Something beautiful happens when gratitude becomes intentional. Today marks the launch of "Thankful Sundays," our new monthly tradition dedicated to celebrating you – our growing dysfunction family spanning three continents and seven countries!

The universe has a funny way of aligning special moments, so it feels utterly perfect that our first Thankful Sunday coincides with both Mother's Day and Kerry's birthday. From Sweden to Pakistan, from coast to coast across America, we're marveling at how our voices have traveled to places we never imagined reaching.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Welcome to the Dysfunction Junkies podcast.
We may not have seen it all,but we've seen enough.
And now here are your hosts, chrissy and Kerry.
Welcome, junkies.
I'm Kerry and I'm Chrissy.
All right, everybody, we aregoing to start something new
here at Dysfunction Junkies.
I'm Keri and I'm Chrissy.
All right, everybody, we aregoing to start something new

(00:28):
here at Dysfunction Junkies.
We are going to start somethingwe're going to call Thankful
Sundays.
So, since we started ourpodcast, chrissy and I really do
try to prioritize our, you know, giving shout outs to our
listeners.
You know our junkie family.
We wouldn't be here without youguys.
So we are going to dedicate oneepisode a month to do just that

(00:49):
, and it'll be on one Sunday amonth.
Not sure which Sunday, butit'll be a Sunday a month, and
so this is our first one.
We thought what a good day todo this then, on Mother's Day,
so happy.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Mother's Day.
It is Mother's Day, yay.
And also, I didn't forget.
Happy birthday, carrie.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yes, today is my birthday again, sharing it with
the moms out there, but thankyou for thinking of me.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
You're welcome Everybody.
Please wish Carrie a happybirthday.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Now see, you can't do that.
Why?
Why?
Because you're prompting peopleto say then no it has to be
because people are selfish.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
They actually follow through.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
With that, you should feel special well, if they
think about it after, they thinkabout their mom, then, yes, I
will appreciate it.
So, but we do want to give aspecial shout out to our moms,
because how we wouldn't be hereif it wasn't for them, right, ch
, chrissy, yeah, all theirdysfunction that they gave us,
thank you, mom.
So, yes, thank you to Bonnieand to Jane for Happy Mother's

(01:53):
Day.
So we've had some excitinggrowth here in the past month
and we just have to acknowledgeit because, again, we are just
so grateful that all of you arelistening and that our
dysfunction family is growing.
We are officially on threecontinents now.
I know I never thought that ourvoices would like have such a

(02:15):
reach, but yes, so we are inNorth America, europe and Asia,
and we are in seven countries.
So special shout out to our twonewest countries, sweden and
Pakistan.
Thank you.
I know it's crazy, isn't itweird to think like sometimes,
when I see these pop up, that,oh, we're now in Sweden, oh,
we're in Pakistan, oh, we're inIreland, oh, we have more

(02:36):
downloads from Ireland.
I'm like I want to talk tothese people.
I want to know what made themlisten to us and why they keep
like I, I'm so excited.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I'm afraid there's a coup happening where they're
plotting something against me.
They're like this this personneeds to be stopped.
No, but if that makes youlisten to this show, I'll take
it.
But no, it is.
It's amazing to think thatpeople from these places, yes,
and just the amazing nature ofthe world we live in with this

(03:05):
technology is scary technologyjust, and everybody beats this
whole idea to death.
So I'm not going to belabor itfor long, but when we were in
high school together, yeah wewould there.
Our brains had no ability toeven think of any of this stuff,
and the fact that we're justsitting here having a great time
talking about crap that made usbe jerks or be great Carrie

(03:27):
obviously turned hers into astrength, and I turned it into
an excuse as to why I can be ahorrible person, and we would
have people who would beinterested in listening to this,
and so we are very proud and weare very grateful.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
I'm excited I find myself.
I mean, people are probablyaround that.
My closest people around me areprobably almost annoyed because
I talk about the podcast somuch.
Like you know, every downloadhey we got another download, or
hey, we got another country, orhey, we got another city.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
So too bad.
You probably listened to alltheir crap for long enough.
Tell them to sit there, listento it and shut up it's my time
now, that's right what about me?

