Again, that is K the number 9 finance.com and you can find
(01:08):
them on X with the same handle at K9 Finance and be ready to
run with the pack. The world is breaking.
(01:30):
In the north, rivers freeze in an instant.
In the east, thorns wallow fleets hole.
In the West, kingdoms burn beneath fire that falls from the
sky. They call these powers the Prime
Ordeal. Swords of gods, demons.
No one truly knows, but all agree on one thing.
(01:54):
Wherever they stir, only ruin follows.
Yet here in the capital city of High Crown, the banners still
fly. Music and laughter echo down
cobblestone streets. Tonight, the people dance.
They dream, they cheer. Because tonight is the Festival
(02:15):
of Blade, a celebration of tradition, strength, and unity.
A unity that will not survive the night.
Welcome to D&D 721, Shards of the Fallen Flame, a Dungeons and
Dragons actual play podcast. Our adventurers gather in a
(02:37):
world scarred by the power of the Prime Ordeals, beings whose
shadows fall over every Kingdom and every soul.
This is act one. Ashes of the Old World High
crown is alive tonight. Banners ripple in the warm
summer breeze, painted with the golden crown of rosewood veil.
(03:01):
Vendors shout over one another, Hawking roasted meats and spice.
Cedar jugglers tossed knives to the applause of children.
In the city square. A wooden arena has been raised
for the coming tournament, the heart of the Festival of Blades.
(03:22):
Among all of this, we find you. Each of you is here for your own
reason, duty, survival, curiosity, or perhaps something
more. As the crowd presses in and out,
the festival began. Tell us, among this chaos, what
do we see? Your character at the festival
(03:45):
and we will start with our firstplayer, MUD.
Please introduce yourself. Hello everybody, what an
introduction Farkoshi. Hello everyone, my name is Mud
and I am here today playing Sivarnix.
Sivarnix, the Cobold wizard, butyou know, he's Nix to his
(04:09):
friends, if he had any. Nix has been traveling for
longer than he can remember at this point, that months, maybe a
year, and he has been traveling, trying to get away from the Iron
sigil, and he finds himself finally in the land of High
(04:35):
Crown and little cobalt. Nix with his kind of tattered
grayish robes. He's got dark scaly skin,
pointed sharp cobalt teeth. He's got just bright yellow eyes
and a big old fopish wizard hat on top of his head.
(04:58):
He has a backpack that has a bunch of gear that's jingling
and jangling in it. You can hear like the sounds of
bottles. He's got several empty vials
that are on his belt and other alchemy tools in his backpack,
and he is walking down the streets of High Crown just head
(05:19):
on a swivel looking at every single thing around him.
He's probably got like a Taco inone hand and some kind of like
deep fried treat in the other hand.
Just all smiles and excited to be in a place where he's no
longer being chased or hunted. What a happy little lizard.
(05:41):
Let's hope his excitement of this world will stay that way.
And then with that, we have a newcomer to D&D 721 being what's
in forbidden or not forbidden, but a lost episode.
Jay, tell us about your character.
(06:01):
Hi everybody, Jazzes or Jay here.
My character is Garmile Brightbeard.
He's in town looking for work, also just coming out of the
Wilds looking for his brother who's been gone for the last 50
or so years, left in a bit of a tragic incident we'll say.
(06:24):
But yeah, he's got a he's a regular looking dwarf, though
he's not quite as barrel chestedas every other or if you see
walking down the street and he almost seems to kind of glide
rather than walking, if it's, ifthat's possible, kind of a Gray
over robe. He's got some holes, burn Marks
(06:45):
and whatnot in him. He's got like a a bit of a
Mohawk on top that goes back into a braid at the back of his
head and then shorter beard, although a little bit more
grizzled and seems like unkempt from a bit of time out in the
Wilds and whatnot. And yeah, nice, I love it.
A dwarf with the nibbleness of an elf.
(07:08):
It's going to be interesting to see what he gets into.
And and that will bring us to the crypto therapist.
Please introduce yourself and your character.
Yeah, hi everybody, crypto therapist here.
Back for another fun session here.
We got the campaign going on so it's going to be fun.
(07:30):
I will be playing this time character named Dax Church.
The reason his last name is Church is because he was
actually raised as an orphan in a church and kind of thought a
little bit about the ways of theacolyte, although he is not
particularly an acolyte himself. But it did rub off on him a
little bit. And he kind of discovered his
(07:51):
innate magic as a sorcerer over time, which kind of was
discouraged a bit within the church.
And they kind of thought it was a little too aggressive focusing
more on, they wanted to focus more on healing abilities.
So he isn't. He discovered that he's an
Azamar sorcerer with some training in the ways of the
(08:13):
acolyte, raised in a small town just outside of High Crown by
the local clergy there. And yeah, look, looking forward
to get this campaign started. Yeah, it's it's always a
pleasure to have you. So glad to see you joined the
campaign. Looking forward to playing with
you. And that brings us to my other
(08:35):
favorite player, Waldo McCoy. How you doing Waldo?
Tell us about your character andyourself.
Thank you, Berkoshi. What's up?
What's up? Waldo McCoy here.
I'm playing Auricar. He is Elvish barbarian.
He's from from the Robes Vale and he's a he he likes he likes
(09:01):
to stack rocks and climb rocks and let's see got his great axe.
He's got these pointy heirs. He's about 6 foot tall 300 plus
pounds, beefy, beefy elvish barbarian.
He's got some tribal tattoos andhe's wearing his robe, but it's
(09:25):
also got some elvish symbols on it.
And he's he's kind of walking around looking to get into a
contest or something, maybe maybe win something and have
some fun because he's heard about some.
This might be a good time because he's from around the
area. Yeah, 300 lbs, but that is
(09:47):
valid. Muscle lady, that sounds like
you'll be a good contestant for the Festival of Blade.
Let's see what you get into. And that brings us to the one
that makes us all sound so great, the best editor ever,
Yamas. Hey everybody, Yamas here
(10:10):
playing something a little different today.
I am playing Porvold Thorn, a sandy green portal sorcerer.
He grew up, or well, yeah, he kind of grew up in the coastal
outskirts of the Crimson Empire. And I don't really want to
(10:32):
reveal too much of his, like, deep back story just yet.
But essentially he is here in he's spent his life kind of
nomadically, you know, walking up and down the coast doing odd
jobs in small fishing villages and whatnot.
And he came to High Crown drawn by a rumor that some sages and
(10:58):
wandering scholars have gatheredfor the festival.
And he's hoping that so there's somebody there who can help him
understand some symbols that he has on his shell.
Outwardly, though, like to everybody else, you know, he's,
you know, wearing a kind of a Cape or something to cover up
his shell. And he's posing as a curious
traveller seeking work as a guard or a healer during the
tournament. But his true purpose is
(11:22):
expanding knowledge about the world around him.
And like I always heard as a kid, knowledge is power.
So with this session we're keeping it kind of light.
It's all fun and games of festival.
Besides you guys are walking around this festival.
(11:43):
There are different contests like strength contests, lifting
bales of ale, breaking the logs or arm wrestling.
There's archery challenges, there's wits puzzles, there's
St. acrobats there. So anything you want to go and
(12:07):
participate in, you're more thanhappy to Shopping is available
if you guys want to go looking for anything specific food to
shop, eat, anything of the sort.So with that, we'll start at the
top with Mud is there as you're walking around the festival, is
(12:31):
there anything you want to take the part in?
Yeah, Nyx is like taking bites of one food and then the other
walking along. He's gonna see, you know, kind
of the crowd that's gathered around.
I I think you called it witch puzzles wits like.
(12:53):
A battle. With yeah, he, he, he's gonna
wander up to that and yeah, he, he wants, he wants to check that
out. He's going to see what's
happening at the the battle of wits.
OK, so you're, you're walking upto the battle of wits.
There's just stages there givingriddles to contestants and
(13:18):
they're, you know, they're sitting there trying to guess
and a lot of them are getting frustrated and walking away.
A couple here and there, you know, solves the riddles.
The crowd cheers, they get theirlittle token and, you know, walk
away. Would you like to try to solve
(13:39):
one of the riddles? Yeah, he, he walks up to one of
the sages. He's handing them out and he
reaches up and like tugs on his sleeve and he says, I, I I'd
really like to play. I'd like to play one.
I want to guess. Give me, give me a Riddle.
You want to play little one? He like, scrambles up on, stands
on the table in front of him andgoes, yeah, yeah, yeah, give me
one, give me one. OK, well, well, no.
(14:03):
It's like I'm just going to givea generic Riddle he gives you
and make your role, is what I'm saying.
Oh, gotcha. Gotcha.
OK. Yeah, because it's it's a
mechanic thing. So you can pick either an
intelligence or an insight and give me a role for that.
(14:23):
And it's DC-14. OK, well I'm gonna go with
Intelligence 7 + 3 for a 10. That is a fail.
First the. Role of the campaign, like he
he, he reaches into his backpackand he pulls out his oversized
(14:46):
wizard tome and he goes, what? What is this Riddle?
This wasn't in the book. I didn't read this in the book.
Is is this like? Is this a trick Riddle?
Is it? He kind of laughs and just Pats
you on your head. Oh, little one, it's OK, these
are hard. And then with.
He starts scribbling the Riddle like in the in the margins of
(15:07):
his book, and he like absent mindedly wanders off.
I'm going to figure this out. I'll figure it out.
I'll find the answer and. Then with that, we will go to
Jay. Are there any other contests you
would like to take part in? Yeah, Garma will saunter up on
over to the the archery targets there and see who's behind the
(15:31):
essentially the whoever it is who's carnival worker
essentially talk to them What what you what kind of prizes you
got for for these target practice here.
They're just nice little trinkets.
They're gold little emblems of Roosevelt's Festival of Blades.
(15:55):
They're, you know, worked probably 5 gold total.
They are made out of solid gold and they are just like a status
symbol saying that you conqueredsomething at the Festival of
Blades. All right.
Well, I kind of kind of say all that great with a bow or
whatnot, but I've got a little hand crossed bow I could use.
(16:17):
Does that would that work? We'll allow it.
So just so you know, you have tohit all three targets.
The first one you know there's three targets set up, 1 you know
X amount of feed out and then a medium one even a little
farther, and then the last hardest one farthest away.
(16:42):
So for the first one it is an archery attack roll with attack
with an ACF 13. Okie dokie, here we go.
Oh, that's a 16 for the first one.
All right, so you, yeah, take aim.
You look at down the barrel of your crossbow and let go and you
(17:06):
hit, you know, not dead center but off, you know, just a little
bit. It's a pretty impressive shot.
The crowd is cheering. So look, give me one second to
get her description. She's about 6 feet, blonde hair,
(17:29):
one really ice blue eye and thenone amber eye.
And she's just decked out in, you know, red and silver battle
gear, you know, full plate minusthe helmet.
(17:52):
She has a sword and shield with the Rose lift Violet emblem on
it, which is Phoenix rising up into the sky.
