Our heroes, who are currently recovering from the incredible and well-written twist at the end of the last episode, must determine what to do next. The very fate of the town and their friendships depend on it! Will they be able to stop the oncoming threat, or will a clearly-not-made-up-on-the-spot-due-to-a-dice-roll monster be their doom?

Crank's library visits pay off. Pistachio learns they aren't actually a dodo. Kapi throws a pastry.

DodoBorne is a comedy storytelling actual play podcast where four friends dive into the world of Daggerheart, a brand-new tabletop roleplaying game by Darrington Press.

Isaac Allen Burns (00:31):
Hey, everybody. It's your GM, Isaac
Allen Burns, here on a not sogreat mic editing this podcast.
Just wanted to let y'all knowthat the DodoBorne crew is going
to Gen Con this year, 2025, endof July into August. We'll be
there. I'll be running a coupletables, and if you come to
those, you might be able to playwith either Joe, Rowan, or

(00:53):
Annie, and even myself.
So keep a lookout for that. Seeyou at GenCon. Okay. On with the
episode. Hey.
It's a podcast. Hey. Come on in,everybody. It's me, your GM,
your host, your MC, your, favorite artist.

Joe Diametti (01:10):
Your birthday boy.

Isaac Allen Burns (01:11):
Your birthday boy. That's right, everybody.
It's my birthday. I'm officially25. Hey, yo.
Isn't that exciting?

Rowan Collins (01:16):
I believe we. Actually, I believe we
established the first episodethat we're all in our thirties.

Isaac Allen Burns (01:22):
No. No. No. You can't use them actually.
That's, oh, that's right.
We did say that, didn't we?Yeah. So I'm I'm, yeah, I'm 35
now, everybody. Anyways, enoughabout that. Chell, I'm looking
on the agenda for our meetingtoday, and I think that we first
need to start with anintroduction of the person
sitting to my right, RowanCollins, playing Pistachio.

Rowan Collins (01:43):
Squawk

Isaac Allen Burns (01:44):
A and then, across the table from Rowan, we
have Joe Diametti playing Kapi.

Joe Diametti (01:51):
Squawk. No. You know what? Hello. Just hello.

Isaac Allen Burns (01:54):
And an aged fine wine across the table from
Joe, we've got Annie Hawthorneplaying crank the clank.

Annie Hawthorne (02:01):
Tweet tweet.

Rowan Collins (02:03):
Yeah. It's gotta do it.

Isaac Allen Burns (02:05):
If you've just started in this episode,
hey, that's really crazy becausethis is a later episode. You
should go back to our lastepisode to get that joke. That
was kind of an inside joke forthose who have listened to the
last episode. Anyways, welcomein everybody. I think let's
start our session by talkingabout where we've been and where
we came from.

(03:30):
Last time on Dodo Born, ourheroes and our dodos.

Rowan Collins (03:36):
Literally dodos.

Isaac Allen Burns (03:37):
They traveled around the city doing a little
bit of investigation based onthe events of the night prior.
Kapi had a heart to heart withCyrus. Scarlet broke down in
front of Crank and Pistachio, and the party found out that
Ash, the blue inferni wasactually the one who broke to
Nathaniel's leg much to hisdismay and his, denials.

(04:00):
Eventually making their way intothe forest, they were accosted
perhaps, or greeted by onepercival anachronisms, the
apparent caretaker of a dais inthe middle of the forest that
was apparently a sage's grove, aplace of power once tied to the

(04:21):
gods themselves. The partylearned the secrets of the dodo
born individuals that fate hasbrought together in moments of
crisis and in moments of peril.
And as we recall, this awesomebombshell that was dropped on
our party that had justincredible implications.

(04:44):
Percival's voice travels up intothe air and echoes. And I wanna
follow that voice for a secondbecause instead of starting with
our party, I wanna startsomewhere else for a second. Oh,
what? We go back a ways thenight before.
We see a man standing at theedge of an encampment. It is
nighttime. Currently, ourprotagonists are having very

(05:06):
chill, relaxing, lucid dreams, all very snuggled away in
Pistachio Droop's home. Thisman, however, stands underneath
the stars that twinkle throughthe canopy of the trees above
him. This man is known ascommander Glenn.
He is a lithe build Simia whowalks around with two swords

(05:31):
strapped to his back, some dirtyred fur, peeking out through
some of his armor. Hisbattalion, his squad, his
soldiers are here encamped, andhe can tell always how his
people feel about a missionbased on how they act the day
before. If they're dangerous orperhaps people are unsure of how

(05:55):
it's gonna go, you can feel thetension in the air. People laugh
a little too loud. They snap alittle too quick.
They eat a little too little. However, the opposite feeling is
in the camp tonight.Conversation flows as smoothly
as the ale at the corner oftheir lips. Mirth can be heard

(06:17):
inside and outside of the tents. He is not one for mirth tonight,
though, for he has the hardestjob.
Him and his squad of three newrecruits. He strides over to the
other edge of camp and plopsdown at a campfire where three
of his more recent soldiers aresitting, sharpening their brand

(06:38):
new weapons. As a note, as aneditor's note here, what I think
would be really fun is if welook to the person on our left
and introduce them each timewith a name. So you get to name
the person to your left.Commander Glenn, I have taken
the moment to name Rowan'scharacter, Buckeye.
So Buckeye, how do you like yournew tools? Rowan, can you

(07:01):
describe Buckeye for us? And theother thing I wanna know the two
things I really wanna know aboutthis character are, one, what is
their most defining feature? Andtwo, what kind of weapon do they
have? Tell us about Buckeye.

Rowan Collins (07:14):
Alright. So Buckeye is a fawn, with giant
deer like antlers coming upabove, like, his head, and one,
like,

Isaac Allen Burns (07:24):
very

Rowan Collins (07:25):
again, he's kind of got, like, brownish, like,
skin with, like, one white pieceright over his eye. So, like,
you know, it gives, like, acircle right around his eye. His
weapon is a, a slingshot.

Joe Diametti (07:44):
Nice.

Rowan Collins (07:45):
Yeah. He looks over back at the commander and
goes, yeah. I suppose this willwork.

