Aging is the progressive decline in physiological functions and adaptability over time, leading to increased vulnerability to disease and death. It involves complex biological processes at the molecular, cellular, and systemic levels, influenced by genetics, environment, and lifestyle. Key mechanisms include oxidative stress, DNA damage, telomere shortening, and cellular senescence.
Aging manifests as reduced organ function, slower metabolism, and visible signs like wrinkles or gray hair. While universal, its rate and impact vary across individuals.
There is gold to be found in old age
It is important to keep a positive, even humorous, perspective on aging, because God designed our bodies to age. It’s not the act of a vengeful God, but of a loving God.
lso with those years of experience comes a new level of learning—or at least it should! Another old adage says that wisdom comes with age; but sometimes age comes all by itself. But age does not necessarily eclipse our ability to continue learning!