And you know, she has she has a general, you know, good nature
vibe about her walks up to you and just pat you on your back.
(18:16):
Oh, that's a great shot. Let's see what you can do with
this other target. And the other target is let me
switch back AC15 to hit. OK, short thing Mom, a good day.
We'll see. I might just be warming up, or
it might have been lucky. We'll see.
(18:37):
Oh, next one is 13th to hit. Oh such a such a great first
shot, but don't, don't give up. I I see potential in ya and she
walks away. Just I take out my my little
pipe and I start stuffing some tobacco in it and lighten it up
(18:59):
and just kind of put that up to to grandma's mouth and takes a
few puffs and then proceeds to the the third surrogate here.
OK. And then this one is ADC 18
ready. Oh, it's a natural one.
(19:26):
You. Not that bad.
Yeah, it take a you know, you'rehyped up.
You're like, I got to hit this one.
I did the first one. Great, can't disappoint.
(19:46):
And then all of a sudden, you swear, you hear your name called
out and you just turn your body and shoot the prioritor of the
contest right in his foot. He gets very angry, yelling at
you just, you know, nonsense andanger, you know, telling you to
(20:08):
go away. Oh.
Yeah, my, my, my bad. This thing must be broken.
I'm taking it to the Smithy right away.
Yes, you better get right on that, you foolish dwarf.
What are you doing? You're no Archer, just like.
Like troubles a little bit and walks away as he smokes more on
a on his pipe. All right.
(20:30):
And then with that, that will bring us to the crypto
therapist. All right.
You said there was strengths archery riddles.
Was there another one? Yeah, hold on.
Let me switch back to that tab. So there's different strength
contest that archery, the wit's puzzle, and then there's
(20:53):
different St. Acrobat, like night tossing.
There's the tightrope set up where there people are walk
trying to walk across. And then there's people standing
with apples on their heads getting knives thrown at them
into the apples. Yeah.
And that's, and that's kind of it.
And there's of course tables with food and feast going on ale
(21:18):
everywhere. All right, I'll try the
acrobatic one I guess. Oh, OK, so you, you know, you
don't want to try to do the tightrope.
Are you throwing knives at a bowl?
At standing on a board. Probably tightrope.
OK, so that will be an acrobatics check for DC-13.
(21:45):
All righty, let's see how we do here.
Oh good Lord, that's not good that.
Way I didn't see it. Hold on.
Oh no, another Nat one. We're cursed out of the game,
Sir. Everybody is.
(22:08):
Good thing this is the fun portion of it and it's the games
and not life and death situations.
Get them out now. You should get them out of your
system now. So basically I fall off the
tightrope. Yeah, you you climb up, you you
(22:29):
go to walk across, you get about5 feet across, and then all of a
sudden you just start panicking and you fall off and take the
roll. Max damage of four.
Yike I have egg on my face. Would you like to try to climb
(22:57):
up and redeem yourself? Not really, but I will just
because it seems like the right thing to do.
OK, after the you know, guy you know is laughing at you for
falling, come on you give it another shot.
You you can do better than that.I'm a woozy, all right.
(23:20):
Sure, why not? I'll give it another try.
No more strong winds, eh? Right, right. 11.
What did I say? I think it was 13.
Yeah. Oof.
So you you know, you you get back up there, you know, you try
to redeem yourself. You take a couple of deep
(23:43):
breaths. This time you make it about 10
feet out and you kind of fall, but this time they they're more
prepared for it, watching for you and they catch you as you're
falling down and you don't take any damage.
Yeah, by now they probably have a whole team on me, just waiting
for me to fall. Yeah, you're a liability.
(24:05):
You know they don't have insurance.
Clearly. Would you like to try while
you're there? Try any other nights boxing.
I suppose what would that be? Is it performance St.
DC-13? Oh yeah, I could do that.
(24:28):
Yeah. I'll just say that, you know,
clearly acrobatics is not my thing.
And so you know, let me see if Ican throw a knife or two.
All right, so you walk up, you know, the guy gives you 3 knives
to throw and he's like, and thenthey're not real people, they're
dummies at this section. But there are professionals
(24:49):
really throwing with real peoplestanding there and they're
taking volunteers from the crowd.
But for yours, it's just a dummyso no one gets hurt.
And their arms are, you know, stretched out.
And your goal is to kind of throw it, you know, one the
other head, you know, one by their side and then one in
(25:09):
between their legs. Yeah, that's the way he explains
to you. And then he gives you the the
knives and I'm going to roll. I'm.
Going to look at the dummies andand visualize a tightrope.
And visualize A tightrope. Well, get the point across.
(25:35):
Let's see. Are you, you said performance,
right? Yes.
All right, here we go. Here we go.
See that? Oh, Nat 20.
Did I ever prove myself? Yeah.
So. And you, you, you're getting
cocky. You're like, you know, I got to
(25:56):
redeem myself somewhere. So you, you toss the knife up in
the air, you catch it by the blade and, you know, whip it
down and it goes right into the board right by its head.
And everybody's just cheering and it's just amazed.
And now Selena, the same woman from earlier, walks up to you
(26:22):
and is very amazed. And it's like, that was a great
throat. Let's see if you can do it
again. Well, thank you.
Thank you. And I'll look over at the
tightrope and point to my eyes and point to it.
And then I look back at the dummy and throw another nice
man. This one I got a levy, so not
(26:42):
quite as. So not, not quite it, it still
hits the board at least. And it's not an embarrassing
thrill by any means, you know. So you know, she she kind of
nods her head and says, OK, you know, you have one more look.
Let's see. Let's see how you end this out.
(27:04):
All right, here we go. Last one 15.
Let's say now you shrug. This one, it goes right down in
between the legs. Perfect.
You know, You know the distance between each leg, you know.
Selena nods in approval and saysAh yes, we could use warrior,
(27:26):
you know, thrown with those kindof skills in the army and just
kind of walk starts to walk away.
Well, thank you. Is there any prizes for this or
just? Kind of.
You know, recognition, Yeah. Well, so Selena walks away and
the person running the the contest, I guess great job.
(27:49):
You know, you did two or three, so we'll give you this silver
emblem and Hansetti, it's worth, you know, probably about 10
silver pieces. And it's just emblem of a
phoenix on it. And it says Festival of Blades.
(28:10):
Thank you, going to hang on to this.
All right, And then with that, it will bring up to Waldo McCoy.
Was there any contest you'd liketo partake in or food or drink?
Well, or a car as he's walking down the, you know, down the
(28:33):
main little path and he's, he's kind of looking around and he's
wanting to, he's looking at someof the strength contests.
So what, what do we got for that?
Like lifting cakes, I heard. Yeah, so there's lifting barrels
of ale, breaking logs, or you can arm wrestle.
(28:54):
Oh. Let's see, let's let's, let's
arm wrestle. Oh, OK.
So there's, you know, kind of like in parks where you see
people sitting there playing chess, you know, at those little
tables, the same kind of concept.
There's people, you know, just arm wrestling.
(29:16):
It's the best of three. It's a strength.
Nope. Athletics of DC-13, so you can
go ahead and sit down at one of the tables and try to be one of
the strong men. All right, Orkar, he so he he
(29:39):
kind of flips the the hood off of his robe and and kind of pull
ups the robe back and sits down and thumps his elbow on the
table and wiggles his thumb and rolls and eight.
So you sit. Down but This is why we do these
(30:10):
you know fun episodes so these rolls.
Get out the way. See you, you send down, you
know, get you're confident you're going to win.
You know, you're 6 foot 300 lbs solid muscle.
(30:31):
You go put this, you know, 5 foot little halfling all of a
sudden just downs you in an instant.
And you're, I mean, shocking youand the entire crowd.
And she just kind of smirks at you and says, ah, one more nine
(30:53):
wins. Horikar says fair, fair.
OK, well, let's go again. All right.
Nice you for thrown down and let's see what you got.
Oh, Horikar grunts and that rolls AA17.
(31:15):
That's a, you know, this time, you know, you're not going to
let her appearance distract you.Your pride's at stake here.
You will not lose, though. They say go, and you just slam
her down, and she's now shocked, like, oh, so maybe you are
strong. OK, that's the three.
(31:38):
Let's go. All right, give me your best.
All right. Oh that is a fail Then you 2 sit
there and struggle back and forth.
You know you you know try to finish her quick again but she
stops you right away and slowly brings you back up to neutral.
(32:02):
You know you you take her down again and she just brings you
back. And on this last time you try to
take her but she just counters and forces you down and just
kind of grins and says so big yet don't know how to.
Use them or a car just stands upand and puts his hand out to
(32:26):
give her a shake. Then she she smirks and, you
know, shakes your hand anytime you want to go again.
My friend, I'm I'm Elizabeth. Hello, Elizabeth.
Maybe, maybe not arm wrestling next time.
Maybe well we can find other things.
(32:50):
Is there any other strength things you want to do while
you're in the the area? Oh, well, yeah, why not?
Let's let's just go see if we can lift a keg maybe.
OK, so they, they have, you know, different size kegs and
(33:11):
you gotta let's you know, kind of like with the archery start
with the instead of being closer, you know, it's a lighter
one than a bigger one than the biggest one.
And the first one is ADC 13. And what would you like me to
roll for that? Oh, it's still athletics.
Athletics. OK, how?
(33:34):
Bad. No 3020.
Nice. So yeah, you just go OK, and you
know, you just instantly pick this one up one handed and you
kind of look at Elizabeth and wink and then you get started
back down and yeah, now you got the third one to or the second
(33:57):
one to pick up. At 12.
That's 15. You cannot pick this one up.
So you go, you know, confidentlydo it and try to pick it up.
You you go with one hand at 1st and realize it's a little
heavier than what you thought. She tried to quickly pick it up
(34:20):
with the second one but she justlose it and drop it and the ref
says no no fail says but you canstill pick up the third one and
maybe walk out. This a semi winner.
He. He shakes his head and he he
gets over to the third one. And how about another 12?
(34:50):
No, so you, you go over this oneand you, you know, they're heavy
now. So you take it a little more
serious. You go to pick it up and you
know, you just start realizing it's a lot heavier than which to
the other one was by a lot and you know, see you you're using
(35:14):
all the proper lifting techniques, but this barrel just
will not budget and you know therefs flag.
You say time and say don't worry.
You know, not everyone can pick them all up.
But it was a good try, lad. That first one was impressive.
Good job. Or or or a car kind of salutes
(35:40):
him and then puts his head back on real quick and is looking to
go find a drink. Oh, right, then that will bring
us to the Yamas. Is there any of these contests
you would like to tackle? Honestly, I don't think I'd
really be good at any of them I unless there's like a drinking
(36:04):
competition, but I would think that.
You know, we we can do a drinking competition if you
that's what you're seeking out to do.
Yeah, I'm, I'm probably rolling over to the food and drink
stalls, the concession area and,you know, grabbing a bite to eat
(36:26):
in a spot to drink and, you know, kind of asking around
about jobs and seeing who all's around.
Oh. Yeah.