Isaac Allen Burns (07:52):
You like the weight of it?

Rowan Collins (07:54):
It's pretty, it's pretty heavier than your, like,
typical, like, slingshots thatI'm used to, but it's alright.
I'll just two hand this one and,you know, rub some spit in it,
and it'll be fine.

Isaac Allen Burns (08:06):
This is somewhat brand new technology
from at the lab. So Right.Right. Good notes. Okay?

Rowan Collins (08:11):
Yeah. Is that what these, like, little blue
things are on it?

Isaac Allen Burns (08:15):
That's right. You look down at the slingshot,
and you do notice three of younotice. There are these small
blue indents in your weapons.See that commander Glenn says
they gave us some instructionson how to power them up as it
were, so we need to make sure wedo that beforehand. I'll let
y'all know tomorrow.

Rowan Collins (08:36):
Well, I'll take a couple of practice pitch shots
over here at Chomsky.

Joe Diametti (08:43):
Okay. I'm Chomsky. Okay. You can be a

Isaac Allen Burns (08:47):
little more confident.

Joe Diametti (08:48):
Yeah. No. I'm I'm, I'm Chomsky.

Annie Hawthorne (08:55):
Uh-huh. Tell me about Chomsky.

Joe Diametti (08:57):
Yeah. So the thing about Chomsky is he didn't wanna
join the stupid war in the firstplace, but now he's here. And he
has a boomerang.

Rowan Collins (09:12):
Oh, a boomerang.

Isaac Allen Burns (09:14):
What does Chomsky look like? What can you
tell me about Chomsky?

Joe Diametti (09:19):
Yeah. So Chomsky is a, also a, can he can he be a
blue Simia?

Isaac Allen Burns (09:27):
Absolutely. He can be any color you want
him.

Joe Diametti (09:28):
Alright. He's a blue Simia, but he's, like, not
very Donkey Kong. He's very,he's more ditty than he is
Donkey Kong.

Isaac Allen Burns (09:37):
Yes. Yes. Oh my god.

Joe Diametti (09:40):
And blue.

Isaac Allen Burns (09:42):
Nice. Yeah. Commander Glenn feels a certain
kinship with you. Same question,Chaunsky. That boomerang come
back to you okay?

Joe Diametti (09:51):
Yeah. I think so. You know, I I think it's gonna
depend

Isaac Allen Burns (09:54):
on the field, you know,

Joe Diametti (09:55):
things like weather and wind and
circumference, woods like that.

Rowan Collins (10:03):
Do you even know what circumference means?

Isaac Allen Burns (10:07):
Buckeye, what do you think circumference
means?

Joe Diametti (10:10):
Circumference means it comes back to you in a
circle, you ding dongs.

Isaac Allen Burns (10:15):
Oh, I see. I made sure the labs provided a
short range combat option oneach of these weapons. So just
make sure that you practiceswitching between the two of
them. You should have a goodclub in that slingshot, and I
believe that boomerang shouldhave a blade on it as well. So

Joe Diametti (10:30):
Yeah. The boomerang detaches into two. Oh,
that's sweet. Each of them, like, have the blade that, like,
sticks out.

Isaac Allen Burns (10:36):
Well done.

Annie Hawthorne (10:37):
That's super sweet.

Joe Diametti (10:38):
Yeah. I'm a big fan.

Rowan Collins (10:40):
Yeah. It, it suits you.

Joe Diametti (10:42):
Thanks, Buckeye.

Rowan Collins (10:44):
You're welcome, Chomsky.

Joe Diametti (10:47):
But I'm more interested in how sunset feels.

Isaac Allen Burns (10:51):
Andy, tell us about sunset.

Annie Hawthorne (10:53):
Sunset is a ribbit and is bright orange

Joe Diametti (11:01):
Yes.

Annie Hawthorne (11:02):
And is tall and very lanky and is sitting kinda
high up on a tree branch, probably keeping watch right
now. She's very twitchy. Like, she hasn't slept in, like, two
weeks and has just been livingoff of caffeine and cigarettes.
And she's, like, sitting upthere, kinda perched on this

(11:25):
tree branch with her knees, like, way like, you know, like a
frog sits. Yeah.
And she's, like, licking hereyeballs like a gecko because
she's really twitchy. And, herweapon is a blow gun with poison
darts that she uses her own skinto poison.

Isaac Allen Burns (11:46):
Everyone picked a long way.

Joe Diametti (11:47):
I feel like none of us picked a weapon that Isaac
wanted us to pick.

Isaac Allen Burns (11:52):
It was really good, actually.

Rowan Collins (11:53):
Well, we're all long rangers because we're all
snipers.

Isaac Allen Burns (11:57):
That's right. That's why the three of you were
specifically chosen for thismission. You see that, Glenn
reaches into a pocket and pullsout a light, pulls out a
cigarette, and asks, Sunset, yougot a light? I got

Annie Hawthorne (12:10):
a light somewhere. Let me where was it?
I, like, pat down my entire, like, body thinking that maybe I
have pockets, but I don't knowif I have pockets. And I finally
find a lighter, and I just throwit at you.

Isaac Allen Burns (12:22):
Link catches it and, lights a cigarette.

Annie Hawthorne (12:25):
I'm gonna need that back, man. I'm gonna need
that back.

Isaac Allen Burns (12:27):
He he, he gets done. You see, he was about
to say something. I love

Joe Diametti (12:32):
this sunset. I know it's just, like, tweaking.

Rowan Collins (12:34):
It's just tweaking.

Joe Diametti (12:35):
Just a tweaking frog.

Isaac Allen Burns (12:36):
He, he laughs the lighter up to you

Annie Hawthorne (12:39):
I try to catch it.

Joe Diametti (12:40):
And just fumbles it. Like,

Isaac Allen Burns (12:43):
You see, Glenn, takes that big big puff
and then blows it out and looksat you sunset and says, these
things will kill you one day ifyou're not careful.

Annie Hawthorne (12:50):
Something's gotta kill me.

Isaac Allen Burns (12:52):
Well, hopefully, it won't be this
mission coming up in a few days.We got more intel from the
golden rat, more, info on theirdefenses. As it stands,
peacekeepers are a joke. Thevets are lazy, and the young
guns are careless. Apparently, the only doctor is a priest.

