(00:00):
What kind of race did you do? A5 kilometer race.
Well, I didn't know that. Did you win?
Oh, my God, did you win? I will tell you coming up.
Like, were you racing against humans?
Horses. Yeah, I went in a horse race.
Well, I wouldn't think I wouldn't.
Like I, the jockey rode me, David like right away for him
(00:23):
and I would go well, I don't think you won that.
Of any any animal in the whole world.
I think he would race a horse but he would lose badly.
But so would any human being. Bigly.
Bigly. You'd have to give him a lead
like he. It's like this isn't Michael
Phelps swims against the sharks. He lost and he got eaten like.
(00:51):
This is due to under due to underwhelming demand the the
podcast with a Rachel and Foreman that discovered during
our summer break a way to get more people to watch and listen
to our podcast. We just need to get Taylor Swift
(01:11):
off, yes? Yeah, wouldn't that be
something? We are working on it.
Yes, it made I'm. Sure, she'll be right here.
We are working on it, yeah. It's not a lie to say that we're
working on it and. We're hope it is not we're.
Yeah, sure. Yeah, that'd be great.
If there's a record that we could break, we're.
I'd love to meet her. We're sort of interested in
(01:33):
breaking it. We're not trying that hard, but
we are interested in sure more people want to listen.
That would be a good thing, you know, watch, listen, whatever.
So, Taylor. Next week, Taylor Swift.
If you bounce across us somewhere in your.
You know the promotion for this new movie and album this
weekend? Yeah, sure.
Yeah, sure. We're hard to.
Help with that? We can help with that,
(01:54):
Absolutely. Yeah, we could.
Poof, yeah. I mean, we know a lot of people.
She thought she was popular now.Wait till she's on our.
Podcast. That's enough.
Anyway, we have a new sponsor this week.
Well, not new new, new this week, but not new to us.
Intuition Nutrition also coming up.
(02:15):
Rachel plays some more hockey because she can.
She has to, for she has her entertainment.
That's right, Foreman wins a foot race and wow.
Wow. I know, and apparently against
someone or something faster thanhim.
And he won. He won.
(02:35):
No one said anything about winning.
OK, well, I you didn't give me any details.
I'm just going with what I have. And back to the Taylor Swift
thing, Dave. Well, we'll begin with my
problem. Let's just let's just delve
right into. Yeah, go right ahead.
Let's do a psychoanalysis of Dave Dave V Taylor.
(02:56):
Waiting for this day. Here you go, psychoanalysis.
Here's a chance. Here's the chance to look into
my psyche and go, what the hell is wrong with him?
Because I believe. I can't say we haven't wondered
that before. I know many people have.
You know when I say I'm not you,or if if you're not me, you know
(03:18):
that you're lucky. Because I'm like.
If you like me, I feel very sorry for you.
Right, right off right. That's why you're like me.
You know how much it sucks. Yeah.
Exactly. Right, OK.
Anyway, I find myself over the you know, while we had some time
off in between seasons, I found myself becoming more than
(03:41):
normally obsessed with Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey, and I
don't know why. Well, I don't think you're alone
in that. No, and I and I get that.
I mean, I and I understand a lotof I, I understand First off
that there's going to be a lot of people that just hate them
and that's they understand that. That's why she enters football
(04:04):
games behind a bulletproof, you know.
Oh, Shield, right, I mean. Something so you can't see her.
I don't know what it's made of, but just she's trying to hide.
I mean, we're just trying to sit.
Right, You know, 'cause. We wanna know, I thought.
It was a spectacle when she cameout and she was walking home.
Oh, sometimes it is. Sometimes it is.
I see there's. A lot of people that like her, a
lot of people that think it's something it's something else.
(04:26):
I'm of the other. I'm on the other side.
I have always been on the other side when it comes to Taylor
Swift. I like Taylor Swift.
I always have like Taylor Swift lived and I don't mean in a
weird way, I just liked her because of what we did for a
living. And I did it longer than you
guys, although Foreman you couldtaught me go for it.
(04:49):
When she arrived as a 14 year old, she was, I thought she was
terrific. I mean, I, I, I liked, I liked
the song Tim McGraw. I thought that was cute.
I thought it was clever. I thought it was genius.
I liked her. She she showed up on television
shows. I liked her, I always did like
her and my great regret is I never got to AC her.
(05:18):
B Meet her now In our little world of celebrity dumb, we
often get the chance to meet, especially when you play country
music, country musicians and I believe she came to London.
She's played London and Forman I.
Saw her. I you were there.
I was there too, yeah. Did you get a free ticket?
