I was taking some time to see mybrother and sister.
(01:03):
We met up in Vegas, kind of ourspot, middle of the country-ish.
Yeah, sort of.
Brother lives in California.
I live here in Colorado andsister's in northwestern
Wisconsin.
So yeah, that's what we hadgoing on.
So we're producing this one.
(01:23):
We have an oldie but a goodie.
I got to the pleasure of sittingdown with Angela Hello.
You'll hear her name.
It's much longer, but that'swhat she goes by now.
So I'll respect her wishes andput that in there for her.
She's moved into Colorado fromD.C., met through some mutual
(01:44):
acquaintances at Gross and BartBrewery, and we talked about her
love for dogs.
She used to be a singer oncruise ships.
How cool is that?
But then, you know, the big oldC, that's right, COVID hit, and
put that...
But a kibosh on that.
But she's still got greatspirits, wonderful energy, some
(02:05):
really neat stories about dogsand some breeding that went on
accidentally for her.
But make it a happy Wednesday, everybody.
Take her away, Angela.
So I do formal things rightaway, and then from there we
just ask questions andchit-chat.
That's amazing.
Beer helps and stuff like that.
We're here because we bring ourdogs places and things like
(02:28):
that.
Colorado's great for that.
So what's your name andoccupation?
My name.

SPEAKER_02 (02:37):
I moved to Colorado
with my mom.
My full name is Angela MarieCallow-Christensen hyphenated.
SPEAKER_00 (02:45):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (02:46):
But I usually just
go by Angela Callow-Christensen.
SPEAKER_00 (02:47):
My sister's name is
Angela.
SPEAKER_02 (02:49):
No way.
Yeah,
SPEAKER_00 (02:50):
she's older.
SPEAKER_02 (02:51):
Well, I'm older.
SPEAKER_00 (02:52):
What are you, 29,
30?
Oh,
SPEAKER_02 (02:55):
look at you, 43.
SPEAKER_00 (02:57):

SPEAKER_02 (02:58):

SPEAKER_00 (02:58):
She's 42.
SPEAKER_02 (03:00):
I think we'll be
friends.
SPEAKER_00 (03:02):
Yeah.
She comes out here often.
She's actually going to come outin a couple weeks.
She comes out whatever MemorialDay.
SPEAKER_02 (03:08):
She doesn't live
here?
SPEAKER_00 (03:09):
No, she lives in
Wisconsin.
SPEAKER_02 (03:11):
Wisconsin.
SPEAKER_00 (03:12):
Yeah, close to
Minnesota.
SPEAKER_02 (03:13):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (03:13):
Yeah.
We're Midwest people.
Where are you from?
SPEAKER_02 (03:16):
I am from D.C.
SPEAKER_00 (03:17):
D.C.?
Yeah.
And what do you do now?
What do you do for
SPEAKER_02 (03:20):
a living?
Oh, boy.
I'm a real estate photographerat the moment.
Oh.
But my previous life...
Yes.
So...
Come on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
(03:45):
In actual fact, the pandemickind of opens your eyes to
what's important.
SPEAKER_01 (03:49):
Right.
SPEAKER_02 (03:50):
So my brother lives
here in Longmont, Paul
Christensen, Jr., if he'slistening.
And he has an amazing dog.
But he's the one that had theblue heeler.
SPEAKER_01 (04:01):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (04:01):
And the blue heeler
passed away, and now he had a
rescue from the Humane Society.
But anyhow, so we were justthinking, our dad passed away
October 2020, and we were like, you know what, let's just pick
up and fresh start.
So fresh start.
So we're here in Longmont to benear my brother.
SPEAKER_01 (04:19):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (04:21):
Yeah.
So it's dogs and renovations andwe met Tyler and now Walter and
now you.
SPEAKER_00 (04:26):
Sure.
Yeah.
And yeah.
Well, okay.
So you're in Longmont.
Do you have a dog?
SPEAKER_02 (04:32):
We do.
SPEAKER_00 (04:33):
Okay.
What's your, what kind of dogand age, name, all that stuff?
SPEAKER_02 (04:35):
Okay.
Our dog's name is Ziva.
SPEAKER_00 (04:38):
Ziva.
SPEAKER_02 (04:39):
Yeah.
