them out like they're, they weigh nothing.
And with that, with a Nat 20 twice, you make a a very sizable

(59:20):
hole that is very easy for anybody to move through and get
to the other side. And before anybody goes through,
you do see from the Souji's torch as well as the other
sconces on the walls. This is not part of the
catacombs. This is something that is behind

(59:41):
the the carved out cultivated hallway of the catacombs.
This is a raw cave deeper in themountain and you can hear the
shuffling and staggering sounds coming from deeper in The Cave.
Hey, let's look something that Throne says is that big enough

(01:00:03):
for? You.
Yes, I think so. Well, yes, yes, it looks like I
can get through. Never mind, We can go this way.
Caleb looks at Veylet and wakes at her.
They just kind of stares at him.Jed Pan.

(01:00:24):
Yeah, Necromancer and cleric. How do the two of you feel about
Catacombs being ripped apart? Yeah, I don't really like it.
I don't really like it. Yeah, I'm not happy.
That's why I'm kind of Jed painting at him.
Like, did you just really do what I saw you did?
It is a train to help. I appreciate it.

(01:00:45):
Thank you so much as I walk through.
OK, you guys are welcome to openthe new map.
As the five of you make your waythrough, you hear more of the
skittering, shuffling sounds andthere's a number of hallways

(01:01:08):
that are open and you are hearing these sounds coming from
the left you. Said we hear it coming from the
left. Yes, there is.
There does appear to be some paths straight ahead and there's
a crook in the path up and to the right.
But the sound that you heard of the like dragging, dragging,

(01:01:31):
shuffling sounds, it is coming from the passage to the left.
Is it big enough for us? Oh yeah, Yep, it's walkable.
I like the. Kayla or torches?
Yeah, everybody can light a torch if they want.
I have dark vision. Yeah, I have a good dark vision
up to 360 feet. Oh, mine's only 60.

(01:01:53):
I think you should need the backend.
I can share some of it with you guys.
Would you like that? I mean, sure, why not?
Let's see, I can share dark vision up with up to 4 willing
creatures for an hour. Who'd you will take?
Let's see. So yeah.
Four, yeah. So if you guys want it, you got

(01:02:15):
it. So you have dark vision out to
300 feet or one hour? Awesome.
Well. Let.
Me. Draw some.
Is there any? Scribbling through all these
notes I had over here. That's great.
Thanks. Great.
Might fall. Is there any downside to night
vision? Like if we suddenly see a bright

(01:02:35):
light doesn't doesn't blind us or anything.
I don't I, you know, like for flavor or DM discretion.
I'm just going to say don't worry about it.
OK, then I'll take it. OK, yeah, so, so just torch out.
And because he's kind of squinting at the light that he's
holding in his hand. But I think this is very

(01:02:57):
convenient. Anything I can do, I am the
therapy after all. I'm here to help.
I would I would take it and not be.
You don't. Rude about it.
Great diaper. OK.
Are you guys moving down that left hallway?

(01:03:17):
Yep. Yeah, anybody can go ahead and
give me some investigation checks as you're traveling.
One of my worst skills Let's do about They Live Wrong is yet
another national age. Kaylith, you are seeing from
your obvious talent with stonework Cave is not naturally

(01:03:42):
formed. It looks like it has been dug
and stones scraped away, and youcan see claw Marks and pick
Marks and other signs that this passageway you're walking
through has been manually carvedout.

(01:04:04):
And beyond lookout, this is neednaturally made.
There might be traps. Nitra, as you see that you step
on a discolored tile on the floor.
I'm kidding Cryos, if you're leading the way as you continue
down this narrow hand carved passage, you do see moonlights

(01:04:25):
are you know, Starlight starts shining in from the left and you
can see that from where you are. There's another chunk of open
mountain to the West of where you are, but it is a sheer Cliff
drop straight down and the carved path continues to wrap

(01:04:50):
around away from it to the right.
You you get the sense that something was digging and
knocked out a chunk of wall, butthere was not a obvious path
down and they continued to dig. Oh, or undead perhaps.

(01:05:12):
Are you guys continuing together?
Soon as you see it. They're still.
They're still fighting over withthat diamond.
What diamond? Back Man doesn't exist.
Exactly. You guys continue down and then,
well, with your perfect night vision, you reach an opening and

(01:05:41):
in it you see a large open space, also hand carved.
And you hear that shuffling scraping sound.
Except now you're hearing more of it.
And you're hearing as shuffling footsteps and you hear groaning

(01:06:04):
moans and all of you are able tosee a shuffling figure that's at
the top of a raised platform. It crawls and scrapes.
It's the sound you've been following as it pulls itself up
onto a ledge that's about 10 feet up off the ground as it

(01:06:25):
crawls and stands on it and it lifts its arms and it makes this
wailing, fleshy, flemy, gurglingsound.
And I need everybody to roll initiative.
Hello. I roll the 21.

(01:06:45):
I roll the. 13. You see not only the creature
that's standing up on the raisedledge, but you see a number of
corpses all slowly turn and faceyou. 3 very long dead old zombie
like figures dressed in rich robes turn eyes vacant and

(01:07:12):
mouths open and arms stretch outwards towards Cryos who's at
the mouth of The Cave. But Cryos they're in the lead as
the first to reach this area. You also see two other figures
that are standing dimly glowing in this darkness and you can see

(01:07:35):
that they are dressed in semi ornate armor and these are what
you would assume to be guards ofthe nobles whose had been buried
with their leisure or Lords to in theory protect them in the
afterlife. And they glow and they are

(01:07:56):
skeletal and Bony and low flickering flames cover their
bones as they also turn aiming weapons at you.
And the fleshy gurgling creaturescreeching on the raised
platform lets out a just ear piercing gurgling screech.

(01:08:20):
It's almost like a dog whistle that parts of it are fleshy and
low and other parts of it are high and keening and ringing
your ears and all of the undead turn and face the opening here.
I yell back. Hey, bailiffs, Hell.
And we honor the dead. We honor the dead.
Here. Tell them.

(01:08:43):
Tell who what? I see nothing.
Just tell them we honor them. How to get real guys?
Not awesome. I'm sorry to stay top of the
turn order is Nithra, who is third in line in this tight

(01:09:04):
hallway. You've got Suji in front of you
and Cryos at the mouth. I believe you are able to unless
you have something specific. You're able to squeeze past or
move past another member, but itcounts as difficult terrain
which double S the movement speed that it takes.

(01:09:25):
Now can I see zombie egg? Let's see here.
Do I have a lineups eye? I'm going to say you have a very
obscured view of zombie Hey one of the few with Suji and Cryos
in front of you. But you you can see their
shambling form. They would be the only one that

(01:09:45):
you have visibility on from where you're standing.
I did just look it up real quick.
You are able to move through your comrades, but it does count
as difficult terrain. So to get past Cryos into the
open area, that would be where you are right now.
That would be 25 feet of movement.
OK so I will just move to here. I will take a shot at Flaming

(01:10:11):
Skeleton B to the east with my Longbow.
Fantastic. I go ahead and make a shot.
Oof, there's a nine hit. Your arrow swings wide as it's
deflected by the skeleton with its shield.
Going to take another shot. OK.