(05:39):
No, I paid for it, but I was working to get a free ticket at
the time. Yes, I go was there and I was
working and it was one of the first things Ashley and I ever
did together. Good for you.
Even though I could get her tickets to sit with a friend
somewhere else and then another person and IA colleague and I
(06:00):
were going around, I think we had at a contest, we were going
up to the nosebleeds to give somebody front row tickets and
then we would sit there of course.
So either way, we were there coming together.
And we were glad it was. Taylor.
Swift she opened for. I think Brad Paisley, Taylor
Swift. Before Rodney Atkins, before she
was the opener. Before the opener.
(06:21):
Did you get to meet? Her at all?
No. And I walked right by and I
didn't care. And I regret that so much
because she was outside gate oneof whatever Canada Life Place
now of the arena in downtown London, being interviewed by the
afternoon guy on BX93 under the little radio tent.
Nobody cared, nobody came by. I'd like to talk about him.
(06:43):
I'd like to talk about that. Would you just so you know, in a
lot of cases, if you're listening, watching the podcast,
you think, oh, we get in for free and we get to do all of
this stuff. Not always.
I paid for a lot of tickets thatI for events.
A lot of the events that I went to, some of the events we
literally came in through the the the stage door and would
(07:09):
walk on stage, introduce the band and go home.
Right. Yeah, we.
Didn't have to. We do that.
We do that. Well, because we didn't have
tickets. Yeah.
When it comes to the radio station, the music director
always knows somebody, right? All the record label people
trying to butter them up. They know the record people,
they know all of that stuff. They always get in.
(07:31):
They get they get the meet and greets, they always get in.
And in any case, the afternoon guy in that particular case.
Not that I have a grudge, Foreman, you would have been,
didn't you? Introduce the.
No, we weren't invited to go. I was still.
Working off the show and somebody went on stage to
introduce them. Maybe it was.
The answer? It wasn't me.
(07:51):
It must have been him. It was that afternoon, Guy I'll.
Let you. I was still working with Jackie.
And we actually. We actually went to the boss,
the operations manager. So this guy was below the
operations manager and the operations manager then?
I thought we were getting into how much Dave's loved Taylor
Swift, but it's, well, it's the.Engine Now I want to clear this
(08:13):
up. I got to clear this up the
operation. 20 year old office, politician office.
The. Operations manager took this
side essentially we went in and said, hey, why weren't we?
Because we found out not that look that your morning show
generally and I'm I don't reallycare.
I'm not, but I, I never had a big eagle.
But when you look at the food chain of the radio station for
(08:35):
him and you would have been downat the bottom of that food chain
and I was. Off air, behind the scenes
producer at the time who went tothe show for free and met Brad
Paisley? Yes.
I didn't need to meet him. No one asked me to go.
No one gave me a ticket. You're there.
Hand it out. Tickets.
To the front row. Yes.
And we got nothing. And so we went and said, hey,
(08:56):
what's the deal with that? And the operations manager
blamed us and I'm not sure anyway.
So my regret was I never saw her.
I never saw her. I didn't meet her at that point.
And then I went to Bay Fest and she was supposed to open for
Rascal Flatts at Bay Fest, except she didn't.
(09:20):
I can't remember the reason why,but she didn't.
So once again. She escaped you.
She escaped me, yeah. And then at that time, I went
off to Saskatchewan and I saw Taylor Swift headline Craven
Country Jamboree. Good for you.
Did you meet her? Didn't meet her but did run into
some guys backstage going aroundin a golf cart trying to find
(09:44):
some pallets or bits of wood or whatever.
Because in their words and in their tone, some little Princess
wants a bonfire. They were collecting wood to
make Taylor Swift a. Fire.
I don't. I don't believe in that.
I don't believe any of that. Nonsense.
Anyway, that happened. Then and then, Taylor Swift
became slowly but surely the biggest, I would argue now star
(10:07):
in the world. Yeah, of course.
And we, we attempted last year to get to everybody was trying
to get tickets to go see the era's thing in Toronto and, and
those Canadians. Going to see her in like Poland
and having a week in Europe and come back and it was still
cheaper than seeing her in Toronto.
I mean anyway my. Daughter still to this day says
(10:27):
her dream is to see Taylor Swiftat the era's tour.
Yes, I said, oh, well, that's not.
I think we can do that. I do too.
We always reply. Yeah, well, we've seen her
twice. Yeah, well, I didn't get to see
her, so that's, you know, I don't want to go to.
Anyway, Long story short, now out of that eras thing comes
(10:47):
Travis Kelsey. Now, I'm a football fan.
