(00:07):
Welcome to Dungeons and Disasters AD and D5 E podcast
where I, Josiah, learn how to DMand so much more.
Without further ado, let's get into the episode.
(00:28):
Welcome to the Crooked Moon. Actual played DND 5 E full core
campaign made by legends of evantress.
I'm your DM, Sean. Hey, I'm Trevor and I'm playing
Arthur the Ashbourne Sinner robe.
This is Sir Williams 09/09 and I'm playing Asta Staria, a human
fighter. Hey, I'm Josiah and I'll be
playing Bingo Boingo, the threadborn Crimson Sorcery sorcerer.
(00:52):
Hi, I'm Caitlin. I'm playing Althea.
I'm Ashbourne Barbarian. Hello, I'm Josh and I play as
Rouse, the plague born monk. My name's Reese and I'm playing
Cotton, a thread born cleric. Join our players on their
chilling adventure as they explore dress convolved beneath
the crooked moon. As midnight approaches, Ace,
(01:16):
Asta, and Althea slowly emerge from the fog, the Obsidian
standing stone just outside KilnCreek Cemetery beckoning.
None of the locals know why it was there.
No one could even remember who put it there.
From generation to generation itstood there, a solitary Seminole
(01:39):
standing guard in the pale moonlight.
And to paint the screen a littlebit more, the cemetery sits on a
bit of a hill above the town of of Kiln Creek.
(02:00):
Ace Althea. That's you, Lena.
Yes. Do I know where exactly to go?
Remember what we talked about like?
(02:22):
With the standing stone. So this is the entrance to Drugs
Involved Austria. I've been here before.
No, I haven't. It's it's a fun ride.
Let's go. Oh boy.
(02:43):
I walk up to the standing stone and I draw a cross.
Do that and as you trace this cross on the standing stone, the
gates of the cemetery swing openas in the middle of them a pair
of big heavy wooden doors appears appear essentially.
(03:11):
So the gate from the cemetery swings open and there's a pair
of big metal or big wooden heavydoors that appear where the gate
was are. They locked closed.
Well, they're closed, but I got locked.
I got to. I got to try to open them.
That's me was open all. Right.
(03:32):
What do I find on the other side?
So as the doors open, do you enter?
Does it? Does it look safe?
Yes. You and I enter.
So as you enter, you're teleported to a near to a near
empty field. Near empty due to the due to two
(03:54):
figures standing side by side and a small fan handful of
people that you can barely make out standing as a group, each
one faintly growing, glowing in a soft green light.
Every few. A few here and there muttered
themselves quietly, but for the most part they stand by in
silence. Occasionally you catch a
(04:16):
fleeting glimpse of skeletal faces peering at you from the
group. Do I know who these are or what
they might be? Not particularly, but they don't
seem to be messing with you. It'd be safe to assume they're
probably going to be fellow passengers aboard the train I.
Tip my little top hat to them and as I look around to see if
(04:39):
my traveling partners are have come through on our side, my
character shows some shock. Wow that was so cool.
Do we go now too? I don't know about you, but I'll
(05:06):
push you through before I go through.
Don't we? I'll just go ahead ahead
anyways. Let's go, OK.
Let's go. Together.
Sure. OK, so then we pass through as
well. And same scene before you, and
only now, in addition to the twoother two solitary figures in
the dark, you can make out the silhouette of Ace as well.
(05:30):
Do you see them too? Yeah, I see them.
Don't mind, are you crazy too? No, don't mind that they're
passing, but don't worry. Are you sure?
I don't know. I don't know.
If you're sure or not. I'm not lying.
Are you sure? It's been a long couple hours.
Go talk to them. OK, I'll go talking.
I'm welcome to go talk to this guy.
(05:50):
So you do you approach the two other silhouettes in the
darkness or Yeah, I do, right? No beer rouse, please.
And and yeah. Cot cot, cot, cot.
Ross. Ross and Cotton, please describe
(06:11):
your character. Well I'm about 5 59.
I've got dark robes, dark plaguemask on, sitting there holding
the spear, no shoes, you can seewhat look like big rat feet and
a rat tail kind of out. Underneath the ropes.
(06:35):
I am about two feet tall. I am quite clearly a doll.
I have like a porcelain white face, like a gesture hat.
I carry a shield and a mix and II have kind of like this almost
garish outfit but with a focus on green.
(07:05):
You see you can't me and asked to approach and you see you see
very small looking you know looking thing small horns, deep
red skin, bright blue eyes and very fine looks like new attire
at the top that he tips it to you the 2 feet grim as he as he
(07:30):
greets you. How y'all doing hi?
My name is Cotton. I serve the Green Queen.
Who the heck is the Green Queen? She's she's my God.
Oh, cool. OK, How about you?
Yeah, I'm. I'm doing fine.
(07:50):
Sitting back to Justin Hold. Got some grades to tend to.
You're a grave tender. We are both grave tenders.
Nice job. I serve the Green Queen by
putting people to rest. What kind of goddess?
