Gratitude doesn’t have to be grand to be real. We open our Thankful Sunday by naming the people who make this show possible—Chrissy’s quick wit, DJ Nick’s sharp edits, Kerry's ongoing laugh trac, and Farm Boy Jim’s steady support that keeps our energy up even off-mic. From first test recordings to our 67th episode, we trace how a small idea became a growing community across 12 countries and 196 cities, and why the numbers matter only because the people behind them do.

right?

CHRISY (00:48):
Well, we've it's been in the workings longer.
Yes.
But uh the actual putting itall together, yes.

KERRY (00:56):
It was about this time last year that we started doing
our test recordings and gettingready to release our podcast in
November.
So crazy.
I know.
So I am very thankful for bothof you.
Uh Chrissy, for your wit, yourhumor.
You always keep me laughing.
You always catch me off guard.
I love it.

CHRISY (01:14):
I live for that.

KERRY (01:15):
And DJ Nick, your editing skills and your I can't
remember the name of theGoogling that's not Google now.
What is it again?
Gemini.
Gemini.
Your Gemini skills.

CHRISY (01:26):
Yes.
I actually sat and watched Nickdo some editing.
Yeah.
I lasted about five, not eventen minutes.
And I admired him more than Ialready do.
So I know.

KERRY (01:37):
We know it's a lot of work, so thank you very much for
all that you do.
Thank you.
And for Farm Boy Jim, thankyou.
I know you're not often here inthe studio with us, but you are
an ever-present support to usall.
You know, I love hearing yourfeedback.
And what I love most is FarmBoy Jim's not a dancer at all.
But the one thing that gets hima moving into grooving is when

(02:01):
he hears our intro and outromusic.
Nice.
He always will start doing alittle, a little j a little
jing.
A little jing.
And I just it makes me smileevery time.
One of these times I'm gonnacatch it on film because it's
just the cutest.
That'll be great.
Anyway, so thank you.

CHRISY (02:15):
What else have we got to be thankful about, Chrissy?
Well, we have so many things.
Yes.
But the one thing I always lookforward to announcing is our
new cities.
We have a good handful plus ofnew cities that have joined our
family.
Yes.
Uh so we have Shawnee, Kansas.

KERRY (02:34):
Our Kansas crew is going.
We're starting to see more andmore from that area.
Nice.

CHRISY (02:38):
Yeah, we love it.
Thank you.
And we have Orland Park,Illinois.
Interesting.
Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Where's that?

KERRY (02:47):
Oh, it is?
Okay, it's south.

DJ NICK (02:49):
Oh, awesome.
I think it's east.

KERRY (02:51):
Okay, but it's in the Columbus area.

DJ NICK (02:53):
North.
Yeah, I think it's a north,northeast to eastern.

KERRY (02:56):
Maybe that was one from our dog fest.
Could be.
Could be.
Yay.
Thank you, thank you.
Thank you.
Yeah.

CHRISY (03:01):
East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Nice.
And Jonesboro, Georgia.
Yeah.

KERRY (03:07):
We are getting a little crew in Georgia listening to us
too.
There's a couple cities inGeorgia.
So awesome.
Yes.
Yeah, so that makes us rightnow.
We're at 12 countries.
We're at 196 cities and aboutthree, well, we're probably over
3,000 downloads now.
And that we're on our 67thepisode.

(03:27):
So we're pretty excited atthose stats.
So thank you all for being partof that.
Yes.
And I do have to say, for thoseof you that have decided to
support us and do a monthlydonation, thank you.
We are really, really areappreciative.
In fact, I think we have some alittle bit of swag that we're
going to be sending out yourway.
I had just recently got someextra things for our events that

(03:50):
we've been at, and we're goingto be sending those out to those
of you that have beensupporting us with your monetary
dollars.
If you would like to do that, all you have to do is go to our
podcast website page,dysfunction junkiespodcast.com,
and you can click on thatsupport to help keep this coming
at you, also.
Yes.

CHRISY (04:08):
And uh as we get more and more into late fall and into
I hate to say it.
What?
Winter.
Sorry.
Hopefully we can have somereally some new great swag, as
you put it that will help keepyou warm.
So we're looking into that too.

KERRY (04:26):
Yes, we are really need to start working on that
merchandise section where peoplecan purchase merchandise.
Because we do have some reallycool t-shirts and things like
that.
And we're just trying to find away of how to get that in
process in out to you guys asexpeditiously as possible.
So we're working on that.
Yes, we are.
Yes.
I also do want to give a shoutout to the marketing firm that

(04:47):
we have been working with,Instant WebMakers out of
California.
They've been helping us withour website design, they've also
been helping us with some ofour social media.
So we are very grateful forthem and all that they've done
to help us out this past year.
So again, thank you, you guys, there for Ben, especially.
He's the main guy we work withthere.
So thank you so much for all ofyour help.

(05:08):
Yes, thank you.
Let's see, what else do we haveto be thankful about?
Oh my gosh, in September we hadour Junkies Care initiative
where we were supporting K9Companions.
We had a fabulous event on aSunday in December.
Oh my gosh.
September.
Yes, I know.
So you mentioned winner.
We were out there supportingthem for their dog fest.

(05:32):
So we want to thank everyonewho supported us, supported K9
Companions.
We were raising funds for them.
We've had donations on ourfundraiser page for that.
So thank you all who donatedfor that and who helped support
the show and helped supported K9Companions.

CHRISY (05:46):
Yes, thank you.
Fantastic organization.

KERRY (05:49):
Absolutely.
Let's see, what's else on ourlist here, Chrissy?