I'm not necessarily a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but, you know,
I don't hate them. You know, like there are certain
teams I don't like Kansas City'snot one of them.
They won a couple of Super Bowlsand all of a sudden he he did
this whole, as we find out from the podcast, he did this whole,
(11:10):
hey, I made you a bracelet. You wouldn't want to meet me.
She's like, who's this dude? So if you listen to the podcast,
you have to listen to her. Not that I want you to, you
know, move from this podcast, listen to the story of how they
met. It's cute.
It's yeah, it's, she essentiallysays.
It's right out of one of my songs.
(11:32):
Like it's literally right out ofmy.
Manifesting. So I'm like, the air thing was
cool. Then I see her with him.
She shows up at football games. I'm like, I just want to know,
is she there? Is Kansas City on TV tonight?
Is she there? That's all I care.
I I don't really care about anything.
Is she going to be there? Then they win the Super Bowl.
She's on the field's awesome. Last year they didn't win the
(11:55):
Super Bowl. That's too bad, but she was
still you know, there, she's there and then the brothers have
the podcast. I liked it.
I like his brother. I like his with them.
Awesome. I like, I just really liked
them. And then they're all of a sudden
she's going to be on the podcastand I'm like, I have and and
then I'm. Like summer is made, yeah.
When when does this thing drop? So I'm, I'm two days early and
(12:19):
I'm like on my phone. I'm like, what do you mean?
It's not there yet? Anyway, So I, I listen, I watch,
you know, I do all of the thingsyou do with podcasts.
I'm more of a listener. I prefer listening.
I loved what she had to say. She has a new album coming out.
I get it. She's just there to promote.
But their podcast went through the roof and she told great
little stories about how they met, what they do.
(12:42):
I loved hearing how, you know, we all think she's this huge
superstar who goes on stage every night and just 2 1/2 to 3
hours or whatever on the air is to her, but is essentially in
her hotel room with things on her feet because her feet hurt
so much from being in. It's not that easy.
And that's what I love about her, that she tells you.
(13:02):
Yeah, this is what I go through. It's not elegant.
It's not glamorous. My feet hurt.
A lot of work to entertain. Yes, and then I got to go back
and do another 2 1/2 three. It's great.
She's she's all that stuff. It's awesome.
Anyway, I'm invested in the podcast.
I listen to it, I watch them. I'm like, boy, I like those two.
(13:24):
Give me more I need. More.
Yes, I want more. And then bam, I get it.
Yeah, very engaged. How?
When, where? Please, I beg you.
Right after that podcast, as it turns out.
(13:46):
Dad tells me a little bit, but Iwant more.
I can't get enough I want. Her 20 something year old.
Swifty what's at the? Concert obsessed.
What's wrong with me? What's?
Wrong with me I. Don't know, maybe we can get his
dad on our podcast because he's going on Australian radio shows
and stuff. He's willing to.
(14:06):
Doug, yeah, he talks about. Dad and Kelsey OK him on.
Wow, we need somebody. They're both very actually the
whole fan, the brother and the brother's wife.
I like her too. She has a podcast.
They're all very, very likable people.
They're all down to earth. They're likable.
They know that they, and I thinkTaylor learned early that you
(14:28):
need to be relatable, you need to be humble, down to earth,
stay that way. People love you.
And Jason was. Playing He joined the band on
Monday Night Football, was playing sex.
And it was. Amazing.
And it was so funny because. They gave.
They gave him the the the helmetthing to put on and he said I
thought it fit but I thought it looked better if I had it right
(14:50):
under my nose. Isn't that the Queen's guards
wear them? Yes.
They're the best. They're deep, they're very
likeable that you can't find a fault with these, any of them.
There's a great, there's a standup comedian who does a great
bit. She's like, you know why Taylor
Swift likes this boy? Because she took one look at his
(15:12):
Mama. She had on a very sensible shoe
and she knew. Yeah, I think when you when you
find somebody who's so down to earth and relatable just like
you are, you don't let them, youdon't let them go.
No. And that's why they're so
famous. That's why people love them.
I. Feel like they're.
Celebrities who are relatable and down to earth.
(15:34):
I don't know, I feel like they don't need any more money.
He's doing the podcast. She's got an album, she's
promoting the album on this podcast.
So they just get more like it. Just they're just feeding it.
They're. Fighting to do 1.
Another but I need them to have a reality show.
Please. The only reality?
They'll ever do that. I think they will give you what
they want to give you and they know that they don't have to do
(15:55):
any more than that. It's.
The only show I would ever watchever.