As you're, you know, walking around and asking about jobs,
everybody's like, Oh well, how much work these days?
And yeah, it's not looking like a good future either.
(36:48):
But don't know. This isn't the time for that.
This is this time from celebration.
Let's have a good time. Don't don't worry about work.
Just why don't you go have a drink over there?
It kind of points at a, a stall where you, you kind of see, you
know, a lot of people gathering and, and someone officulating.
(37:11):
So it kind of looks like there may be contests going on over
there. Right.
Yeah. I shamble on over.
You know, I got my 1/4 staff andmy bag called home and yeah, I
go, I go. I'm assuming stools or is it
standing room only? Kind of stall, No?
They're they're stools, they're all stools at a table and for
(37:34):
the contest, but you know, we'llgo to walk up to it.
A guy just kind of rushes you over says oh, oh, perfect, we
need one more for the drinking contest.
You Sir, you Sir, come, come sithere, sit here and kind of trip
into a stool. I.
Plop heavily down on the stool. Tired, I sat home at my feet and
(37:58):
prop up my quarter staff againstthe table.
OK, so now you're closer and you're you could see the
announcer guy explaining the rules.
Say either there's three rounds of drinks, you start with a good
brand and you know, work down tothe piss and see if you can
(38:21):
stomach it. So each round you will have to
roll ADC check, a Constitution savings throw and they will get
difficult as it progresses as the quality goes down and you
are trying to fight off being drunk.
So for the first, you know, so awaitress comes up with the first
(38:44):
round, and this is High Crown's finest ale.
And she sets it down in front ofall the contestants.
Oh yeah, man. Give me a Constitution savings
row DC-13 all. Righty I got a 19.
And that is a pass. So you grab this ale, you stug
(39:09):
it down. It tastes delicious.
It's probably. One of the.
Finest ales you've ever to had. It's got a bit of a honey bite
to it. Yes, yeah.
So couple of the contests, you know, you know, drink about half
and you know, they start hiccuping and saying, oh, this
(39:34):
is really good stuff and tried to drink more.
Two of them can't. And then you got, you know,
about three more guys that just finished it off with you.
And then the waitress comes up, brings another round and give me
another Constitution savings rowof BC 15.
(39:57):
All righty. Ah damn, does an 8.
It. Does the edge.
It was an 18 but bounced off theedge so I wrote a 2.
Oof. With that plus six, Yeah, yeah.
So yeah, you, you just, you drink it all, but you are now
(40:19):
drunk. I will, if you want, I will let
you continue to the third round, but you will have a plus or a -1
to your role. OK, OK, yeah, I'll continue.
I mean, I've been drunk before and I'll be drunk again, but I
(40:41):
am always up for a challenge. All right, so now, you know, a
couple of other guys, you know, they just couldn't stomach it.
They're puking it up, they don'twant to continue and now it's.
Just we got a bad batch, right? Yeah, yeah.
(41:03):
One guy turns. The other guy that passed to the
last round, you know, laughs andnods at you and says I think
you're right. And you know, it's only going to
get worse. And the waitress, you know,
clears the table. She brings 2 Miller ales, sets
it down in front of you guys. Give me a Constitution savings
(41:24):
through the C-18. All right, and this is a -1.
Yes. Well, plus 5 instead of +6.
All right, let's roll with. I've got a 17.
A -1 yeah, yeah, yeah. So you just can't stomach it.
(41:53):
It's. It's a speckles gone sour.
The other guy drinks about half of it and just pukes all over
the table and says yes this is some rancid ale and just passes
out. Big Torvald peeks behind the the
(42:16):
screen over there behind the bartender and the waitress and
whatnot and sees a guy pissing in a barrel that they're
scooping for these, for this round.
I, I said I think, I think Torvald would like peek around
the corner and see some guy pissing in a barrel where the
(42:36):
the bartender is like dipping the dipping a ladle in to scoop
out the mugs for everybody for this round.
It's gone sour. You know what?
I like it. Yeah.
Because no one passed. Nobody.
Wow. No, I and I was rolling behind
(42:57):
the scenes. I had few others with you and
they just were not rolling good either.
Oh, then for sure. OK, so with that, is there
anything else? Oh, well, I guess with you, you
would need to go find a place totake a short little rest.
(43:19):
You know, you're, you're just upset.
Yeah. Spinning a little after that
first delicious ale, the rest was just bad.
Yeah, I think, I think I would because I'm assuming the
concessionaire is all together. So, you know, I, I think I would
like also grab, you know, I saw I saw some little cobalt walking
(43:42):
around with some tacos and funnel cakes or something.
So I think I'd go grab some of those to kind of soften up this
sour beer gut I got right now and just grab grab some greasy
cheesy bready, you know, carbs and go plop down at a picnic
bench and kind of just sit there, you know, munching away
at the at the the foods. I'll start thinking about
(44:06):
Clipper Word, but the food. Fair.
Fair. Yes.
You know, just kind of, kind of looking over the crowd, you
know? Yeah, I can look.
So before I kind of move on, I'll stay.
As you're watching the crowd in your fuzzy mindset, it you're
(44:28):
kind of thinking for a festival, everyone looks sad.
Why is everyone so sad? Be happy.
It's kind of. What's your thinking?
Torvald is no stranger to seeingtowns like he, he was from the
Crimson Empire. So he, he, he's used to seeing,
(44:48):
you know, towns full of sad people, you know, festivals that
trying to brighten the mood but just ain't working.
So this is kind of par for the course for him, you know?
OK. Well that is what you're you're
seeing as the same as home feeling work like at home.
(45:10):
Home is my bag. So now I kind of went through
the list to make sure everybody got a little part of the
festival. I'll kind of open it up to let
you guys kind of explore the city a little bit more.
Tell me what you guys are doing and you know, just trying to get
(45:30):
you to have more ties with the world and interact with the
world. So if there's anything you guys
other contests you want to do, you know, as you guys walking
around, there is, you know, Flyers, you know, telling people
to sign up for the Festival of Blades fight, you know, you guys
(45:51):
know it's with wooden swords andall that.
Orville has no truck with physicalities.
He's he's, he's sitting here. Nyx is like, stomping around,
flipping through the pages of his book and has, like,
earmarked the page in the book where he wrote down his Riddle.
And like, kind of absent mindedly, he's walking along and
(46:14):
he, like, steps up on the bench and steps up on the table and
finds himself like, face to facewith Torvald.
And he looks up and he goes. Hey, hey.
Do you know the answer to this Riddle?
And he he reads off the Riddle from the margin of his book to
Torvald. Torvald looks at the Riddle and
then looks at his plate of French fries and funnel cakes
(46:36):
that this cobalt is standing on,and then looks back at the this
little cobalt. He goes.
No, I'm afraid I can't really help you with riddles.
I mean, I'm, I'm looking for help myself in that department.
But if you could read it to me, you know, maybe we can come to a
(46:57):
conclusion together. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Let me hold on. It's in in my pages here.
Hold on. It's one of these pages.
He like the book is almost as big as he is and he's flipping
through the pages and he's goingdamn it, damn it, damn it.
Which which dog eared page was it?
It was one of these. I wrote it down in the Mart and
he like turns and starts to likealmost wander off, like flipping
(47:20):
through the pages and he can't find the page where he scribbled
down his Riddle. And he turns back to Turbo and
he goes, well, I'll let you knowlater when I find it.
You, you look like a smart and capable little Sir.
(47:43):
Are you perchance magical? Torovel is saying this in a
hushed tone, because he's not entirely certain where High
Crest stands with magic. So he hasn't really seen magic
acts in this town yet. So, you know, he's being kind of
(48:04):
low key, but he notices like thethe the learned look of this
little cobalt and and is kind ofprobing a bit.
Yeah, Nick's also looks around alittle bit because he he he
keeps seeing like, magic and other things in this area that
are allowed. And he kind of, he looks left,
(48:24):
looks right, looks over his shoulder.
And then he looks back at Torvald.
And just with his big toothy grin, he snaps the book shut,
snaps his finger once, and his thumb is lit on fire with a
prestiditation cantrip. Yeah, yeah, man, I got all kinds
of magic. That's Are we allowed to show
(48:47):
that here? I'm pretty sure I also know what
those runes on your shell means. And then he turns around and
walks away. He Torvald really quickly like
pulls his Cape back closed and and tightens it up like looking
around frantically and and gets up to follow this little cobalt,
you know, not, you know, at a respectful distance.
(49:09):
You know, somebody who immediately knows about these
runes, about these symbols, you know, he, he, he wants to get a
bead on the guy before he talks to talks about them.
I I want to paint this scene As for the other players of what
they're witnessing. So why they're not really
hearing your conversation. I think as this little cobalt is
(49:33):
walking away and I always say turtle, turtle this, you know,
turtle chasing after, not chasing, but following.
It kind of stands out to everybody.
So you, you guys would know thisthis kind of happening?
Carmel just kind of raises his eyebrow as he's watching this
(49:53):
happening and and looks around and see if he can see any other
dwarfs in the the crowd here. Yeah, there's, you know it, a
lot of different races and species immigrate to the Royal
Roselift Vale for, you know, their views on magic and how
(50:13):
they treat users. So it's very diverse, all
different species. But just that scene alone,
there's not so many lizard type people.
I will say that is a rarity because very few actually take
their homelands to immigrate here.
(50:34):
But for George, you see Lenny. OK, could I go over and talk to
one who maybe looks like a local?
Oh yeah. Hello brother, just a moment in
your time if you don't mind. Yes, How can I?
How can I help you? A friend I.
Was just wondering if you've seen any other daughters coming
(50:56):
through this way. It looked looks similar to
myself, though a bit more fullerhead of head and might have
might have had a similar pipe onthem like this.
And he kind of raises the pipe up and he shows like the little
little gust of wind with kind oflike a silver filigree inlay on
(51:17):
on the outside of it. Well, suppose you've come across
anyone with something like this on them.
Oh, that's. Fine craftsmanship.
Fine craftsmanship indeed. Mind, mind if I hold it?
Take a take a better look. He kind of reluctantly is like
kind of puzzling it over, but then he he hands it over to him.
(51:41):
Yeah, yeah. There you go.
Yeah, he looks at it very close, you know, Puts his glasses on.
Yes, yes, fine indeed. Fine indeed.
Oh, who is the Craftsman that made this?
Oh well the well they gave us toeveryone in urgent company these
(52:01):
pipes, but specifically I'm looking for, I'll be honest, me
brother, he's a bit older than me as well.
I see he'd have a bit more of like the salt and pepper grey
hair going on, but he would havean identical pipe to this.
Now this is the first one I've seen.
Any hands are back to you. It's very nice.
(52:22):
I will keep an eye out of it. Oh, what's your name friend?
I am I. Am Flint.
I got a mile, got a mile. Bright beard.
Nice to meet you bright beard. I like that strong name.
Yes, if I if I ever see you again and I will keep an eye out
and let you know if I have ever come across of anyone.
(52:45):
Nikki, don't you suppose you know where I might find any kind
of information broker in town while I'm here as well?
