This mid-week the Sam’s open with the shocking result in the Merseyside Derby with Everton beating Liverpool, practically securing safety and dashing Liverpool’s title hopes. Arsenal and City get big wins, the cherries find themselves in the top half of the table and Man U are in Europe (for now). The gin binge has begun as the boys enjoy each enjoy separate G&T’s.

The Foxes are back to the top of the championship with Leeds and Ipswich on their tail. 5 clubs are battling to stay up with Birmingham City currently in the drop. Both league 1 and 2 have assured their automatic promotions but the playoff spot with come down to the final day as 4 clubs fight for 2 spots!

The top of the Championship all blew their opportunities as Leicester lost twice, Ipswich could only manage draws and Leeds got a single point and then lost at home. Pompey is so close to a League 1 title but their draw to Bolton holds it off for another week. Stockport and Wrexham have secured automatic promotion out of League 2. Welcome to League 1 Wrexham.

This week both the Sam’s suffered crushing defeats. Man City takes control of the league as Palace and Villa hand Liverpool and Arsenal massive losses. Newcastle find themselves right back in the hunt for Europe by manhandling Spurs. Don’t look now, can Chelsea sneak into Europe after beating Everton 6-0. This week the Sam’s open with the bottom of the table where both Luton and Everton won… wait Everton won, why yes they did. The Northwest Derby sees Liverpool now trailing Arsenal in the table. English Premier League Midweek games did not disappoint, and Chelsea Man U was wild. The whole week had a lot of early goals, Phil Foden got a hat trick over Villa, Arsenal got a chance to rest for a week with an easy win over Luton, Forest finally showed up at home, the Cherries stay on A roll, and the nil-nil match was entertaining. Unfortunately, we can't go a week without talking about points deductions.

The Championship completely flipped the script this week as Ipswich leap-frogged everyone into first place. Three teams are separated by a point each. League 1 could be decided this week as Pompey gets ready to host Derby, it would seem the playoff is mostly decided too. In League 2 Stockport has moved back into 1st as Wrexham beat Mansfield but it’s looking like all three are heading to automatic promotion.

This week the Sam’s open with the match everyone had their eye on, Newcastle and West Ham! I know everyone thought it would be City and Arsenal, but we also talked about Fulham’s shootout with the Blades before that too. Another match for Everton and another shot of Malort for big Sam. Villa continues their hold on fourth despite Spurs getting a come-from-behind win over Luton.

It was limited matches throughout the EFL as international duty affects teams in the championship and League 1 but that’s not gonna stop the Sam’s from talking about League 2. They also take a moment to catch up on the National League along with the north and south divisions to see how some of the darlings of the FA Cup did. Also, a few surprising clubs have dropped into the lower non-leagues.

No matches in the Prem but it doesn’t mean the league didn’t give the Sam’s something to talk about. Forest received their point deduction, and Everton faces their second charge as Leicester has now been charged too. What does all of this mean, hell if the Sam’s know but they sure as heck talk about it. What does this mean for other clubs and the league? Could this push the Big 6 to a “super league”?

Leeds take over the top spot in the Championship as the Foxes, the Tractor Boys and the Saints are all in striking distance. Pompey continues to lead at the top of League 2 as it would seem only Derby is in the hunt. League 2 says Tranmere beat 1st and 3rd place in the same week as Forest Green got themselves out of the drop in the mid-week to find themselves back in the drop by the weekend.

This week the Sam’s open with Luton Towns roller coaster of a week. Losing to Bournemouth, drawing Forest, and then seeing Forest get a points deduction. The FA Cup was fantastic as Coventry advance to the semis, City and Chelsea advance but the Northwest Derby was a banger of a match as Man U beat Liverpool. The Sam’s open with another win for Leeds as they only sit 3 back of Leicester. Ipswich and Southampton points total would have them in the top 2 if it was another season. 7 spots in the bottom are separated by 3 points. Pompey’s lead in League 1 sits at 5 points but most everyone is caught up on matches. League 2 saw all top 4 side continue winning ways.

The Sam’s open as the 4 way race at the top of the championship heats up with Leicester losing, Leeds drawing and Ipswich and Southampton winning. 7 sides are at the risk of going down as they are all separated by less than 2 points. Pompey continues their lead on league 1 and Mansfield have their lead in league 2. The Sam’s finish with a recap of the 5th round of the FA Cup.

The Sam’s open with the Manchester Derby outside of a screamer of a goal by Rashford, it was a one-sided affair for City. Everton, Forest, and Luton can’t help themselves out of the bottom despite the opportunities to do so.