(13:15):
Shouldn't have any issues aslong as we can hold down the
guild. Now Scarlet Flash isgonna be there, but you just
leave him to me. You proveyourself in this, you'll be set
for your time in here. Do youunderstand?

Joe Diametti (13:31):
Are you telling me? What was that? Are you
trying to tell me that we getcushy office job perks?

Isaac Allen Burns (13:40):
I don't know about office jobs, but this job
pays real well. If we do well, well, you may not have to lift
your weapon again.

Annie Hawthorne (13:50):
Why is everyone talking so slow?

Isaac Allen Burns (13:52):
Commander Glenn turns around, and he takes
his step away. Another figurecomes into view. The three of
you see a man step out from theshadows. He's wearing a purple
vest. He's got blue skin andhorns.
Looks like a blue Inferni. Hesays, just so you three know I
wouldn't underestimate the otherguild members. Hi. We haven't

(14:14):
met yet. My name is Ash.
I'm tagging along on this littlemission of yours.

Annie Hawthorne (14:18):
Who the fuck are you? You got a cigarette?

Isaac Allen Burns (14:21):
Can't say I do. I quit the stuff a while
back.

Annie Hawthorne (14:23):
Nobody ever smokes anymore.

Joe Diametti (14:24):
I can

Isaac Allen Burns (14:25):
get you the good stuff, though.

Annie Hawthorne (14:26):
The good stuff? Yeah. Hand it over. Hand it
over.

Isaac Allen Burns (14:31):
Okay. But it's not for the faint of heart.

Annie Hawthorne (14:34):
That looks faint of heart to you.

Isaac Allen Burns (14:36):
Can't say you do, Orange. He, pulls out what
looks like a little vial andthrows it to you and says, one
drop of that stuff in your eye, you'll be seeing circles below,
friend.

Annie Hawthorne (14:48):
Alright. I'm gonna take it like a like,
Gollum. Like, it's the one ring. It's just gonna, like, run off
into the shadows.

Isaac Allen Burns (14:57):
Sunset sunset dashes off into the shadows,
and, you see Ash just kindachuckle and look at you two. And
I just wanna say I'm just tryingnot to get in your way too much
during this mission, but ourlittle ally shit might last a
little longer after this. Okay?So after that vignette, we cut
forward in time. The three ofyou, Kapi, Pistachio, and Crank

(15:21):
are standing on the dais.
Percival anachronisms has justtold you the secret of dodo
barns, and he looks and says, that's right. We call him dodo
born after the brave dodos.

Rowan Collins (15:33):
Pistachio's hand shoots up.

Isaac Allen Burns (15:35):
Oh, you have a question. Yes. Sure. He spins
around, and suddenly he'swearing, like, a professor's
robe, and there's a a chalkboardbehind him.

Rowan Collins (15:43):
Okay. Alright. So, if I understand this
properly, you, you're sayingthat we're chosen ones because
the dodos were, like, spiritsand fairs of the gods. Does that
mean that we're gonna turn intoI mean, I already turned into a
dough. But are these two gonnaturn into dodos?

Annie Hawthorne (16:00):
Well, what would that be? Be magic?

Isaac Allen Burns (16:03):
That would be magic. That would be quite odd.

Annie Hawthorne (16:05):
I should turn into a dodo.

Joe Diametti (16:06):
Oh. I I need to I need to be very clear to both of
you. I do not want to turn intoa dodo. What is happening on
this No.

Isaac Allen Burns (16:16):
No. No.

Joe Diametti (16:17):
Little altar here?

Isaac Allen Burns (16:18):
I see. There's been a bit of a
misunderstanding. Let me let metry this again. So, you're not
really chosen ones as much asyou're more like weird freaks,
weird little mutants who goaround, you scare small
children, they run away fromyou. That's more what you are.
See? Because there are somepeople who are dodo born, and
they don't even know. Right? It's just the ephemeral
lingering of the ific energiesthat surround the world that

(16:43):
often gets more concentrated intimes of peril and great
upheaval is more really what I'msaying to you. Percival.
Yes. Of course. That's what

Joe Diametti (16:51):
I mean. I just I I I need you to level with me
here. Okay? Yeah. Are youtelling me that I'm bound by
eight to these two?

Rowan Collins (17:05):
Please say yes. Please say yes.

Annie Hawthorne (17:07):
Please say no.

Isaac Allen Burns (17:07):
Please say no. Please say no. Would it make
you feel better if I said yes,or would it make you feel better
if I said no? Yes. No.
Alright. Well, then, Craig, yougotta be the one to break the
tie on this one.

Annie Hawthorne (17:17):
I I think this means we're best friends
forever, guys. Yes.

Isaac Allen Burns (17:20):
Then, yes, you are bound together for life.
You're basically married. Yes.

Annie Hawthorne (17:24):
Married. You're the man.

Isaac Allen Burns (17:25):
You're basically now a, as it were.

Rowan Collins (17:29):
Oh oh, I really hope we don't have to populate
this marriage.

Annie Hawthorne (17:32):
Me too. I don't want that.

Joe Diametti (17:34):
This little freak is just messing with us. He
popped out of nowhere on atabernacle, and we're supposed
to believe that we are mysticaldodos. I just listen. Here's the
inner peace.

Isaac Allen Burns (17:43):
Okay. Not a dodo. Anyways, continue.

Rowan Collins (17:46):
Yeah. I'm a dodo.

Isaac Allen Burns (17:48):
Well, you're you're not a dodo. Alright. Just
to be clear, I feel like therewas a miscommunication here.
You're a dodo board. Alright?
You have the spirit of a dodo.If I said anything that made you
think that you would turn into adodo, you know, that's not me. I
need to work on, like, communication skills, I think,
which you're not gonna turn intoa dodo. The dodos are all gone
and dead and extinct. Alright?

Rowan Collins (18:08):
Pistachio blinks and turns into a dodo.

Annie Hawthorne (18:12):
Are you telling me that I have a spirit?

Isaac Allen Burns (18:16):
You mean, yeah.

