America! / God shed His grace on thee / And crown thy good with brotherhood / From sea to shining sea!” This week brings with it a double bill brought about by an immediate need to watch one of the selected films ahead of our visit to see ‘American Psycho: The Musical’ at the Opera House. ‘American Beauty’ (1999) has already been contextualised in Patrick’s filmic history on this podcast before, with Emma very excited to watch it for the first time, and we were both of us were thrilled for our first foray into the darkly comic ‘American Psycho’ (2000). This week, y’all, we get INTO it. The elephant in the room (rhymes with Devon Facey) is spoken about at length, and we dig a bit deeper with our analytical brains this week… we is smart. But for balance we also we talk about peeing on the floor. And peeing into ramen. Look, mates, it’s a journey, just go with it…