With the festival going on, everybody's really busy, you
know, you know, partying and having fun waiting for the
battle arena to go on. So right now is not really a
(53:09):
good time. But maybe if you go and hang out
over at the food stalls, you know, everybody gets drunk, you
know, like to tell a good story, you might hear something there.
OK, I think for his time and then I'll head on over to the to
the food stalls. Right, so we got the cobalt
running. Not running, but walking away.
(53:32):
You know bragging how he knows these ruins a turtle follower.
I I got to get to know you guys names better and I will I
promise, but I have painted the scene couple of drawers talking
Waldo and crypto therapist. They think you guys are doing
while this is going on. Or a cars.
(53:54):
He's looking for some food. All right, so, yeah, you know,
you, there's food stalls all around, tables with, you know,
feet, you know, you pretty much just go.
It's, you know, family style. You sit down and just load up
your plate and eat off the tables.
There's drink everywhere. Anything you want there, it's
(54:16):
there. OK, so he or a car goes up and
he gets a gets a big old pint ofale and a plate of food and he
is looking around at the tables to find a good spot for some
conversation and yeah. Well you you find a spot next to
(54:39):
a dwarf smoking on a pipe. A fancy looking pipe.
What kind of pipe is that? Garminal looks over at the
Oracar and kind of shuffles a few extra inches away.
It's a pipe. Pipe We and in a military.
(54:59):
Military, huh? That's right.
Yep, Yep. What?
What kind of self respecting elfwith muscles like that gets
manhandled by a a halfling? I I saw that display and help
but chuckle a bit my slut. I just woke up, I haven't had my
coffee yet. Well.
(55:21):
I had to mute myself because I was laughing so hard.
My name's Oricar and yeah, I like to battle a little bit and
I hear there might be something like that going on later.
Real any coin to be earned in that.
(55:42):
Or a car raises his glass and says of course it takes a drink
and puts a mouthful of mashed potatoes.
That's the interesting choice ofdrink you got there.
Well, perhaps we'll see you in the ring.
Yes, Sir. Mind if I hang out here for a
little bit? Well, let's say 3 cities as far
(56:05):
as I'm I've heard. Yeah, it is.
Nix walks up to the table and slams the book down and he looks
at both of them across from him at the table and he says I found
the Riddle. I need someone to help me solve
this. And what would that be?
(56:27):
A little little fella. Are you gonna talk like that all
the time? That's the only voice I got, so
I suppose I will. I will.
That's fascinating. Where are you from?
And he's flips to the end of hisbook and he starts writing down
notes. Oh, just a tiny corner of the
(56:49):
world. Well, they, we, we call it the
Silver Wind Mountains. My At least that's what Mcclan
calls it. He points his pen at Orakar and
he goes. Is that where you're from too?
You're huge. Orakar kind of laughs and spits
a little bit of beer out and andsays no, no, no, I'm from the
(57:12):
Rose Vale. He writes that down too.
And he goes, OK, OK, I, I, I need to know the answer to this
Riddle, but also I, I need like four or five maybe hours of your
time because I, I need to like drop both of you guys in, in my,
in my sketchbook here. So I just need you both to like
hold really still for four or five hours and here.
(57:33):
And he reads the Riddle and he starts doodling them.
Garmell just chokes on that bit of smoke from his pipe as he
says four or five hours. And you?
Got to stand very, very still. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Don't move. Can I do another intelligence
(57:57):
check or like a a group check orsomething as we're looking at
this Riddle? The Riddle, Yeah, if I, I will
say all three of you are talkingand yeah, give give us another
rule. I'll say with advantage, I'll be
there. I'll I'll take the first roll.
(58:18):
It was a 19. That's nice that you you now
know the answer to this Riddle. He snaps the book shut, says
yes, thank you, thank you, thankyou, and he, like scrambles
across the table, runs past Torvald, back towards the Sages
who are handing out the riddles.Yeah.
(58:42):
Runs right up to the guy who like starts yanking on his
sleeve and he just starts sayingthe answer over and over the.
Guy looks at you. Look, give me a perception
check. Perception.
OK, 151415. Well, hold on, hold on.
(59:06):
You're sorcerer. I'm a wizard.
Well, yeah, I mean, yeah, I would.
Say I put my hand on his shoulder.
I put my hand on his shoulder and give him some guidance.
Yeah, if he followed me over, right?
Yeah, I was. I was, guys.
(59:26):
He was just. I was I was planning to to head
over to Toreville anyway becauseI was curious about the ruins.
Yeah. So yeah, yeah.
So he was kind of watching, yeah.
So, yeah, so we'll say the plucked one for the past and it
is the right stage. You did find the right one.
(59:49):
Yeah, Torvald is just really watching all of this.
And you know, so he's, you know, you're tugging on his arm.
He looks down and it just kind of chuckles at you and pat you
on your head. That's right, Little, you're so
smart. Did someone help you with that
or did you do it all on your own?
(01:00:13):
7030. OK.
And I guess And then he hands you a gold token with a phoenix
on it that says Festival of the Blades worth about 5 gold.
He snatches up the token and jumps up and down a few times
(01:00:33):
and runs over to his new friendsand he goes.
I got a gold token for the rightanswer.
Congratulations, little one. He looks at Torvaldo and he kind
of like cocks his head to the side and he goes, I was wrong.
I don't know what those mean. Those those are weird.
What? Dad, how are you stealing after
(01:00:57):
you just help this little tolerable inspire him and he
just kind of ignores you and runs off?
Oh. No, no, like, I, I was kind of
like moving along with him, likewith, with all of these, like
new friends he's making. OK.
Yeah, I'm. I'm a bit hurt that you would
(01:01:18):
tell me that you know these symbols.
Nick shrugs and goes. Well, I thought I knew them, and
then I looked again and I didn't.
I think, yeah, Torvald takes hiscloak off and he kind of holds
it out, checking for holes, you know, because he's trying to
hide it and, you know, I guess would see, you know, a handful
of, you know, travel worn holes in his cloak.
(01:01:40):
He goes. I need to get a new cloak.
Well, I just got a new gold coin.
I could get you a new cloak. You earned that gold.
Yeah, but like, you know, everybody here, everyone helped
me. Like, you know, you tried to
help me. I think I also stepped in your
French fries. And he, like, picks a French fry
out from between his toes. Yeah.
(01:02:07):
Oh, all right. OK.
I, I, I turned to DAX or wait, who gave me guidance was that?
That was that. OK, that was Dax.
I, I turned to Dax. I was just like, do do you know,
do you know a good cloak shop where we can get him a cloak?
(01:02:27):
Not specifically, but we could find one.
Yeah, we can find one. Actually do these ruins have any
like language component or are they just symbols?
I don't know, I, I was, I've hadthem as long as I can remember.
And he, he, Torvald is looking around kind of side eyed.
(01:02:52):
He goes. I'm, I'm from the, the Crimson
Empire. I, I don't know if I should be
talking about these, but they seem to glow whenever I use
magic. And he like, kind of puts his
hands over his mouth, like, like, I can't believe I said it
out loud, you know, I don't knowwhat they mean.
(01:03:13):
I. Mix holds up a hand for a nail
high 5. Corfold reaches down and gives
him a high 5. Yeah, magic man.
I like this guy. I can take, you can.
Take a look at him if you'd like.
Yeah, I'll look against you. Corfold like.
Hold on real quick as you yay magic, a person next to you just
(01:03:38):
kind of says yes. Crazy, all that being and it
goes back to what they were doing.
Yeah, what that guy said. Korvold is very, very nervous
and, and shy about this. But, you know, seeing a couple
of people who finally like are willing to offer, I mean, he's
(01:04:01):
had people look at him and not know anything.
You know, a couple of sages said, you know, head north, you
might find something somebody and seeing, you know, meeting
some people who are willing to talk with him about it rather
than shun him. He he very, you know,
skittishly, kind of nervously takes that cloak off his
shoulders, you know, folds it up, puts it in home and, you
(01:04:24):
know, kind of like showcases his, his back shell with the,
the symbols and some of the onesthat are on his front therapist
shell and says, yeah, if, if you, if any of you know what any
of these mean, I'm, I need to find out.
Oracor kind of like puts his puts his drink down and jumps up
(01:04:46):
and walks over and kind of looking around and Pats him on
the back and gets a little static electric shock from him
and just kind of looking around and all these at these symbols
real close. Yeah, I don't expect I'll sit.
Go ahead, Dax. If you'll.
Sit for me for a little bit. I can take a look.
(01:05:08):
Not an expert in rooms per SE, but I do have affinity for
languages. So yeah, let's, let's have a
look. I'll need about 10 minutes.
That's all right. Yeah, I, I sit, sit down on one
of the benches or stools at, at the, I'm assuming the same
picnic table where the cobalt had stomped on my French fries
(01:05:32):
and food. So yeah, I'm assuming we're all
kind of gathered around that table.
Yeah, I sit down and and kind oflet people look at it.
I'm I'm like shaking and and eyes darting around, keeping an
eye on, you know, the surroundings and and.
Go ahead. He says.
(01:05:53):
As far as I know, it's it's not any known language.
That's the only thing people have really told.
Me. Nick's rooms on a page of paper
and he's like, are are the runesetched into the shell or are do
they like just glow on like the surface of the shell?
So yeah, they are. They are seemingly a part of the
(01:06:17):
shell, like almost etched in, like there's a little indent,
but not like they were scratchedin, you know what I mean?
Got it. Like it's like terms would be
like a deformity on a turtle's shell.
He's like Indiana Jonesing it. He's like got a piece of chalk
and he's pushing a paper up against your shell and like
outlining it to get like a drawing of the of the symbol.
(01:06:41):
As far as roles go, I can just tell the group here I've got a +
7 to Arcana, but things like history, I am not very good.
I mean I got a + 5 to history I guess, but if anybody's got
something else better. Yeah, I'll go ahead and ritually
cast comprehend languages and see if there's any language
(01:07:03):
within the ruins that pop sound or any kind of symbolism that
looks familiar. While he's doing that, I will
also ritual cast identify, whichas a spell it lets me.
I can touch a creature through casting, and I can learn any
ongoing spells, if any, that arecurrently affecting it.
(01:07:26):
OK, yeah, I, I, I let them administer to my shell, you know
it while they're, while they're doing it.
I'm, I'm, I'm, they're all behind me and I'm like, I guess.
Hi everybody. I'm, I'm poor of old Thorn.
I'm from the Crimson. And he looks around.
I'm, I'm from the Crimson Empire.
As far as I know. That's where the you know, I
(01:07:49):
remember being or a. Close.
High and says I'll I'll be in the turtle club.
You seem turtly enough. Lizard folk unite.
The with the So there was the tech magic being cast on his
(01:08:11):
ruins and what else? Well, there was comprehend
languages and I cast identify. OK.
I can also just do an arcana check if you want to see a role
for the outcome. No, no, I I'm trying to think
(01:08:32):
narratively how to describe withwhat your guys are using it.
