Take a listen!T he danger of the twos Not
T-W-O-S but T-O-O-S.
(00:42):
The danger of the twos - beingto this or being to that can be
a very dangerous place to live.
Living in the toos Is aneighborhood of trash.
It is a neighborhood ofexcessive negativity.
(01:03):
It is a place where garbagebuilds up.
Our minds, bodies and soulsliterally become garbage dumps.
We, in essence, become thedumpsters of our own lives.
Filling ourselves with being tothis or to that is not a
healthy state of being.
(01:24):
These excessive emotions arelike parasites, and parasites,
we all know, create toxic wastein our bodies, leading to
illnesses, disease, starvationand ultimately, death.
Yes, death.
(01:45):
Now, why do I use such ametaphor?
Well, because negativity is notproductive at all.
I mean, answer the questionyourself.
What can negativity do for you?
Is it good for anything?
No, not really.
In my opinion, it's trash.
(02:06):
There are quite a few of thesetoos in existence, such as being
too angry, too lonely, too sad,too greedy, too ambitious, too
fearful, too shy, too aggressive.
Any of these can be poisonousto our overall well-being.
And, in considering ourwell-being, let's look at three
components (02:31):
our livelihood, our
peace and our prosperity.
As I proceed, I believe thateach of these toos should be
explored individually in futurepodcasts.
However, I'll briefly discusseach and how they impact us, and
(02:53):
later in the podcast I'll focuson being too angry.
Now, first, I'll define alivelihood.
The legal definition oflivelihood refers to the means
by which a person supports theirexistence.
In general, livelihood is themeans of making a living, the
(03:15):
means that allow human beings toconstruct a living and satisfy
their daily needs.
Livelihoods are one of the maincomponents to create resilience
within a household or acommunity.
Next, I'll define peace.
According to Merriam-Webster'sdefinition, peace at an
(03:39):
individual level is a state oftranquility or quiet, such as
freedom from disturbances.
It can mean freedom fromdisquieting or oppressive
thoughts or emotions, and alsorefer to harmony in one's
personal relationships.
(03:59):
Biblically speaking, peace isdefined as having inner calm and
strength.
According to Sharing Bread,Jesus' peace and tribulations,
(04:21):
with hope and with confidence, even when surrounded by turmoil.
Despite the circumstances onefaces, biblical peace is
considered to be the peacebeyond all understanding, the
peace that carries you throughthe turmoils and the trials of
(04:42):
life.
It's a peace that surpasses allunderstanding.
I reiterate.
In Philippians, chapter 4, itreads, "let your moderation be
known unto all men, for the Lordis at hand.
Be careful, be anxious fornothing, but in everything, by
(05:04):
prayer and supplication, withthanksgiving, let your requests
be made known unto God, and thepeace of God, which passes all
understanding, will keep yourhearts and minds, through Christ
Jesus.
Next I'll define prosperity.
(05:25):
In short, according toProsperity Institute's Legation
Index, in a prosperous society, everybody is able to build a
life free from poverty.
People take care of theirphysical and mental needs and
(05:50):
have access to effective healthcare.
Learning is valued and everyoneeveryone receives a high
(06:10):
quality education so they canreach their full potential.
So, when one is prospering, they have means and they have a
healthy mind to live a healthy, high quality life, filled with
accessible necessities andenjoyment.
And this is according toLegatum's Prosperity Index,
posted in 2023 by the ProsperityInstitute.
Now, my position rests on theargument that in today's world,
we find that people aren't beingable to fulfill those qualities
(06:35):
of life, and because of that, people become too angry, perhaps
too anxious, too lonely, toosad or greedy, and it disturbs
the essential equilibrium tolive in peace and prosperity and
maintain an undisturbedlivelihood.
(06:58):
Now, let me make this analogy.
In order for a business tocontinue being an ongoing
concern, it has to be able tooperate effectively at all
levels.