Her name was Twinkle, but she'sdefinitely not a Twinkle.
So you adopted?
Yes.
You adopted.
Okay.
We adopted a rescue.
She was Really, she's not thekind of dog that we would...
dream of having
SPEAKER_00 (04:51):
what kind of dog
SPEAKER_02 (04:52):
if we were if we
would dream of having a dog it
would be like a bernese or somelike purebred nice thing but we
walked into this humane societymy mother did actually and
SPEAKER_00 (05:02):
what's your mother's
name she's kind of sitting in
the background so she's juststaring at us but that's okay
it's okay there's not video yetbut we're just talking so what's
her name
SPEAKER_02 (05:09):
is nancy
SPEAKER_00 (05:10):
nancy nancy well
hello nancy and
SPEAKER_02 (05:13):
she uh i was working
on a cruise ship at the time
that she adopted ziva singing
SPEAKER_00 (05:18):
on a cruise ship
that's awesome
SPEAKER_02 (05:20):
Yeah, so I did
cruise ships for, well, and
tours and different things forlike 15 years.
And then prior to that, I wasout in L.A.
And anyway, we're not here
SPEAKER_00 (05:30):
to talk about that.
No, that's fine.
That's okay.
SPEAKER_02 (05:31):
But while I was on
board, we had three papillons.
Those little...
SPEAKER_00 (05:37):
I don't know what
they are.
You don't?
No, I'm trying to...
You know, I'm getting into theguru expert-ish.
I got to read books and stufflike that as part of the
podcast.
But explain.
SPEAKER_02 (05:46):
Okay, so we...
got two Papillons.
They are the small dogs withlike the butterfly hair ears.
They have pointy up ears withlike the hair coming down.
And we got a boy and a girl, which, hello, they had babies.
And we sold most of the babies.
And she would get pregnant againbefore we could get her spayed.
(06:08):
Okay.
We had, I think she had fourlitters.
The first litter was just onepuppy.
So that was adorable.
SPEAKER_00 (06:14):
Is that a litter
then?
I don't know.
It sounds right.
It's just like she had a baby.
Okay.
She had a little one.
Yeah.
So
SPEAKER_02 (06:20):
we gave that one to
my brother's best friend.
SPEAKER_00 (06:23):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (06:24):
And then she had
three more litters of...
I think like eight and then 12and then a lot of puppies.
Yeah.
So, and then the last litter, there was one whose ears didn't
stand up.
So we were like, oh no, like therunt kind of melt your heart.
Yeah.
And we're like, I can't get ridof this guy.
He's so cute.
Cool.
So we kept him and named himbear and we had lady and champ.
(06:47):
So those were the two, the momand dad.
I know.
I know.
Lady and champ and then bear.
And then once we got the twoboys neutered, they would fight
to the death like immediately.
What?
So we got those two.
How big are they at this time?
They're tiny.
They don't grow very big.
I guess like 15
SPEAKER_00 (07:08):
pounds, 10 pounds.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
We're just trying to give somecontext because I haven't seen,
I don't know what this dog lookslike.
I know mine's 45 pounds andstuff.
And
SPEAKER_02 (07:19):
Champ was like a
purebred.
He could have been a show dog ifwe had actually trained him or
done anything like that.
Yeah.
But Lady was kind of a, she wasa papillon, but not really a
show type papillon.
SPEAKER_01 (07:31):
Uh-huh.
He was just cute
SPEAKER_02 (07:33):
and cuddly.
And Bear was the combination ofboth.
The floppy ears and, like, thenice silky hair.
Yeah.
You know.
SPEAKER_01 (07:40):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (07:41):
But, yeah, so Champ
and Bear would fight to the
death.
And we had to get those two endtable crate kind of things.
Yeah.
And so they kind of just knew,go in your house, go in your
house.
And whatever, if one was out,the other wasn't.
And we just had to do that forseven years or something.
Like, it was insane.
SPEAKER_00 (07:57):
Wow.
Seven
SPEAKER_02 (07:58):
years.
Yeah.
So we kind of had the whole...
Can't walk them together.
You know, it was tough.
But anyway, so all of those dogspassed away eventually.
And my mom walks into the HumaneSociety just to look.
SPEAKER_00 (08:13):
Yeah.
They always look.