(01:10:33):
That was a 23. Hit.
That'll hit. All right, for four damage,
let's go. Let's go.
I do need to shout out our sponsor for this event also
comes from Waldo McCoy who bought 2 sponsors when we first
started this game. The first one was the river
creature. The second one is the flaming

(01:10:56):
skeletons that you are now dealing with here in the
chamber. So for whatever they do next,
you all get to blame Waldo. Thanks, Waldo.
Thanks, Waldo. Nithra, you took two shots.
You've used your movement, any bonus action, or anything else
you would like to do with your turn there?

(01:11:17):
Yes, since I hit, I'm going to also use a Sonic strike for one
D8 force damage plus no, no pluses for seven damage.
OK, seven damage. Awesome.
And then let's see what my bonustaxes are.

(01:11:38):
I don't think I got much, no, but that's the end of my turns.
OK, this is going to be a lessonin pain.
It is now flaming Skeleton A, the one that's nearest to the
fleshy shambler. It aims its sword at you,
Nithra, and a gout of flame shoots off from its sword,

(01:12:02):
hurling towards you. Does a 15 hit?
It does not Fantastic. It then is going to take another
hurling fire shot at you. I hit the button but DND is not
telling me anything. Or is anybody able to see it in

(01:12:23):
the dice log it? Didn't pop up for me.
Did the first one. Yes.
Oh no, there's the second one. You got 11 + 14 for another 15.
OK, that's why I thought I was looking at the first one.
Yep, they rolled another. Awesome.
OK, two misses. That is it for Skeleton.
Next up is the fleshy shambler up raised up on the ledge.

(01:12:53):
It makes another one of its screeching sounds.
Nithra, you're the one in the cavern.
Could you please give me a Dexterity saving throw?
I'm out of 12. You feel a little pinprick as
something hits you. Oh no.
Anything else? Nope.

(01:13:14):
OK, I do nothing. That is going to bring us to
Skeleton B Skeleton B is going to come running up and it's
going to take a swing at Nithra.Who's who's the one right there?
All right, here we go. It is swinging A flaming sword

(01:13:35):
at you, Nithra and A. It really Glee fails.
Yep, that one. It swings at you and you dip out
of the way and it sword lodges into the Stonewall right in
front of Cryos's face and the blade is currently wedged there.

(01:13:57):
It does not make a second attack.
Vaillith, that brings us to you.I'm just going to hold action
because I'm very squishy and I'min bath behind Taylor so I'm
just going to stay here and holdmy action because moving when it
really get me any further, I'll just try to wait till everybody

(01:14:19):
gets out if they do. OK, you are able to hold your
action and you are still you. You can't.
From where you're standing, you cannot see what's happening, but
you hear. I don't have no clue.
Yeah, you're you're hearing the sounds of steel and clanging,
and you briefly see sparks fly as flaming balls and other

(01:14:43):
things are shooting around Nithran and Cryos.
You can only just see like Cryos's back.
Yeah, I'm going to shout out, belike, what's going on?
As I keep yelling how long we honor the dead here, we honor
the. I see no dead.
Yep. OK, Next up is one of the
zombies. One of the zombies comes

(01:15:05):
shambling up using all of its movement next to the skeleton
and Nithra and it raises its hands and it comes in to give
Nithra just a good old fashionedzombie bite.
That is an 11 for Nithra. And that would be a miss.

(01:15:25):
Can't. Hit the fighter.
That's right, I'm dodging and weaving.
Shouldn't have used an old fashioned bite.
Should have used a new fashion. Yeah, I should have gotten like
one of those like fancy new kinds of bitings.
They're the new shangled ones, Zach.
I've seen that bite before. You can't get me with that bite.

(01:15:45):
All right, that brings us to Tsuji.
OK, I am looking at patient defense, specifically focused
patient defense and says you canexpend 1 focus point to take
both the disengage and dodge dodge actions as a bonus action.
So I interpreting that that thatI can disengage and dodge with

(01:16:08):
just a single bonus action or isit I can choose between the two?
I think you can choose between the two right?
So you have the option to do both with one single bonus
action, OK, and all other, right.
OK, Suji. Will move up.
Did he see the IT through I get hit by one of the little warm
warm me things or can he see it swarming outside of give me her

(01:16:33):
face or warm with with cryos between you and and being
further in give me a perception to see if you noticed that's an.
Adjusted. 17 Yes, a worm hit Nithra OK.

(01:16:54):
Sujil Scooch past. Cryos here.
I get close up to Nithra and just try to like, karate chop
it, the little worm out out of wherever it's trying to wriggle
its way into knowing that I suffered the same similar fate.
Yep, it's you. You as you run up with your

(01:17:14):
perfect night vision, you can see a worm wriggling near
nitrous Collarbone just above her armor.
If you would like to use your action to make an unarmed attack
of some sort on the worm, you are able to.
OK, I'm going to do that. That's a 21 to hit.
Yeah, that definitely hits or 12bludgeoning damage.

(01:17:39):
OK OK so you got more than double its AC so I am going to
say you are able to hit it and remove it without damaging
Nithra. A very precisely placed karate
chop scrapes the worm away and off of Nithra, it kills it and

(01:18:03):
that is your action. OK, well I have two unarmed
strikes so I could so it was theto attack the worm which
includes both of the strikes of 11 attack action is the 2
strikes. But if you have a bonus action
to do like a flurry of blows or something else, you can use your

(01:18:24):
bonus action if you would like. I'm not going to do that, but I
am going to kind of circle around behind this skeleton and
try to get over to behind the zombie.
And I will say use a patient defense as my bonus action,
which and takes the dodge actionfantastic, which I believe gives

(01:18:50):
you a just advantage on attacks against you.
Yes. Lastly, what I would want to
use, it's this they called uncanny metabolism.
I think it's kind of like for fighters, the second wind sort
of thing. It says once prolonged rest,
when you roll initiative, you can regain all expended focus
points and regain one D 8 + 6 HPDang.

(01:19:17):
OK, Regain all expended focus points.
Yeah, then you get all your focus points back and yeah,
you're a level 6, so I think that would be a one D 8 + 6.
Cool. OK, I'm going to use that.
And that is for 12 hit points regained.
Awesome. I I don't remember exactly where
you're at, but I think that brings you to full health.

(01:19:38):
Yeah, it did. Just got me back up there.
Fantastic. And all of your focus points.
That's intense. OK, Tsuji, Anything else?
That'll be my. Turn OK.
Next up you hear some shumbling scraping sounds, and out from

(01:19:59):
the left nether and Suji you cansee another zombie staggering
around the corner, but that is it, it cannot quite reach
anybody. Same with zombie B, it staggers
closer, coming for Suji. And that brings us to Kaylith.
Can a Let's see the flaming sword that got stuck in the

(01:20:20):
stone. Sure, yeah.
Can he walk up to it and grab it?
If it's not going to damage him,can he use it as a weapon?
The the skeleton is still holding it it it it's swung at
Nithra and missed because of theNat one.
It just lost its second attack as its blade like lodged into

(01:20:42):
the stone, but it is still actively like holding and
fighting with it can K. Let's walk up to the flaming
skeleton and take a chunk at itsarm.
Absolutely. All right, and going to take an
attack with my grates for it on the.
OK. There's a 19 hit.

(01:21:03):
A 19 is a hit. Is 11 damage enough to chill the
bump in here? It sure isn't, but you crack a
bone and you hear some tendons strain as you slice into its
arm. Well, let's.
Try. Again, try again.
There's a 14 hit. 14 is a miss. That'll do it for my turn.

(01:21:28):
All righty, that is then going to bring us to cryos.
All righty, going to as a bonus action, use steps of the night.
I'll give me a flying speed for one minute.

