We can start with that music.
Okay, we can start with that.
We can start with that.
So, alrighty Well, every month,we like to come with a thankful
episode where we can talk aboutthe things we're thankful for,
both on the show, maybe in ourlife, and we'll also give you
some teasers on what's going tohappen in future episodes.

Chrisy (00:55):
Yes.

Kerry (00:56):
So let's start off with locations.

Chrisy (01:00):
Yes, we're still growing out there.
Thank you, we are growing.
Chrissy, go, we have somewonderful new areas.
Debaree Florida, something likethat, yeah, debaree Florida,

Mumbai, yes, india, we got another country, we so,
thank you, we're excited andthankful that pakistan is one
percent of our viewing now, orlistening, or listening yeah,
viewing, listening, viewingeventually maybe, yeah, we need
to do that pakistan's apparentlystill loving us.

(01:43):
So thank you, and I'm still wantto hear from you guys.
I want to know who's listeningto us in Pakistan and India, and
I mean everywhere.
I want to hear all over theUnited States, but I just this
across the across the drink, across the water there.
I'm just curious on how'd youfind us?
Who's listening?
Is it a male?
Is it a female?

(02:04):
Is it Americans livinglistening?
Is it a male?
Is it a female?
Is it Americans living abroad?
Is it you know?
Dysfunctionjunkies at gmailcom.
Let us know.

Chrisy (02:10):
Yes, let us know.
Also, we may teaser here, havea call in from somebody who's
been a fairly significant partof the show Fingers slash,
nataliealie yes we are workingon getting her to call in and

(02:30):
give us a check-in and, uh, geta chance to talk with her, and
I'm not sure if she would maybe, down the road, eventually make
it into the studio, but we couldprobably definitely work in a
call-in first.
So, yes, we're hoping to makethat happen.

Kerry (02:43):
Yes, we are doing some upgrades here to the Dysfunction
Junkies podcast and we are onelooking at upgrading the
equipment so we can do thesetype of things, but we also have
updated our website.
So our marketing company thatI've been working with out of
California they've been helpingus to revamp on our new website,
which isdysfunctionjunkiespodcastcom,

(03:07):
and so I'm very thankful forthem for everything they've done
to help us get this website upand running.
It is the one-stop shop for thepodcast.
You can see our episodes.
We're going to start doing ablog, Hopefully in the near
future, have some merchandiseevents calendar.
So, Chrissy, why don't we talkabout some of the events that
we're going to be helping with?
We're thankful for.

Chrisy (03:27):
Well, the Ursuline Alumni Golf Outing yes, and
Canine.
Companions, which verywonderful organization Ursuline
Alumni, which is us.
Yes, we love supporting thatand their causes Golf outings.
I'm really excited about somefuture events that we can help

(03:49):
with because they really, like Isaid I said in the past, they
have a very strong alumni baseand they are very much involved
in helping future students, yes,who are going to come into the
school and have a an experience,a wonderful experience, with
Catholic education in theYoungstown area.

Kerry (04:07):
So that's right.
So we released junkies careinitiative, which is community
awareness, recognition andeducation.
We did that just a few days ago.
That's going to be every monthon the first of the month is
junkies care.
We're starting off bysupporting our Ursuline alumni
through the Don Foley golfouting.
Now that golf outing isactually coming up, it's on the

(04:28):
Monday, august 18th.
It's at the Youngstown CountryClub.
So we're starting local, butthen we're going to go national
because we're going to supportthe Canine Companions
organization, nationalorganization that supports or
provides service dogs to peoplewith disabilities free of charge
.
We're going to be at the DogFest event in New Albany, ohio,
at the North Central TrainingCenter.
That'll be on Sunday, september21st, and you can find

(04:52):
information about all of thesethings on our website.
We'll have links to everything.

Chrisy (04:57):
So, yeah, we're very thankful that we're going to be
starting this initiative and,you know, supporting both the
communities here locally andabroad initiative and, you know,
supporting both the communitieshere locally and abroad, and I
think if you have anorganization that you feel
strongly about, that you wouldlike us to recognize and help
promote and support for goodcause.
Please let us know.
We would be very happy to knowwhat our listeners, our junkies,

(05:20):
what is important to you.