They've already hooked to Dave. They know.
It No, I'm in. They know it.
I'm in. This is due to underwhelming
(16:25):
demand. It's a podcast, it's Dave,
Rachel and Foreman and this podcast is this spine high
quality podcast is brought to you by the high quality
establishment Intuition Nutrition.
Discover the joy of eating. Well, and they've got a free, a
free special event coming up on yeah, October 16th.
(16:47):
So we. Never happens.
Free. I know the event is called Fall
into Nourishment. It's happening October number
16th at the Thompson Medical Center which is in their office
is there on Gainsborough Rd. in Hyde.
Park second in Hyde. Park, Yep, in Hyde Park, London.
It's a free drop in Wellness day, so they've got warm
beverages and snacks if that'll get you in the door.
(17:09):
They've got some recipes for you, handouts.
They've got nourishing family tips.
One of the dietitians, if you have kids who are picky eaters,
she works with you to help find some things that maybe the kids
will enjoy. How you can get because you
know, my kids eat chicken Nuggets every single day if we
let them, right? So it's hard to feed kids
sometimes, right? So maybe if you're worried about
(17:31):
what they're eating, are they getting enough nutrition,
nutrients, whatever, intuition can help help you.
They've got lots of people therenow working.
So now there's four of them who are working all together and.
This event is free, but keep in mind all these services that
come with it, most of them covered by your benefits.
Yeah, because they are registered dietitians, the
(17:52):
therapy services are covered as well.
They take a weight inclusive anti diet approach to helping
clients, you know, adults, kids, whoever, improve their
relationship with food, reduce the food noise when you're
thinking about constantly what am I going to eat or what did I
eat or oh, I shouldn't have had this or whatever, right?
They can help you reduce the food noise.
(18:14):
They can help with diabetes, cholesterol.
They have corporate Wellness workshops.
I know Jenna does a lot of workshops, partner sessions.
They have Saturday appointments now.
So if you want to go on a weekend, you can do that too.
So lots of things that they offer and you can check them out
at this Fall into Nourishment event on October 16th.
It's a Thursday, noon till 4, free.
(18:39):
This is due to underwhelming demand.
It's the podcast that's like theleaves falling in your yard this
time of year. Inevitable.
And there's nothing you can do about it.
Like, not a damn thing so. Suck it up.
Suck it up. We're inevitable.
Yes, Inevitable. Yeah, we are.
It is inevitable that I've done something major in my life.
Have you? That neither of you know
(19:01):
anything about. Yes, you won.
You won a foot. Race and I publicized the
absolute hell out of this thing you did.
We've absolutely talked about iton this podcast.
I swear to God. Really, we must have.
We had to have what? I don't think so.
I ran a 5K. When?
July. I had no idea you did that until
(19:24):
like the other day. Really.
I know. Did you?
Win. Who are you?
OK. Who are you running against?
Other people who signed up for a5K.
What a foot race. Was it a foot race?
Like a major race. Were you racing?
Did you win? Did you win?
Did I was timed? I had a number.
(19:46):
It was a chip time. It was a real proper, full on,
full blown race. What was your time?
Yeah, my time. 5 kilometers, yeah, 29 minutes and 9 seconds.
That's pretty. Fast.
That's pretty good, I. No.
I think the last time I ran a 5K, which was a lifetime ago, I
was 31 minutes so. You're faster than.
(20:07):
No, I don't even come close to that.
I'm but I'm old but you know, 30. 334 So now I'm old.
And so for my age group, I came eighth.
Oh wow. OK.
That's impressive. I am impressed by.
That for the over 40s. Whatever age group you think I'm
in, that what? Are you 40 plus?
(20:27):
So does that include the? Does that include like the 60
and 70 year olds that you beat? No, that's come on.
I mean, I beat them anyway, but they're.
Foreman up against you, Dave, and then be like right?
That wouldn't be fair to you. I think he's in the 40 plus, so
of course if you finish 8th, if a guy 60 beat you, Foreman I'm I
(20:49):
would be. No, it's not 40 to Infinity you.
I want to could be you. I think there's a 50.
Category. And a 60 category and a 70.
I guess 40 plus. Go by.
Decade A 70 year old lady who ran past you.
She probably smoked you. So now running at age 70, I'm
(21:10):
impressed. Hey, I'm the.
No, the organizer. Not running at 42.
Can you tell? The organizer of this event,
just by the way, who's only beenrunning herself for.
What was this event? 10 years.
She, by the way, is not in the 40 category.
She's perhaps a little bit abovethat.
And she absolutely beat my time. She smoked me.
