Struggle, hardship, perseverance, and victory, all blended up and poured out through that voice. She sounds different than we're used to, but unmistakably Billie Holiday.
On "Lady in Satin," you can feel Lady Day rise to the occasion once more to give us this testament to determination and sheer talent.
