Social media can be an important tool for increasing discoverability on Twitch, a live streaming platform for video games. Twitch streamers can use social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to promote their channels and interact with their audience. Social media can also be used to share highlights, schedule upcoming streams, and provide behind-the-scenes content, which can help attract new viewers to a streamer's channel. Additionally, being active on social media and engaging with other streamers and members of the gaming community can help build a streamer's personal brand and increase their visibility on Twitch.

Just because we need to use it does not mean we are not impacted by prolonged usage. The effects of social media on individuals can vary. Some studies have suggested that excessive use of social media can lead to negative effects such as increased feelings of loneliness, depression, and anxiety. However, other research has suggested that social media can have positive effects such as increased social connectedness and communication. It is important for individuals to use social media in moderation and to be aware of how it affects their mental and emotional well-being.

So while content creators need to use social media for discoverability and growth, we are still susceptible to the negative mental health impacts. But the problem we are going to address here is the business of social media, and it is probably worse than you think.