(21:33):
Wow. Oh, for sure.
She's amazing, was. She in your category.
No, no, no, no. No, no she's not.
Little about what she says. Can you tell us?
The name, so her name is Tamara Bull and this is the event is
called Tilsenburg's Running withthe Bulls because her last name
is Bull and that's hilarious. I think I did see you post
something. Like that I did a lot.
(21:54):
We probably, I'm pretty sure we talked about it here and I
talked about a lot on the radio, two different radio stations.
I did. I thought I didn't know you were
running. I thought you were just working.
What did you think it was? I.
I thought you were like just there for the radio station.
That was clever. It's very clever, but it wasn't
clever enough to to, to, you know, register.
Noise. Register with a couple of idiot
(22:15):
radio former radio people who have no clue.
Don't do anything anymore. We could do a suit.
So you ran with the bulls? Yes.
How many people are running in this thing?
Hundreds. Hundreds.
OK, hundreds for sure. There's a 5K, there's a 10K.
Did you run through? Why didn't you hold on?
Why didn't you do the 10K? Is that your fucking?
Question a second. Let me get to that one.
(22:35):
OK, where where did you run? Like through the streets of
Tilsonburg? No, there's a trail like one of
those trails that used to be train tracks and now it's a
straight, flat trail. Running trail and.
Where is it? Through Telsonburg.
Oh well that's what I'm asking. Did you run through?
The streets. No, not on the I didn't.
It's not a road course like it'sa straight track basically.
(22:57):
And then you get to 2 1/2 K and you turn around and come back.
Oh OK, yes, I did one of those. Again, it used to be train
tracks, so you would just keep going if you just like kept
going straight. Oh, so you know, kept back you
if you. Kelly running stuck.
Yes. Would you have you Simcoe?
Depends on which direction you were running when you started.
Did you go? East or West?
Talk about that. East or West?
(23:18):
East. Oh, but then you if you kept
running, you would run right into Teeterville.
Where's is Totterville the otherway?
You know, if you keep going, yes.
It is. OK, Downhill one way, uphill the
other. Exactly right.
OK, so 5K. Not uphill both ways 5.
K, so 2 1/2 and then you turn around and go back.
Yes, All right. Why not the 10K?
(23:40):
Because it's my first race ever and absolutely not.
This is your first race ever. You've been running for a long
time though. But why I didn't?
I didn't have any reason to enter a race and do.
It. What do you always call it?
He run walked. Yeah, he was.
Running like regular like you were doing, I thought.
I don't know. I just I thought.
It took me a while, like right up to this race to do, to
(24:03):
regularly fully run 5K without taking break.
I got to the point. Where it takes a lot of
training. Yes it does.
I got to the point where I was doing it on a routine basis and
I did a couple of I think Rachel, we did the color run
with our spouses, which I really, that was my first five
Ki don't think they ever did another one.
(24:24):
I don't think I didn't enjoy it.I did, I did a couple 5 KS, two
or three maybe. And then I did a 10K one time
and I thought the 10K was very boring.
I didn't like training for it because I didn't like just being
out by myself. And but you know, some people
like it, they're it's relaxing, but I didn't I didn't love it.
5K is like 30 minutes good. I'm OK and.
There's hardcore. This is a race where like,
(24:46):
because it's chip timed, it's whatever.
The racing people go to these things, they're hardcore.
There are people who've done that 10K in about the same time
it took me to do 5, yes. Oh.
Yeah, yeah, it's cool. It is a big fun.
That was the other benefit of this event.
It's a big fundraiser. It's for families facing a
cancer diagnosis. If you have a child with cancer,
it gives. They help you with money if
(25:07):
you're going back and forth to the hospital in Toronto and all
the extra costs that go along with treatments.
Oh yeah, absolutely. Yeah, it's a great event.
I'm trying to remember my last five.
Ki did the Run for the Cure, which was last year.
We did that. Oh, good for you.
And that's the actually the lasttime I ran 5 Ki still go out and
(25:31):
run, but I, I tend to do, you know, I do, I'll run a little
bit and walk and then I'll run. I'll do the run.
Yeah. You run, walk.
Yeah, that's. OK, yeah, but I'm impressed it's
not when you do one of those. I think the color run was my
very. I had just started running and
it was my first race that was like. 10 years.
(25:51):
Ago absolutely thrilled when I did it.
Well, Dave only started running and let this be a lesson and
also my hockey that you are never too late to start.
Something new because. You started running in your 50s.
Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
Late 50s I think. Yep.
And that's the same as Tamara, who runs this event.
That's it was exactly the same. Yes you can do.