She's the God of the harvest andcycles the.
Harvest cycles. Yeah, that's that's neat.
(08:14):
The seed is planted and it's reborn.
OK, OK. Hey Hasta, how can you introduce
yourself? So you guys see he's like 15
years old, 53 human that has a black horn out of his right side
(08:36):
of his head and most of his right side has like a shattering
dark figure, almost kind of likea venom black on him and the
covers his partially of his face, going all the way down to
his feet and arms. Hi guys, how we doing chipper
(08:56):
I'm. Great.
How are you? I'm doing great.
I've never been on a train before.
These two are going to just feedoff of each.
Other This is really bad guys. Oh gosh, I've.
I've been on a train a couple times.
We have trains or they go reallyfast.
(09:19):
That's awesome. Well, I hope you enjoy the ride.
What was your name? Asta.
Asta. I got.
Hi, guy. I think we're going to be best
friends. Did we just become best friends?
At least it's up my hair. Mom, Dad, can we Can we bunk our
beds? I'm not adopting this one.
(09:46):
So, Cotton, what'd you say your name was?
Rouse. Rouse.
Nice to meet you all. Nice to meet you.
How long have you guys been in drugs at all?
That's kind of hard to say. That was made there.
OK. Althea comes behind Asta with
(10:09):
she looks like red Venetian skinkind of like Arthur but with
curly 2C hair, red hair, vials of blue, purple potions coming
out of her skin. Also swirling a black circles
rolling around her arms and her legs in it with scorpion tail.
(10:34):
Wearing a western green skirt with a corset white top has
horns like devil horns that curlappearing over Austin.
Hi, Are you sure you're real to Cotton?
I think so. Is he real?
(10:58):
Banks on my I knock out my my ceramic head and it kind of
clanks because my hands are alsoceramic.
If if we see them too, they're real.
You sure You? Didn't bonk your head.
No, no, if we see them too, they're real.
I mean, I bunk my head all the time.
You'll find this is a little more common.
Box his. Head because it's I see them too
they're real if I. How do I know you're real?
(11:21):
Oh boy. Oh, Are you sure?
We see a minute go through this. That's OK, That's normal.
Let's leave it or it's normal. So I will say in the middle of
this chaos and out of the cornerof your eyes, as you're as
you're trying to deal with this chaos of who's real and who's
not, there's a quick flash of light from the group of spectral
(11:48):
assembly of people that are alsostanding by.
And you look over and please describe your care.
Yeah, so in the middle of all these people kind of gathered
together, you also see a anotherpuppet, but this time he's a bit
larger. He's like 5 foot 6, but yeah, so
(12:12):
he's a large puppet. But yeah, he's fully decked out
in like, a jesters outfit. He's got, like, the full mask
on. And, I mean, and the way that
he's moving his limbs is what gives away that he's a puppet
because normal human appendages or humanoid appendages wouldn't
be able to move in the way that they're moving.
(12:33):
And he's kind of just like, contorting himself into a bunch
of different, like, awkward positions.
And as he looks around the crowdand says, who wants to give me a
spin? Come on, Bongo.
Bingo. Bongo wants to play there.
We go putting on a show the. Rat normal that No, that's not
(12:56):
who says me. What's his, as you say?
Would I hear this going on? So bingo.
Boingo's head kind of does like a full 180.
So he's kind of like curled up into like a, you know, like the
bridge that people do. So his head is like sticking
through his legs now and he doeslike a full 180 to like turn and
(13:17):
look at you guys in your direction.
Did you say something about me? I did.
You're creepy. Oh, you bet I am.
Why don't you come play? I wouldn't say.
That it's a game. Oh, just any game.
I love playing all worth of games.
Name a game. Do you like cards?
Not. The cards Do I have cards?
(13:41):
Can we say that I have cards do?You have.
I have mysterious presence. Would I, would I, would I be
able to cast that on myself in order to like make everyone
(14:06):
because that decreases everyone's wisdom checks on me?
Would I be able to like cast that on myself to kind of like
no. It decreases inside.
Right. Yeah.
AD 4 or a -. 4 AD minus AD 4. If you cast that on yourself,
you're subtracting the before from.
Your own roles? No, From everyone else's roles
on me. To make it exciting, can.
(14:26):
We keep you as long as else is written.
Yeah, it's just an action if you.
Wanted. To OK, yeah.
So I'll do that things. To do I have to serve the?
Green Queen, You don't? Why?
Sorry, I don't actually have anycards.
I was just joking. I'm a big joker.
(14:50):
Call me a judge. I pull through my.
Cards. I pull my pocket back of cards.
Oh, I got cards. I was not expecting this.
How intriguing. How about?
We play on the train. You've got yourself a deal and
you see him kind of like crawl away back into the crowd, very
spider like with his head still between his legs.
(15:11):
That guy's. Real weird I'm.
Really proud I'm a bingo boy as bingo Boingo walks away in the
distance well go go ahead sorry complete please continue where
you're going to say well I didn't mean to cut you off I.