Annie Hawthorne (18:17):
Where is it?

Isaac Allen Burns (18:19):
Well, you know, that's a good question.
You know, the science is stillout. If you ask the priests,
they'll tell you one thing, andthen if he asks, you know, the
the researchers, they'll tellyou another thing. But, you
know, again, you're you are adodo right now. However, I will
say you're more of a simile ofwhat you believe a dodo to be
rather than an actual dodo.
Like, if I cut you open, youwouldn't have a dodo inside you.

(18:41):
I

Joe Diametti (18:41):
don't know.

Rowan Collins (18:42):
I opened my hatch, and I looked

Annie Hawthorne (18:44):
inside it.

Isaac Allen Burns (18:45):
You look inside your hatch? What's inside
the hatch right now, Annie?

Annie Hawthorne (18:49):
A rotten turnip, an old book, a soft of
rope. Whatever coin that I haveleft after paying my adventuring
guild dues, not a lot.

Isaac Allen Burns (19:03):
Not anything up in that hat?

Annie Hawthorne (19:06):
I picked the hat up off of my head, and it's
it's the stuffed rabbit. It's onmy head underneath.

Joe Diametti (19:11):
Oh. Oh.

Isaac Allen Burns (19:12):
A rabbit on a hat. Never heard that one
before.

Rowan Collins (19:15):
Look. It's magic.

Isaac Allen Burns (19:16):
There's magic right there.

Annie Hawthorne (19:18):
Did I do magic? Yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns (19:20):
You know,

Rowan Collins (19:20):
I You pulled a rabbit out of a hat.

Annie Hawthorne (19:23):
Oh, I just put it there for safekeeping. How is
that magic?

Rowan Collins (19:27):
I don't know. That's just magic.

Annie Hawthorne (19:30):
Oh, I don't think I did magic. Oh, but No.
You didn't. Oh.

Isaac Allen Burns (19:34):
But that's okay. You're still very special.

Annie Hawthorne (19:36):
What?

Joe Diametti (19:37):
As fun as this little adventure's been It's
been fun. Yeah.

Isaac Allen Burns (19:39):
I've had a great time.

Joe Diametti (19:40):
It's been a long I just stick my hand out as if to,
like, like, kinda in Percival'sface. It's been a long day.
Alright? The town is still introuble.

Rowan Collins (19:51):
Uh-huh.

Joe Diametti (19:51):
We're still out looking for Ash. Alright. And
somehow, we are again beingdistracted by being here.

Rowan Collins (19:59):
Oh, I guess that's

Joe Diametti (20:01):
right. So little Percival guy

Isaac Allen Burns (20:03):
That's right. That's my name. How you doing?

Joe Diametti (20:06):
Can you help us save the town of Breckenridge?
There is a horrible, twistedconspiracy that we all believe
goes all the way to the top. Oh.And we need to get to the bottom
of it, and it starts with theblue guy with the horns. His

(20:27):
name is Ash.
Can you help us with your God oryour magic or your annoying
little tricks? Find Ash.

Isaac Allen Burns (20:36):
You see that he, kind of puts a puts a finger
on his chin and kinda strokeshis little beard, and he's
tapping his foot. Says, let melook through the Rolodex. And he
spins around, and he's nowbehind a desk, and there's a big
Rolodex. He's kinda thumbingthrough it. Well, you know, it
it seems like I don't know of anash.
I also don't know really whatthe top of what is, but I can

(20:58):
tell you this at least justbased on observation. You were
brought here probably for somereason. I you know? I can't make
comment on what the reason is,but I can tell you that perhaps
your next step should be to findthe relic that was lost from
this place many, many years ago.

Rowan Collins (21:17):
The what?

Joe Diametti (21:18):
Is that the missing thing from the altar?

Isaac Allen Burns (21:20):
Indeed it is, my good sir. You are quite the
investigative journalist, I seewith those eyes, none of them
get past you. He spins and nowhe's in like a big trench coat
with a big old magnifying glass. It says, if you look close at
this here, also you'll noticethere's a divot in it. You see,
this is probably something theydon't teach you in the history
books.
So keep this close to your chestkids. When the gods left, they

(21:43):
didn't leave fully. They leftbehind pieces of their power in
the form of relics. One suchrelic was held here, the sage's
relic. It was verdant staff iswhat it was called.
Beautiful jade encrusted quarterstaff of sorts. He would always
hold it up when speaking goodwisdom. Like, if the ball is too

(22:06):
big for your mouth, maybe it'snot yours. That was some good
wisdom, he would say.

Rowan Collins (22:12):
That's good wisdom.

Isaac Allen Burns (22:14):
Now Oh, boy. It's gone from here. However,
the fact that I'm still here, the fact this is still here, it
suggests that it's somewhatclose. So perhaps if you find
your relic, maybe you'll findsome answers.

Annie Hawthorne (22:30):
Can you define somewhat?

Isaac Allen Burns (22:33):
You know, far enough away that maybe a pigeon
could get there in a day or so.

Annie Hawthorne (22:40):
Do I know how far a pigeon can fly in a day?

Isaac Allen Burns (22:42):
Make a knowledge check for me.

Annie Hawthorne (22:49):
13 with fear.

Isaac Allen Burns (22:51):
13 with fear. I'm gonna use that fear right
now. And on a 13, you know, asthe pigeon flies quite a far
away, it's about twenty fourhours worth of a pigeon flying.
And as you think that toyourself, you see that, the man
in front of you, the littlegnome, turns into a pigeon and
flies in your face and, like, starts pecking your head and

(23:11):
says, think, metal man. Think.
How far can I fly? Ask yourselfthat. Is your precious
Breckenridge in this area?

Annie Hawthorne (23:19):
I grab it.

Isaac Allen Burns (23:20):
Oh, you got me.

Joe Diametti (23:23):
Throw it again.

Isaac Allen Burns (23:23):
What are you gonna do to me? You gonna throw
me?

Annie Hawthorne (23:25):
I'm gonna say, show me how far you can fly. I'm
gonna throw it towards the town.