In business terms, a "goingconcern" refers to a company
(07:26):
that is financially stable andexpected to continue operating
for the foreseeable futurewithout the need for liquidation
or without the need ofsignificant restructuring.
This assumption is crucial foraccounting and financial
reporting, as it allowsbusinesses to value its assets
and liabilities based on theirongoing use rather than their
potential liquidation value.
(07:47):
I mentioned businesses becauseI think we need to consider
ourselves as a company.
We have different componentsand different facets, and we
need to be productive and weneed to prosper.
We need to be profitable.
Now, examples of businesses notconsidered to be ongoing
(08:11):
concerns are companies withsignificant operating losses and
mounting debt, companies thatare facing imminent bankruptcy
and liquidation, companies whoseproducts and services are no
longer in demand, and companiesthat have defaulted on its loans
.
The company has essentiallybecome totally dysfunctional,
(08:32):
either because it lost focus;remember that - lost focus, lost
direction, failed to makenecessary product or service
adjustments, lost touch with itstarget market, or failed to
reinvest itself or reinvest initself.
As a result, this companybecomes prey to bankruptcy or a
(08:56):
hostile takeover.
So let's think of our humanness, our living circumstances, our
lifestyles.
Where have we becomedysfunctional?
Where have we lost focus?
Where have we lost direction?
Where have we failed to makenecessary product or service
(09:19):
changes within our own lives?
Where have we lost touch withwhere we want to go and who
we're to be or want to be?
Are we in danger of a hostiletakeover?
Have we become bankrupt in ourown souls because of all the
failures or the traumas, or thetrials and tribulations that
(09:43):
have caused us to lose our wayand essentially become
imbalanced, losing equilibrium?
Something has jolted us, ourpeace is off, we're not
prospering, our livelihood hasbeen impacted negatively.
And hence, we become too angry, too anxious, t oo something.
(10:13):
One cannot afford to be tooanything.
Like a company that's out ofbalance, that has neglected its
assets, it can become the victimof a hostile takeover.
A larger, more efficientcompany comes along to gobble up
the endangered, the vulnerableone.
It sells off assets, it breaksthe company up, in many cases,
(10:49):
sells off the parts of thevulnerable, and the endangered
one ceases to exist.
Can we not compare ourselves tothe company that's in danger?
When we become too anything weare vulnerable to a hostile
takeover.
And who is the hostile takeover?
The Toos, being too angry, toonegative, too fearful, too
anything.
(11:10):
So let's consider ourselves asbusinesses.
Perhaps we need to adapt better.
Perhaps we need to doself-assessments on a regular
basis.
Perhaps we need to address ourfocus and our trajectory so that
we don't endanger our ownprosperity, our own livelihood,
(11:31):
and our own peace.
We have to be careful that wedon't become fragmented in our
own minds and emotions.
Like a business, we can'tafford to lose forward momentum.
We can't afford to have anegative cash flow.
We have to continue to grow.
The Toos are negative cashflows.
(11:52):
We have to grow beyond them.
We have to keep focused.
We cannot become neglectful.
We just can't afford to.
We need to restructure on aregular basis to be relevant and
to be prosperous and tomaintain a healthy lifestyle.
(12:15):
We cannot afford to becomedestructive.
The Toos endanger us.
They are hostile.
They are like parasites.
They are distractions that weallow ourselves and we cannot
let those Toos be incorporatedinto our DNA.
(12:35):
They cannot become part of ourpersonality or our mindset.
When one becomes too anything, too angry, too sad, too anxious,
too greedy, too ambitious, something else is being denied
or neglected.
The Toos become the focus.
The focus becomes the Toos.
(12:58):
The Toos become where ourenergy is spent.
It becomes where our power iswasted.
The Toos become our Achillesheel.
They can be the straw thatbreaks us or the nail in our
coffin.
The Toos deny the rest ofourself to prosper.
(13:21):
It's like that old game,Pac-man, that gobbles up the
soul, gnawing and gnawing like aparasite.