I've taken my mom to the HumaneSociety.
Oh, it's so good.
SPEAKER_02 (08:18):
It's like I just
walk in,
SPEAKER_00 (08:19):
see what's going on.
SPEAKER_02 (08:20):
So, and there was
this little, she looks kind of
like a Manchester Terrier.
Okay.
Like a mini Doberman, but notreally Doberman.
It's like.
I don't know what she is.
She's a combination of a bunchof things.
But Manchester Terrier would belike the closest description.
And she was so teeny.
And her ears were huge on herlittle
SPEAKER_00 (08:44):
body.
I got to admit, there'ssomething cute about that.
SPEAKER_02 (08:46):
It's so cute.
SPEAKER_00 (08:47):
Right?
SPEAKER_02 (08:48):
And she was just
sitting there all by her little
self on this little bean bag.
SPEAKER_00 (08:51):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (08:52):
And her brother had
been with her, but somebody
adopted him.
So she was like left all alone.
And my mom was like, oh, you'remine.
SPEAKER_00 (08:59):
Melt your heart,
mom.
Like that's what you do.
SPEAKER_02 (09:01):
She sent me a
picture of this dog and I was
like, really?
This is the dog you picked?
I mean, the best girl.
She loves with all of her heart.
She is just so loyal and justwants to just do anything for
you.
And she monitors everything.
We're having renovations done.
(09:21):
She's exhausted at the end ofthe day because she has to make
sure everyone's in their place.
But before we moved to Longmont, she had never met other dogs.
She had never really met otherpeople.
If anyone came to the frontdoor, she would be a basket
game.
SPEAKER_00 (09:38):
does she bark
SPEAKER_02 (09:39):
oh my god bark bark
bark like crazy but now that
we're here and she's been aroundall these people and we go on
walks in the park and it's awhole new lifestyle like we
lived on four acres just us so
SPEAKER_00 (09:52):
that's awesome
SPEAKER_02 (09:53):
yeah I mean
SPEAKER_00 (09:54):
that's how I grew up
I grew up on like acreage
SPEAKER_02 (09:56):
yeah it's like
there's no you have to drive to
go trick or treating you don'thave a fence right no yeah like
there's she would just I meanyou'd have to drive around to
find her like if she got up soand I'd walk her around the
block, but I was the only one.
If we ever passed anybody, forget about it.
It just beats like crazy.
(10:17):
Got it.
We came here, and we had to giveher trazodone on the drive
across country and all thatstuff.
She'd never been in the car, youknow.
Yeah.
She was just a nervous wreck.
And my brother has this new dog,Eglantine.
SPEAKER_00 (10:32):
Come on.
SPEAKER_02 (10:32):
Oh, my
SPEAKER_00 (10:33):
God.
What kind of name is that?
And I'm not, hey, apologize tothe brother already.
I don't know him.
I hope I get to interview him atsome time.
I
SPEAKER_02 (10:39):
hope
SPEAKER_00 (10:39):
so, too.
What kind of name is that?
SPEAKER_02 (10:41):
Wait till you, I
don't know.
I don't know.
And they call her Egg, or Eggie.
SPEAKER_00 (10:47):
Okay, the nickname.
Nickname is cool.
Like I thought of naming a dogso I could give a good couple of
nicknames, but
SPEAKER_02 (10:54):
wow.
That's the first.
And this dog, I mean, our dog isamazing, of course.
But his dog, Egg, is the best.
Like, I hope you meet her.
Yeah, yeah.
Because she's the best, sweetest, greatest dog ever.
But we were concerned becauseZiva's never met any other dog.
Okay.
So my brother has a friend whoused to train dogs.
(11:16):
And so he was like, what we'lldo is, because Ziva knows him
and Ziva knows my brother.
SPEAKER_01 (11:21):
Yeah,
SPEAKER_02 (11:22):
yeah.
So they'll bring Egg on thefirst, like, we rolled up to
Longmont, like, first day.
First thing out of the car, andthere's Egg and John, his
friend, and my brother Paul, andtook Ziva, and they walked on
separate sides of the sidewalkand then came together because
she knew John.
So it was okay, kind of, and welet them kind of go in the
backyard and feel it out, andZiva was like, what is
(11:44):
happening?
Anyway.