(01:21:50):
I'll be my Magneto thing and we'll rise up and over.
So I'll go up and feet and I'll move over rough to 20 feet.
OK, Magneto style cryocycleric floats up and over everybody's
head, this open cavern, which has to be at least 10 feet tall.

(01:22:11):
I said that the shambler is up on a ledge that's about 10 feet
up or so. So I mean.
Yeah, yeah. The ceiling is probably about 20
feet tall. Yeah, cool.
So I'll be here. I'm going to do Turn Undead.
All righty, Could you read that?Yeah.

(01:22:31):
There's a magic action. You present your holy symbol and
censure undead creatures. Each undead of your choice
within 30 feet of you does make a Wisdom saving through.
If the creature fails, it saves. It has the straightened and
incapacitated condition for one minute.

(01:22:52):
For that duration, it tries to move as far from you as it can
on its turn. This effect ends thoroughly on
the creature if it takes any damage, if you have, if you have
the incapacitated condition or if you die.
But with that, with that, I am also going to utilize Steer

(01:23:14):
Undead. So way that works is whenever
you use Turn Undead can roll a number of D eights equal to your
wisdom modifier and add the rolltogether.
Each undead that fails its savings trail against the use of
the Turn Undead takes radiant damage equal to the rolls total.

(01:23:37):
This damage does not end the Turn Undead.
Effect all right and your your turn on is that a channel
divinity ability? Yes, it's a channel divinity.
From Twilight Sanctuary. Cool, right?
Yeah, Cool, cool, cool. OK, So what is The?
Who are you casting it on? So it's anybody I can see, any

(01:24:02):
creature I can see with it's undead within 30 feet.
So I should be able to get most of these guys because I'm 10
feet up and then they're all pretty much within 20 feet of
me, except maybe this guy ZombieD.
So it's pretty much everybody wecan see except Zombie D, and

(01:24:24):
they'll have to make a Wisdom saving throws.
OK, let's run through this real quick.
Mud we have to stop using undeadcreatures.
It's. It's.
A. Halloween episode it's supposed
to be on zombies and ghouls and creatures in the night.
Happy flying episodes and everybody.
What was the save again? 15 Yeah, mine's 15.

(01:24:48):
Skeleton A fails, B fails. Watch you guys aren't even going
to have a fight at the end of this meets it beats it Zombie
under you fails and he passed and the fleshy shambler OK, both

(01:25:13):
skeletons. Whoever quiver failed takes 23
radiant damage and T3. Also yes, and they have to run
away from us in terrified steel. And as I do that, I stare at
all, stare down at all of them, and go.

(01:25:36):
Yeah, absolutely terrifying. The zombie below you crumbles in
the radiant searing light. The skeletons took the damage
and so now with your turn undead, they have to run away.
And do they have to get? Away.

(01:25:57):
To save every turn or how long does it last?
Yeah. So if the creature fails to
save, it has the frightened and incapacitated conditions, both
of those for one minute. So once it's done, it's done.
So for 10 rounds, they're frightened, they're running
away. So for that duration, it tries
to move as far from you as it can on its turns.

(01:26:21):
So it really all can do is move. And because this is like a
enclosed cave, like they can just hide in a corner.
Basically, they're going to get in Sears for 10 minutes.
Exactly. Yeah.
So there's no save after. They just have to wait it out.
But granted. But granted, if they take
damage, I believe that that goes.

(01:26:42):
Away it ends. So got it.
Yeah. Yeah, it.
Ends early on the creature if ittakes damage, so this at least
will give us the opportunity to focus on the non frightened ones
and then we can go. After the fright.
Ones later. I definitely cryos any other way
you would like to fuck up my bigbad situation here.

(01:27:05):
That's all I can do this round, unfortunately.
Yeah, that's my turn, Starbridge.
OK, well that's going to bring us to zombie.
See that one was not frightened and it is just close enough to
Nithra. It runs past the scared skeleton

(01:27:28):
and it's just going to come up and it's going to try to bite
Nithra as well because Nithra isfront and center there and the
only person let's. Go.
That's a 19 to hit. A 19 does hit.
How you take two whole points ofdamage?
Oh no. OK, the zombie under Cryos did

(01:27:51):
not have the chance to reanimatebecause it did take radiant
damage. That is the bottom of the round.
Valus, we are back to you. You had an action held.
If you you, I'll let you use your movement if you want to run
up in any action or bonus actions you want to cast with.
Yeah, I'm going to run up and run up and get next to nailing

(01:28:13):
and I'm going to attest fire bolts on zombie bees.
That's not fighting right. Zombie Bee is dead.
No G, sorry, my bad. GD No D is not frightened.
They are left of you. You can absolutely shoot at
them. I'm going to attest fire bolts.
Well, try to see. Let's go.

(01:28:34):
And I got a 23. Rule that damage when.
I got a 12. That zombie absolutely lights up
with a groan. It is now a flaming zombie as it
continues staggering towards youon death's door but still
standing top. Or anything else?
Any bonus actions or anything else for Vaileth?

(01:28:55):
Can I? Did I use all my movement?
I I would say you have a little bit left, yeah, if you want to,
if there's something else you want to do.
Yeah, just trying to go back like and can I get back behind
like everybody? Just right to the mouth of The
Cave. You've you've.
Yeah, yeah, that's fine. OK.
Thank you. All right, Top.
Of the turn order, the you all feel a frigid air course through

(01:29:25):
the room as the layer action in the cold.
The fleshy shambler begins. It's shrieking again.
The room vibrates and is shakingwith the sounds that are echoing
out from its mouth at the top ofthe turn order.

(01:29:46):
I need everybody to please make me.
Yep, this is also dexterity. Satan throws Please.
Can a throw the fives? Bailiff as Page 3.
I've rolled the five as well. 5 on 11.
And Suji. So with the.
Jacks I rolled an adjusted 20 but I think the dodge action

(01:30:10):
gives me a advantage. You're correct.
Yep, you pass so I wouldn't swim.
Everyone else, though, the entire cave is rattling and
shaking, and cryos, from where you're floating, you feel it
first. Something plops on your
shoulder, and as you look up youall can see a number of these

(01:30:37):
wriggling, grubby white worms wriggling free from the stone
and dirt of the ceiling and falling to the ground.
Nithra, Vaalus, Kalus, and Cryos, you all have one worm
trying to Burrow onto or into you.
Duji, you have no worms. Yeah, he was just like.

(01:31:01):
Brushing them off as soon as he felt they were like, yeah, just
like dip dodge, Jackie Chan karate chopping at worms falling
from the ceiling. That is the that is my very
wormy layer action that will nowbring us to Nithra at the top of
the turn order. So what's with this worm?

(01:31:22):
It was trying to Burrow into you.
I did not want it to Burrow intome.
You are allowed to use an actionto take a swing at it and try to
scrape it off. Yeah, I guess so, yeah, I'll
switch to my spear and try to swing it and take it off, I
guess. OK.

(01:31:44):
An armed strike? I don't know.
It's your choice. Let's use the spear.
She's trying to attack myself. It is versatile.
How about an 18? 18 is good enough and double its
AC so you do not hurt yourself, you remove the worm from
yourself. And I do not get my second

(01:32:07):
attack. So the way that I have this
written, it takes your action toremove a worm.
You are able to use your weaponsto do it to give yourself your
attack bonus. So you guys like aren't reliant
on unarmed strikes. You can use your weapons to
attack the worms that are tryingto Burrow into you, but it does
cost your action to do it. OK so I read this right here.