Now let me define what a humanparasite is.
It's an organism that lives onin its host.
It lives in it and it eats it.
It feeds at the host's body, atthe host's expense.
(13:46):
It serves itself by sucking thelife out of the organism it's
living in.
Think of the Toos like that.
Excessive anger, excessive fear, anxiety, sadness, grief,
loneliness, greed, ambition areall potential parasites and
destructors to our overallwell-being.
(14:09):
Now, this week I will focus onexcessive anger.
There's not enough time toreally attend to each of the
Toos today, but I will in futurebroadcasts or podcasts.
But, the remedies are verysimilar for each, nonetheless.
So, continue listening, becauseI'm going to address being too
(14:33):
angry.
Actually, I believe there's alittle of a lot of anger in many
of us.
If you just look at society andhow impatient we are and how
rude we can be with everyone, atany time.
These things do overlap.
So, take note, note thecautionary yellow light is
(14:55):
flashing.
This is the time to take heed.
Do a self-check right now andthink about how you respond in a
day, what emotions becomeexaggerated when you're dealing
with other people or situations,or even technology.
It's a caution Caution light.
(15:17):
It is better to take heed tothe caution than to wait.
So pause and .
reflect The the we Weexperience things and that That
causes we We need to be still,we need to pause, we need to
reflect.
There are times when injusticeshave slapped us in the face.
(15:42):
There are times when justicehas been denied inexplicably and
everything just becomesunbearably unfair.
Take a pause, pause whenwhatever we felt we deserved
deserve but were denied, deniedin any given circumstances, we
We must take a step back beforewe react.
(16:03):
Many times, times our emotionsget the best of us and we act so
fast we cause damage and thenthere's a trickle effect.
Bu t, But when we don't takeheed, you might not even notice
that anger is building up inside.
So before, not after, we needto take a pause.
(16:28):
Before we respond.
We need to pause.
Knee-jerk responses andout-of-control emotions can
cause us to break character.
We lose control and ultimately, the battles and the war.
We need to be able to say, 'Iknow this can make me do
something I don't want to do'.
'I know this can make me dosomething I don't need to do'.
(16:52):
Or you might say, 'Okay, thismess here is just too much for
me to deal with on my own and Ineed help'.
'This is just too much tohandle'.
'I wasn't expecting it and Idon't think I can deal with this
by myself'.
That's okay.
In doing that, you can preventyourself from becoming too angry
(17:13):
, too fearful, too something.
If it's colossal, it's colossal.
If it's too jacked up for yourown sanity, it's too jacked up.
Find help! If you know thatthings are building up and you
might snap, take a step back, get a grip, get some help, get
(17:36):
some assistance.
We need to be thoughtful.
We need to be mindful of thebigger picture all the time.
We need to be more methodicalin how we handle things and how
we navigate the maze of life.
Things happen and sometimes weare in a whirlwind.
Sometimes we are in thatperfect storm and we need backup
(17:59):
, we need to have a plan so thatwe don't become "To o
something.
It is so vitally important torecognize who we are at any
given time and what we'redealing with before we allow our
minds and emotions to carry usaway, to "never, never land, to
(18:20):
the point of no return.
In saying that, I think ofDorothy and Toto, and there are
many times I've been incircumstances and I've talked to
my imaginary Toto and said,"Toto, toto, where are we and
how do we get out of here?
Yeah, dorothy and Toto werealmost lost forever until she
(18:44):
realized the truth.
Her answer wasn't in the wizard, it wasn't in.
.
.
a ctually, it wasn't even inher ruby red magic shoes, but
figuratively it was.
Those shoes actually meantprotection from the wicked witch
.
Those shoes were the thingsthat would carry Dorothy and
(19:10):
Total back to safety.
Where Dorothy thought sheneeded shoes, like some of us
think we need to self-medicate,it was actually all in her mind.