Isaac Allen Burns (23:30):
You see the pigeon flies towards the town
and then plummets to the earthand lands with a thickening
crunch. You hear him say, oh, Ican't actually fly. Even though
I'm a pigeon, I'm still just agnome. Oh, I'm broken.

Rowan Collins (23:43):
I wonder.

Isaac Allen Burns (23:44):
If only someone could tend to my wounds.

Rowan Collins (23:47):
Not at this point, little pigeon may have

Isaac Allen Burns (23:49):
Only okay. Fine. He turns back into a gnome
and, comes back.

Joe Diametti (23:53):
Can I perceive here's what I want? I wanna try
to send some ill meaning. Illintent? Ill intent. I meaning.
Intention. Here's what I'mnervous about. I'm nervous about
as a player. Mhmm. I'm nervousabout going to find a weapon of
a god and bringing it back to aplace that it's not anymore and

(24:15):
bad things happening.
Mhmm. This is all starting tofeel very Indiana Jones in the
boulder.

Isaac Allen Burns (24:23):
Go ahead and make a we're gonna say an
instinct to roll for me.

Joe Diametti (24:26):
Alright. My instinct's plus zero.

Isaac Allen Burns (24:28):
There we go.

Joe Diametti (24:31):
That is a 15 with fear. 15 with fear. Do we ever
roll with hope in this case?

Isaac Allen Burns (24:36):
That's a great question, actually. You
know what? I'm gonna choose tobank that one. I wanna bank that
fear.

Joe Diametti (24:40):
Do I get a hope?

Isaac Allen Burns (24:41):
No. You don't. You don't get a hope. I
just get to keep that fear forlater. And for those keeping
watch at home, I haven't beengood about telling everyone how
much fear I have, but Icurrently now have six fear
banked up.
Uh-oh. Hi. It's me, your GM,Isaac Allen Burn. I haven't
stopped by in a while. Sorry.
Oh, I've been so busy. Am Iright? I'm just here to tell you
that just a reminder is that asa GM, whenever your players roll

(25:02):
with fear, it is encouraged foryou to take a GM move right then
and there to perhaps maybeinterrupt the flow of play for
some big story moment or to pushsomething in a different
direction. But sometimes if youdon't feel like there's a good
way to go about it or not a waythat would serve the story, you
can just bank those bad boys up.So keep that in mind, fellow

(25:23):
GMs.
Anyways, back to the story. SoKapi is looking at this little
gnome who's currently doingcartwheels, and Kapi reads the
very, I think, is something soclear to Kapi is that this guy
is not telling you everything. There's a lot this guy is not

(25:45):
saying, but what he says aboutthe relic could perhaps make
sense to Kapi. Maybe somethingwas brought here. Perhaps it was
the gods.
Perhaps it was something else, but it's definitely pointing
towards that relic. And that'swhat Kapi gains. But Kapi gets
the sense this guy is nottelling you everything.

(26:05):
Ruputtle?

Rowan Collins (26:06):
Yes.

Joe Diametti (26:07):
The three

Isaac Allen Burns (26:08):
of you huddle together, and you see that,
Percival comes in between yourlegs and says, what are we
talking about? Person I can helpwith? Yeah. Buzz off.

Joe Diametti (26:15):
There'll be a pigeon or something.

Isaac Allen Burns (26:16):
He turns into a bee and then buzzes away.

Joe Diametti (26:22):
So what are we thinking?

Annie Hawthorne (26:25):
Sounds like we need to go find this branch or
whatever it is.

Joe Diametti (26:29):
Yeah. But what happens when we find this
branch?

Annie Hawthorne (26:32):
I don't know. We bring it back here, and then
we get what we need.

Joe Diametti (26:34):
What what do we need?

Annie Hawthorne (26:35):
To find Ash.

Joe Diametti (26:37):
And bringing a relic to a temple is going to
help us find someone.

Annie Hawthorne (26:41):
This guy says.

Rowan Collins (26:42):
I think Kathy's right. I think this is a little
bit of a distraction, but Iwonder if there's this guy says
he doesn't know Ash, but itthere's been so many weird
things going on. I feel likethis could be a distraction for
us, or it could be more of theplot to get something to, like,

(27:05):
blow up the town or something.Like, what is this for?

Annie Hawthorne (27:11):
Well, maybe we find it and we use it against
whatever's threatening the town.

Joe Diametti (27:15):
As the leader of this little party

Rowan Collins (27:18):
Uh-huh.

Joe Diametti (27:18):
I vote we do find this relic.

Annie Hawthorne (27:22):
Okay. Seconded. Thirded.

Joe Diametti (27:25):
Perfect. Fourth. Ugh. Sorry.

Isaac Allen Burns (27:27):
I was listening. Yeah.

Annie Hawthorne (27:28):
I pick up the nom and I throw him again.

Isaac Allen Burns (27:31):
He flies off into the sky.

Rowan Collins (27:33):
Let's see. Most magic things have, like, a smell
to them, so let's see if I getany whiffs of anything from the
dice itself. I'm already in adonut form, so this shouldn't
take too long. And, Pistachiowill, like, waddle over to the
little, like, hole and
just, like, stick their beak into it.

Isaac Allen Burns (27:53):
That's how dare you? First question, what
the hell? Pistachio, you get awhiff. And, I mean, no role
necessary. That's a great idea.
Pistachio and, you know, as aGM, some you know, sometimes you
don't have to make your playersroll for things. Sometimes, it's
just goal work, and you knowit's gonna work. How could this

(28:15):
possibly fail? It definitelywon't. This is awesome.
Pistachio, I think for the nexttwenty four hours, any instinct
roll that you're gonna make totry and sniff this thing out
while in your little dodo sniffyform is gonna have advantage.
Pistachios, your head issniffing. It smells like lilacs.

(28:39):
It smells like an old book. Itsmells like trees.
Oh, and what else does it smelllike? Give me one more smell
that this thing smells like.

Rowan Collins (28:51):
It smells like little old ladies that you can
call mother.

Isaac Allen Burns (28:57):
That's so beautiful. As you take in these
smells, the gnome lands on thealtar having been thrown up in
the air, and he's in the LionelRichie pose. He says, so you got
a good idea of what you're gonnado to find it?