(01:32:31):
You are able to use your attack, but it is the full action to
remove a worm. OK, then I guess just this round
I'm going to second wind it and for ten hit points and that will
be my turn. Awesome, that's going to bring
us to Flaming Skeleton A who says oh God, fuck this noise,

(01:32:54):
and he runs off into the corner.OK, that's it for him.
That brings us to Fleshy Shambler Cryos.
Could you please give me anotherDexterity saving throw?
16. 16 is good enough. You watch as the Shambler
screeches in your direction, worms pouring from its mouth and

(01:33:15):
out of its ears and nose, and a worm propelled by its screeching
voice shoots past your face and shoots past you and flops onto
the ground over there next to Vaileth.
Son with that. And it doesn't like what's going
on here in its layer. It jumps down from the shelf,

(01:33:38):
lands on all four upside down and backwards, its head cranking
and twisting to the side as it crab walks, running up to two
G2G. It's going to take a couple claw
attacks at you now. You did not have to use your
dodge before, so I will say if you would like to use your dodge

(01:33:59):
now against the Shambler, it would roll with disadvantage.
Awesome. Perfect.
I assume you would like to do that all right, disadvantage
still got a 17 does a 17 hit that hits OK, but I would like.
To. I want to use.

(01:34:22):
A deflect attack says when an attack roll that includes
bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing hits you, you can
reduce the attacks total damage by one D 10 + 10.
OK part of this is slashing so it did 5 slash damage and that
you are able to deflect. OK, so let's see.

(01:34:46):
Here. 1D10. So reduces it by. 16 points and
then basically I'll use deflect.Attack.
Redirect Attack because if you reduce the damage to 0 via
deflect attacks, you can spend 1focus point to redirect some of

(01:35:09):
the attacks. Force.
If you do choose a creature, youcan see within 5.
Feet of you. If it was melee or a creature
you can see within 60 feet that isn't behind total cover.
If the attack was ranged, sorry, the creature must succeed on ADC
14 deck saving throw or take twoD 8 + 4 damage of the same type

(01:35:29):
dealt by the attack. So this is interesting and I'm,
I don't play a monk, so I'm I'm going to ask you and I'm going
to ask you to decide what you think is fair.
OK, so it makes a claw attack, which is like a swinging
slashing attack. Now the damage that it does is

(01:35:49):
two different types. It did five points of slashing,
but it also did 12 points of necrotic damage.
OK. Now I think that it would be
fair to take that combined of 17and and remove the five and then
also reduce the other remaining 12.

(01:36:12):
Based on the language of your deflect attack, I'm going to say
it's up to what you think is fair.
Are you able to deflect some of this necrotic damage or do you
think you would still tone all the necrotic?
I don't think I would be able todeflect necrotic because it
doesn't mention it just says if it includes bludgeoning,
piercing, or slashing damage in the deflect attack description.

(01:36:34):
So I'll take the necrotic damage, but if I can deflect,
redirect some of the slashing damage onto one of these
zombies. I would I would take.
That that's fair I'll give that to you.
So the the slashing is reduced to 0 so you take 12 necrotic and
I will let you redirect into thezombie.
What did it have to roll to saveDC-14 Dexterity save.

(01:36:57):
OK, well these guys have got a -2 to dexterity.
He rolled a 1517 -, 2 Dang it. OK.
So he that doesn't quite hit himI guess?
But as you said, it was, it was.12 necrotic damage. 12 necrotic
from the first swing. Yes it is going to make it

(01:37:19):
second claw attack now. Gotcha.
OK, only a 13. OK that does not.
Next up is Skeleton B Skeleton B, also scared and
incapacitated, is going to try to run away and there's four

(01:37:39):
people surrounding it. If you Nithra, Velus, Kaylith,
or Tsuji Nope, Surji you used your reaction.
So Nithra, Velus, and Salus. You can all choose to use your
reaction to swing at flaming Skeleton B as it tries to run
away. It is up to you.
I. Do.
OK, absolutely make some attack.Rolls does a 16 hat.

(01:38:00):
Yes it does like a 6 damage. It is no longer frightened and
running. Someone else going to take that
swing? Yeah, can swing in.
There's a 20 hit. 20 is a hit. Roll some damage.
Called 9. That hurts.

(01:38:21):
It is dangling and hanging by a thread.
Vaileth, did you want to take a swipe at it?
Yeah, I just had an unwarmed start because.
Or can I can I use a firefighterand trip fire bolt?
Not as a reaction, but. I just can use the autumn arms.
Something right? No, I just had an unarmed

(01:38:42):
strike. Take take a punch at him.
Punch that skeleton. OK.
And just did nothing. OK, yeah, 11 that's a swing and
a miss. Flaming Skeleton B is looking
upset. Did did Nitras or Caleb's attack

(01:39:02):
knock the sword out of his hand or knock his arm officer?
Yeah, you you sever the arm thatis still gripping the sword
lodged in the wall Cryos with with its turn undead.
It's been attacked, so it's no longer has the turn undead
effect. Is it now able to make attacks

(01:39:24):
or does it have to wait till itsnext turn?
I believe once it takes damage it would fall into whatever the
initiative ordered. OK.
Yeah. In which case, Caliph, you've
severed off its arm, holding itssword, it is going to point its
other hand directly at your face, and it's going to make

(01:39:45):
those fireball attacks. With disadvantage because he is
sacked from my attack. OK Yep with disadvantage then K
lift does a 15 hit. No, it does.
Not OK, second attack hurling flames at you with disadvantage

(01:40:10):
because you guys are a bunch of monsters.
It rolled in 11. That is it for Skeleton B who is
on death's door. Vaylith Necromancer, that is
your turn. I'm going to dead in battling
like how he is. He pretty much that's pretty
dead. OK, I'm going to cast told the

(01:40:32):
dead on him. Awesome.
OK, that's a save for him to roll, right?
Yes, with some save art school. OK, he did roll an 18.
Does he take half damage on a save?
That one, That one. Yeah, I think.
No, I don't think so. Pass or.
Pass or. Yeah, it's pass or fail, Yeah.

(01:40:55):
OK, so it does save. OK Valus, you take one point of
piercing damage. Ouch as the worm Burrows into
your skin and disappears from sight.
Oh. That's it, Zombie AI believe

(01:41:19):
that's the zombie tangled up between Nithra and Suji.
It's going to just take a lumbering bite at Suji.
Here it rolled a Gnat 1 and it falls flat on its face.
That is it for zombie A. And that brings us to Suji
proper. Suji, you got a zombie on its

(01:41:39):
feet to your left. You got that wormy fleshy
shambler to your right and a flaming skeleton behind you.
What would Suji like to do? Suji would like to start off
with a bonus action flurry of blows on the fleshy shambler.
OK. And.

(01:42:00):
OK, so that is. First one is a 13 to hit, Not
hit. No.
Six teams. OK, Folds.
Yeah. Yeah, on the.
Second one would be a 13, so it's 2 two of those.
I'm assuming. And.
Both hit and or a total. Of. 23 points of damage, OK.

(01:42:29):
And then just OK, so it's sayinghere you you did that with a
flurry of blows. Yes, a flurry of blows.
The reason being for that is when I.
Shoot, I just was. Reading it, basically whenever I
use flurry of blows bonus actionit's saying I can use disengage.