Was
SPEAKER_00 (11:46):
that like butt
sniffs or
SPEAKER_02 (11:48):
what?
Oh, butt sniffs.
Like crazy.
Like crazy.
And a little bit of like thehair up on the back, you know,
like just
SPEAKER_00 (11:55):
not really sure.
That mohawk that we, I worryabout that.
And dogs are like, whoop, whoop, whoop.
That's radar, anti-radar, youknow.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (12:02):
And Egg loves to
play.
Okay.
And she's so docile and she'sgreat.
But Ziva is very protective andwants to make sure we're okay.
Yeah.
Who is this?
The monitoring one.
Yes.
You mentioned that.
Yes.
So long story short, Egg wasplaying with a ball in the
backyard.
Siva decided to charge her andattack her, and Egg bit the crap
(12:23):
out of her.
SPEAKER_00 (12:24):
Oh, my
SPEAKER_02 (12:24):
gosh.
So, had to take her to the vet.
So, that was our first bill herein Longmont, 500 bucks for a dog
bite.
Yeah.
She got shaved, the whole thing.
It was, like, abscessing.
It was horrible.
Yeah.
So, she was baptized by fire, definitely.
But since then, she's beenreally great.
She's, like, making so manystrides.
(12:45):
I wouldn't necessarily bring herin here with all these
SPEAKER_01 (12:47):
dogs.
Oh, you wouldn't?
Okay, okay.
I was kidding.
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (12:50):
But the fact that
Tyler and all the crew come in
every
SPEAKER_00 (12:54):
day and
SPEAKER_02 (12:55):
she's not...
barking and going
SPEAKER_00 (12:58):
for them.
So she's getting socialized.
Yes.
SPEAKER_02 (13:01):
And
SPEAKER_00 (13:01):
how old is she
SPEAKER_02 (13:01):
right now?
She's four and a half.
She's actually the same age
SPEAKER_00 (13:04):
as Walter.
Waltie.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So that's good though.
Like old dogs, new tricks kindof thing.
And
SPEAKER_02 (13:10):
any noise that
happened back in D.C., Maryland
area, she would bark her headoff.
But now she's like chill.
SPEAKER_00 (13:17):
What's the
environment?
Is it quieter here?
I mean, is there a substantialdifference that you noticed?
It's
SPEAKER_02 (13:22):
louder here.
Really?
Yeah.
No shit.
Because we didn't have, I mean,we live on four acres in the
middle of nowhere, really.
SPEAKER_00 (13:29):
Oh, that's right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so
SPEAKER_02 (13:31):
there wasn't
traffic.
I mean, if a car drove by, she'dbark.
SPEAKER_00 (13:33):
Okay.
SPEAKER_02 (13:34):
But now, cars drive
by all the time.
People are walking by.
We have a fence with neighborsand other dogs.
So she used to run and play withthe dogs next door, but then
their son came and brought theirdog, his dog, who's like a huge
German shepherd.
And so I think she got scared.
They made some growling noisesand she never went by the fence.
SPEAKER_00 (13:55):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (13:56):
Wow.
But she's She's learning.
That's
SPEAKER_00 (13:59):
cool.
SPEAKER_02 (13:59):
Yeah, she's getting
good.
And every time we go on walks inthe park, if we pass a cyclist
or anybody running or whatever,if she doesn't lunge or growl or
bark, then I'm like...
Mega praise.
Like, good girl.
Yeah.
Good girl.
Yeah.
So she's getting good.
SPEAKER_00 (14:14):
That's awesome.
Where's your favorite place totake her now?
SPEAKER_02 (14:17):
Well, we live near
Fox.
I don't even know ourneighborhood.
SPEAKER_00 (14:22):
That's okay.
How long have you been inLongmont now?
SPEAKER_02 (14:25):
Since September.
SPEAKER_00 (14:26):
Okay.
So not long.
So not very long.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you're learning the area.
But what's
SPEAKER_01 (14:29):
your place?
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (14:31):
I'm sure.
Whatever.
We live near a park.
People aren't going to reallyknow.
They're going to have to Googleit when they listen to the
podcast, which is fine.
Okay.
We'll Google it.
It's really pretty.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's great.
Longmont.
and
SPEAKER_02 (14:41):
like bike paths and
all kinds of things here that
we've never had.