Rowan Collins (29:11):
We're going to the library. Oh.
And then almost an instinct, they're gonna just
start marching towards thedirection that they think the
library is.

Isaac Allen Burns (29:22):
Nice. That's awesome. You start walking away.
The three of you head off awayfrom the well, I don't know if
you do that. What do you two do?
Do you follow the dodo walkingin a direction away from the
dice, or is there anything elseyou wanna do?

Annie Hawthorne (29:34):
Follow the dodo, but as I go, I have 14
scans of every book about magicin that library in my brain.
Yeah. So I'm like, oh, you know, when they go to the library and
they're looking through, like, really old new stuff, it's just
like flip flip flip flip flipflip on the, like, the screen?
Yeah. It's that.
Like and I'm looking for anymention of a staffer, like, a

(29:56):
magic, like

Joe Diametti (29:58):
Cool.

Isaac Allen Burns (29:59):
Yeah. Crank has been reading these books.
And as we established, a lot ofthese are, like, children's book
about magic. However, one of thebooks was a history of the town
because a lot of myths obviouslyhave historical backing to them.
And I think that's somethingthat catches your eye is that

(30:23):
there is an old picture, maybe acouple hundred years ago, of a
fawn man standing in front ofwhat looks like an apple tree.
He's got a walking stick, butthat walking stick is very big,
and the old picture makes itlook really knotted, like it's
got a bunch of knots all overit. But, Crank, your eyes stop

(30:43):
on it again, and you kinda zoomin. And you see this kindly old
looking fawn man holding thisstaff. And on closer inspection
with what you heard Percivalsay, maybe those knots are
actually some kind of gemencrusted staff.

Annie Hawthorne (31:00):
Does this fawn look familiar to me at all?
Like, do they have anyresemblance to, say, Scarlett or
to, say, the the patriarch ofthe droop family?

Isaac Allen Burns (31:09):
So you actually do know who this fawn
is. His name is written in thebook. This is the equivalent of
Scarlett's great grandfather. What? His name is Augustus Apple
People.
Y'all established in, like, episode one that it's the Apple

(31:31):
people. Scarlet Apple people isfor

Joe Diametti (31:33):
fun. Alright.

Annie Hawthorne (31:34):
I'll I'll, like, reach out, and I'll try to
put a hand on on the dodosomehow and just get their
attention. And I'll be like, Ifound something. And I'm gonna
find somewhere. I'm gonna find, like, a big tree or, like,
something that I can, like, project this image onto.

Joe Diametti (31:53):
Woah. Woah.

Annie Hawthorne (31:54):
That's, like, through my eyes.

Rowan Collins (31:56):
That's cool. Is that magic?

Annie Hawthorne (31:58):
No. It's just a projector.
Oh.
But look. That that's Scarlett's great
grandfather. And that is hisstaff. Yeah. Augustus apple
people.
Yeah. I yeah. So you're standingin front of an apple tree,
Kathy.

Joe Diametti (32:11):
You think that's the staff we're after?

Annie Hawthorne (32:13):
That is the staff we're after. Look at it.
Those knots that's jade. Yeah. Iwill,

Joe Diametti (32:18):
like, try

Annie Hawthorne (32:18):
to magnify the image.

Isaac Allen Burns (32:20):
It enhances. You zoom in a little bit, and it
the resolution increasessomehow. It gets even more
resolution.

Rowan Collins (32:27):
Oh, gosh.

Joe Diametti (32:28):
You know what, guys? Actually, I I don't like
this anymore.

Rowan Collins (32:32):
Why? Because I

Joe Diametti (32:33):
think maybe time out. Right? Time out. Kapi's
don't like the time out with hishands. Alright.
I don't I don't know where thisis going anymore. It's kinda
right? Right?

Annie Hawthorne (32:43):
Well, well If

Joe Diametti (32:45):
I just wanna make sure that we do not put Scarlet
in danger. Okay?

Isaac Allen Burns (32:50):
As you say that, I would like one person
here to make an instinct role.

Rowan Collins (32:55):
Mine's alright. You said with advantage. Right?

Isaac Allen Burns (32:58):
This will not be with advantage. This is
something different.

Rowan Collins (33:05):
Eight with fear. Or, sorry, 12 with fear.

Isaac Allen Burns (33:08):
Oh, this is perfect. This is amazing. I'm so
happy you're old with fear.Gosh. So as can't be you say the
word danger and in an ironictwist of fate, you, Pistachio,
you're wrestling.
And at this point, Pistachio, you sort of realize something.
Since the moment you all leftthe dais and stopped talking to

(33:31):
Percival and were kinda talkingamongst yourselves, You have not
heard sounds from the forest.Birds have not been chirping.
The underbrush has not beenwrestling. The wind doesn't even
seem to be blowing, and itcertainly catches your attention
when suddenly there's a snappingof a twig nearby.

Annie Hawthorne (33:55):
Guys, we're in danger. There's a there's no
bird sounds. There's no nothing.There was a snap of a twig. K.

Isaac Allen Burns (34:05):
What do you wanna do?

Annie Hawthorne (34:06):
Can I do I hear, like, what how big?

Isaac Allen Burns (34:10):
On a 12, certainly wasn't small.
Certainly wasn't huge, but itwasn't small.

Rowan Collins (34:17):
It wasn't a tiny thing either.

Annie Hawthorne (34:20):
Do we know what direction I came from?

Rowan Collins (34:22):
I point like a pointer dog using my giant dodo
snout.

Joe Diametti (34:28):
How does hide work?

Isaac Allen Burns (34:29):
Oh, I'm so glad you asked. So, Joe, Rogue
has a class feature, calledhide, which is when you move
into a location where no enemiescan see you, you can use an
action to become hidden, where, basically, any roles against you
are gonna have disadvantage.Targets can't see you, and if

(34:52):
you move into line of sight, though, they will be able to see
you. But if you try and gethidden when no one's looking at
you, you're hiding, essentially, which as it stands right now,
you don't see anything. So ifKapi wants to attempt to hide,
he certainly can.
Not to give the game away, buteveryone can do one thing before
something happens.