CHRISY (05:52):
Uh, let's maybe just get off course a little bit, but
thankful I came across this onthe somehow.
So I found it fascinating.
There used to be a doll.
Oh yes! The doll.
The doll.

KERRY (06:05):
This is like so weird, but this is uh this is it's it's
almost like psychic almost.

CHRISY (06:12):
Almost.
It's uh premonitioning.
So there you go in the 70s.
There was a doll.
It was the Chrissy doll.
Yes.
And uh Chrissy doll's haircould grow long, or you could
get it to be short again, and uhit was a brown-haired brunette
doll.
Yes, and I was looking into ita little bit more, and the other

(06:35):
bizarre fact was that theChrissy had a friend.
Did she?
A doll, and her friend's namewas Carrie, and it was spelled
correctly.
It was, yeah, the Chrissy doll,uh, although it is Chrissy.
Yes, it's uh C-R-I-S-S-Y, Ibelieve.
And I'm C-H-R-I-S-Y.
Not a big deal, it's stillChrissy.
Yeah, but Carrie was exactlythe way you spell your Carrie,

(06:56):
unreal.
And the other thing was is likeit was from the year we were
born.
No 1972.
Oh my gosh.
And the other weird thing,Chrissy, I told you was a
brunette.
Yes.
Carrie was a blonde.
Woo! We need to post a pictureof it.

KERRY (07:12):
We have to, yes.
And we need to find them.
Yeah.
We need, I think we need aChrissy and Carrie doll in the
studio.
I think we do.
We really do.

CHRISY (07:20):
It's like well, then the doll thing gets a little weird,
but it's a little creepy.
Don't throw a sheet over it,leave it in the corner.
We're freaked out.

DJ NICK (07:31):
Well, if you find a Nicki doll, you do not buy it.
Oh, we need to look at it.

KERRY (07:35):
DJ Nick doll.
Oh, did the Chrissy and Carriedoll have a friend, a Nick and
Jim doll?
We can make our own.
Yeah, we could.
I know that was really weird.

CHRISY (07:49):
I thought it was crazy.
I couldn't believe it.
Yeah, I actually discoveredthis while we were driving to
see you and Jim.
I was on the phone looking intoit.
And I was like, I have to textyou this.
I don't care.

KERRY (08:00):
Is that when you guys came over for Farmboard Jim's
party?
Yes.
Yeah.
Uh-huh.

CHRISY (08:05):
And I was just so yeah, uh, anybody who out there who
maybe is listening and had aChrissy or Carrie doll, we would
love to hear from you.

KERRY (08:14):
Yes.
And is your doll up for sale?

CHRISY (08:16):
Yeah.
We're gonna have to do the eBayor what what are the other uh
sites where you can FacebookMarketplace?

KERRY (08:25):
Is Craigslist still a thing?
I don't know.
Is that even a thing anymore?

CHRISY (08:29):
Is Etsy a site where you find things like this or no?

KERRY (08:32):
Etsy's usually people making things.
Like it's more, I mean, I guesspeople could resale old stuff
there, but usually Etsy is likepeople making things.
Oh, okay.
I'm an Etsy shopper.
I I do like to support Etsy.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, in fact, one time Iordered a dog collar, a leather
dog collar for our dog.
I ended up, I didn't realizewhen I ordered it, it was from
somebody in I forget whatcountry, but it was Germany or

(08:53):
Switzerland or something likethat.
And my my postal worker came tothe house and he was like, uh,
you have a package fromSwitzerland, you know?
And I'm like, what?
And then I realized, oh, that'smy Etsy thing, that the
handmade dog collar.

CHRISY (09:07):
I didn't know I have to go check that out.
I hate to say it.
I've never really looked atthat.

KERRY (09:12):
Oh yeah, you go down a rabbit hole on that one.
Oh boy.
Maybe I shouldn't.
So Nick says no.
Nick says no.
Yes, I am thankful for Etsy.

CHRISY (09:22):
Okay.
Wonderful.

KERRY (09:24):
Yes, so we've had a lot.
And then I we started uh doingthe blog on the on the website.
So I have my blog on there.
So I'm really thankful forthose that have been uh reading
the blog.
Chrissy's getting hers going,so soon we'll have more thoughts
from Chrissy on on the blog.
Whether you like it or not.
So it's been a lot to bethankful for.

(09:46):
So we always like to take a fewmoments out to recognize those
things that we're thankful for.
Now it is not too late.
If you want to meet us, we aregoing to be in downtown historic
Worcester.
I love saying that.
This is so fun to say.
Saturday, October 25th.
We are going to be supportingthe United Way of Wayne and

(10:07):
Holmes counties, and they arehaving their heart and ghoul 5K
and one mile spooky sprint.
And then there's gonna be amuddy monster bash at Muddy's
afterwards.
We're sponsoring uh one of thesponsors for the race.
Who knows?
Chrissy and I might show up asthe Carrie and Chrissy dolls.
Yeah, we've been playing aroundwith that idea.
Yeah, we'll see.
We'll see what we do.

(10:28):
But we are thankful foreverything that the United Way
does to help people in thecommunity, supporting different
organizations that they thatthey help, such as the Dolly
Part and Imagination Library, they support a severe weather
shelter, they support YMCA,Salvation Army, Goodwill, Boys
and Girls Club, and so much morein the Worcester area.

(10:48):
So we are thankful for them andall that they do, and we are
very grateful to be able topartner with them this month for
our Junkies Care initiative.
Absolutely.
All right, everybody.
Well, we hope to see you all onthe 25th.
If not, you know where to findus next week.
Bye bye.