(01:42:56):
OK, so. Yeah, you can.
Spend. Shoot as.
As. Yeah.
Drunk. Yeah.
I'll. I'll.
You can definitely disengage. There's one thing I have to
resolve As you make a melee attack on it, could you please
give me a Dexterity saving throw?
OK, what's that? N As you land a couple of blows

(01:43:20):
slamming into its body, it coughs and Hawks once and you
feel a worm land on you. OK, well, using my drunken
technique, just kind of, it's almost looking like I'm
stumbling around it. I'm going to move around to the
back of the fleshy Shambler, OK,and then use my use my action to

(01:43:43):
wipe off. Or just like how to?
Get get this worm off of me. Essentially.
Stop it. Sure.
Suji doesn't like worms on him, everybody.
Nope. He doesn't.
Smell that great and you know, he's a little dirty, but there's
certain things that he doesn't doesn't tolerate and that is a

(01:44:04):
25 to hit. That's so much more than double
its AC. You cleanly scrape it off no
problem. Anything else for Suji?
That'll be my turn. All right.
Next up is zombie D Zombie D comes staggering in from the
left and it's on death's door onfire as it comes at Nithra.

(01:44:30):
All these zombies are just stilltrying to hurt Nithra somehow
and all of them failing, but Nithra, it's going to take a
bite at you. It rolled an 8.
Misses. Well, that's it for Zombie D
That's Next up is Zombie B. Zombie B is dead.
I'm going to remove him from combat.

(01:44:50):
Then we have Kayla's moon Shard.Kayla, if you've got that
flaming skeleton to your left and a wriggling skeletal arm
connected to a flaming scimitar that's lodged in the wall next
to you. Yeah.
Would I be able to do a strengthability check to pull it out?
Absolutely. What's the DC on the?

(01:45:11):
I'm not telling you that, DC-10.Come on, DC-10.
That's not bad at all. Here we go, I rolled an 8.
Can I use tactical line to roll AD twin?
If if you really want to. All right, so let's add 7 to
that for a 15. Fantastic, you have a flaming

(01:45:33):
scimitar in your hand with a skeletal still gripping it.
What can I do to get to that andoff of it?
Just describe to me in a colorful way how you strip the
skeletal hand away from the scimitar.
I've been pulled back one by oneof all of the all of the digits,

(01:45:54):
including the thumb. Not just to unwrap it from the
the scimitar, but to break them off of the metacarpal phones as
well. Yeah, I asked.
I got exactly what I asked for. I'm going to call that your
bonus action. You still have your action

(01:46:15):
available to you with this now flaming blade in your hand.
One second. Well my question now I have the
scimitar which is a finesse light weapon.
Yep. Ken is is this scimitar
considered a flame tongue? Is it considered a flame tongue?

(01:46:39):
So a flame tongue is a weapon? Any sword that is rare and
requires attunement. Oh.
No. And if it's if it is a.
Magic item. No, OK.
Hold on. Hold on.
OK? Keep.
Keep reading. What?
What are you? Tell me what?
To. Do.
So I'm basically trying to get anew sword that's flank.

(01:47:00):
OK, it is not the flame tongue, but I would say you can at your
inventory A I'll I'll add it foryou.
It's a flaming scimitar. It's 1D6 and instead of just
your normal +2, I'm going to saythat it is +3.
You got Can I take a swing at that flaming skeleton?

(01:47:25):
Sure. The. 1414 is a mess, but hey,
you got a flaming scimitar out of the deal.
All right, is there anything else I can do to re equip my
great sword or do I have to waitto the next turn?
You OK? So I would just say on your next

(01:47:48):
turn it takes your bonus action to switch weapons.
So on your next turn, you could use a bonus action to switch
from the scimitar to the great sword if you wanted.
And that is my turn. Cryos it is.
Cryos turned. Your friendly neighborhood
clerk, OK, she said. One of this things in my.
One second, Kayla, you take one point of piercing damage.

(01:48:12):
Oh, I didn't get the Dang worm out.
It was worth a shot at getting apretty cool sword for.
Twinsies now. Cryos, it is your turn.
OK, you said I have a one tryingto get in me, right?
You do have a worm that's tryingto Burrow into you.
OK. And can you clarify, It seems

(01:48:34):
like based on some of the interactions we've had with
these worms, you either have to like physically try to pull it
out or do some type of damage toit.
So it's an attack on it. You can do unarmed if you want,
or you can use your weapon. The worm has an AC, and if you
do more than double its AC, you do not hurt yourself in the

(01:48:55):
process of attacking the worm toget it off.
OK, what about a spell? Because I did.
I did it with shocking grass. Yep.
Yeah. OK, cool.
OK. So if that's if that's the case,
I'm going to, I'm still 10 feet near, I'm going to fly over
here. So that should should still get

(01:49:18):
these three guys. So in in combat here you would
still need to roll the attack roll for the shocking grasp.
Well, I'm going to. Can I do a different spell that
also does damage? Yeah, OK.
That's what I'm going to. Do.
If it is an attack roll, you still have to roll it.
Right steer guardians 15 foot radius.

(01:49:41):
Now granted this is not completely accurate because I'm
10 feet in the air so. I'm not going to get all
Pythagorean theorem on us. I'm just saying worst case
scenario I would hit everybody that split in five feet of me
from my position. But yeah, it's up to you.

(01:50:03):
OK, so I'm going to cast Spirit Guardians in an attempt to build
this worm and in the process hitthe Shambler.
It was a zombie day. And the skeleton.
OK. At the very least, yeah.
So they're going to need to, they're going to need to make

(01:50:27):
ADC 15 Wisdom saving throw. OK.
And so the worm still saves on you?
I was not expecting that. OK, so zombie a Wisdom save Nat
20. Technically it would still take

(01:50:50):
damage inside of you because it's still within the range,
correct? Well, it saved so it take.
Damage. But was that?
Yeah. I think it would take.
Half damage. Yeah.
Right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
OK. Yeah, that's true.
Yeah. Because even if it saves, it
still takes half thin. It has 1 so it kills the worm on

(01:51:14):
you. Yeah.
All right, so whoever it doesn'tsave takes 13 radiant damage.
However, it does save takes halfof that.
OK, so Suji, you had a worm on you.
That worm also can't save, so that worm dies.

(01:51:39):
This is severely fucking up my entire encounter.
This is you're going to examine me from Time Clerics I know.
Not allowed anymore like I'm zombie C failed what?
What was the the full damage? Let's see, it was 13 radiant

(01:52:01):
damage. Zombie C is hanging on by a
thread, and Skeleton B cannot survive even if he passes.
Skeleton B crumbles into a pile of bones.
Oh, hello. OK.

(01:52:22):
So we still have 3 zombies surrounding Nithra, 1 crumbled
dead skeleton, the shambling fleshy thing between Cryos and
Tsuji, and one skeleton hiding off in the corner Cryos.
Anything else you would like to do there?
Yeah, let's see. I can't.

(01:52:45):
I can't do a spell bonus action.Yeah, I don't.
It's. Anything else I can do,
unfortunately. So yeah, that'd be it for my
turn. All right, well, same thing.
Zombie C World A not one trying to bite Nithra and falls flat to

(01:53:06):
the ground. And that is it for Zombie C Now
in your spirit Guardians, if they end their turn in there, do
they take damage again? So it would be like because
they're starting their turn thisround, they would take it
initially and then next round, if they're still in it, then
they would take it the end of their turn.