Dorothy's strength was alreadywithin her, but it took her time
to mature and find her way out,to find her way back home, to
(19:35):
find her equilibrium.
It took a support systemthough, she had friends in the
land of Oz.
She had friends, she hadresources that helped guide her
back to her place.
And we need that too.
Dorothy's reality had becomedistorted by trauma and fear.
(19:58):
The storm that caught her upsent her to a place that she
didn't recognize, but those redshoes represented her path and
power to ultimate victory overeach storm or through every
storm.
The Wicked Witch failed.
(20:20):
Remember that! The Wicked Witchwill always fail when we come
back to self.
The Wicked Witch tried toimprison Dorothy.
The Wicked Witch tried to killDorothy.
The Wicked Witch tried todeceive Dorothy with everything
she could.
She tried to entangle Dorothyin fear and intimidation and
(20:45):
chaos.
But, she failed.
The Wicked Witch failed.
Dorothy found her way back.
So if we don't stay mindful, wecan find ourselves lost in Never
Neverland.
We can find ourselves beingattacked by the witches of our
mind, the fear in our mind, theintimidation, allowing things to
(21:10):
overcome us that have nothingto do with our life trajectory,
because the negatives don't help.
Our own never, nevers are neveruseful.
That Yellow Brick Road mightlead us to jail, to the
unemployment line, to beinghomeless, or to our own untimely
(21:31):
death if we follow it, lookingfor something beyond ourselves
when it's already within us.
So we need to tap into our trueself and not the alter ego that
says," I won't mind acting outin the most egregious way to
(21:55):
placate all the negativefeelings that I'm having.
Therefore, it is never a badtime to do a self audit of
ourselves, just like a businessshould do to maintain solvency
and grow.
We must also do the same.
When we are going throughtraumatic and trying,
nonsensical or outrageoussituations, we need to do a
(22:19):
self-check.
When we're facing seeminglyimpossible dire circumstances
with dire consequences, we needto do a self-check.
Triage is necessary.
We need to check ourselves in,perhaps to the mental emergency
room for help - ASAP.
(22:40):
Now I'm not saying to Baker Actourselves, no, but I'm saying
before we get to the point of noreturn, we should seek real
support from someone that weknow that we're close to, or a
professional who knows how tolead us, guide us, and provide
valid means of assistance.
(23:10):
Just like nurses and doctors inthe emergency room; they
evaluate every part of a personbefore determining exactly what
to do, what to fix first, andwhat to fix last and how.
There's a process.
They evaluate the body and thesystems.
They take blood pressure, theytest the blood, etc.
etc.
They check for injuries andthey determine what's essential,
what should go first, what's apriority to prevent the need for
(23:34):
more critical care.
So what should we do?
What should we do for ourselves?
Well, listen to the atmospherearound.
What's the atmosphere likearound you?
We must check our moods.
How are we impacting thosearound us?
How does our mood impact ourown selves?
(23:56):
Are we carrying our emotions onour sleeves for the world to
see?
Have we started to becomeoverly pessimistic about
everything, even though itdoesn't have anything to do with
what's really making us angryor making us so reactive or
hypersensitive?
Do we find ourselves feedingoff negative atmospheres, like
(24:17):
thirsty jungle wilderbeest atthe waterhole, sucking
everything up before the lioncomes?
Are we listening to what ourfriends and family are saying
about us?
Because they do give us hints?
Do we notice how we respond tothings on a daily basis?
Did we laugh that day?
(24:37):
Did we snap?
Did we growl too much?
Did we shout at someone?
Did we shout at our kids or ourspouses unnecessarily?
Did we spend too much timecomplaining or finding fault?
Where did our daydreams linger?
Were they on payback?
Were they on vengeance?
Were they on what we're goingto do when somebody does this?
(25:03):
Are we thinking about how we'regoing to snap at someone before
something has even happened?
Are we starting to believe thatthe world owes us?
Have we gotten to the pointwhere we want others to hurt
because we hurt?