So you, you guys realize that the ruins are, are tied to
ancient rumors of the prime war deals.
(01:08:57):
But other than that, you, you sense they're magic, you know,
tied to magic. But that would be all you guys
would be able to determine with what you did.
So. Nix Like pushes the book in
(01:09:17):
front of Torvald's face and it'sturned to a page about sorcery
and innate magic, and Torvald like is tapping at the page.
He goes, dude, I think this is just the way you are.
The way I am. You just, you just be the way
you be, my guy. I suppose.
(01:09:40):
I suppose that makes this a little easier.
Then it's. Do you like them?
They seem dangerous, they seem people seem afraid of them and
I'm not sure what they mean. I point it or a car and I go.
Does anybody ever act afraid of you?
(01:10:01):
I don't care. I'm kind of an out.
You see, he doesn't care. I'm used to.
Have the room Have the rooms ever anything harmful to anybody
around you. Well, this one time, a band, you
know, when I was very young is when it kind of started.
(01:10:22):
I was travelling, you know, north, always north, and me and
Holmes sat down to rest and somebandits came up and all of a
sudden there was like a glow coming from my shell and one of
the runes shot out this bolt of light.
And then I don't know what happened to the bandit after
(01:10:46):
that. I passed out.
So I do know that there is something there.
I've also came across, you know,a wounded traveller as well and
and another a different room glowed and the guy got up and
his his leg was not broken or hurt anymore.
(01:11:09):
So I have been kind of learning that whenever I seem to do
something magical, there's like a corresponding symbol that
lights up. Well, that's interesting.
So when you pointed at the bandit, would you say there was
more like a warbling mass of like chaos energy, or would you
(01:11:31):
say that it was more like, you know, a, you know, like, like
just a burst of raw arcane energy?
It was like a bright purple light and.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's he's flipping through his
book and he holds up a page and it says Chaos Bolt at the top.
(01:11:53):
I'm looking at it, would this would this have a picture of of
what a chaos bolt would look like being cast?
It's a very poorly drawn picturedone by Nix.
OK. Well.
You, you seem to have a talentedhand with a pen that kind of
tracks with with what it looks like.
(01:12:16):
He looks around nervously, like he kind of wants to show it off.
I would look at Dad and I. Go can can can you do one of
these? One of what?
Do do, do you have, you know, like, you know, you've also got
like just magic in you. You're, you're one of those like
naturally talented people, unlike me, you know, but a, a
(01:12:39):
chaos bolt and I'm like tapping at the page and pushing in his
face. Can you can you cast one of
these? I could probably do something
similar, but I don't like to brag.
Typically unless I'm throwing knives, which I don't actually
use in real life, but yeah. I I don't suppose.
Yeah, look at Turvil and be like, yeah, go for it.
(01:13:00):
I don't suppose there's anywherewhere we can cast these at, is
there? Yeah, I suppose.
Barkoshi, would there be like, you know, you said you you said
magic is going on throughout thefestival.
Like would there be like a like a place where we see magic users
like showing off or or or testing their magic barricane?
(01:13:23):
Yeah, so you, you see it doing like in street performance, like
fire eaters. They're they're taking porches,
putting the fire down, holding the porch out.
Then there's not, you know, the porch is out and then they're
now they're shooting flames without their mouths.
And you know, there's OK, so there are random.
(01:13:46):
Bolts and. Stuff.
Yeah, it's. So there are random random
magic. Anything OK?
Yeah. I suppose for flavor, I suppose
what I would do to kind of show this, I, I don't really want to
(01:14:06):
launch a bolt at anybody or anything, but I suppose I would
use my frostbite cantrip and kind of not add a, a creature,
but like the, the ruined pile offood and kind of freeze it over
as and as I do, a symbol over myright shoulder glows like a like
(01:14:31):
an Azure, like an Arctic sky blue.
And the the plate of food freezes over rock solid.
Well, ice solid and I said I cando that.
He looks around nervously again.Airmail goes to see if he can
find Hold on one second. I'm going to go get the beer and
(01:14:51):
see if you can do that to that that one.
That's a really good idea. You should get 2 or you should
get 5. How many of us are there?
1234? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Get like 4. All right, 5 beers.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, OK, that take and do the
frostbite can't trip again over the beers and yeah, I I suppose
(01:15:16):
it's either they're going to be perfectly chilled or frozen
solid so. Nicks, Nicks watches you do this
and incorrectly says like, yeah, you just used a spell called
chill touch. So I would you you touch the mug
and not the liquid itself. So you're freezing the glass
(01:15:38):
making a a chilled glass. OK, OK, so I do have, yeah, I do
have a bit of a bit of control over it then.
Yeah, I, I, I almost like my eyes widen as as I don't turn
the entire thing into a solid block of ice.
And I'm like, yeah, all right, Igrabbed the beer before I take a
(01:16:03):
sip. I, I, I, I, I sniff it real
quick. I say which which barrel did you
get this one from? 1.
All right, yeah. Tentatively take the sip and
realizes that it's the good beer.
Yeah, again, PTSD from earlier. Yeah, very cautious about what
(01:16:27):
I'm drinking. Nix cheers with Oricar and just
double handed, lifts the mug up,just starts chugging at his
beer. Oracor cheers and chugs his
down. And then as you're cheering,
Oricar Elizabeth walks by and cheers with you and says, don't
(01:16:50):
worry laddie, remember next timeit chugs it down.
Carmel keeps getting me into like an Irish thinking mode with
Laddie. I love it.
Carmel Don't know. Don't take that as like.
I don't. I'm jealous.
(01:17:11):
I can't do the voices. OK, Yes.
Is there anything else you guys are doing this boxing?
I I suppose in this conversationguys.
Sign up for the You know, the Festival of Blades as.
(01:17:31):
I say I, I suppose we would be discuss, you know, like
introducing each other's like, you know, I, we don't
necessarily have to go through it, you know, role play through
it if we don't want to. But you know, I'd assume we'd be
like, you know, hi, like I, I introduced myself to you guys as
Tarvold while we're peeking at my shell.
So, yeah, so OK, yeah, you guys are sitting at this table,
(01:17:55):
Elizabeth just a cheered or car and kind of walked away and you
guys are still sitting there discussing.
Yeah, you are. He's like what?
So what do you guys know about this tournament as a single, as
a team? What do you guys, what do you
guys know? No, next to nothing.
(01:18:16):
But what about what you told me?Orcard kind of grabbed
Elizabeth. He's asking her.
Well, orcard for you, you're from the, you know, the area, so
you know that the festival of the blades is a big, you know,
tradition of the region. It's every year champion is
crowned big honors. They get a big feast thrown in
(01:18:40):
their name at the at the end of the battles, they get crowned.
The king comes out, says a few words.
It's, it's, it's, it's a big deal in the sense of renown, but
it's, it doesn't. And you, you win a little gold,
but other than that it's just for pride's sake.
(01:19:04):
I heard whoever wins gets crowned a knight, no?
I didn't hear that. You may want to check your
sources there. I'm pretty confident I heard
somebody say it. I I I don't remember who but
someone said it. I do an insight check on this.
(01:19:24):
Next you need to roll a deception check.
Well, that's going to be a big bad 5, OK.
So whoever challenged him, I need an insight check DC5 OK?
(01:19:44):
20 Dirty 20. Yes, Garmel and Dax, you both
know he is lying. Sure.
Grandma just keeps kind of puffing on his pipe, kind of
narrows his eyes, looking at oh,that's real interesting, I'm
sure, yes. It is interesting they don't
usually brown Knights. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
(01:20:06):
I suppose you'll be online to bebe coming on Knight here soon
then, won't you? That's my plan.
I mean, since they're letting people do it and everything.
Are you planning on wearing fullplate armor while you're at it?
I wouldn't. You just like to know.
You might be up against me, wouldn't you?
You'd like, you'd like to know that.
(01:20:26):
You want to know all my tricks, don't you?
Oh, just, you know, that's pretty traditional for for
Knights. Just wondering if you were going
to maintain the tradition or not.
I certainly could, but I haven'tdecided yet.
Going to break rank probably. That'd be my guess, but we'll
(01:20:47):
see. We'll see.
I'll I'll point you in the rightdirection to some some nice
armor if you're interested. Sweet.
I can see Nick's just like waddling along with just like a
single, you know, breastplate like arm sticking out.
Yeah, but we'll need an image ofthat to go created.
(01:21:11):
So let me let me see what I can make.
I'm going to take heat metal just to screw with them.
As you guys. Are.
Talking as you guys are talking,Selena walked up.
It just kind of nods and says, ah, yes, I, I know this song of
(01:21:32):
you took part in some of the contest, may have not won, but
you guys show great spirit. Love seeing that.
And then she raises her cup. Yeah, takes a drink.
And raises my cup to her and take a drink.
I grab the fifth extra ale and raise it and start drinking.
(01:21:57):
With nice cheers. I hope I can count on you when
it when it really matters. So, you know, time times are
uncertain right now are. You looking for any extra?
Oh yeah, we are always looking for extra arms, you know, in the
Kingsguard. Corvald perks up.
(01:22:18):
Yep, yes, yes. But for tonight we celebrate.
But we can talk about that in the morning.
And she walks away to go and greet other festival contenders.
Yes. You're that I'm going to be a
knight, I told you. That's right.
(01:22:40):
Congratulations. Is a guard here also a knight?
I don't know, I just figured anysoldiers a knight right?
No, a knight is a special kind of soldier.
Are you sure? I think so.
Hey. Generally how it goes in the out
of me, like for for myself, I'm one of a scout and I look to
(01:23:07):
really information to different units and whatnot before they
they reach certain areas. But and Knights generally are
the the heavy hitters I would say.
Yeah, well, you heard it here first.
Nix the wizard is going to be a knight.
Or a car just starts laughing and gives him a high 5.
(01:23:28):
High fives. You're going to be a knight,
brother. I want to help this little one
get his knighthood. So is there any other like magic
specific tournaments happening tonight?
No, the there's only the big tournament of the Festival of
Blades. It takes place with wooden
(01:23:50):
swords, so no one has killed. But there is really no magic
contest. Magic is being more used as
entertainment like like I was saying earlier with the fire and
the ice sculptures and then at night they do like firework type
(01:24:10):
things. With magic it it's being more
used in entertainment slash luxury of the festival.
Gotcha. Do we have a in for the night
already set up or do we need to get one?
You guys already have places to stay because you guys you know
(01:24:31):
came into town and well, I mean I guess that is up to you guys
if you have already got accommodations when you arrived
or not. I suppose got to.
Town like today he he had he hasno idea where he's sleeping.
(01:24:52):
He's planning on sleeping like in an alleyway.
Yeah, I, I suppose hearing hearing y'all talk about a place
to stay, I, I sheepishly say it will y'all are welcome to my
home. But it's he kind of like holds
the bag up in shrugs and and andsays, I was just going to tuck
(01:25:15):
in under a, you know, pile of hay or, or in the corner
somewhere unobtrusive. Or a car was just going to go up
in the in the rocks up there andstart a fire.