(15:33):
Said. Yeah, yeah.
I thought you were about to say something.
About sorry, go good. Don't do that.
So in the distance, as Bingo Bingo slowly crawls away in his
eerie and uncanny manner, I'll be in your dreams.
(16:02):
In his uncanny and and creepy manner, the haunting tune of a
lone fiddle pierces through the fog that surrounds you,
heralding the arrival of a spectral locomotive.
A dark steel train bathed in an eerie glow emerges from the
gloom on rails made of mist. It's smokestack belches plumes
of ghastly blue-green smoke thatwail with the faces and voices
(16:25):
of the damned. The locomotive rumbles, squeals
and creaks to a slow halt, and apassenger car looms directly
before you. Well, what's this you have to do
by context? To that.
(16:46):
Oh, that's a. Train.
I thought you were. Already in the train guys.
I'm in the small village. Me first.
So the train's not open to you yet.
As the train comes to rest. As the train comes to rest, a
(17:08):
small figure emerges from the passenger car and the source of
the fiddle music makes itself known to you.
A small frog folk dressed in tattered clothes and a tattered
top hat, almost like a railroad hobo carrying a fiddle carrying
(17:33):
a fiddle emerges. That's a guy right there from
the fog. Look at.
That guy. And here's what he kind of looks
like for our podcast listeners. I have a reference card with a
picture of of this on PC on it that I'm showing to my players.
Oh. Man, only the cameras are
working. I know that'd be great.
(17:54):
OK, we'll fix that. And as he steps out and the
fiddle music stops, all the bored all born.
I really expected his voice to be high tickets.
Please. Tickets please I thought I had
leap do you guys get? Tickets do we?
(18:17):
Get tickets Why do we have tickets?
Do you not have your tickets? And I need each character to
make a wisdom or actually a perception check.
Tries to board confidently and holds up about 100 fun tickets.
(18:40):
Well, I'm sorry friend, but it might be good and where we're
coming from originally, but those aren't no good here.
What we run on, we run on. Tickets here, so.
It was a ticket. Run tickets OH 13.
(19:14):
11. 12 So it didn't. So I think I heard this.
The lowest was 11. I wrote an 18.
So anyone so 11:12 and 12:00 and12:00, anybody get below 13
(19:37):
apart from them. So every character that
succeeded, which was was 1313 and above.
As you're cutting yourself down, wondering what, what what he's
talking about as a ticket, you feel in one of your pockets
something that wasn't there before, something odd and
(20:00):
different. You find an unfamiliar ticket.
It glows with a faint light everso gently in the moonlight.
It says admission for one to theGhost Light Express.
Hey got me a. Ticket like who did are we
(20:22):
playing the doll again? And you see this as as as you do
this, you see the spectral crowdkind of shuffles on on board the
train. Wait.
Who didn't get a ticket? Who?
Didn't find a ticket Asda and. Cotton.
Cotton just went limp and pretended to be a doll in his
arm. I'm.
Just going to tuck under my. Son, what are you doing to that
(20:44):
grown man? This thing, I've had this for
ages. How?
You thought? I just got to shake off.
I don't know why you think you're trying to fool me.
I know that's a grown man. He was just talking to me and he
has a ticket in his pocket. What?
(21:08):
And as he says this, you reach in your pocket and pull out a
spectral ticket. It was not there before.
Let's drop. Tickets please Step forward.
Tickets please. Hand over my ticket, walk in
last. You got your ticket?
I think so this thing that's going in my pocket, is that it?
They find. It yes, as he reaches in, there
was a ticket that was not there before.
(21:30):
Yeah. Yes, yeah.
So would it be fair to say that Bingo Boingo, since he already
kind of moved with the crowd as well, like all of this would
have happened at the same time, but he just like, crawled on
with like, the ticket in one of his hands, like 3 legs, kind of
like cobbling into the train. OK.
Yeah. So he's already in the train.
Vagrant looks at you with a justa look at just questioning for a
(21:54):
moment. Shake shakes his head, shakes
his head in disappointment and just goes back to his business.
Just let that demon on the train.
You made a deal with that. That's not a demon train.
He's. Not a demon, that's just another
friend born. He's just he's one of my people.
He's another friend born like that.
Looks like seems. Like you never learn how to
(22:15):
walk. I mean, it's not very common,
but I've seen one or two on their way coming from dreskin
vault. In the mortar world it's a
little. It's even more uncommon for
somebody like that to have been reborn so quickly.
Usually adult only happens in Dreskin Vault, but for some
reason with this group, I I can't tell you why, but there
seems to be some sort of fate swirling about.
(22:37):
You guys, are you crazy too? I'm the, they call, they call
me, they call me the Vagrant. When you say I'm the I'm the I'm
the stranger around these parts that runs the the ghost light
locomotive. So when you say fate that groups
us, are you including the weird Fred Barn thing?
(23:00):
Unfortunately, yes. Oh.
Goody. I don't know what, but there's
some sort of all people are friends that connects all of you
together understand it it's. Me.