Speaker 1 (04:03):
it's carrie's birthday today is my birthday,
but I'm also excited that now weare officially coast to coast.
We got colorado filled in thelake.
So now, when you look at themap, you see us from coast to
coast.
Now we still have a couple.
Well, we have what we have 28states.
So we still are missing a lotof states.

(04:24):
This is my challenge.
I'm going to manifest it, I'mgoing to put it out there, my
birthday wish.
We're going to start with the Astates.
So we need Alaska, arizona andArkansas.
Those are the remaining statesthat begin with the letter A, so
I'm going to start with thosethree.
So come on A states.
If you have friends that livein Arizona, arkansas or Alaska,
tell them about the podcast.

(04:45):
Let's get them on the map.
Yes, that's what I think weshould do Work to do people Go
junkies, go junkies.
So what else do you want to bethankful for over the past month
, Chrissy?

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I'm just thankful for the people listening, for the
feedback that we get.
I'm amazed at our growth withthe countries.
I'm loving all of our new flagsthat are being represented and
I am grateful that now, if wewant to go on a tour of the
country to meet our listeners,we don't have to jump over the

(05:17):
middle of the country to meetour listeners.
There we go, we don't have tojump over the middle of the
country.
We have a state that has tiedus, so we can just keep it.
What was the road you said wecould travel on?
So, because Colorado joined, youguys can have all of I-70
throughout the whole country.
So yeah, there we go, karenChrissy coming to a city near
you in the near future on I-70,I guess Yay.

(05:39):
So yes, I am very grateful.
Yes, it's been fantastic andwonderful, absolutely.
And I love it, and I'm solooking forward to keeping this
going Me too Me too.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
We did have a little bit of a sad loss this past
month, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
For me.
Yes, chrissy, everybody elsewas like what yes, we lost
richard chamberlain, I know.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
And then we, I feel I gotta, did I talk about him
before?
No, because we haven't been.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, we right, right and things are running together
yeah, these birthdays andspecial days for everybody, I
mean we had a whole funeralepisode.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
we probably should have mentioned it at the funeral
episodes, but yeah, we had somuch to talk about we had to do
two episodes First.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
first firsthand funeral stuff we were dealing
with?
Yeah, but yes, so, sounfortunately, though, not only
is it unfortunate that we lostRichard Chamberlain, right,
right, but you guys, junkies, and everybody out there you lost
your chance to be able to seethe thorn birds for free,
because now this guy's out andthey're like oh they, just so,
now you got to pay for it.

(06:39):
So your six hours, you're goingto be paying for that six hours
in front of the tube watchingit, but they actually have
something on YouTube I did find.
Yeah, the thorn birds in 10minutes.
Oh so send me that link.
Why birds in 10 minutes?
Oh so, send me that link.
Why do you want to be committedto the show for six hours?
Carry, how insulting look.
If you guys just need a quickfix on what that is and the

(07:01):
whole lovely thing that chrissygot in trouble for talking about
it in school.
Thorn birds in 10 minutes.
Thorn birds in 10 minutes theother thing is is I'd like to
give you a quick preview, yes,of what's on the horizon for
everybody.
So we have some really greatshows and Carrie and I take a
lot of time discussing topicsand we like when we get ideas,

(07:24):
yes, and it's so interestingbecause we sometimes don't have
the idea in our mind and thensomething comes up and we're
like God, this is so interesting.
I know we could build a wholeshow around this and it's like
one crazy thing that happens.
So we have coming up for youthe dysfunction of our
healthcare system and how wedeal with that and how we've had

(07:46):
be exposed to that.
We're at that wonderful age ofeverything falling apart
starting things are breakingdown a little bit and we need to
reevaluate our approach to ourhealth, which we probably should
have did years ago.
I'm talking about me mostly, but so that'll be an interesting
and, I hope, informative too, because I think Carrie and I
both, as with a lot of peopleout there, you have things that