Joe Diametti (35:11):
Yeah. I wanna hide behind a tree.

Isaac Allen Burns (35:15):
Very good. Make a well, it just says when
you move into a location. SoKapi's gonna move behind there.
And as long as the thing can'tsee you, I'm gonna say you're
hidden.

Annie Hawthorne (35:27):
I'm just gonna step in front of the dodo and
assume, like, a defensiveposture in the direction where
the sound came from.

Isaac Allen Burns (35:35):
Okay.

Rowan Collins (35:36):
I believe, Pistachio is going to they do a
thing, like, in their fawn or,like, fawns have a thing called,
like, leap. So they'll just, like, leap up onto Frank and
just, like, sit, perch onFrank's shoulder, and, like,
nestle a little bit into thelittle cape so that they can

(35:59):
peek out.

Isaac Allen Burns (36:00):
You do so. Now Kathy's feeling real lame
right now. Kathy, you're hidingbehind a tree. The other two are
just kind of standing at theready. You see a bush get pushed
out of the way and then anotheras leaping, the underbrush is a
large creature.
Smaller than that acid burrower,of course, but this thing looks

(36:25):
like a bear. However, it has thetusks of a boar. That's right.
This is a boar.

Rowan Collins (36:33):
Boar.

Isaac Allen Burns (36:34):
It's attacking y'all. It leaps out.
And because we rolled fearearlier, the move that I am
choosing to do is that thisthing is going to attack the
first thing that it sees tostart this off. I'm gonna roll a
dice to see if this Boire canget you with these massive jaws.
It tries to clamp down on you.
It rolled a 14 to hit you.

Annie Hawthorne (36:55):
Mhmm. Nice.

Isaac Allen Burns (36:58):
Oh, don't you hate that? Oh my gosh.

Annie Hawthorne (36:59):
My evasion is really low. I'm outside of a
barn over here.

Isaac Allen Burns (37:03):
So this thing bites into you. It has some
powerful jaws that grabs ontoyour arm. There's a total of 16
damage, and you are restrainedto you. You can attempt a
strength roll to escape. Rightnow, it's it's, teeth just
crunch onto the metal of yourarm, and you see one of its paws

(37:25):
coming up.
It's definitely gonna swipe atyou in just a moment. Pistachio,
you've been holding on for dearlife on Crank shoulders as this
thing is just thrashing intopoor Crank. Is there anything
you would like to do?

Rowan Collins (37:38):
So Pistachio being in a beast form is going
to use something that is as anorder born trait, which is
called order born dedications. So one of the things that you
can do is you can before thegame started, I had to write
down three values that myupbringing instilled in me.

(38:00):
One's for short rest. When Idescribe how I'm about to embody
one of those principles throughmy current action, I can roll a
d 20 as a hope dice instead of ad 12. So the three order form
dedications I put down is to dogood is to be good, everybody
does their share, and a singlesoft save many.
In this case, I'm going to useeverybody does their share, and

(38:22):
they're going to jump off andtry and poke this thing in the
eyes and just, like, try and getit off of Greg.

Isaac Allen Burns (38:29):
Uh-oh. Do it up. So

Rowan Collins (38:35):
yeah. Uh-oh. How does that

Isaac Allen Burns (38:38):
My forb where? No. It. Don't kill it so
quickly.

Rowan Collins (38:42):
How does a 29 with hope sound? Another hard
one.

Isaac Allen Burns (38:46):
It doesn't sound good to my forb where. Oh
my goodness. Gracious sakes.

Rowan Collins (38:52):
Yeah. And it's just like I'm going straight for
the eyes.

Isaac Allen Burns (38:55):
Wow. So

Rowan Collins (38:58):
it just says, like, a d four and then plus
that. So is it's five damage, but I'm just trying to poke it
in the eye, like, straight inthe eye with my, like, thing to
get it off of crank.

Isaac Allen Burns (39:09):
That was with Hope. Right?

Rowan Collins (39:11):
Yes.

Isaac Allen Burns (39:11):
Cool. So it screams in pain. It does a big
guttural growl of pain. Thisthing is hurt. This thing is not
happy.
Kathy you're behind a tree. Ireally, yeah. Kathy, Kathy, what
do you do? You're behind a treeand currently your two friends
who you're now, entwined destinywith. What do you do?

Joe Diametti (39:32):
Yeah. So Kathy's has his back up against the
tree, and he's like, we have toomuch going on. And now he's
upset that, he wasn't there forthem because that would upset
him. So he goes like, and he,like, quickly looks left behind
the tree, looks right behind thetree. Crank, you still got any

(39:52):
fritters left?

Annie Hawthorne (39:55):
Yeah. I have fritters left.

Joe Diametti (39:57):
Alright. When I say three, throw the fritters.
Okay?

Annie Hawthorne (40:01):
Am I still, like, clamped when those things
draw?

Isaac Allen Burns (40:03):
Or Yes.

Joe Diametti (40:04):
You are. You're still restrained. Okay. Can't
but can Crank can't open thechest at least?

Isaac Allen Burns (40:09):
Yeah. You still can.

Joe Diametti (40:10):
That's all. I just gotta get the

Annie Hawthorne (40:12):
I still get all of them.

Joe Diametti (40:14):
No. No.

Annie Hawthorne (40:14):
I do wanna make a strength roll, though.

Isaac Allen Burns (40:16):
Yeah. Try and break out your strength roll.

Annie Hawthorne (40:21):
13 with hope.

Isaac Allen Burns (40:23):
13 with hope. That just barely fails. I'm so
sorry. You try and pull off ofit, but it's still just too
strong. You're still stuckthere.

Annie Hawthorne (40:32):
I feel like it's it's biting onto my my
right hand. So with my lefthand, I'm gonna try to, like,
hold it over here and, like, open my my thing and try to get
a fritter up. It's it's not mydominant hand. So Yeah.

Joe Diametti (40:43):
Alright. And what I wanna do is, so, you know,
don't forget, Kapi has that ringthat does some slight magic,
with rain of blades. So I canspend a hope to conjure throwing
blades. But I also wanna use myexperience, which is how do you
like dumb apples.

Isaac Allen Burns (41:04):
Okay.