No. I already took all the dark
(23:20):
bargains I can. I can't die.
If I die, I'm done. Now please step on board.
I have a timetable to keep. Tickets please.
Tickets please. Show my ticket as I pass on.
Yeah, we all like I gave. You single line go in put.
A hole. In it is, sorry, real question.
(23:41):
Real question. Before everyone else gets on the
train, is there a restroom in the Ghost Light Express?
In the cart that you step into immediately, No.
OK, OK. I was just curious and would
Bingo Bongo be able to like explore the cars or, you know,
(24:01):
I'll I'll just keep them. He'll just he'll find a seat and
make it make it simple. He'll behave himself for this
time, so. As you enter the as you enter
the passenger car. As you enter this passenger car,
it's about 9 feet tall with ceilings that are in case with
(24:22):
steel support beams flickering brass flickering brass lamps
illuminate each illuminate the train car, shedding bright light
throughout. There's a there are two doors on
either side of this on either side of this cart.
Correction there. There's one door on the far end
(24:43):
of this car, the one that you'recoming in from.
There's also an additional boarding door on the right side.
And I apologize as you as you sit down, you you notice that
(25:06):
the the ghostly crowd is also inthe past.
A few of the members from that ghostly crowd sit down with you
in this passenger car. As the ghostly forms, the
passengers appeared fade away randomly throughout the train
car when my apologies. All right, so the seats are just
(25:32):
regular almost tattered leather seats like Polar?
Express. Almost like Polar Express, a bit
more ghostly. A bit more ghostly.
As a polar stress was a Halloween movie.
And you all take your seats. If that was anyways you all take
(25:52):
you all take your seats. And you you notice just the
other passengers sitting about. And Arthur notices Bingo Boingo
sitting if you see a few in the row opposite didn't.
(26:15):
Promise a game. I got to sit down.
I'm just going to I'm just goingto point at Arthur, put a a
piece of of copper wire up to mymouth and cast message and just
start whispering to you in your head.
Oh, you think you're you think your thoughts are big shot,
(26:35):
don't you, buddy? Oh, you're never going to beat
me a Garth. I'm too good at this game.
I. Look around.
You don't see my mouth moving, do you buddy?
I'm in your head. I thought it would be in your
head. So for everybody, just paint a
better picture. The car is filled with two rows
of forward facing cracked leather seats with velvet
(26:56):
curtains, once wrench once rich in color hanging faded from the
windows. Slowly you feel the Go Side
express lurch as it begins to move forward with two short
blasts from the train whistle, followed by the screech of
wheels that sounds like the shrill note of a violin, then
(27:19):
percussed chugging of the locomotive.
Moments later begins view out ofthe windows on the other side of
the car obscures shifting green smoke swimming past the glass,
completely veiling the round beyond.
The ghostly passengers riding among you peacefully sit sit on
the tattered remains of the oncelavish upholstery.
(27:40):
They simply look forward or out the windows with empty eyes,
ready to meet whatever comes next.
None of them seem to be carryingany baggage.
It's. All emotional.
We all have that. I'm saying he's taunting me as
(28:00):
baggage. In your head.
Actually in my head. He's screwing up in my head.
I fiddle around with a bit of police in my pocket and what
appears in front of his face is his ugly face looking back at
him as I got to my illusion. Indeed.
(28:23):
You hear the crackle of a of what sounds like an intercom
come from come from the ceiling as the voice of the vagrant
comes across. Well hi there folks, it's the
vagrant. Just a couple of quick rules for
you guys so that we can all makeit to to dress the ball safely
soundly. What please, if you could remain
(28:48):
seated in the inner seats, do not open the windows, please.
It'll be a very bad day for a very bad day for everybody if
those windows open. I look at as he says.
I look at bingo. Boingo.
Yeah. Bingo.
Boingo has his arms already like, towards the window.
Oh, don't worry, that's just a little joke.
(29:09):
I. Hope so.
Mr. Clown Man, I'm looking at you.
Sorry Sir, won't happen again maybe.
Now for you, just so you guys are aware, the, the Lord and the
Lady of the realm, Philip and Adela Dreskinvald are also
(29:29):
passengers aboard this evening. So they're, they're, they're
also aboard. They're very kind, very, very
honorable people. So I'm sure if you chose to go
and conversate with them they wouldn't mind the the company,
but otherwise just sit back and relax and enjoy your ride to
(29:52):
dress the ball folks. Oh wow, I had no idea they'd be
on this train. So are you guys also sitting I
guess like in the in the chairs adjacent to the one that Arthur
and I? Are very specifically.
Not making one or. Two, OK, yeah.
(30:12):
Is there mechanics of playing cards in DD?
I think there is, but it would we we would just do essentially.
A roll off. Yeah, roll off.
And we'd probably not like a luxstat per SE, so we'd probably
(30:34):
just go off charisma. Oh sweet.
Perfect. I'd.