(08:08):
you're experiencing.
You're not sure what it is, youmaybe downplay it and then it
ends up being something youdidn't realize whether it was
more serious, or maybe it wasn'tmore serious, but these things
come up, so we're going to talkabout that and then, being in
summer, what everybody thinksabout is summer happenings and
things.
One thing that I had to dealwith a lot and I think Carrie

(08:30):
also with her summer is the prepfor what you have.
That's a big, important thing inyour families and mine was the
nightmare of opening up theswimming pool.
Remember this was like the 80sand it was an above ground pool,
but it was a big deal to myfamily and we were expected to

(08:53):
was an event.
Participate, yes so yes, sothat will be a good time, and
you we had a.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
We, my parents, had a camper.
So later in life, yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
So important the opening and closing of the
camper was always a episode ohyeah oh, it was stuff and for
all of those people out therewho love to just be reinforced
in their already knowledge thatI am a horrible human being.
We have another episode thatI'm gonna have to put a
disclaimer on, but it's gonnashowcase, unfortunately, but

(09:25):
again it it remember the timeperiod we were in and I'm not
making excuses for it.
But yeah, there's some thingsthat are regrettable, but I find
the way they played out, atleast for me, in my sick sense
of humor, somewhat funny.
And what is this topic?

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Chrissy being naughty in school oh yeah, this will be
a Chrissy episode, all Chrissyyou know what?

Speaker 2 (09:50):
I don't think that's fair.
You really need to search deepin your soul.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Jeez oh man all right , well, I'll give it some
thought, see what I can dig upsending out thank you.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Something just prompted me to remember.
Oh yeah, something, and youshould have embraced this too.
Okay, fingers yes who we haverecently gave out her name of
natalie yes and I love her forit.
She is, uh, keeps us in together, yeah, sends me messages after
she listens to the shows.
She sent me the sweetestmessage I'm paraphrasing, but I

(10:24):
really appreciated it.
So she's talking about all ofthis stuff that she was dealing
with.
I was not aware.
Okay, because, again, becauseshe was so cute and sweet and
everybody liked her so muchbecause she had that shining
personality that she had, I justassumed that things were.
You know, you do.
Yeah, we all put up that.
Right, not me, but some peopleput up that.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Everything is okay, but your world is falling apart.
Everything is good and I livein a perfect world.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Don't talk about the elephant in the room, but she
had dealt with things that Ididn't realize she dealt with,
and those are her stories totell, but the one thing she did
say was that she, listening tous, made her realize how much
she really loved and appreciatedthe unsupervised trouble that
she was able to get into with me, aw and.

(11:11):
I just thought she said itbetter.
I'm hoping in the future we atleast have her call in.
At a minimum we may even beable to work it out where we're
all together.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
That would be fun.
That would be fun, and there is.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
She doesn't realize it, maybe you don't either, and
if I can find a photo of it,yeah, but you two were with me.
We met, yes, at my dad's theimportant girls in my life.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Right, you know so yeah, appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
So maybe I was a horrible person, but it's some
people gain some benefits fromthat and they're only coming to
that realization now, so I thankyou Very good, very good.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Yeah, we have some exciting stuff coming up.
We really do, and even lookingfarther ahead.
You know we kind of likeproject some things, but I'm
excited where we're going andI'm thankful for everyone and
that all the, all the commentsyou know again just from my work
, friends to you know, going tothe gym and just just everywhere
People are being great shoutouts to us.

(12:12):
So thank you, yes, thank youvery much.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I love our junkies.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
We do Well.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
On that note, you know it's my birthday, so I love
you, chrissy, but I need to goeat some tacos or something
there you go and margaritas andmake sure you have some sort of
a pastry or cake that isrequired today, with something
with fire on it.
Yeah, and blow out the candleand make a wish.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
I will and we'll sing the birthday song.
Just one right, just one, yay,all right, junkies.