These are just some of thethings that we need to monitor
(25:24):
about our behavior and ourthoughts for our own well-being.
The yellow caution light.
Think about where your life isgoing.
Am I at peace?
Am I prospering?
Take a self-check of yourlivelihood.
(25:45):
Is danger on the way?
Holding on to anger becomesunrighteous anger, sinful anger,
excessive anger.
It is an anger that issignificantly more intense, more
frequent and prolonged thanwhat is considered typical in
any given, I would say, appropriate situation.
(26:08):
We know that sometimes peopleoverreact.
I think we all have one personin our lives that overreacts,
but we need to make sure we'renot overreacting.
Is that TOO angry beast, theone that's rising up, eating up
(26:29):
our joy, our peace, ourproductivity?
Is it the beast that'sdestroying relationships?
It might be exhibited by rudebehavior, short temperedness,
temper tantrums, selfishness, being overly critical by chronic
complaining, acts of violence, abusive behavior and treatment
(26:50):
of others, or the development ofaddictions like gambling and
substance abuse.
We need to have our own red, ruby shoes.
We need to have them on at alltimes.
What are those red, ruby shoes?
They're found in the Word ofGod.
(27:12):
I'm going to read Psalm 23.
Because Psalm 23 is a psalm ofpeace.
It reminds us that God leads usand God protects us and God
provides for us along the roadof life.
It's very popular.
(27:34):
The Lord is my shepherd.
I shall not want, He causes meto lie down in green pastures
and He leads me besides thestill waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me down the path ofrighteousness for his namesake
and yea, though I walk to thevalley of the shadow of death, I
(27:57):
will fear no evil, for thou artwith me, thy rod and thy staff,
they comfort me.
Thou preparest the table beforeme in the presence of my
enemies and thou anoints my headwith oil and causes my cup to
overflow.
Surely, thy goodness and mercyshall follow me all the days of
(28:20):
my life and I will dwell in thehouse of the Lord forever.
Amen.
That psalm is saying you neverhave to walk alone.
It says you are essentiallynever alone.
It says you walk with theLord's help and with his
protection and though you maywalk through evil places, you
(28:43):
may experience evil time periods, dark time periods, keep
walking because He is walkingbefore you.
He is with you througheverything and in it we can hold
on to his peace and hisprovision, knowing that his
mercy and goodness are alwaysthere.
(29:05):
Weapons may form, but theycannot overcome us.
Weapons may slash out at us,but when we keep ourselves
dressed in those ruby, red inthe Word of God, we can make it,
because He's designed us to beovercomers.
(29:26):
And, I will say in closing, that He has given us even more
than that.
He has given us his armor.
So we need to dress ourselvesin the armor of God every day
and remember that when we'rewalking through that valley of
death, we are dressed in thearmor that's going to protect us
(29:47):
from all evil taking us out.
Now, Ephesians 6 reads, "Finallymy brethen, be strong in the
Lord and in the power of hismight.
Put on the whole armour of Godthat you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil, for we wrestle not against flesh
(30:08):
and blood, but againstprincipalities, against powers,
against the rulers of darknessof this world, against spiritual
wickedness in high places.
Wherefore, take unto you thewhole armor of God that you may
be able to withstand in the evilday and having done all to
(30:28):
stand.
Stand, therefore, having yourloins gird about with truth and
having on the breastplate ofrighteousness and your feet shod
up, laced up with thepreparation of the gospel of
peace.
And, above all, take the shieldof faith wherewith ye shall be
able to quench all the fierydarts of the wicked.
(30:51):
And take the helmet ofsalvation, and the sword of the
Spirit , which is the Word ofGod.
T hat is my prayer for all ofus, that we will be able to
withstand the trials andtribulations in confidence,
knowing that the God of allcreation is with us.
(31:13):

(31:44):
fearful, too lonely and eventoo greedy.

and be in love! Truth Drips,Bye-bye!