Be OK 01 more thing folks. One more thing I forgot to
mention. So as you move about the train
cars, just be aware that we havea few more long term passengers
aboard the car spirits that justdue to the baggage and they're,
(30:56):
they're unresolved business justaren't quite able to move on
just yet. I wish there was more I could do
for those poor folk, but I don'tparticularly mind them hanging
about either. Is it?
Like before. Like what before?
We got hard. What you do well?
(31:17):
Before Oh, Aaron. Better go for your.
Sake, OH. Yeah.
So the and and with that the theintercom crackles off.
(31:40):
All righty, let's play this game, shall we?
Start with What's flapjack called D&D Or not black what's
What's a black one? Blackjack.
What's blackjack called? I just shall just blackjack.
I dish out cards with blackjack.OK, so as he's dishing out
(32:00):
cards, I'm going to go ahead andcast Mysterious Presence again
on myself. It lasts for a minute and then
as we start playing the game I would like to cast Guidance on
myself as a bonus action. That's guidance as an action
that you can. Catch is it?
Oh yeah, it is an action. Sorry, we're not.
(32:20):
Doesn't really matter. If I can cast it as an action
while we're while we're playing to get myself a little advantage
you. You knew you knew going into
this that you plan, you plan to play to win.
Oh yeah. So you definitely ahead of time
would cast this with the foreknowledge of of knowing that
you would want this for the for this.
Game. Oh yeah, for sure.
(32:41):
All right, so we just like Charisma checking it up, yes.
Please. Is there anything in particular
like performance? Just straight.
Just straight, OK, a natural 20 natural one.
So. First Natural 20 of the
(33:02):
campaign. So Arthur, as as you get your
cards, for some reason you notice that you just have a
handful of jokers for some rightnow.
Don't. Forget to take these out, no.
I went with that due to the factthat you already agreed that
this was a play that the scam was valid.
(33:24):
Being a Boingo wins this round. Playing.
Silly, silly. What are you, so many jokers?
I don't know. I checked my hearts are.
There more than jokers than usual.
No, I. Forgot to take that out.
Their play are the. Other practicers that are all
paying attention to this or are we having our own side
conversation? This is basically their own your
(33:45):
own side conversation as that like as I described, they're
just glancing out the window or looking ahead, not really paying
you much money I need. To figure out the cartridge, the
gambler, you know, because I don't know.
So I can't do something. Are you guys doing anything?
I'm not doing anything in particular.
I'm just sitting waiting to get to where I'm going, traveling on
(34:07):
business. I'm sitting backwards in my
chair like leaning over looking at you guys like.
Yeah, I'm like keeping track of what's going on, but not like.
No, no, no. This is interesting.
I want to see what's going. On I think this is OK.
I think it's fine. We don't.
I didn't even hear what the compsaid.
I'll just focus on this creepy thing about me.
(34:28):
I say that in real life and. Yeah, all the all the while like
this card game is going on bingo.
Boingo is just kind of like liketwisting his arms like 360 like
hold holding the cards in different ways, like trying to
like confuse you and get in yourhead, Do you?
Have to train that flexibility or were you born that way?
(34:52):
I don't know. I've just always been able to do
it. It's pretty simple really.
She see if you give me your arms, I can show you.
I'm moving his arms around like I am made of.
Flesh and down the catch string.Had this the whole.
Town. Oh but flesh and bone is so
interesting, I agree on that. Goodness.
(35:16):
So while this is going on, do you guys do do any of the other
party members do anything? Oh, I'm very specifically not
interacting with this. Would you had mentioned that
there was some like VIP guest, right?
Maybe while they're doing that, maybe I also says to Althea,
(35:40):
hey, there's some new friends that seem like they're pretty
high up, we should go say them and say hi, do.
You think I'm OK to talk to somebody?
OK, well maybe was ask Cotton and Rouse.
They seem like fun cotton. Was that?
Great, and Rouse I. Think cotton.
(36:00):
Oh no, I could never. Why not?
He's he's the Lord of dress cumball.
Well. And who's that?
He's. In charge of the.
Whole. Realm OK, great I.
Couldn't go talk to him. For a reason.
So he sounds like the best friend we could ever have,
right? He's thinking you don't burst
into flames. We can't promise.
(36:22):
That I can put myself out, that I wouldn't hate to see.
As this is going on, would Arthur and Bingo Boingo be able
to make their way over to them having this conversation?
Yeah. OK.
If if you guys are done with your card game.
(36:42):
Yeah, No, I would say that BingoBoingo decisively defeated
Arthur. Yeah, I.
Forgot to take out the jokers. New cards.
New cards haven't played in a while.
Why did you even? Agree to play.
Oh, aren't you just the three little?
Thing. Hey friend.
Oh, you're just so tiny and so vulnerable.
(37:07):
Let's just keep it. Good distance.
If I had saliva, I'd be foaming at the mouth.
I don't. Like baby baby.
I was made for a different purpose.
Oh, you were made me. Not to believe.
(37:28):
Why not? Because.
I. Wasn't there?
Why not? I was somewhere else.