Kerry (05:23):
Yes, yes.
So please send us thatinformation.
You can send it to us on ourFacebook page, you can email it
to us, but we want to hear fromyou too.
So when we're looking at futureorganizations, yes, so one of
the things I want to be thankfulfor and I need to give some
shout outs because, you know, june I did some traveling and we
never got to talk about some ofmy travels.

(05:45):
But, you know, one of the newcountries that we have is also
Jamaica.
Yeah, so in addition to India,we got Jamaica, and that was
partly because Jim and I went onvacation with our friends
Heather and Andrew.
We went to Jamaica.
It was a fabulous week.
We love Jamaica.
I tell you what the peoplethere are amazing.

(06:05):
They're just so genuine and sosweet and so kind and laid back.
It's it's nice, it's so nice togo there for vacation.
So I have to give my shout outsto, of course, sandals and
again, sandals.
You know they're not sponsoringus, but you should because I
talk about you guys.
I love you guys.
Yeah, definitely the Sandalsbrand.

(06:28):
We were at Sandals, south Coastand, oh my God, beautiful,
beautiful resort.
It was so nice, beautiful beach, amazing.
But I have to give a shout outto the Butler staff Ainsley and
Devon they were amazing wasabsolutely amazing.
I'm telling you, you want to bepampered?
You go to Sandals, you get theButler Room.

(06:49):
If you go to South Coast, askfor Ainsley and Devon Superb,
these guys were amazing, so Ihave to give a shout out to them
.
I also have to give a shout out.
Jim and I went to Dolphin Covein.
Let's see, it was in the northpart of the island, kind of up
near Montego Bay, but thatwasn't the name of the area.
Any case, nordea N-O-R-D-INordea Nordea, I think, is how

(07:11):
you say her name she was atrainer there and this was a
great experience.
We got to get in the water withthe dolphins and we were
swimming with them and they weredoing foot pushes and it was
just absolutely an amazingexperience.
If you ever have theopportunity to go to Jamaica, go
to Dolphin Cove.
If you have an affinity fordolphins, this is an absolutely

(07:31):
amazing experience, great forchildren, adults alike, even
farm board.
Jim got in the water with thedolphins.
Oh, jim, I know.
So I promised her I would giveher a shout out because truly,
she made our day very special.
But I have to tell you, though,we did have one interesting
experience.

Chrisy (07:47):
We had a driver.

Kerry (07:48):
It's a an hour and a half drive from the airport to the
resort and you could take ashuttle bus, but we chose to
have a private car.
Our driver fell asleep on uswhile they were driving well, we
got caught in some trafficbecause it's like a little
two-lane road and there was someconstruction and there was car
broke down.
So we were kind of in that stop, start traffic, you know, stop

(08:10):
for five minutes, start for aminute, stop for five minutes.
She fell asleep like threetimes.

Chrisy (08:14):
Oh my gosh that's a little scary it was a little bit
unnerving, weren't like on theside of a cliff or anything,
were you?
I don't know what thetopography of jamaica is, but I
would not say a side of a cliff, but the roads were narrow.

Kerry (08:31):
Okay you.
They drive on the opposite sideof the road from us here in
America so that's always like alittle like discombobulating you
know, because yeah, it's justit's different.
You know, we were kind of, butwhat would have taken an hour
and a half took three hours andagain she fell asleep a couple.

Chrisy (08:47):
Was it because she fell asleep or because of the
construction?

Kerry (08:50):
Mostly because of the construction, and there was a
car breakdown.
But, we might have gotten therefive minutes sooner had she not
fallen asleep and been like 10car lengths of cars, Like you
know, people waiting for us tomove so they can move.

Chrisy (09:03):
So let me ask you this Do you think she had the DNA
test?
That was a napper that she?
She's probably one of thosedirty, stinking nappers.

Kerry (09:16):
I 100% believe she was, because here's how I know this
For some reason of all ofJamaica, and all the drivers and
all the car rentals.
When we went back to theairport, guess who was our
driver?
The napper the napper.
The same lady, and we were.
She napped again the driversand all the car rentals.
When we went back to theairport, guess who was our
driver?