(01:53:26):
OK, so he took it for the start of this round.
OK, got it. Correct, so next round he would
have to end it his turn still inthe thing to take the damage.
Well, that brings us to the top of the order, which is kind of
dumb layer action. A bunch of worms fall from the
ceiling as the Shambler screeches again, and all of my

(01:53:50):
fucking worms fall into the Spirit Guardian sphere and
fucking die. This is.
Great. Well, I was going to Thunder
clap and kill all the worms, butthat's a new point now.
Sure. Is I got all bro?
I got you bro, don't worry. So I am going to take so the

(01:54:19):
flaming skeleton is dead or alive.
The flaming skeleton is dead. OK, then I'm going to take I
can't a swing at zombie A does a23 hit.
It absolutely does. All right.
They take 10 points of damage. Very hurt, very hurt, very hurt.

(01:54:47):
All right. These are on death's door.
Then I am going to use Psychic Strike and it does 1-DA +2
damage to it. OK.
But it takes another eight damage.
You watch as the vibrations passthrough this thing and it it you

(01:55:13):
know it's it's head explodes andit falls to the ground dead.
And then I will attack Zombie Sea.
OK, from my stepping strike, there's a 16 hit.
Yes it does. All right then they will take 7
damage. Zombie C cut in half by Nithra

(01:55:39):
Zombie C is dead. Then I also since I killed it
with my spear I get 2D6 temp temporary hit points.
OK, go ahead and roll those. So I get additional 3.
OK, so go ahead and add that temp hit points, anything else

(01:56:01):
for Nithra? Nope, that is it.
OK, skeleton, I'm sorry. Skeleton A is still just off
hiding in the corner, sad and scared and doing nothing because
fuck my undead Halloween night creatures.

(01:56:24):
Fleshy shambler. It's going after Duji some more.
Duji, it's going to try to cougha worm straight into your mouth.
Please make your Dexterity saving throw.
That's an adjusted 20. That's a pass you.
I mean, you tell me, how do you stop that from happening?

(01:56:45):
Just like grab it out of the airwhere between my thumb and my
index finger and just kind of with my other hand just do like
atom and toss it to the side. Fantastic.
I really was hoping you would just catch it in your teeth, but
that's that's good. So it screeches angrily.
It's going to make a couple attacks at you.

(01:57:06):
First attack is a 19 + 6 for 25.Otwell.
Head. OK, that's five slashing and
only 5 necrotic, so 10 damage total.
And is it making another attack?Yes it is.

(01:57:28):
I will try to click any of that or try to reduce it.
I'll try. Yeah, I'll deflect the the the
slashing on that one OK, which it's it's one D 10 + 10.
So I'm assuming I just it can't not so you only take 5 nickel
like damage. OK, it takes a second claw
attack at you for a 24 that'll also.

(01:57:51):
Hit. God it rolled such garbage this
round. It only did eight points of
damage total. He rolled A12.
He is, still is. Despite.
All that not looking too great, but yeah, he's still on his
feet. Just barely.
That's it for the fleshy shambler Vaileth.

(01:58:11):
It is the Necromancer turn. Doesn't he have to make his save
now? Oh oh, oh, you're right.
Because he's in the Guardian ring.
Yeah, because he finished it in there.
Yeah. Yeah, he.
Sure did. OK.
DC-15 in this time. Yeah, he rolled A3.
Oh. OK, this They're taking 14

(01:58:33):
radiant damage to whoever fails and half.
That OK, 14 radiant damage. He does not like that at all.
OK, now it is Vaileth. How am I feeling?
I hold a worm inside. I'm so glad you asked, Velis.
You feel the worm crawling underyour skin, biting and chewing,

(01:59:03):
and you can see it wriggling down from your collarbone, down
the length of your shoulder and arm to where your bicep is, and
you feel this searing, chomping pain.
And as you look, the worm bulging against your skin is
much larger than it was when it first burrowed into you.

(01:59:24):
Vaalith, that worm deals you seven points of necrotic damage
as it chews at the muscles and tendons under your skin.
When it take damage from. As it's shielded by her skin and
she's a friendly unit. Fight me.

(01:59:49):
Let's give up. Technically it's out of range.
Technically, and I think WAD. Yeah, I don't know.
Did you forget about the I thinkthe flaming skeleton has like a
death burst or something, doesn't he?
He technically he does, yes. So I'll give you a seat.

(02:00:09):
Take care. That's so thoughtful of you.
You're right, he exploded when he died.
I need Dexterity saving throws from Nithra and Kayla's and
Velas. Kayla throws A12.
That's a fail. Not an. 18.
At the pass. I'm going to do the tactical

(02:00:31):
mind on that. That will be my third.
Second wins. It's a 19 for Vailiff.
Vailiff is a pass. Did a 13 pass?
The DC is a 14 Kayla. Never roll anything but A1.
Yeah, yeah. OK, everybody around flaming

(02:00:51):
skeleton that was cut down. If you failed, you take 15
points of damage. If you passed, you take eight
points of damage as that flamingskeleton explodes a boom.
Sorry about that, everybody. Yeah, thanks for reminding me
that one of my sponsor creatureshad a cool ability.

(02:01:14):
I was just like one just got ganged up on and the other one's
hiding in the corner crying. Vaileth, it is still your turn.
At the start of your turn you took that worm damage, but it is
still actually your turn. Yeah, I so it's it's I'm like
out of 10 for my hit points. It's really painful points of

(02:01:36):
that exploding zombie and then the worm is attacking me.
I'm I'm clearly going to try to RIP it out of my arm like I'm
going to try to RIP it out. Would you like to ask somebody
for a dagger? Yeah, I'm close to Kayla if he
has one of. Course, here you go.

(02:01:58):
Yeah, Kayla, if you toss a dagger to Vaileth, you can make
an attack roll on yourself to try to carve out that worm
would. That just be an arm strike.
No, it's going to be a dagger attack with your dexterity
promise. 12. OK, with a 12, go ahead and roll

(02:02:22):
AD. 4. Plus, geez, AD 4 + 1 you take
two points of piercing damage. That is like the best you could
have possibly hoped for. You stab into your arm and you
spear the worm and you carve it straight out of your arm.

(02:02:45):
You only take two points of damage.
You guys are unbelievable. That was lucky.
Toss the knife back to the chalet and I'm down eight hit
points. So I just kind of like kneel
down and I'm just like, thanks. Nice job, that was a good good

(02:03:09):
show of strength. I don't.
I don't want to do anything else.
That'll that'll bring us to Tsuji.
Then Tsuji, who's going head to head with my fleshy shambling
creature. OK, Suji's going to try his his
utmost to bring him down. So he's going to use unarmed

(02:03:29):
strikes and his flurry of blows here against this thing.
OK already. Oh, first an arm strike is A10.
That is a hit. That's a whoa.
OK, wow, this. Thing has 10 AC.
Wow. OK.

(02:03:51):
Second one's a 26 to hit. OK.
So that'll be 10 plus? 11.
And then the first Valeria blows.
That's a nine to miss. 9 actually misses.
Yeah. And 15, OK.

(02:04:12):
Little. Additional 10 for I believe 31
points of damage to it. Jeez, it is on death's door.
Please make me a Dexterity saving throw.
OK. As you make some melee attacks
against my wormy big bad. Oh my God you actually passed

(02:04:33):
for like the first time. Nope, second time.
Worms pool around at your feet as you slam into this thing, but
none get on you. And because I used mum, mum,
mum. Flurry of Blows.
As a. Bonus action I'm going to tipsy
sway back away from this thing because I I'm also not looking

(02:04:56):
too great. Pretty pretty bloodied in my
current state. OK, but it was free to let's
yeah, so I'll just back up over to the over there.
OK, right over there. Tuji runs off into the opposite
corner where the other skeleton is sitting crying.