Yeah.
And it's awesome.
So we're, you know, she walksalong and she's getting to be
acclimated to people and dogsand other things and, you know,
she's never seen anything likethis before.
So it's actually good.
Like you can, you know, acclimate your pup.
SPEAKER_00 (15:01):
That's cool.
And that brings me to a greatquestion to ask.
So versus D.C., like what's thedog friendliness atmosphere here
versus there
SPEAKER_02 (15:11):
you don't see
anybody's dog there really
people don't really have dogs indc and if they do they're um
they're leashed you don't reallypet them you don't like it's
it's not a very um You're morestandoffish of people's things
in general in D.C.
Okay.
Like, everyone kind of has theirown space.
(15:31):
Sure.
And you're just like, leave mealone and let me do my thing.
And it's all about, like, howyou look and what bag you're
carrying and if your dog matchesyour bag and,
SPEAKER_00 (15:40):
like, whatever.
Well, hey, I sell dog clothing.
Right.
So, I mean, that's part of it.
But mine's all handmade.
Oh, that's amazing.
But not to plug my own stuff.
Yeah, my mom makes it.
SPEAKER_02 (15:48):
But Ziva wears
clothes.
Okay.
And she gets mad compliments onher winter coat.
SPEAKER_00 (15:53):
Okay, yeah.
So, my stuff is generally...
Right now is geared towardswinter.
It's got, yeah, right there.
This is super cute.
So that's handmade.
So we're looking at a hat rightnow.
And then the scarf goes aroundthe dog.
SPEAKER_02 (16:04):
That is so
SPEAKER_00 (16:06):
cute.
So, yeah.
So they're handmade.
Oh, we're going to have
SPEAKER_02 (16:08):
to look at
SPEAKER_00 (16:09):
this.
Yeah, there's tons.
We have it online,alpinehowell.com.
What
SPEAKER_01 (16:12):
is it?
SPEAKER_00 (16:13):
Alpinehowell.com.
I'll give you stickers andeverything like that.
You can look at, you know, we'regoing to make sure you sign your
life away.
Yeah, take stickers.
Yeah, all that.
That's yours to keep.
SPEAKER_02 (16:21):
Alpinehowell.com.
SPEAKER_00 (16:21):
Yeah.
So it's from the, you know, themountains.
You know, we're high up.
you know alpines and um but wedo with everything with our dogs
so you're you're gettingintroduced to that so you're a
freshy you know um which isfantastic because you know i i
talk to my family in wisconsinand they're like no we leave the
(16:41):
dog outside at home outsidewhatever it's just there like
it's not like part of themthat's like dc it's family but
like I, my dogs are always inthe car and they're going with
me wherever I go.
SPEAKER_01 (16:53):
Right.
SPEAKER_00 (16:53):
You know, I'm not, I
don't leave them in there, you
know, you know, but you are, youare introduced now to Longmont,
Colorado in general.
I mean, there's more place inthe States and we're going to,
we're going to figure it outthrough this podcast, how it
grows, but
SPEAKER_02 (17:05):
yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (17:05):
Welcome.
SPEAKER_02 (17:06):
Thank you so much.
Yeah.
So great.
Like even coming to this bartonight, we were, you know, in
DC, you'd have to like dress upand like make, you know, get
your hair done going out to abar.
SPEAKER_01 (17:17):
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (17:17):
And we're like, Oh,
whatever.
Let's just roll over there.
and see what's going on yeah andthat's so great that's so it's
just like the weight is liftedon your shoulders
SPEAKER_00 (17:25):
that's good and we
plug the places and you know my
goal is and talking withdifferent breweries and
distilleries that allow dogs andus to come because we're leaving
them it's like you know we don'tneed a babysitter and if we have
kids or if we don't it's kind ofour kid you know so but that's
awesome my
SPEAKER_02 (17:45):
next thing is to try
and get her acclimated to a dog
park
SPEAKER_00 (17:49):
sure
SPEAKER_02 (17:49):
because Because
she's never, like, we took her
in there, just her.
There was the dog park that wasempty near us.
And we took her in, and I founda ball, and I threw it, and she
just stood
SPEAKER_00 (17:57):
there.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (17:59):
I don't know.