Yeah, I, I, I could follow you if if you want.
More and you guys are more than welcome.
(01:25:35):
I'll start a bigger fire. Yeah, one big.
Fire guys, I can go grab that one little keg that I could lift
up and we could just have a little party.
The tiny little pint cake, Yeah.Yeah.
That doesn't sound like a bad idea, getting out of town for a
bit, yeah. We'll go out and we'll have a
(01:25:59):
kegger around a bonfire and thenwe'll all get really good and
carbo loaded for the tournament tomorrow.
Let's go night, Knicks. High 5.
Night Knicks. Guys, go.
Do any of you register for the Festival of Blades?
(01:26:22):
Oh, absolutely most. Definitely.
Yep, Yep. OK.
You use magic in it or no? No.
No magic at. All.
No attack magic if you guys haveenhancing like.
(01:26:43):
Got it. Yeah, like gives you plus
something to your attacks or AC modifiers.
I'll let that go. But there's no attack magic.
I suppose Torvald would turn to Dax and say, hey, I, I suppose
everybody else, you know, in this little ragtag group of new
(01:27:04):
found acquaintances are, are joining.
I'm also not very good with a sword.
But it would be nice to have somebody, you know, He's
remembering back at how he was trying to help him with his
symbols. He goes, Be nice to have
somebody else with magic on, youknow, I'll watch your back.
If you watch mine, you know thatCobalt might win it all.
(01:27:29):
Absolutely. Us sorcerers need to stick
together. I can fight with a knife, but
it's certainly not my specialty.Thorvald spins his quarter
staff, You know, kind of deftly and, and sets it down and says,
I'm pretty handy myself. But I hear they're giving us
wooden swords, you know, so I don't know if they'll allow us
(01:27:53):
to have our personal weapons involved.
So you guys know how it will go?It will it.
The Festival Blades is 2 rounds.First round is a battle Royale.
Whoever joins plus a few NPCS, the winner of that will go on to
(01:28:18):
fight the champion. OK.
And it's all. Wooden swords or possibly dead
weapon. Like yeah, if you have all
wooden. OK.
OK. So quarter stats.
Wooden variations of our weapons.
Yeah. Cool.
(01:28:39):
OK, we could probably use a Porter stuff too I suppose.
Yeah, we can sign up I guess, before we head to the bonfire.
So there there isn't any like team events or whatever.
Well, I when I planned this out,I was thinking of doing like two
(01:29:01):
teams of two. Well I mean we can do teams that
too if someone wants an NPC. Gotcha.
OK, cool. Sounds good to me.
Yeah. I'm going to have to go buy a
quarter staff tonight. All weapons are provided.
Oh well, that works. They don't let you use your own
(01:29:23):
weapons because they for safety. That makes sense.
I do like to fall off of ropes and hurt myself.
Any safety helpful? Yes, yes.
Yeah. So do you guys want to register
as duos or as solos? I, I think, I think I already
(01:29:51):
haven't talked to Dax about watching his back and him
watching mine. I'd turn to him and say, you
know, we're still good, you know?
Yes, Sir, I'll team up with you all.
Right, I know it might not be the most effective melee
combination, but at least I knowyou won't put a sword in my back
(01:30:15):
being a fellow sorcerer. Never, never.
We got to stick together. Plus I'm a man of the cloth so
to speak, so I wouldn't do that anyway.
Yeah. Or of course, as you know, you
guys, you guys ain't got to worry.
You know, I've got some friends and family in these hills and I
(01:30:35):
know where we can go and we can be safe here at this party after
party. But I think we might have some
friends showing up as well. And yeah, I'm game for whoever
wants to partner up with me. I'll partner up with you, big
guy Brains and Braun, you and me, we'll both be Knights.
(01:30:56):
Or you could be my Squire, maybe.
I can be your Squire. We'll let you be the knight.
I climb up on his shoulder and Ipull out my rape here and I like
swishing around in the air and says we'll show them all.
We'll prove to them that we're Knights.
All right, guys, let's go register.
(01:31:19):
Let's see, Garmile, I've got some, I've got a friend that we
can register you with all. Right, sounds good not to not to
not too picky about who I sign up with.
I think they'll fit you here as a partner just pretty good well.
As you're saying that Selena says was walking by and slaps
(01:31:44):
Garmel on the back. What?
You need a partner. I'll I'll be your partner.
Hope you're you're better with your arms than you are with your
aim though. Just hidden.
Hidden I'll see you out there The tell him I'm your partner
Selena and she walks away. All right, we'll do.
(01:32:06):
I think she was making fun of you just a little.
OK insight Selena to see if she she was making fun of me.
Yeah, go ahead. I.
Think she may like you? I'll say decenten, OK.
That was exactly 10. You feel like she was poking fun
(01:32:31):
at you, not in a mean spirited way, but he did make a joke at
your expense. No, I think she would have
genuine gonna be signing up withher tomorrow.
Side note. All right, I mean, not like
right that's. You know, she sorry, she
definitely want to. She was 100% honest about
(01:32:56):
signing up with you, but she wasmaking fun of you a little bit
as well. So we get all signed up then?
Yeah, yeah, you guys go, you guys get signed up, everybody
has their partners. They tell you the time to be
there and to be in the waiting area.
The get armored up, get your weapons and all that before the
(01:33:22):
fight begins because make sure you're not late.
They won't accept late attendees.
There's so many people that cometo this, so make sure you're
there on time. I at Orekar on the shoulder, I
like, I'm still like sitting on Orekar's shoulder and I pat his
shoulder and I'm like, oh, don'tyou worry about us.
(01:33:42):
Nights are nothing if not punctual.
That's right, we will be early, bright and shine.
Well, when there's some nights here, you point them to me.
I would like to read them. Oh, you'll see them tomorrow.
OK, we'll see. Good luck in the tournament.
(01:34:06):
All right, now we got to see a certain somebody about a keg of
ale. You you go back to where the
food and the tables were. There's benders there selling,
you know, cups, you know, and there's kegs behind them, but
you don't really see anyone advertising selling of eggs.
(01:34:27):
Said anything about buying a keg?
Yeah, I was going to say horrible.
Which one was the really good one you mentioned that was part
of the? Competition points over to a a
small keg at the I guess top shelf.
I get if there's a shelf. There are no shelves.
(01:34:50):
Yeah. But.
He he, he actually doesn't pointto the open one.
He definitely doesn't point to the open one.
He says whatever you do, don't get that one.
Garbile we can make a distraction and you can grab it.
All right, I'm game all. Right.
I suppose with that as a distraction, I could, I could.
(01:35:15):
I know. I think what I'm going to do is,
is look up in the sky for any, you know, anything up there and
make sure it's kind of clear andunleash magic missile, you know,
aim it at the sky like fireworks, you know, and then
just let them come out of my shell.
I don't know if you want me to. I am doing it as a performance,
not as an attack. I guess I'm attacking the
(01:35:37):
darkness. You cast Magic Missile into the
darkness, so I don't know if youwanted me to do a performance or
whatever, you know? Yeah, performance would probably
be the best. I'm just taking a look.
As AI guess as a help action to their to their stealth.
(01:35:58):
I was just going to say like as a as kind of a help to the to
the overall attempt of creating traction.
Nick's still on Oricar's shoulders, like aims his rapier
at Torvald and gives Torvald like a great big like comical
wink. And he says, casting magic into
(01:36:21):
the sky. You fiend, I challenge you to a
duel. And yeah, I unleash magic
missiles 3 bolts into the sky where they kind of sinew up and
clash into each other in a showering of sparks and arcane
explosions. OK, with that I will do there's
(01:36:46):
three three different BCS for performance.
I will do 1013 and 15 and each one will in help increase
Garmel's chances of success on however he tries to steal the
(01:37:08):
barrel of ale and I will let youdo that with advantage with
Nick's helping perform with you.OK, OK, so I'm rolling a
performance check with Advantagethree times.
No, just one. Just once, OK?
There, there's three tiers of success.
(01:37:32):
OK. Can I can I do guidance on them?
Yeah, OK, +4 herd. Sorry, D4D four-star.
OK, right, first rolling my check.
That'll be a dirty 19. Let me roll AD 4.
(01:37:52):
Well, it definitely passed at the highest.
Rate and that's a three. So that's a total of 2022, yes.
So, Garmal, tell me, how are you?
Hey, it's been trying to steal this barrel of ale.
(01:38:13):
Great. So seeing this distraction, I'm
going to try and, you know, justsneak back to around the backs
of other people as the the opposite direction of where this
distraction is going and just try to, you know, avoid people's
eye contact. And as quietly as I can, just go
and kind of quickly swipe the barrel and tuck it underneath my
(01:38:36):
Gray outer cloak. OK.
So if you would like, well, since you're doing that, give me
a stealth check. DC-12 with a + 3, OK?
All right, that's a 16 + 3, so that'd be that'd be.
(01:39:00):
A 19? Well yes, you are very hidden
and now give me a slight of hands check.
You pass that with another +7. Oh wow.
I mean you guys succeeded at Maxrange on all of them one. +3.
(01:39:24):
Oh no. Well, I don't do. 7.
Fails on DC checks only on attack role.
OK, OK, thank goodness 4 + 7. Or if it's like more
role-playing like earlier I did make decks take some damage for
(01:39:48):
falling but I mean he he failed so he fell.
It's just logical he took damage4 plus.
The D11. Yeah, so that will be a pass.
So yeah, you do, because it was just DC-10.
(01:40:09):
But all your pluses beforehand, the distraction of your party
members and your stealth check, you are able to sneakily grab
this. I was going to say bottle, but
it's a keg of ale and slowly walk away without anyone
(01:40:31):
noticing it messing among the other few that are there.
Perfect. Just keep taking puffs and lift
my hood up and kind of proceed to towards wherever our little
rendezvous will be. All right, but you guys, you
know, everybody was distracted looking up at magic missiles,
(01:40:53):
thinking that the fireworks begun and then this crazy full
ball yelling about jewels and magic and they they just kind of
shrug and go back and about their business.
As as Garmiel is making his way with the keg, I lean in and
whisper into Orakar's ear. The goblin's in the bag.
(01:41:14):
Let's cheese it. I guess Torvald would follow
them out. All right.
Yeah. So you guys all meet up at your
meeting point, Would that be at the campsite or just like at the
gates leading outside? I think we'd go straight to.
(01:41:37):
The hood, yeah. Yeah, it is to the campsite,
which wouldn't be too far away if we're not like leaving the
city. We're just kind of like out, you
know, out of. Yeah, in a campsite near the
city. Like, we're not like, leaving
town. Right?
OK. You're you're still in like the
(01:41:58):
city limit, but you're not in the city.
Yeah. Yeah, you're, you're just kind
of out there in the where like the farmers would be and things
like that. So you can set up a fire and and
whatnot in safety. Yeah, can't really have a
bonfire in a Tavern or in an. Area.
(01:42:20):
Yeah, exactly. Well.