(26:12):
You can start anytime. I still, I still run, not very
much, but I still run. I, you know, I just think it's,
it's really good for you. Well, she can kick, she can kick
all of our asses for sure. And she's and to organize this
thing and you get all the you get the water bottle and you get
all the things and you get a shirt, which is all great.
But all that she is able to organize and have it donated.
(26:34):
So all your actual donation money doesn't actually pay for
any of that. Oh great.
Which is very unlike some of those other runs that perhaps
you already just mentioned righthere where you are paying for
that stuff. We did a.
Thing on the radio a number of years ago, this was many years
ago for him and I would like to try this now with you now that
I've discovered you like to run and you're a good runner 20. 9
to run as a stretch, but go. On but 29, it's a good time.
(26:57):
We had a guy that he was a long distance runner, he would run
marathons and stuff and we decided to do a thing.
We did it at the Western Fair onthe track.
Man versus horse would you be upfor?
That that's not a real thing that you did.
Yeah, we did. You're a big man versus horse.
We gave man somebody for the radio.
(27:17):
We gave. Man, we gave man a head start,
OK. And then the horse.
So the horse had to start at onepoint and and man was ahead.
And I don't forget who won, but I'd like to see you do that.
Forget who won, I forget it. Well, horse won if.
There's a horse that I know thatwould race you probably.
(27:40):
And probably he's someone familiar on its back.
Yeah. I don't know that horse is old
and injured, so yeah, I might actually want to take him up on
that. We're.
In now we got. Race brother Windsor.
Now we got who's? The favorite son now?
Now we got a race. This is due to underwhelming
(28:03):
demand. It's Dave, Rachel, inform.
And this is the podcast that is now proudly more underwhelming
than ever. Listen, when you call yourself
underwhelming, you have an obligation to deliver.
Yeah, right. Are we not?
Believe me, if we were the Kelsey Brothers, this whole
(28:23):
podcast would basically be any of their episodes that did not
feature Taylor Swift. That's right.
That's fine. That's who we are.
Yes. Also underwhelming is my hockey
career lately, so I've signed upto play hockey again.
OK. Yeah, I've.
Even though you don't want to. I don't want to and I've told
(28:44):
everybody that I have not made asecret of it and I skipped week
1. So you haven't played yet?
No, I haven't gone yet. Why did you skip?
You just didn't feel like it. I didn't feel like it.
It seemed very daunting. We had a lot of stuff going on
that day, including kids activities and things at night
time we had to do before. I leave my house at 8:30 at
(29:08):
night and go play hockey from 9 till 10:30 PM.
And I was like, yeah, I just don't feel like I just can't
myself to put skates on and havea claw foot for an hour and a
half and what? Do we?
What do we is? That because my feet hurt.
What then, are we talking about here?
How to motivate Rachel? I guess I need motivation so the
(29:31):
the. What is?
I have a few. Things that I want to address
here with hockey. I was going.
To I won't be going to Week 2 because because I won't be going
to Week 2, so I'll go to Week 3.That's my goal.
I won't be going. Why not week?
2 Because they're doing power skating.
(29:51):
We have a guest come and and teach us power skating.
It's hell on earth. I did that last.
No, no, well, probably, but it would hurt like a bitch and I
it's hell on earth for like an hour to do that.
Like it's too much. So I'm not going to that.
Do you think you would benefit from some power skating?
(30:13):
I don't know how much. I mean probably a little bit,
but I don't know how far it's going to take me.
Do you know what I mean? Like I just to get out there and
skate around and just kind of bumble around on the ice, like
that's good enough for me. You're not racing a horse.
I'm not racing a horse skates, no.
You're not planning on? Even if the horse ran on the ice
(30:35):
and was slipping, he would stillwin.
Gosh, I'd love to watch that unless I can picture it now.
Shuttled myself down in my equipment and just.
Okay. Sorry, what were we talking
about? Windsor trying to run on ice.
(30:55):
I was having one of those Happy Gilmore fantasy moments.
OK, all right, calm. Down happy.
I haven't actually gone to hockey and a lot of people, a
lot of people have asked me about it.
I saw family in the summer. They all asked me because they
hadn't seen me since hockey ended.
They were like, I can't believe you played hockey.
I'm like, I can't believe it either, actually.
(31:16):
And they're like, did you like it?
I'm like, no, I didn't like it, but I went and I did it so.
And they were like, oh, OK. They don't.
They don't expect you to say that no.
So so far this year I feel. Like everybody's supposed to
like it, but like, I don't let. Me ask you something I need.