(02:05:18):
Yeah, and I'll just kind of recollect Sujila, recollect
himself, pop open a bit of his whiskey, check it down, and that
will be his turn. All right.
Well, I got a zombie that's going to try again to bite
Nithra. Jeez, this fight did not go at
all how I thought. Nithra, it's a oh come on, 17 to

(02:05:39):
hit. Needs a beats and.
Nithra takes three whole points of damage.
Out. As this thing is biting and
chewing on your shoulder, Caliph, you also feel this
chomping, burning, painful sensation as a worm is burrowing

(02:06:01):
around inside of you. Yes, I will.
Can I do the same thing as Dalith and try to get it out?
You can after you take 9 points of necrotic damage of this thing
chewing around, you can feel it like just under your collarbone,
like in the the meaty section oflike your chest and pectoral

(02:06:24):
muscles. You can absolutely take a dagger
to yourself and try to dig it out.
Yeah, let's try it. What were those dice?
With a dagger, you're rolling your Dexterity modifier, so it's
AD 20, and in your case, hey Liz, it's going to be AD 20 + 3.

(02:06:48):
I rolled A12 all. Right roll.
Me a Hey. Roll me that damage D 4 + 0
because you have no dexterity. About. 3.
You take 3 points of piercing damage as you stab into your
chest and carve that worm out offrom under your own skin and you

(02:07:09):
are now also wormless. Can I take the bonus action to
equip my great sword again? Absolutely.
OK, and that leaves me with one action, correct?
So the you you used your action to attack yourself, you still
have no so that the removing theworm is your action.

(02:07:33):
I have my movement but I have nothing that I care about and
nothing cares about me, so I'm quite just stay where I'm at and
hope for the next round of heal.OK, that brings us to our cleric
Cryos, who is still floating 10 feet above the shambler.
OK, yeah, let's see. Well, they've already got the

(02:07:56):
Spirit Guardians to worry about,so I'm going to cast a spell on
Chambler. I'm going to do Sacred Flame.
That's a deck save of 15, then the Chambler.
He rolled a 15. OK, then nothing happens.

(02:08:20):
Who's, like, really hurt Bailiff?
I. Am Bailiff.
Oh wait, you know what? He's down to 5.
I won't say he's just pretty bloody.
I know and never mind, it's an action.
OK, I was going to try to do some some healing thing but it
is an action to state. I think if I remember from our

(02:08:43):
last session you have healing word which is a bonus action.
In that case, I can do that. I can do stealing word to
whoever feel like they need it the most.
Suji is fine, you can use it on.On Vailiff, OK.
OK. All.
Right, so I'm going to do it a level 2 Healing Word on Vaileth.

(02:09:10):
It's a bonus action spell, has arange of 60 feet, and it's 44 +
4 hit points restored at level 2, so you can add 14 points back
to your HP. That will be my turn.
OK. Thank you.

(02:09:31):
Top of the turn I live. To serve.
Bunch of worms falling from the sky.
But I think Suji is no longer inthe spirit guardian ring.
Suji, give me a Dexterity savingthrow.
Dang it. OK, you you ran all the way
across. That's true. 9.

(02:09:53):
You. Stay in safety my.
Son. As worms fall from the ceiling
and this time 1 lands and plops right against your eyeball and
you quickly try to just pour some of the whiskey into my eye
as it does that. Yeah, you now have a whiskey

(02:10:15):
covered worm trying to Burrow around your eye into your eye
socket. Nithra it is turned everybody
else. The worms die as they hit the
floor around you. All right, how bad does the
Shambler look? Everything is on death's door.
Oh, all right, I'm just going tostep to here, switch to my

(02:10:41):
glave, and make an attack on theShambler.
Make that attack roll. There's a 21 hit.
Absolutely it does. And it takes Max damage of
twelves. Nithra, tell us all how you
finish my big bad fleshy shambler home brewed big bad

(02:11:06):
evil guy. I, you know, twirl my spear
around, sheath it and say it's time to get serious.
But you look nasty. Yes, I pull out my glave and I
just slice whatever head type like saying it has right off.

(02:11:29):
Head rolls to the ground and offin the distance behind you you
hear a small boom as the other skeleton hiding in the corner
blows up, falling to pieces on the ground.
With the shambler dead, no longer animating it and
controlling it, we are out of initiative.

(02:11:56):
Great job dude. He's just quickly trying to
pluck the the little parasite worm thing away from his face
and just like swatting frantically make me an attack
rule. Oh boy, so.
This would be amazing if I knockmyself out in the process.
Of real. Chance.

(02:12:18):
Proportion and get to you. I'm hearing yourself.
I guess I was an 18. You successfully drowned the
worm out of your eye. Perfecting.
You from burrowing into you, Oh my.
Gosh. Oh, it just would have been so,
so sweet if you had just like rolled low and smashed yourself

(02:12:39):
once in the face. But.
That is. That is it guys.
You, you have cleared all the undead from this cavern, This
cavern that was tucked back deepbeneath behind the catacombs on.

(02:13:01):
Would anybody like to do an investigation of the Shambler?
Suji. Is immediate, immediately
lighting a torch again and preparing to wait.
Use all of his sake and whiskey to burn this thing to a crisp as
he's concerned. Yeah.
No, that's great. Can I investigate him first?

(02:13:23):
Yeah, absolutely. Give me an illustration check.
Wait wait, does that Sistine work?
With the 16 you at first the thethe shambler's laying on the
ground, it's not moving, and then they you see a few worms

(02:13:44):
begin to twitch and no. Sushi, burn it.
Burn it. Search sushi.
Burn it. How's the?
Head like I want to grab the head away from everything else.
Worms are all right from the neck stump.
I shake it over the body before he burns.
It could get all the worms out. Yeah, Tuji, how are you?

(02:14:08):
Are you flame breathing the the corpses?
Oh yeah, for sure. Just like full on taking a page
out of my dragonborn friend overhere and just like fully on
yeah, lame breath. You spew alcohol fueled flames
all over the corpse and the the worms writhe and wriggle and

(02:14:34):
begin to crackle and burn and with grotesque plopping sounds
they pop all around the corpse and in it sounds a lot like
popcorn. And as you do, you hear a slow
clapping sound. And standing off to the left,

(02:14:55):
looking over the ledge, you all can see a woman standing on the
ledge. She's wearing light leather
armor. Blood red hair cascades around
her face, falling to her shoulders and on her body.

(02:15:17):
Where her heart would be is a open gaping wound.
And you can see her heart pumping in her chest as she
stands there. Grotesque tubes extending out of
her heart, splurting blood onto the ground around her feet.
And she looks down and she says, well, Suji, that was fucking

(02:15:41):
rude. And he didn't say anything.
He just takes another swig of his whiskey like readies himself
in a little defense stance. Excuse me, who are you?
She looks down at Nithra and says, who am I?

(02:16:02):
That's a great question, Nithra.I have those all the time.
All the time. Let me tell.
You It's such a good question because I could so much easier
tell you who I used to be. I think I'm still figuring out
exactly who I am. Well, we all need to look

(02:16:23):
within, but I think we're done here, unless you may have some
gold or something for us. She grins and you see a gold
coin flashes between her fingersand she says absolutely.
Since you undid all my work hereby all means.

