The Incredible Honor of Being a Child of God 1 John 3, 1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God, and that is what we are. Have you ever stopped to think about what it truly means to be called a child of God? This is not just a title. It is the highest honor, a privilege beyond measure, and a reality that changes everything about our lives. The Creator of the universe, the King of kings, the Almighty God has chosen you and me to be His children, not servants, not distant followers, but His sons and daughters. When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are adopted into God's family, given a new identity, and blessed with privileges that no earthly title could ever offer, the blessings and advantages of being a child of God. We have a personal relationship with God. As His children, we don't worship a distant, unreachable God. He is our Father, and we can approach Him any time. Romans 8.15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again. Rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, Abba, Father. Abba means Daddy. This is the closeness we have with him. We are unconditionally loved. The world's love is conditional, but God's love is unbreakable. No mistake, no sin, no failure can separate us from the love of our Father. Romans 8.38.39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, will be able to separate us from the love of God, that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Even when we fail, God's love never changes. We have direct access to God. As His children, we don't need a mediator. We can come boldly into God's presence. Hebrews 4.16 Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. We don't have to beg or be afraid. we have the right to talk to our Father any time. We are heirs to His promises. As children of God, we are heirs to all His promises, both on earth and in eternity. Romans Now if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ. This means every promise in his word belongs to us. Healing, provision, peace, and eternal life are all ours in Christ. We have the Holy Spirit living in us. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us, guiding, strengthening, and empowering us daily. Romans 8.11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. The Holy Spirit teaches us, convicts us, and reminds us we belong to God. We have a family of believers. We are never alone. As children of God, we are part of a global family of faith, the body of Christ. Ephesians Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household. We have brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world who encourage, pray for, and support one another. Seven, we are protected and provided for. A good father always protects and provides for his children, and God does the same for us. Psalm He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. Philippians 4.19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. When we trust in him, he takes care of every need, spiritual, emotional, and physical. We have a purpose and a calling. As children of God, our lives are not random. We were created for a purpose. Jeremiah For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a future and a hope. God has a specific calling for each of his children. Our lives have meaning, direction, and eternal significance. We have authority over the enemy.