I need this cleared up but I'm pretty sure I know the answer.
(31:38):
Have you already paid to play hockey?
Yeah, yeah, I've paid the fee toplay and I've also bought all
this equipment. Yeah, OK.
Like I'm hundreds of dollars into this new activity.
So these that I hate. These first two because you're
not going to go to power skating.
Like because. I don't.
I don't. I don't need that.
I'm not planning on power skating.
(31:59):
No, I need it, but I'm not. Doing it and I was, and I was
too tired from yeah, activities the first day.
Yeah, the activities warmed me out.
Really hard to get yourself out the door and get there for 9:00.
Like a lot of the girls. We all show it.
Last year we would show up and everybody would just say, oh, we
had a nap on the couch before wecame because you need it because
(32:21):
you're tired at 7:00, so you just fall asleep for an hour.
Did you? Ever play hockey for him?
Unfortunately not. Oh, OK, because all the money,
guess where it went. We'll give you one guess.
It's got 4 hooves. OK, All right, calm down.
Don't bring it up, Dave. I know I why did.
God, well, I'm here to tell you that you're never too late to to
start. I don't so.
(32:42):
Sounds like it. You actually can be in this
particular. Sport.
Well, no, because when I played, when I played hockey, when I got
older, when I was a kid, I played hockey.
But as an adult I used to get all.
I would just go, I can't wait togo.
And you're like, I don't want togo.
So I like going and and hang. I like the room.
(33:03):
And my. Husband was like, you're there
for the room, you're there for the luck and I'm like, yes,
we're all you know, everybody brings a beer.
We all you have a beer in the room or whatever and you and you
hang out before and after and what?
And it's that's fun, right, To be with all the girls hockey.
I don't mind getting out there if we're scrimmaging and that's
what we're doing. That's fun.
That is fun and it's a it's you don't realize how hard you're
(33:25):
working because it's so cold, but then you take off yourself.
I'm like, wow, I'm sweating a lot.
Of course, you don't realize howbecause it's difficult, right?
And so getting out and playing the scrimmage and that kind of
stuff, that is fun. So I think I need to focus on
that. Once we get past power skating
week, then I can be like, all right, yes, the scrimmage, which
you don't. Have to worry about power
skating week because you're not going anyway.
(33:46):
No, yeah, that's why I'm skipping it.
Yeah. The good thing that's come out
of this, though, is that I say to my kids, you're never too old
to start something new. You can try it.
Even if you're not great, like I'm really bad.
It doesn't matter. You can still do it.
And I'm thinking, I don't know if they're hearing me.
I hope this is a good lesson forthem and that they.
Can try. Things they can do, they've
(34:06):
watched a couple times. Yeah, last year they did.
And what do they think? I think they think it's kind of,
I don't know what they think they're like, Mom, you're really
bad. I'm like, yeah, I know, but
whatever, I don't care. I'm doing it.
So this year my daughter Kendall, who is not not she has
not been overly athletic at all.She has now joined the cross
(34:27):
country team. Yeah, which I was shocked by.
Now a lot of her friends are on it, so.
And this was the first year she could do it because it starts in
Grade 3 and she's in grade 3. So she's on this team.
And I'm like, you do you join? She'd been talking about joining
before and I and she is, she hasjoined.
And she said, I don't care if I'm the worst one, mom.
(34:50):
I don't care if I'm at the very back.
I'm just going to do it and do my best.
And I'm like, Oh my God, she's listening to me.
She heard me. She heard what I said and then
on the second day she's like, I wasn't the last one today, mom,
I said you weren't. No, I was second last.
OK, great. And then?
Better than Mom ever did. She's got yeah, I was never on
cross country. Each day she's improved because
(35:13):
they have to practice every day at school and the meat is coming
up in a week or so, I think maybe 2 weeks.
And she loves it. She loves it.
And she's OK with not being the best.
That's a good thing. And she's OK with just trying.
So I'm glad it's kind of rubbed off.
So now I feel like I do have to follow through with hockey this
year because. You have to listen to her.
(35:35):
And I have to continue to be this example that I hope that
she's following. What's that I keep hearing all
the time lately? It's a follow.
Follow the plan, not your mood. Oh, is that what?
Follow the plan, not your. Mood.
Maybe she can convince you to goto power skate.
Yes, that's what I'm. Hoping for nobody can convince
me of that. This is due to underwhelming
(36:06):
demand. It's a podcast where Dave,
Rachel informant. Check out our website
underwhelming.ca if you know or would like to sponsor this fine
podcast. Information is right there on
the website youcanemailus.daverachelforeman@gmail.com.