How old are you? What's very old as you guys as
you guys are having this conversation and you're
discussing moving on One one passenger among the blankly
(37:50):
staring spirits stirs seems to dark into an inky shadow as it
darts into the aisle. It's humanoid silhouette, tall
and gaunt, with a head tilted toone side and an unnatural angle.
Crooked tendril shootout from itlike gnarled tree branches that
shatter the windows of the car. Ghastly mist spills in around
(38:15):
Ghastly mist spills in around you.
Once the passenger spirits let out, 1/2 of the passenger
spirits let out a pained whale, then take on the malevolent.
A malevolent form with a huge maw, blocky teeth, a single eye
in its head, and two smaller eyes with in the palms of its
(38:35):
spindly of their spindly hands. A shrill train whistle
reverberates around you as the windows suddenly repair
themselves. The voice of the vagrant emerges
from the ceiling, muffled and crackling.
Could you all take care of that? This ain't happened before.
And I'm a fiddler. Not really a father, aren't.
You. Old and with that I will need an
(38:58):
initiative role from. Everyone, I think towards that.
Oh. First initiative role The
campaign. And here's our battle map.
Can I? No.
Oh, is it just the square? Yeah, don't erase.
What? Yeah.
Try not to erase. Just the square a little.
(39:19):
More like. Hold on, 5th will be bingo,
you're all. AD 20.
No, I did that. You're Oh no.
Twins. Yeah, I.
(39:40):
Don't typically want to go firstas a rogue but you roll.
Would you roll A3? No, that sucks.
How do you roll? A three.
Well, I rolled a 3. It's actually 6.
You actually just sit back down. But yeah, now.
(40:04):
First thing I do is look over upin the ball and I'll make sure
you're just so dejected from thecurtain.
And it's not my little friend either.
Unfortunate. Oh, I have many friends.
Well, actually. Just do.
Just two friends. I just forgot.
(40:25):
Are they inside of your heads you have got?
Very. One offenders.
No, I get one if I got it. Totally.
They're old at 60. They're real.
They're all real, yeah. Is it yourself?
Whatever your dex modifier is that.
No. Maybe.
(40:46):
I want to see your blood spill. And.
I want to drink it. He's crazy.
Fight this thing, all right? Are we going to, are we going to
put our stuff on the battle map?Yeah, so here, go ahead and pick
(41:06):
out tokens for yourselves. Nice.
And pick out three. Pick out three enemy tokens as
well. Do we need to tell you what we
got? Yes, I'm getting ready to take
it right. So did anybody get above a 20?
Anyone above a 20? Anybody above 17?
(41:33):
I got 18, I got a dirty 20. 17 or 17 or better?
Besides Asta and Ross, anybody better than 16 10?
(41:55):
13. For real, anybody better than an
8 766? 6.
Both of you are so Oh, you want a six two?
Yeah, roll one more time with two of you all.
Right, you want to get just Dexterity.
(42:18):
What? Just a straight roll, yeah.
13/9. Can I just pick to go second?
Can. You please just do it based on
next time. And then?
7. What did you get?
(42:41):
Did I miss anybody? Cool.
All right, Austin, you're quick to react that you're you're
you're already up, you're already getting ready to go.
And so you're just ready for this?
Yeah, sorry, I'm just strugglingto see what's on these.
Oh, OK, let. Me, come over here.
Do we have the enemy tokens picked?
(43:01):
I got my token and then where's each of us with this pick 3?
Well, I just got 333 enemy tokens.
Pick three random monster tokens. 1 That looks like a
monster. 2 Let's go with this for three.
(43:23):
And put put an S on one of them or or just designate one to be
different from the other two. This one because it has wings.
So that one has wings. So yeah, I picked one that looks
like a Batman or Man Bat technically as they appear.
(43:47):
I picked a token that looks likeit's.
Cool. And then I picked the last one
is like a skeleton. Actually, could you do me a
favor and turn on that light? Oh, can.
We devolve that a couple times. Better warning one.
Should I undo like the field? Yeah.
Oh guess what, this one's a demon looking thing.
(44:07):
I can see better. Is there mail clearing?
I chose this guy with the red swords.
We have like these. Are the creatures that is?
No, no, we didn't change at all.I'm whatever this thing because
he's got a stick. So oh, sorry.
And this guy I'm. Sorry, I didn't mean to grab my
(44:28):
phone but like I was like I can't see that.
Hey, where are you? He he's, I got one with the guy
with a stick, yeah. Oh, oh, I just broke one.
I'm so that's the bad guy. No, the bad guy it'll.
Be fine, just put it back in theoh, you don't need it.
Do we have our characters and then where are our monsters
(44:57):
right here. So that's going to be our one
that's different. And then these two are going to
be the passengers that ended up getting this was the the guy
that got up in the thing and didthe thing with the tendrils
(45:24):
monk. Perfect, I picked the right one.
I picked wizard, but that's why one. 100 close enough.
That sounds fine. This works.
Everything's all good. Where's Bingo Blingo?
Right here, right here. So I would be I.