You stand. Depending on your character's
race, I mean, it might be OK to stand there.
Yeah, I like your trike there. Was it the Tri planes that are
fire resistant? Yeah.
(01:42:40):
Yeah. OK, so yeah, you guys make up to
you find a little area being that this is Orcar, it is a
little bit of climb. You guys are on a on the
mountain a little bit. Not too bad that way you're
you're a little more protected. You guys have your tents set up,
(01:43:03):
you got the fire going, and thenthe ale can be flowing whenever
you guys do. Yeah, I got.
Into it. Up the barrel and he'll turn
towards next and be like, well, Are you sure this won't be
breaking any of your nightly vows, my scaly little friend?
My friend Garmile, as I like, start pouring some into my own
(01:43:25):
mug. These be the spoils of war, my
friend. Well, if you if you insist
partaking of such deviously acquired goods, so be it.
Good. Nobody got mad, nobody got
upset. No one's chasing us.
I through that through that. Yeah, it's a quick question for
(01:43:50):
the players. What?
Are your alignments. Torvald is neutral good.
So this would be one of those things where he would view it as
it's for the good of camaraderie, it's for the good
of these these people are showing an interest in his, in
his symbols. So it's like it's for the good
(01:44:12):
of furthering his cause for for furthering his knowledge.
So but neutral good. OK, OK.
Our car. Our car is also neutral good.
No. OK, so far we're all making fun.
How about Carmel? What's his?
Yeah, probably neutral good as well, given that he's partake of
(01:44:37):
such a thing and. Then what is our little COBOL
friend? Nix.
Nix kind of falls right in the the top right intersection of a
little bit of like chaotic good, chaotic neutral, very much like
(01:44:58):
has been fleeing from, you know, tyranny and oppression and all
of these things. And he's young, he's energetic,
he's free. He doesn't really understand or
like respect laws because they've only worked against him.
But that hasn't made him evil. It's just made him kind of he
(01:45:19):
he, he believes in his own senseof right and wrong.
Yeah, OK. Yeah, neutral good in my, in my
estimation is you're not. You do what you need to do, but
you're not out specifically to hurt anybody you know.
Yeah, yeah. Like he's, he's not malicious or
(01:45:40):
malevolent. Like, at worst, the chaos is
just like a little bit of like some ADD kind of like
mischievous behavior that creepsup, but.
With information here and there.You know, I, I, I didn't really
get to like, clarify. He truly believed what he was
(01:46:01):
saying with no regard for how true it might be.
So like wherever he heard it or thought he heard it, he believed
it. Yeah.
And I was going to, yeah, I was trying to interject there saying
that you don't know if you know in Yeah, yeah, I forget exactly
(01:46:21):
what I was going to say, but I was going to point that out as
well. But we kind of moved back.
You got it. Yeah.
All right. And then DAX, what is your
alignment? I'm somewhere between kind of
like chaotic neutral and chaoticgood.
And I'm OK. Sort of a midpoint there, I
would say. I get the good from from the
(01:46:44):
church. I get the neutral from my just
natural conclivities. Fair.
Fair. I just want to, you know, do an
alignment check 'cause we did break the law and I, you know,
need to get to know your characters and our future as
(01:47:05):
well, so. Yeah, I like I kind of view it
as like just like Knicks said, you know, it's like the laws
have never really coming to swayin Torvalds life other than like
in the Crimson empire, like being kind of against him or,
(01:47:25):
you know, either against him or trying to use him so he hold
laws to him or just something ofcity folk, you know, just.
Just so you guys know, Horikar is feeling a little guilty for
stealing that tag and was. We can talk about it when we
(01:47:47):
drink. He was planning on getting up
with a hangover and when he got back there, maybe throwing a
couple of gold coins at the withthe keg owner.
OK, checks out. Yeah.
Yeah, they got to clear that conscience.
All right. So yeah, you guys are.
(01:48:09):
You guys can go ahead and continue at your campsite.
I suppose Torvald would be doinghis, he, he's exciting that he
can openly use magic in front ofthese people.
They, they didn't shun him when he did.
So he, he is every time somebodypours his let me cool that for
(01:48:30):
you, let me get that for you. And he, he kind of touches the
mug and, and, and freezes the mugs.
So everybody has a nice cold beer and you know, the fires
raging and, and we're all sitting around carousing and
getting to know each other, I suppose.
Yeah. And so real quick before we
(01:48:52):
continue, we have had a lot of liquor.
So we need Constitution checks, folks.
Say E12. Checks are safe.
Jacks, he doesn't drink, so he'll just watch the the sun.
OK. This be considered constitution
(01:49:14):
checker against poison. Yeah, checker is safe.
It would be, it would be OK. So I get advantage on that.
Wow, nice. Adore or saving, whichever you
prefer. OK, OK.
I already rolled a check at 9 orfield.
(01:49:35):
Road of 17. So that would be a 24 mile.
All right, nice high rolls except A. 5A5 for Knicks who has
never enjoyed such good beer before.
(01:49:55):
So you so Coral and Carmel, you guys are sober and fine, but
Next and our cars you guys are drunk and now roll with
disadvantage on any role. Gladly.
(01:50:18):
Yeah, so you guys are sitting atyour campfire, your alcohol's
flowing for some of ya. Dex is sitting there enjoying
your guys's company while you guys drink and talk.
So yeah. I suppose Torvald would be, you
(01:50:40):
know, he's a bit this is the first time in a long time that
I've sat around with other people.
I, I. So Torvald turns to the dwarf
and and says, I, I didn't quite catch your name.
It's it's Garmichael. It got a mile garmald beard.
(01:51:02):
Garmald, that is. That is a unique name.
Thank you, thank you. We're quite calm amongst many
dwarven clan mates, but I I can see how it could be a bit
unique. Yeah, I I don't meet many
dwarves. I usually stay coastal.
I don't normally get up into themountains very much so Yeah.
(01:51:26):
What what's what is it like being a dwarf or is that rude of
me? I'm sorry.
Oh, it's not, not rude at all. And I, we, we generally keep to
ourselves amongst the dwarves and whatnot.
And even for myself, I prefer, you know, being in the Wilds and
such, even traveling below the mountains and whatnot.
(01:51:48):
But you know, I'm not much of A young dwarf anymore.
But I served my time in militaryand several years ago my my
brother had left home for a while and he thought after a bit
he'd come home on his own. And I'm just out here looking
for work and seeing if I can track him down as well.
(01:52:11):
Maybe I can help you. You tried to help with my
symbols. If I can be of any assistance in
your travels. I don't usually travel with
people. He kind of looks around and
everybody and, and, and kind of speaks it a little louder to
address Everybody says I don't usually travel with anybody, but
(01:52:32):
if you guys were willing to helpme, I could help all of you if I
can. And you know, Garmile, if, if
you're looking for your brother, maybe we can help you find him.
He looks kind of expectantly butnervously at everybody.
Or a car looks at Garmile and says can I take a pull off of
(01:52:56):
that pipe? He's like a little bit iffy
about his his elephant companionstill, but he's like how short a
white knot and he he goes and packs a bit more of the tobacco
in there. I'm going to I'll have to go and
find some more tobacco once we get into town again tomorrow,
(01:53:16):
but it's on the run a bit low. But here, here you go.
And he passes off the his pipe over to the the surly elf.
Oracar says. Ha ha ha, yes, I'm in.
Well, it looks like we've got the muscle.
(01:53:37):
Nicks looks ahead Oracar and looks at the pipe and looks at
Oracar and goes You're not in, you're not in the pipe, man.
You you might feel like you're in the pipe, but you're not in
the pipe. You're you're you're, you're,
you're smoking the pipe, but you're not in it.
Don't worry. What's in that pipe?
(01:53:59):
Oh, it's like left home with it.It's a bit of tobacco that left
a little village outside of the territory of Silverwind.
They have, they've cleared, cleared water, a little village.
They grow some really good stuffover there.
Our car agrees, he says. It's pretty good.
I'll show you a local down in town here tomorrow.
(01:54:22):
Yeah, I'll try some. Nods and yeah, passes.
Allows him to pass the pipe overto the Cobalt.
Just kind of got a slight grin on his face because it can be
pretty strong stuff, but he's kind of gotten accustomed to it
over the years. Oh yeah, definitely takes way
(01:54:44):
too big of like a deep draw on it and immediately like hands it
back smoke like puffing out of his nostrils and turns around
and throws up. Orville laughs heartily.
It says now you look like a realdragon.
(01:55:06):
Right, right. That's great.
Good. That's, you know, it's got a
really rosy head to it. It tastes like it.
It like the the floor of a Shoemaker.
That's that's what it smells like.
It's real good. Real good.
I good stuff. Yeah.
(01:55:29):
It's the finest weed in the Shire.
That's why I always think of the.
Yeah, I suppose. Yeah.
Any assistant you might help with with finding a brother I'd
I'd surely I'd truly appreciate.Well, if you guys are like I
(01:55:51):
said, you guys offered to and hehe kind of side eyes the COBOL
and says, you know, you guys offered to help even though this
one here like Yep, just seems tosay whatever he needs to say.
You guys offered to help me. I have no problems sticking by
(01:56:11):
and helping you or. Nick's nod.
Not everybody can handle the arcane truths, it's true.
Horikar gets up to go relieve himself and he kicks Dax in the
in the foot and says what about you?
What's your story? My story yeah, it's not overly
(01:56:35):
exciting. I was orphaned as a young child,
never knew my parents. And yeah, they basically before
I was able to remember, they dropped me off at a church and
church raised me and, and it taught me some things about,
about the ways of the acolyte. And, but there was always
(01:56:55):
something in me that was different.
And, you know, I kind of discovered these kind of magical
powers I had kind of innately and but you know, they taught me
some things too. So I, I learned a little bit
about the, the ways of the clothand the ways of the acolyte and
a little bit of their magic. Not much, but a little.
And yeah, I've just kind of beenserving in the this church ever
(01:57:19):
since. But now I'm a bit, a bit older.
I thought it might be good to kind of get out and see the
world a little bit. So yeah, made my way over here,
which is not too far. Obviously.
I've heard lots about the tournaments over the years, but
I never participated. So this will be a first.
So it's good to be here with allof you and, you know, maybe we
(01:57:42):
could have each other's backs inthe arena and maybe win some
money. That'd be good.
Yeah, so so so your parents abandoned you too.
Yes, indeed. My tribe abandoned me.
Or at least that's what that's what I understand.
Well, I was. I was hatched with these
(01:58:03):
symbols, and no tribe would takeme.
Yeah, I don't. I don't know if I if I knew
exactly what they were, I'd definitely tell you.
But my guess is it's maybe some type of branding that's relative
to your magic. But hey, you know, you got a, a
whole new tribe here. And I think I can say at least
(01:58:26):
for most of us, we don't plan onabandoning you.
So there's a start. You.
Don't steal a keg of ale and turn your back on your fellow
keg, Steelers. Orville Dodds even more.