And a shout out to Intuition Nutrition for sponsoring this
(36:28):
episode of our. Podcast free Drop in Wellness
Day October 16th, noon to 4. At Thompson Medical Center in
Hyde Park on Gainsborough Rd. Got it.
But we have a brand new e-mail from my favorite person,
Foreman's mom. Oh.
Yes. It's like you say the word horse
and she appears. Yes.
Perfect. That's very true.
(36:49):
She could, her ears were burningbecause we were talking about
Windsor, she says. Dear Dave, Rachel and Foreman,
welcome back. I loved your first episode of
the season. Oh, that's very nice.
Yes, thank you for listening. I thought I would add a fun fact
to promote drinking beer out of bottles versus cans.
Oh, she's with you, Foreman. She's with you, Foreman.
You agree on something. Did you know that the beer cans
(37:10):
and bottle caps are lined with plastic?
Some of the plastic may contain BPA.
We are all unwittingly consuming.
We are all unwittingly consumingmicroplastics every day.
Just think of how they're formants.
Mom, thank you for that. Think of how you can reduce your
plastic intake from beer cans alone by switching to bottles.
(37:31):
It's too bad only 7% of beer sold is in bottles.
Moosehead. And then she actually sent a
photo I think of her having the Corona Zero in a bottle, which
is what my husband Jeremy has all the time now.
He's always on the Corona 0. Well, she says Corona in cans
just doesn't cut it. You're fan.
You're fan. Kathy and that is?
Correct. Yeah, you can't put the lime in
(37:51):
there very easily in the can. I mean you have to pour it.
You need the bottle. I have a message from Rosa who
went to our web page underwhelming.ca and sent us a
message there, which you can do,she says.
I miss listening to the podcast.I hope everything is good in
each of your lives. I wish you the best in your next
(38:12):
adventure, no? We're not gone.
We didn't. Nobody died.
Nobody. Died.
We're still we died. She sent that just as our first
episode so this season. Came out.
So she probably hasn't heard it yet.
So once you get to this one, Rosa, thank you very much.
She thought we all broke up. I didn't break out, no.
Or you should just use an AI to write that.
(38:32):
Read that again. I don't know, it could be AII
miss listening to the podcast. I hope everything is good in
each of your lives. I wish the best in your next
adventure. Yes, that's that's, I don't
know, I don't think that's a real person that doesn't pass
the CAPTCHA test I've seen. This e-mail before, so maybe I.
Don't think so. Or is it?
Tell me where all the traffic lights are and then we'll talk.
(38:53):
Yes, exactly. Choose all the crosswalks, Yes.
OK. I apologize sincerely.
Well, I think I've seen that e-mail before, but I don't want
to read it out loud so. Sorry, it does sound I can't
because I love. But I suspect that one too for
me, and I'm with you, I'm with you.
I'm with you. Well, I know that we've heard
from Donna before and Donna has bought us 3 coffees.
(39:17):

because she says it's from new Grandma Donna.

(40:42):
Tuesday though is my favorite day due to this podcast.
Have a great summer. Lovely.
Well, thank you. Well.
Obviously we couldn't have read that before we left.
So no, exactly it was after. After the fact.
So thank you very much. Speak of your whole life story
on this particular episode, Rachel.
What a coincidence that we have one more comment.
(41:04):
It's on Spotify from Casey. From.
Casey Casey, who says Rachel, sister, life's too short to
continue to do something you hate.
Ditch those skates. Wow, did Casey know what I was
going to talk about today? I think the last episode you
mentioned we were going to get to hockey, so that's.
(41:25):
True. Yeah, that I hated it.
Ditch those skates. You know what, Casey, you might
be right. I was there for the personal
growth, but I feel like I've grown enough so.
We always listen to advice like I I remember once we.
Listened to advice that we really want to be.
Told that we want to be told like I remember.
Just quit, OK? Something my wife was watching
(41:46):
one time and, and, and I I thinkit was the guys that you said.
What was the IT was the thing a queer, was it Queer Eye for the
Straight guy where they would redo the guy, Right?
They would. And I remember one of the guys
saying I'm, I'm like kind of half paying attention to it
while I'm watching. And one of the guys said life's
too short to drink cheap beer. And for some reason I adopted
(42:09):
that that right then I went. You know what?
Right. What is this show I?
Don't need an excuse to spend more money on good.
News Now. Thank you for telling me that.
Right? Exactly.
Just like Rachel's hockey career, make sure you pay for a
season first and then. And then don't.
Fucking go. Walk away.
Walk away. Then fuck right off.
