What does it look like to love someone who’s been forgotten by the world? In this raw and courageous episode, Steve sits down with Jeff Hahl, a man who stepped into the heart of a gang-affiliated community without a shared past, cultural connection, or strategic plan—only a fierce love and servant’s heart. With no gang history of his own, Jeff moved into a Northeast Denver neighborhood, built deep trust over a decade, and now invites former gang members to live in his home as family.

We meet Jeff not as a polished leader but as a relatable man shaped by Rwanda, street courts, and quiet dinners where kids hand over guns before picking up forks. His story unfolds through quiet courage, spiritual conviction, and a radical model of mentorship that shatters stereotypes. From walking past gang hubs daily, to dunking on the same boys who once feared him, Jeff offers us a deeper look at what it means to pursue love when fear, trauma, and culture divide.

This episode challenges business and faith leaders alike to stop waiting for perfect conditions. Jeff isn’t just creating safer streets. He’s helping young men become leaders, entrepreneurs, and sons—without asking for anything in return. You don’t need a nonprofit to love radically. You just need to show up.

P.S. If you’ve ever wondered what impact love can have on a life headed in the wrong direction, this story will move you to your core.

Guest Bio
Jeff Hahl is a husband, entrepreneur, and unexpected father figure to young men society gave up on. With no gang background of his own, Jeff moved into a neighborhood most people avoid and built bridges with former gang members—not from behind a desk, but across dinner tables, basketball courts, and bunk beds in his own home. A former sailing coach turned youth mentor, Jeff’s journey spans Rwanda, rec centers, and a relentless commitment to live out Jesus’ call to love the least. He and his wife now run an informal home ministry while integrating young men into internships at his businesses. Jeff is a living example that love, not labels, rebuilds lives.