Chrisy (09:28):
the napper the napper the same lady and we were.
She napped again yes, well, this is bad let me tell you this
part.

Kerry (09:36):
So we're standing in front of the, the resort, uh, at
the entrance, waiting for, youknow, our car to arrive, and the
butlers come out and say, oh,your, your car is here.
And we look and we're like, huh, that looks like the same car
we came in.
And then I look through thewindow and realize it's the same
lady.

Chrisy (09:55):
She was asleep in the car waiting to pick us up and
you rushed to get in that car, didn't you?

Kerry (10:00):
Oh sorry, Totally blew the microphone off, she, the
bellhop, had to go knock on thedoor to get her to wake up, to
take us.
And then we were like oh my god, and I even I grabbed jim's
shoulder and I went oh my god,it's the same lady and she's
sleeping already.

Chrisy (10:20):
So maybe one of you should have drove.
You could have let her sit inthe passenger seat and get her
nap in on the way from back fromthe airport.

Kerry (10:29):
You know she's trying to make small talk.
One of the things she said wassomething about why do us
Americans have to give up earlyon our days off or on?
Because I think she asked likeon vacation, do we sleep in, or
whatever?
And we were like, well, alittle bit, but you know we like
to get up early for breakfastor whatever.
And she was like I don'tunderstand why you Americans say
why aren't you taking, whyaren't you sleeping in?

(10:49):
I'm telling you, on my days offI sleep.
And I wanted to say well, yousleep on the job too, but I
didn't.
Are you sure she didn't havenarcolepsy?
I don't know.
But God bless her.
She was such, she really wassweet.
But yeah, maybe driving is notthe best career choice.

Chrisy (11:07):
Right, right, well, yeah , I would say so.
Real quick, though I have toget back to something with you
because it freaks me out what Ido as many things do.
You're in the water with these.
The dolphins yeah yeah, so areyou sure it's always dolphins
Like, because?

Kerry (11:23):
I would be confused.

Chrisy (11:25):
My luck.
I'd be like I'm going to standup on this dolphin and here
comes a shark, yeah, and I'mlike, geez, this doesn't seem
interested in me.
And now you know, I'm justanything that has a fin that
would be coming at me.
I'm done.

Kerry (11:44):
Well, it was.
The aquarium that it was in wasan open water, you know, it was
the actual ocean water that itwas in, but it was blocked off
and so they weren't getting outand large sharks weren't coming
in.
Now I'm sure some of thesmaller fishies could get
through the gates and the netsor whatever, but no, but did you
see?

Chrisy (12:03):
Jaws 3?
Because I bet you did becausethat's a SeaWorld thing.

Kerry (12:08):
It is.
And they did have a stingraything and where you could swim
with.
I'm sure it was nurse sharks.
We didn't go look at them, butthey had to swim with sharks.
But we've swum with sharksbefore at them, but they had to
swim with sharks.
But we've swum with sharksbefore and they're usually nurse
sharks.
They're just benthic bottomdwellers.
They might crush a bone butthey ain't gonna rip your arm
off.
So who knows, maybe they gotthem because they did get into
the aquarium.

Chrisy (12:27):
I don't know I, you know , I totally jaws was in sea
world and I'm not telling youanything.
To be crappy about sea world, yeah, but that's the premise of
the movie it is and maybe gotthrough the sea world should
have sued that movie because itseemed like sea world went
downhill after that.
Now, don't be crap, I'm notcracking on sea world.

Kerry (12:47):
I'm saying that I think they have a case against jaws 3.
They probably could, you wouldthink, because they use the name
.
They would have had to,probably had some rights or they
had to somehow.
They couldn't have just usedtheir name and made that movie
without.
No, it definitely was alicensing thing, I'm sure,
because I mean it was very clearthat it was.
SeaWorld.
Yes, I have two more things toshare about the vacation.

(13:08):
So we fly often Southwest, justbecause it's one of their hubs
is out of Pittsburgh.
We fly out of Pittsburgh, sothat's one of the airlines, and
they usually have the bestflight schedules when we're
flying out west to Las Vegas orUtah or when we're going to the
Caribbean.
So we do fly southwest.