Well, seeing as how we're aroundthis nice fire fire pit here, it
(01:58:48):
only seems appropriate. Does anybody know any good
jokes? I'm scrambling.
I mean, I was too. I can look at the first if you'd
like. I got a joke I can share with
you guys. You know, break the ice a little
bit more, All right? So why was the blacksmiths so
(01:59:12):
resentful? I feel I should know this one.
He always had an axe to grind, but.
Lets out the loudest belly laughthat you guys have ever heard
and then immediately on. His back.
(01:59:32):
And then immediately puts his hands over his mouth to stifle
it. That's.
Horrible. You're free to laugh here.
No judgement from us. All right.
All right. Last one.
Last one. And anybody else want to share?
Feel free. Ready.
OK. What happened when the King sent
a fool to entertain the Queen? Nothing.
(01:59:56):
I Nick stops laughing and he says tell us, tell us, tell us.
Right. Well, she didn't enjoy it, but
it was a nice gesture. Put on.
Nyx is on his back again, laughing, kicking his feet.
Oh. Let's hear it.
(02:00:19):
Why? Why did the dwarf bring a ladder
to the bar? A ladder to the bar.
Because the drinks were on the House.
Oh. Nix is slapping his knee and he
just goes, OK, OK, I got one, I got one.
(02:00:40):
Why don't skeletons ever go to the temple?
They don't have the guts for it.Cleric humor this, this guy gets
it. This guy gets it.
And he like points at Dax. Yeah, totally, totally.
(02:01:06):
What? What?
What does like? OK, this is going to be my first
joke. What kind of jokes do sea
turtles tell? Stellarious ones.
Hold on, I don't get it. What?
(02:01:29):
I'm bad at this. I'm very bad at I'm sorry.
What was the no? Say it again.
What kind of jokes do sea turtles tell?
Hilarious ones. Nick's Nick's like lizard blinks
(02:01:50):
at you one eye and then the other he goes.
I still don't get it. Is this like a shalali joke?
Is it a? Is it like a magic spell joke?
Let let me try another one. What happens when you try to
cross breed a turtle and an ancient dragon?
Or what do you get a crushed turtle?
(02:02:15):
Nyx is snoring. He's falling asleep.
Your performance fail. Oh.
It's. It's not powerful.
(02:02:37):
It's next being very drunk and not focusing.
Yeah. Just for the shits of it, I'm
going to see what performance check I would have gotten for
that. I know that we're not rolling on
this is just but just for the shits.
Oh my God I got a Nat 20 on thatrandom like.
I'm going to see what. Happens, I got a Nat 20 on that
(02:02:59):
on a performance check just for the shits of it.
Nix didn't hear any of it, but he sits up suddenly laughing.
That's. Yeah, just hearing everybody.
Else laugh. He joins in on the laughing.
OK, well I think with that we will call Session 0 a close.
(02:03:29):
We will do our outros starting with mud.
Hey everybody, mud here. Hi, this was a great time.
Always a blast getting to be a player and fleshing out
characters and getting to know the other characters.
(02:03:51):
So I'm really excited about thisShards of the Fallen Flame
campaign. Hope you are too.
Be sure to come check out our website.
Come check out our telegram. If you're listening to this, we
have all kinds of DND 721 games and you can get in on the
action. So come join the telegram, raise
(02:04:11):
your hand and get in on a game. Do.
You have any plugs, any any books you're reading, movies
you're watching, shows you're watching?
For a plug, yeah, get ready for an album coming out soon.
It's called Side A, Side B, all DND, and it is A two-part album
full of DND songs for all the classes, so keep your ears
(02:04:35):
peeled for that coming soon. Nice.
Can't wait for it. And then I won't put Jay quite
on the spot yet and we will go to the Crypto Serapis.
Give us your outro, Sir. Yeah, it was fun.
Thanks again. To get a little start, kind of
(02:04:55):
get to know each other, different characters and
definitely looking forward to the coming arena battle and
other adventures, even though I'm not overly skilled in the
way of the sword. Should be interesting to see how
this unfolds. Yeah, thanks everybody again for
playing and and listening in as well.
Of course, as far as plugs go, you can check out what I'm doing
(02:05:19):
personally at desotomusic.com. And if you want to check the
Sheba Sequoia Forest page on Twitter, I'm also working with
the team over there. We just had Sheba Fest a couple
weeks ago. It was a ton of fun, really cool
and amazing experience. Got to check on my tree that I
(02:05:39):
planted 2 years ago and it's it's growing.
It's definitely close to a little, a little more than half
my height. So pretty cool to see that.
And, and yeah, we're going to doit again this coming year as
well. So in Michigan as well.
So anybody can wants to come andjoin that, feel free to put that
(02:06:00):
in the calendar and we're we're going to have a good time.
So thanks again everybody. Yeah, great having you, man.
Always, always a pleasure havingyou a part of the campaign.
So thanks for being here. And that will bring us to a
Waldo McCoy. Give us your outro, Sir.
(02:06:20):
Yeah, Welda McCoy here had a blast planned tonight and I'm
excited to continue this this exciting campaign with.
A. Fabulous new dungeon master we
got here with Barkoshi. So very excited about that and I
love. Tree, you guys have to be tired
of my voice. I'd much rather listen to your
(02:06:45):
voice than mine. See, I get to listen to
everybody's voice. I was just going to say.
Yeah, and and Jay, if you, you can go ahead of me if you're, if
you're comfortable or I or you can go last if you'd like.
Well, yeah, I mean, I don't really have too much to to blog
necessarily, but I had a great time harping with you guys
(02:07:06):
tonight. Can't wait to see where the rest
of this campaign goes and I guess I I could give like a
shout out to. Just started in person campaign
with a couple of friends doing cursive strad so looking forward
to doing doing that as well I suppose.
Fun. Yeah, awesome.
Yeah, that's awesome. Also looking forward to that
(02:07:29):
music side A&B, the thing you guys got coming out.
Yeah, I got to get to work on myhalf.
Well, yeah, thank you for joining us, Jay.
You know, I I love how you you bring your character alive with
your voice acting. I wish I was skilled enough to
(02:07:52):
do that as Adm. So it's it's really fantastic
and fun having you a part of thecampaign.
Yeah, thanks for joining us. And then that will and that will
bring us to Yamas. Hey, everybody.
Yeah, Barkoshi, fantastic job opening us up and looking
(02:08:13):
forward to see where this goes. And this is campaign #2 on our
on our podcast. So I'm going to have to go
through and completely rename all of the the RIP of Chaos
campaigns to make sure that eachcampaign has its name at with
it. So yeah, more work.
It's great to see. Yeah, no pressure.
It's great to see this thing growing again.
(02:08:34):
Jay, it's great to have you withus.
Waldo and crypto therapist. It's it's it's going to be I'm
really looking forward to playing with, you know, playing
a longer campaign with the with the the whole of the community
like this. It's going to be great.
Had a blast plug again, you know, look forward coming soon.
We've got the NF TS are are hardat work getting, you know,
(02:08:56):
they're like almost there. I know we've been saying it for
for months, but they're almost ready for release.
Hopefully by the time this episode comes out, hopefully
they'll be released by then, butI had no promises.
As As for for plugs, yeah, follow decent under score battle
at Twitter. That's the D&D 721's page and
(02:09:18):
mine my personal, which I don't really do much on Twitter.
I'm not a Twitter guy or an X guy.
So my, my personal is island or at island under score metal.
Yeah, look for the flaming metalskull hole.
Yeah. Big thank you to everybody who
participated. Big thank you to Barkoshi for
for setting this all up. It's very, very, very cool to
(02:09:41):
get started on another campaign.Yeah, thank you both the Amazon
Mudd for the whole DND 720, you know, idea, effort and work you
guys put in. It's a lot.
You guys do a lot behind the scenes, not only DM in and
editing, but you guys, you know, have grown a community where we
(02:10:06):
can do this. So it's greatly appreciated and
I'm just glad to be here and be a part of it.
And shout out to Waldo. You kind of got quiet there at
the end, but always appreciate you joining.
And it's always a blast hanging out with you and gaming, man.
Yeah, and everyone I am Barkoshi.
(02:10:26):
I'm just going to plug D&D 721 this week because, you know,
they are doing great things and keep continuing to build and
grow. I was your DM for Shards of the
Falling Flame and I hope you guys enjoyed the first session.
(02:10:48):
They're normally my worst 'causeI never really know how really
put them together, but once theyget going I get much better.
So if you enjoyed it this one, it will only get better, I
promise and thank you. Everyone for joining me, I do
have another plug. I was a bad host here.
(02:11:10):
Barkoshi, sorry to cut you off, but I have to let everyone know
Barkoshi has actually been hard at work on behalf of DND 7/21.
Not just as tonight's Dungeon master, but in some other ways.
Specifically regarding the character sheets and the tools
(02:11:33):
that we use. And I'm not going to get too
into the details because I I don't want to give it away until
it goes live and is ready. But Barkoshi has been building
us some really cool stuff here for DND 7/21 and I have to tease
it because I'm so excited for people to see more of it.
(02:11:54):
It's so cool. Yeah, I, I do think you guys
will enjoy it and I and I think it will help you guys on board
more people so they're not goingall all these different places.
So yeah, I'm, I'm excited as well.
So yeah, I couldn't let it go. I had to bring it up.
Yeah, no problem. No problem.
(02:12:14):
It is exciting news and yeah, itit's getting very close.
I thought it would be done this week, but my schedule got a
little more tighter, but so we can't give a good time frame.
But it is so close guys, we're almost there.
Yeah, once. Watch.
(02:12:35):
Watch those Twitter handles for updates on that.
Yes. Yeah, and with that, welcome to
Shards of the Fallen Flame, everyone, and good night.
Woo Hoo. Good night.
Good night. I can't say praise bark.
Bark doesn't exist here. I almost did a shout out to
(02:12:58):
Nicroven. Good.
Night, everybody. Shattered sky, the world reborn,
Fire and storm, The Earth's refrain.
Welcome to the Fallen Flame. Who spoke through as shallow
(02:14:03):
When your fate unfolds and powers arise with gods and
chains Your chosen belief for glory and rose where faith wants
(02:14:25):
to every crown I see I'll do from Lord the shadow hero trawl
to stay in the world or end it all Well welcome to the fighter.
(02:14:46):
Where gods and mortals most conspire, stealing sorrows and
fame, you play the the shards ofthe fallen flame fields like
(02:15:11):
silent Thrones are dust broken, banners broken.
Trust. Saints are sinners, kings.
Decay in itself has lost in its way dominant dreams and chains
(02:15:33):
of glass. Whispers of the past shall hear.
The blight still feeds the rivers.
Weep for always swan and coloured and key.
(02:16:14):
Who? Will stand when Dawn is gone.
Who will write the final song? Here's Fade, but tales remain
etched in short and blighted. Who gone to the fire?
(02:16:38):
We're God's and mortal still conspire as to rash and names to
name. We are the sharks of the full
lens. Live the World is brave.
(02:17:08):
But the story goes on.