Joe Diametti (41:05):
And I essentially want to treat the fritter as a
blade, but instead of throwingit at the, just throw it way out
into the distance so that thebluer is distracted and
hopefully goes after the food.

Annie Hawthorne (41:17):
Oh. Oh.

Isaac Allen Burns (41:19):
Okay. Okay. Yeah. We're gonna say in this
case, rather than an attackroll, I'll let you tell me what
kind of skill you would likethis to be.

Joe Diametti (41:29):
I think I don't know. I'm I'm open to without
telling you what my scores are,do we think this is more of a
strength or a finesse role?

Rowan Collins (41:40):
Throwing stars? Finesse.

Joe Diametti (41:41):
Okay. So my finesse is plus two. K. Yeah.
Two Which is the higher one.

Isaac Allen Burns (41:45):
That makes sense to me. I can I can see
either way, but I'll let you dofinesse? Yeah. Go for finesse.

Joe Diametti (41:51):
So that is an 18 with fear still. Oh, okay. And
wait. Sorry. Plus two for my howdo you like damn apples
experience, which is 20.

Isaac Allen Burns (41:59):
20 is really good. Okay. So, Kathy, you shoot
this out.

Joe Diametti (42:05):
So I wanna wait. I like, so, like, I go and I run
and I move. I step right infront of pistachios, the dodo.
Yeah. And I, like, use my ringand I hold it out, and it starts
glowing red, more specificallyscarlet.
And Oh, beautiful. I go, cranknow, and Crank throws it.

Annie Hawthorne (42:23):
Yeah. I'll throw it.

Joe Diametti (42:24):
And I use the ring to, like, almost grab it in,
like, a force field, hold it infront of the, and hopefully get
his distraction, and then usemy, you know, hand with the ring
clench to throw the magicforward so that the fritter
soars.

Rowan Collins (42:40):
Oh, I love that.

Isaac Allen Burns (42:41):
That was really good. The fritter you see
this thing's eyes were locked upas dashio, and then the
delicious smell of applefritters assaults its nostrils
and gets flung in the distance. You see that this thing looks
over at it. Because you're overfear, I'm gonna let it have a
chance to do something for us.

Joe Diametti (43:01):
That's fair.

Isaac Allen Burns (43:03):
So here's exactly what happens. This thing
watches it. You see it like itlike a like a dog that notices
something while it's likeplaying tug of war, and it just
kinda like lets the rope kindadangle in its mouth for a
second. You see it looks over atit and then looks back at you,
crank, and then spits out yourarm. It kinda, like, pushes you
a little bit with its paw andthen runs off after the
fritters.

Annie Hawthorne (43:25):
Good thinking, Kathy.

Rowan Collins (43:26):
Great thinking, boss. That was so great.

Joe Diametti (43:29):
Can't believe we wasted a fritter.

Rowan Collins (43:31):
Well, another reason to go see Scarlet, I
guess.

Joe Diametti (43:34):
Yeah.

Rowan Collins (43:35):
Unless we would've go talk to her father
without her.

Joe Diametti (43:38):
No. Let's see what she knows first.

Isaac Allen Burns (43:41):
A pistachio.

Rowan Collins (43:42):
Yep.

Isaac Allen Burns (43:43):
Can you make a knowledge roll for me?

Rowan Collins (43:48):
Yeah. That is an yeah. 20 with beer.
Uh-oh. Has

Joe Diametti (43:59):
There been a single hope roll?

Rowan Collins (44:00):
I rolled

Joe Diametti (44:01):
a game. I rolled a game. Okay. Oh, okay.

Isaac Allen Burns (44:03):
There's just a couple of hopes rolled around.

Joe Diametti (44:04):
Oh, okay.

Isaac Allen Burns (44:04):
Just a good day. It was a good day for me,
Jim. Yeah. Yeah. Just Joe'shaving

Joe Diametti (44:08):
a It is your birthday.

Isaac Allen Burns (44:09):
Birthday. It's my birthday.

Joe Diametti (44:09):
I'm glad you're I'm glad you're rolling.

Isaac Allen Burns (44:11):
A good time. My bear got absolutely
brutalized, but that's okay. Mybuer, pistachio. You've heard of
buers before. It's not unusualthat they would be out in the
middle of the woods.
You are pretty far in the woods. But that buer was really
aggressive, like, almost moreaggressive. Normally, it only
goes after small animals. Thefact it was attacking all of you

(44:35):
seemed less like it was goingfor food and more like it's just
incredibly aggressive.

Rowan Collins (44:41):
You know, thinking about it, players are
scared of wads of all, like, humanoid kind of people. The
that one was really, reallyaggressive. I don't like this.

Annie Hawthorne (44:59):
Do we think there are more?

Rowan Collins (45:02):
I think well, okay. So we had the acid
burrower near town, and then wehave this boar. I wonder if
they're running from something.

Annie Hawthorne (45:12):
What would they be running from?

Rowan Collins (45:14):
Whatever is, and, and pistachio will point up
gorge the direction that it camethat way.

Annie Hawthorne (45:21):
Is is, pistachio pointing towards the
mountains right now?

Isaac Allen Burns (45:25):
Yes. Pistachio is pointing deeper
towards the mountains.

Joe Diametti (45:28):
What if it's not what if they're not running away
from something, but they arebeing forced our way?

Rowan Collins (45:35):
Either way, there's something up there that
is not good. We could go get thestaff, or we could go check out
what that is.

Annie Hawthorne (45:45):
I mean, I've been in those mountains.

Joe Diametti (45:47):
What's in those mountains?

Annie Hawthorne (45:50):
Nothing. It's just, like, desolate land
between here and Justine. But ifsomething is coming that
direction, then it would lead meto believe that it's coming from
Justine.

Joe Diametti (46:05):
I vote. I don't know what I vote.

Annie Hawthorne (46:09):
Well, should we find the staff and then go back
towards the mountains?

Rowan Collins (46:13):
Or is the staff something to throw us off?

Joe Diametti (46:16):
Or are the mountains and these animals
something to throw us off?

Rowan Collins (46:19):
I don't think the animals have the capacity of

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