Chrisy (13:23):
Okay.

Kerry (13:23):
I do enjoy southwest.
I used to hate it, I used tocall it the cattle call and
everything, but now not so much.
But I was a little put off byone of the flight attendants
this time, uh-oh, because Ialways ask going onto the plane
is it a full flight?
Because that way you'rementally prepared.
Am I sharing a row with a thirdperson because it's just Jim

(13:46):
and I traveling in those threeseats?
Or is the potential, the hope, that we might get a row to
ourselves and most of the timethe flight attendants, they'll
tell you the numbers oh, there'sonly two seats left, or oh,
it's a pretty full flight, or oh, oh, yeah, there's plenty of
room you know, and it's never abig deal and the one flight they
were like oh, there's like 60some open seats, so they were
actually trying to tell people, like spread out, like we need to

(14:08):
balance the weight.
Now I always have a problem withthis.
When they're telling you youhave to balance the weight,
they're not weighing us beforethey get on the plane.
So when we randomly sitwherever, is it just a
statistical thing that we'rejust randomly going to balance
our weight?
But they're very concerned whenit's a very empty flight that
they balance the weight.
And I'm like are our humancarcasses really going to make

(14:30):
that big of a deal on thatflight that they have to balance
the weight?
But I would think you'd be moreconcerned on a full flight to
balancing the weight.
And also, if you bought a planeticket on a plane that had
assigned seats and you didn'tget to pick your seats, do they
go through the plane and say, ohno, you have, you have to move
because our weights not balanced, because we had too many heavy

(14:50):
people on the right side of theplane book and light people set.

Chrisy (14:53):
I mean, these are the things I think about when I fly
and I love that you fly becauseyou want to go to these
wonderful places.
But to be honest, this soundslike so much trouble I'm happy
just to park my ass in my carand go.
I really hey, if any junkiesout there are aeronautical
engineers, yes, can you pleasegive us the skinny?

Kerry (15:12):
or the fat on traveling on these planes?
How skinny or fat do you haveto be to fly, fly truly.
I know that's a little offtopic about our thankful sunday,
but these are just things Ithought about because I was so
thankful for my vacation and Iwas so thankful to be out there
and meeting people and sharingthe news.
And and again, going back tooriginally, jamaica is another

(15:35):
uh country that we got somelisteners because I was there
obviously promoting us.

Chrisy (15:40):
I just wanted to give that thankful shout out Carrie
is definitely holding up a lotmore because of her happiness to
move about the world.
I am very happy to shout at themailman as he delivers my mail.
Did you listen to theDysfunction Junkies podcast
there, boy?
Hey, come on, because that'sabout all I'm interacting with

(16:03):
there.

Kerry (16:04):
Hey, mailmen would be good for us, because what are
they doing?
All day?
They're delivering mail andwalking.
They could listen to us, theycould bang out a couple episodes
.

Chrisy (16:11):
You know what it's a government they're probably not
allowed to have it.
I'm not allowed to toss themsome flyers and say can you just
keep dropping these people?

Kerry (16:18):
I'm pretty sure that completely, that's like wrong,
it's bad.
Sorry, I thought about it.
Yep, all right.
Well, before we wrap out, chrissy, let's talk about future
episodes.

Chrisy (16:28):
What else do we have?
Coming up we have an episodewhere we're going to talk about
aging with grace or not, or notwhich can be a problem.
Our flashback Friday is going tobe bringing back our diets
episode.
That is awesome, so that's afun one.
Oh, so we're going to talkabout phrases that we used to

(16:49):
hear as kids, and do thosephrases reflect our parents'
trauma or whoever was inflictingthose phrases on us and how did
they play on our dysfunction?
So I think that one's going tobe a fun one to talk about, and
back to school, yep.

Kerry (17:08):
Summer's drawing to a close.
It's going to be that timeagain everyone.

Chrisy (17:11):
So that's another one.

Kerry (17:13):
Awesome.
We've got a great lineup.
All right, everyone.