(02:16:46):
And she flips the coin to you, Nithra.
I got you. As you do, she smirks and looks
at all 5 of you and says well again, fuck you all very much
for messing up my plans. And as if she was made of the

(02:17:07):
same worms that the corpse fleshy corpse thing was, she
slowly dissolves, separating into multiple worms, and then
all of the worms begin to melt, turning into a gory mess that
drips down the side of the Cliffplatform that she was standing

(02:17:28):
on, leaving nothing but a gory mess behind where she once was
standing. I was right.
We are done here. Go ahead and add a gold coin to
your inventory, a specific item called a gold coin.
I was going to ask, OK. With that, everything in the

(02:17:48):
cavern is dead, burned, melting, exploded or decapitated Sujan or
amputated. Without having you guys have to
do too many checks, I will let you know.
As you're looking at the charredcorpse of the Shambler, you do
see that the claws on its hands were like steel claws.

(02:18:14):
Just absolutely the cause of allthe claw marks that you see
around The Cave as it was clawing and digging and turning
this cave into its Blair, burying a hole in the side of
the mountain where it was dragging stones and chunks of
things and shuffling out down the side of the mountain.

(02:18:38):
And then with whatever it was doing with some necrotic power,
whether it was from it itself orthe mysterious tiefling that you
saw before she disappeared, it was raising the dead.
Effectively it it's safe to assume it was the cause of
raising the dead corpses up out of their graves, as well as

(02:19:01):
bringing to life some of the corpses both in the graveyard
and the catacombs. With that, you all feel fairly
certain that with the slaying ofthis shambling fleshy worm
creature, you have ended the threat to the graveyard.

(02:19:22):
It'd been long tracks back home to get my gold.
Unless anybody would do or say anything here in the caves, we
can proceed to all of you returning back to the borough.
And to go, I have the worm head with no worms attached to the

(02:19:44):
Grave robber's head that's on myside.
OK. Is anybody?
I didn't investigate any of the other parts of the cavern,
though I may want to. Do that.
Just for the sake of pacing, I am going to say nothing super
notable. It was just a place where the

(02:20:07):
dead were gathering. Gotcha.
OK, yeah, in that case, I'm I'm ready to head back to town.
Suji. Is anybody else anything?
Nope, I'm good. I'm good.
Vaileth, I'm good, all right. Everybody makes their way back

(02:20:28):
out of the catacombs, the doors sliding shut behind you as you
leave. And outside you hear the voice
of a dwarf say, oh, you lived. Are are you going to take me
back to town, to the temple? I just want to walk over him and
tell him that we're dying and then let him re die.

(02:20:51):
OK, thanks for your help dwarf. So Suji is going to go and like
try and yeah, like Omar's back and like put him in kind of like
a piggyback sort of oceans they.Just tie him on to me.
I will take him back to the temple.
OK, yeah, you you pick up and carry the corpse of the

(02:21:14):
gravekeeper. You all make your way back to
town. You are able to drop off the
body at the temple. There's a couple of priests
there. They do tell you all, well
absolutely we can bring him back.
It will cost 1000 gold and 1 diamond.
Can't. Afford that.
Suji will donate whatever gold we were being paid from this

(02:21:38):
job, but he doesn't have a diamond.
And he just looks over towards Mithra.
Yeah, and Mithra and just kind of looking.
I don't know if you came to the temple with me, but he's just
like I got. I got a stare of.
Whenever he meets. Back up with him, he'll say.
He's just kind of looking at him.

(02:21:58):
OK, you all make your way back to the town hall, which is also
the place the sun is just risingover the the far reach of the
horizon slowly rising up the shards of the broken moon
cascading across the sky as the blue black of night gives way to

(02:22:22):
the warm orange glow of dawn. As you enter the he, the gosh,
the the governor, Kendall Brack is walking across the main room
as all of you push your way inside, fully dressed like in
his nightgown, still like here in the early morning, he hasn't

(02:22:43):
woken up at all. And he startles as all of you
bloody, gory, muddy, wet from the river and everything else.
And he startles and he goes, Oh my, oh, oh, mothers save us, the
five of you. Well.
He does well, he starts to talk.I cast truth, cast craft around

(02:23:07):
him and it's just, you know, ghostly voice saying you need to
pay them more or the family willbe ruined paying more or the
family will be in ruins. Is anybody else doing or saying
anything? To Suji.

(02:23:29):
All pipe. Pipe in and just be like.
We also need a diamond for your grave keeper or you will need to
find someone else who managed the grave.
Nithra, roll me a performance check.
They got a 4 -, 1 for three. Black like bustles up and and

(02:23:57):
squares his shoulders and he goes dude stop that nonsense,
there's no such things as ghosts.
You all are filthy and disgusting and you little you
little Ninja Man. I'm not paying a single rusted
copper for some grave keeper whomanages the poor dead people.

(02:24:21):
I'll just hire a replacement forhim.
There's no shortage of people intown looking for jobs.
Speaking. Of jobs and as he said that I
use my druid craft to snuff out all the lights and say I think
you made the spirits angry. Yeah.
Can I test mine? Can I test minor illusion?

(02:24:46):
Yes, what are you? What are you making an illusion
of? I'm asking you at the DM.
It says I can either do one, butI kind of want to do like sound
and image. I want to test like the like the
grotesque creature that we chilled and I want just like the
sound of him, like throwing up words right in front of him.

(02:25:09):
Give. Me.
Geez, yeah, give me Arkana checkor performance, your choice.
You know what I'm going to say with putting out the lights and
everybody looking absolutely terrifying in your bedraggled

(02:25:30):
state. He's.
He. Shouts once, throws his hands in
the air and turns and runs, his nightgown billowing behind him
as he screams, running through his own halls and is shouting
about worms and dead things as he does.

(02:25:51):
One of the Knights who had guided you out when you first
arrived and started this walks up slowly from the other
direction, walks up to I think it was Kayla who who had kind of
said that he was the leader of the group.
And he hefs up a bag of gold anddrops it in your hand, Kayla.

(02:26:18):
And he says it sounds like you took care of the problem.
Is that right, comrade? He looks towards the screaming
running Governor Kendall Brack and he says I'm not going to say
good job, but I am going to say if we have work in the future,

(02:26:42):
come find me. Thank you for the payment.
Thank you for dealing whatever was in the graveyard.
Sujio just gave him an honorable.
Bow as he and. He's got a good.
Smile on his face too as he's he's honored us with this.
He gives you a empire salute back and it is a equal level of

(02:27:07):
respect. Are we?
Are we in your office? You're in the main entrance way
of. That town hall, I want to.
I'm bloody. I have blood.
I'm going to write in the wall or leave right here in blood.
Give me are are you trying to doit where he doesn't see?

(02:27:31):
Yeah. Give me a stealth check.
Other than that one, so too. OK all 5 of you can leave.
Thank you so much for giving me more work to do.
Thank you so much. You can all go back out the door
you came through. And as you all shuffle out you
hear him sigh heavily and he goes damn it now we have to wash

(02:27:54):
the walls or count. Governor Bracks going to lose
his mind and I. Make it rain over the hurt, the
blood on the wall, No. Because that is not our.
Ending our session painless. Drawing in blood on the.
Walls and all of you being ushered out and the captain of

(02:28:17):
the guard muttering and complaining to himself.
You have all been paid your goldfor this two shot.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