I've never done this before.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_00 (18:01):
What am I supposed
to do?
There's tons of them inLongmont.
Yeah.
And they're all around.
You know, there's places you caneven go.
There's an off-leash fantasticprogram in Boulder County where
you can get your dog qualifiedso you can just let them
off-leash in certain areas.
I mean, it's just centric.
Do
SPEAKER_02 (18:18):
they train?
train the dog or you just
SPEAKER_00 (18:21):
no you have to prove
that they're trained so it's
going to be a question that'sgoing to be
SPEAKER_02 (18:25):
rough
SPEAKER_00 (18:25):
yeah and and it's
more of you know and it's it's
not as stringent as you thinkit's does your dog listen when
you say come you know and thoseare the well you know maybe
you're screwed then you know butanyway there's tons of dog parts
oh yeah you can look it uponline you know we'll put a
we'll put a url on the podcastand talk about it but it's uh um
(18:46):
you know it's a very conducivearea you know I didn't ever
think that I would have thismuch love for a dog.
It sounds like you're in a placenow where it's just dog-centric.
SPEAKER_02 (18:58):
Which is great,
because I think I communicate
better with animals than people.
Okay,
SPEAKER_00 (19:03):
so that's a question
we have that we're figuring out.
What's the five phrases that youwish your dog could say?
SPEAKER_02 (19:12):
Well, she does say.
SPEAKER_00 (19:14):
Right, but if it
could speak to you.
Like, we're talking, like,English or a language that the
native ear.
SPEAKER_02 (19:21):
Because she does
talk to me.
My dog talks to me.
If I say things to her.
Yeah.
Sorry.
If I say things to her, like.
What do you want to go outside?
Or do you want a treat?
Or do you want to go to sleep?
She'll look at me until shehears the right one.
And then she'll flip and runover to the treat drawer or
(19:42):
whatever.
So she does talk to me.
So the five things I think shewould want to say.
SPEAKER_00 (19:48):
There we go.
SPEAKER_02 (19:49):
Yeah.
I love you so, so, so, so, so,so much.
Oh, that's great.
Because she just shows thatevery day.
And an alert.
Like something is going down.
Like I'm telling you.
There's somebody out there.
SPEAKER_00 (20:01):
Mom shit.
There's a burglar out there.
SPEAKER_02 (20:03):
Like, pick me up.
Let me look out the windowbecause something's happening.
Yeah, yeah.
She's very protective.
She would definitely want to askfor what kind of treat.
Yeah.
Because her tastes change fromday to day.
She also would...
I think I'd want her to be ableto tell me, like, does she like
the food that we're getting?
Okay.
Good.
That's a good one.
(20:24):
Like, sometimes she loves it.
Yeah.
And other times she's like, meh,not today.
Meh.
Not really.
And then...
I don't know.
I don't really know what thefifth one, maybe where to go on
our walk.
SPEAKER_00 (20:38):
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
SPEAKER_02 (20:40):
Like, I want to go
over here because this smells
really great.
SPEAKER_00 (20:43):
Yeah.
Well, going back, that's great.
No, and I'm getting interestedin the answers all the way, but
we do have, we're doing a plugin a very local, you can take
some treats if you want.
Bixby is a local grain-free dogfood treat company.
Oh, awesome.
They're right in the basket downthere, so take a handful of
(21:03):
them.
I got them brought from one ofgreat friends that works for
them.
That's amazing.
So, yeah, the treat thing, too, for, you know, command and that
kind of level, you know, give mea treat.
SPEAKER_02 (21:16):
Yeah, there's no
command involved.
It's just, like, give me a treatand that's it.
SPEAKER_00 (21:23):
Yeah, yeah.
Well, you know, this has beengreat.
Do you have any tricks that...
Your dog does?
SPEAKER_02 (21:31):
Well, actually,
Eddie, who's Tyler's dad, D-A-T
Construction.
SPEAKER_00 (21:36):
Oh, plug him in.
D-A-T.
SPEAKER_02 (21:38):
But they're doing
all this work on the house, and
Eddie has taught her to sit.
SPEAKER_00 (21:43):
Come on.
SPEAKER_02 (21:44):
In like a week.
Yeah.
So she can
SPEAKER_00 (21:46):
sit now.