Would be right. I would be right next to.
Because you guys walked up. Right.
(45:44):
You'd be in the aisle, yeah. I like this.
All right, just put that little thing.
All right, so acid again, you are the you're already up,
you're ready to go. You're trying to get everywhere
and move on to the next car. So you're already ready for
action. And so automatically when this
(46:05):
happens, you're in an instant when you hear the beggar ask you
to help out with this, you're already ready to go.
Let's go, guys. Let's get this together.
It's. OK, cool.
He's going to die. I'm going to go.
Sorry. You just seen the roles
yesterday. It was ridiculous.
(46:26):
Like bad or ridiculously good? Bad.
And then when I wasn't my turn, I was doing great.
Let's hope it's different. This.
Yeah, it was. It was so far.
Let's go, Jeffrey. We'll call that dice Jeffrey.
OK OK, so I'm gonna roll to see if I can hit because I mean go
for an attack so. What?
What kind of attack are you trying to?
(46:47):
Do. Oh yeah.
So I'm gonna do, I'm gonna use my long sword and go for.
That's just slashing. Yeah, it's slashing because
that's because I put it in arrowbetween the two.
(47:12):
15 Which one are you trying to hit?
Whatever's I guess closest. What do you have the map right?
There. Oh, yeah.
But so like, I thought these twowere passengers.
Yeah, but they got turned. I didn't.
I didn't catch. That they got turned into these
monsters. I'm gonna go for the I'm gonna
go for the one in the middle of the of the three of them.
(47:34):
So just to re to reiterate, yeah, the one in the center has
darkened to it with inky shadows.
Yep. Has unnatural tendrils in its
head, tilt and an angle. Yep, unnatural.
Yeah, the other two. The two passengers now have a
(47:55):
malevolent form with huge maws of blocky teeth, single eyes in
their head, 2 smaller eyes in the palms of their spindly
hands. Good SO.
Just to repaint the picture for you.
Yeah, yeah, I'm going for the one in the middle of the dark
figure again. I don't know.
(48:19):
So then I need to roll AD to seewhat I what do I hit I guess.
So which one are you going for? The the dark figure.
The one in the middle, yeah, I'mgoing to double check AC.
Do I have the? 15 to the 15 you hit.
(48:43):
OK, OK. So I'm going to roll.
Well, I'm using both hands, so I'm actually any role in D10 for
that. Yeah, versatile.
In both hands, 2 is what I roll and then because I have type
(49:03):
bonus, do I add 4 to that right? Are you willing to hit?
Roll to hit so. Damage.
Damage is just two D6 plus. No, no, I'm doing my long sword.
Oh, long swords would be 1D8. Or I did the two handed.
Two hands would be 1D10 plus whatever your strength.
Is oh plus my strength so 2. So then I got a 4A4.
(49:25):
All right. And that's slashing damage.
Yes. OK.
All right. Is that going to be your turn
or? All right, Ross, you're up.
(49:46):
I walk up closer to the the angry monster and I pulled out
my Lantern as a holy symbol. This one.
No, that one on the outside. This one, yeah.
So 5/10/15. That's happening within 30 feet
because I'm going to use my TurnUndead.
So he has to make a Wisdom saving throw, OK.
(50:06):
Is he undead? Which one?
The wait, hold on, hold on. I could do each undead of my
choice. So Channel Divinity.
Yeah, Channel Divinity. So I'm going to do all three of
them actually. OK, so they all think need to
make a Wisdom saving throw, Yeah?
It's ADC of 12. When do we get that back?
(50:29):
After a long run. Yeah, I think so.
And it's wisdom saving theory, yes.
Yes. All right, so the the one on the
(50:50):
right well, so the one on your left is you're facing it seems
unfazed. It it it takes a look at your
only entry for a minute and kindof winces, but it seems like
it's going to power through. The other two seem like it it
takes effect. Perfect.
So. So they have the frightened and
incapacitated conditions for a minute.
(51:12):
OK. And they must try to move as far
from me as I can on its terms. And it ends if it takes any
damage, yeah, or if I have any incapacitated.
Conditions. It ends if they take damage.
Yeah. So basically it's, yeah,
frightened and incapacitated. Got trying to run away making
(51:32):
sure. Is there a visible difference in
whether or not they're afraid like the two that are?
So I would I would say that theythey see this Lantern and they
draws concern on their face as they shriek back.
Was that? Yeah.
So they almost like. In the almost.
(51:54):
Like the first one where it wentbut it's more more pronounced
they they went a little harder as they draw back and begin to
move away from. You and this one is not
affected, correct? Yep, that one is not affected.
That's it. OK.
And now it's going to be shadowsturn and it has to move away
from you. So the ghastly passenger will
(52:21):
will of course move away. It's got a movement speed of it
goes into the next curve. 40. Feet 40.
(52:45):
Feet as a movement speed of 40. Feet.
Oh my goodness. But it's going to end at the.