Four-year-old.
SPEAKER_02 (21:48):
But she only does it
for Eddie.
SPEAKER_00 (21:50):
So not you.
Not me.
So a stranger, per se.
She
SPEAKER_02 (21:54):
knows I'll give her
a treat anyway.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just a pushover.
But yeah, he has her sitting.
He's like, I love
SPEAKER_00 (22:02):
it.
So nothing else, though?
I
SPEAKER_02 (22:05):
wouldn't say.
She loves belly rubs, and if Isay belly rubs, she'll roll
over.
Okay.
She knows stuff.
Yeah.
Like, if I say, do you want togo to Paul's house or do you
want to see Eggie?
Yeah.
She goes to the leash.
Yeah.
I mean, go for a walk,obviously.
Right.
You know, she knows.
Yeah.
But she's just, we haven'ttrained her.
(22:26):
Yeah.
Because we just never sawanybody or took her anywhere.
Yeah.
So it's, you know, it isteaching old dogs new tricks.
But she's learning.
She's actually acclimating.
And she doesn't bark as much.
I mean, it's amazing.
SPEAKER_00 (22:39):
That's so fantastic.
Yeah.
I mean, it's got to be, youknow...
you know dogs are unconditionallove so like a little bit of
like less stress of like dogsbarking that kind of thing like
that's really cool oh
SPEAKER_02 (22:51):
it's awesome she's
so great
SPEAKER_00 (22:53):
does she sleep in
bed with you where does she
sleep oh yeah so i know thatdogs sleep in bed i'm like
SPEAKER_02 (22:58):
big spoon you know
like she she's totally in bed
SPEAKER_00 (23:02):
yeah i i love that
what's uh you know there's a
element of just that piece wherethey're just looking at you and
like yep there's nothing meltyour heart
SPEAKER_01 (23:12):
yeah
SPEAKER_00 (23:13):
well thank you so

(23:35):
sitting down with you Pulledthat one from the archives.
I know it's been a minute sincewe recorded that, but we're
pulling OG interviews from Grossand Bart Brewery here in
Longmont, Colorado.
Got some more exciting stuff onthe horizon.
But this week we went in, we, Iguess it was we, me and the dogs
(23:58):
watched the movie Strays, a 2023American comedy series.
directed by Josh Greenbaum.
And it was interesting.
Rated R, so everybody knows ifyou're looking for a kid movie
that's gotten dogs, this one isnot it.
(24:20):
Because a lot of swearing, a lotof drugs, and just foul humor.
It was...
a unique experience, and I wentinto it not knowing anything
about it, nothing.
(24:42):
And so I was just kind of blownaway with how it went down.
But stars are Will Ferrell,Jamie Foxx, his love, Fisher.
Those are the voices for thedogs.
The premises, Will Ferrell'scharacter, character is that
(25:06):
Doug is the owner of ShireReggie and Reggie is just he's
in love with Doug and thinkshe's the best thing since sliced
bread and Doug breaks up withhis girlfriend eventually tries
to get rid of Reggie but Reggiejust keeps coming back.
(25:30):
This is a short little stint inthe beginning of the movie.
I won't ruin anything foreverybody.
But eventually, so Doug dropsReggie off far away from where
he lives and Reggie stumblesupon this group of stray dogs
and talks about Doug and they'relike, you nincompoop.
(25:53):
Doug does not like you.
So then it's become a missionthat they go and know showed
doug who's boss and whathappened and so he confides in
these dogs and it was such agood raunchy like brainless show
movie and i i truly enjoyed it ithink it was i i re-watched it
(26:18):
so that i would you know get theconcept i had just gotten back
from from vegas and And it wasjust a good sink into the couch
and watch some dogs just beraunchy and foul.
Good movie.
I won't give you the other partof it.
(26:38):
No, that's my dog, Roo.
He's ready for the walk.
So I'm going to get off thispodcast real quick.
You can hear him creeping awaywith his paws upstairs.
But yeah, probably...
Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 69,but I'm giving it more like a
three and three quarters.
(27:00):
I mean, the story's heartfelt.
Obviously, you're rooting fordogs, but it's just kind of
funny that they went on thislevel for it.
A lot of other stars and guestsin there, but give it a watch.
Again, no kids, but funny allaround.