Someone open the window. I mean, it's going to end at the
end of the car, Yeah. It's just going to mindlessly
run into the wall. Just be like no, so that was for
the the one in the middle. I mean, so the one in the middle
moves all the way to the back one on the the other one, the
(53:10):
passenger that got transformed after the windows broke.
He has a speed of 50 feet, so he'll also be. 50 feet.
Oh my. God, they're at the back.
Do they run into each other? They're not like.
No. They just curious.
They can choose their path. Just curious.
(53:31):
All right, and with that, bingo Boingo, it's going to be your
turn. Oh yeah, so the one, the
passenger that's running away and looks terrified, Bingo.
(53:51):
Boingo is going to kind of like extend his fake plastic tongue
and like, it's just going to like scrape against his face and
not make like a licking noise. But he's going to do that and
he's going to look at it. He looks so vulnerable, and he's
going to point at it and cast blood Bolt.
(54:13):
So it's a cantrip spell attack. But.
Oh, come on, 777. Does not hit.
OK, yeah, so he he takes his Mace and he kind of like cuts
along his arm and you see like these strings begin to like
(54:34):
these red strings begin to come out as he like places both of
his hands up and and launches ittowards the creature, but it
goes a bit wide. Yeah, that happens.
Was that going to end your turn?Yeah, that'll be my turn.
(54:56):
Cotton, cotton grills. It's you're up, cotton's up,
you're on deck. And after cotton, it's going to
be ace. It's angry.
OK, Nobody got yes, I was like, sorry for our podcast listeners
at home. Trevor's character of Arthur's
went through a couple of renditions.
So I apologize on my part. OK, so Cotton is going to
(55:18):
probably have to stand on the seat so he can see over the
seat. Yeah.
And he's going to cast toll the dead by pointing at, I'm going
to point at the the one that's closest to me and directly in my
line of sight, the the passengeron the left.
(55:39):
And I'm going to zoom in so I can read this tiny note, so I
know a Bell's going to sound an ominous bell.
Like, sorry, I tried to print it.
(56:04):
It didn't sound of a dole or a spell fills the air around it
for a moment. The target must succeed on a
Wisdom saving throw or take 1-DAnecrotic.
If it's missing any hit points, which is not, it would take
1P12. What's the DC that my wisdom
(56:25):
your spell? Safety.
So you should have do. You have a spell sheet, so you
rolled you rolled the 13. So I don't know, I'm sorry.
How dare you. I'm still new.
There's my spell sheet. What's your wisdom?
My wisdom is loading because every time I change pages it
gets angry. Yeah.
(56:46):
What is the +2 score 15? OK, so you'd fail.
This section. And how much damage does that do
on a fail 1D8? Let's go ahead and roll damage
for chronic damage, so. When?
(57:07):
He asked that I just say that number right there.
And will that end your turn? That ends my turn.
So as you, as you do this, you see the belt hole in it.
You can see it becomes a little angry for a moment, but
otherwise it seems almost unpazed.
(57:30):
That makes sense. With that, Arthur, I would say
you, you, you remember from yourtime in the crossroad, this
looks almost similar to those same creatures that you that you
fought in the Crossroads earlier, but you are up on deck.
(57:54):
What do you do? Well I have my cigar in my mouth
and I was going to do something but look at this one that comes
to my face and realizes these are the same things and my sigh.
I wish these things would have blood and I bolt 30 feet to jump
onto a chair and take my short sword and basically run it
through into the into the seat move my short sword.
(58:16):
I'm guy have a short sword and aseparate tire out so I move my
30 feet. I'm basically standing right in
front of it. So are you trying to pin it to
the? Seat, I'm just attacking it.
It's just flavor. OK.
Just making sure. So I go ahead and roll Short
Sword. Oh he literally has a sound. 16
(58:40):
at it. And you're going through the one
in the seats 16. Hits all right.
Have to. 4 79 piercing damage. 9piercing damage.
(59:11):
All right, yeah, you do that. It looks like it kind of shakes
it off for a moment, but you cantell that your head, your head
definitely landed and they definitely, it definitely felt
that. I in a sort of a breathy voice
like you guys are so annoying asI rake my scimitar across this
road with my second nick attack.OK.
(59:39):
Another 16 minutes. And.
That is just. Only one.
For our podcast listeners at home.
(01:00:05):
Cotton has just decided to open a whole case of coffee cake
muffins. Quite viciously.
Quite vicious and that would be the background classic that
would be the classic background rustling noise that you just
heard it's. So ridiculous.
It's OK, it happens in my campaign too.
Like like the 1st 10 minutes someone opens up like a bag of
(01:00:25):
chips like right next every time.
It's funny. So you know it's a new, you know
it's a new session. Yeah, be like, oh, this is where
you started? This is a reminder for the
listeners to also get his neck. Let's all go to the lab.
All right. And with that cotton ear, or as
(01:00:52):
I was, Althea, you're on that all right.
I jump across the seats as I seeArthur in action 4 actors action
enacting my Stinger, drawing it back and piercing it into its
neck. OK.
Roll the head. Thank you for listening to this
