You're the busiest guy we knowI am uh, I'm working in the area
.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
You guys invited me here, so stepped in for a bit.
This is a pretty cool spot here.
If no one has ever seen thisstudio, it's a pretty fancy.
I walked in.
You were working hard, slavingover the kitchen, yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
I didn't expect.
David G walked in andeveryone's eyes just glue.
They're like who's this guyJust walked in like shining
armor.
He brought me to the back roomsecret door.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
You went and saw the secret door Went downstairs and
there was a bunch of lights.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, nobody knows about that, Not even you, siege.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I've heard people tell me don't come back from
that room.
But hey, dave made it.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Oh man, Listen, man, we're excited that you're here.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Second time on the show right.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Second time on the show Now.
People listening probably don'tremember Davey G the first time
he was on our show, because wewere probably, because we were
probably I don't know.
Wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I'm sorry to interrupt.
This is the third time.
Third time.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Oh, it is the third time, because we had you on at
the Toronto Sportsman Show.
Just a regular now.
That's right.
Yeah, you are a regular.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Brand ambassador.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
That's right Payroll.
Now I'm broke Siege.
I've already given everything Igot.
Okay, we're here to talk aboutsomething really exciting, See.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
I interrupted you.
Let's give a little back storyon.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Dave, the back story is the Muskie Brawl established
2014.
We've been fishing Lake StClair probably for the past 15
years us and the Foreskinsaround the tournament.
Hearing about the tournamentand how it's grown Siege is

(06:07):
beyond me, and we're just superexcited to hear about how much
it's going to grow and furtherSiege further.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
So our listeners, the Muskie Brawl, it's a Muskie
tournament held on Lake St Clair.
We call the factory and it'scasting only, and we, as us
being casters, we reallyappreciate some.
We'll be trollers one day.
Tone, there'll be a day whenwe'll be trollers and we're not
controllers by any means.
There's a science to it, it'svery technical, but we are

(06:37):
junkies when it comes to casting.
So anytime we hear casting onlytournament for Muskie
goosebumps, go up Goosebumps.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
And Dave, again thanks for coming in.
You've been on the show a fewtimes and to see where you're
going with this brawl, and I'mjust excited to announce that we
are going to be official50-inch club sponsors for the
Muskie Brawl and I am pumped.
We are going to be doing a lotof stuff with these guys.
But before we get into that, davey g, we got to hear how,

(07:09):
how's the planning going andwhere are you at right now,
because we're close well, youknow, a lot of people just see
the three days of the brawl.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
They come and join.
It's a party for three days.
But uh, my partner graham and Iwe are.
We're going non-stop all yearround with this.
Um, we're talking, bouncingideas off the wall.
We're trying to grow this thingresponsibly, but we're also
trying to grow this thing tooright.
So we invite 20, 30, 40 extraguys extra a year.
Now we started off the yearwith was it Graham?

(07:39):
142 people on wait list and weactually contacted all of them.
We also contacted all 150 guysfrom last year.
But a lot of people can'tafford it.
It's an expensive weekend,right.
We understand that it's toughtimes right now.
The economy is tough.
So we did get quite a few guysreturn and just a handful of the

(08:00):
waitlist guys signed up.
So this year we've alreadysurpassed.
It's now the largest brawlwe've ever had.
I think we have about 147 guyssigned up right now.
I know about 20 other peoplethat will be signing up, so it's
going to be massive.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Wow.
Now this Graham guy youmentioned.
Rumor has it.
This guy's a stick.
He's a stick.
I've seen him on socials.
I've seen him, you know, unleash the beast 2003 or 23,
2003.
I don't think it's been a longtime.
The musky brawl last year, thewin.
What is it going to take for usto get him on the show?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
How can we get a hold of?

Speaker 1 (08:36):
this guy how can we get a hold of Graham?

Speaker 5 (08:37):
Well, you know what I do?
Know his phone number.
We can give him a shout rightnow.
Well, listen, wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
You have the Angling Adventure on phone number.
You have his phone number.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
I do.
I do so.
Graham and I have been friendssince we were babies.
Yeah, we've been fishing sideby side literally since we were,
just since we can hold a rod,and we've been through it all
together and we've been fishingthese tournaments together.
We're doing really well, andjust us in the boat.
I don't think there's a bettervibe.
I don't think there's two guysmore on the same page as Graham

(09:07):
and I.
He's my best friend.
He's been with me at the brawlthe entire time, planning with
me side by side, and I couldn'tdo it without him, to be honest,
and I'm happy to have him ontoday too.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
That's amazing folks.
So everyone listening right now.
I'd like to introduce Graham.
I'm not sure if you can hear uson the other side, but, graham,
welcome to the Eating Wildpodcast and it's great to have
you part of the show today, brother.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
Hey, what's going on, guys?
I hear you loud and clear and, yeah, it's a pleasure to be on
here.
I was just in the middle of alittle car repair here out at
the folks place, a lovely lakespier.
I'm not sure if you can see inthe background, but it's just
stunning.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Oh yeah, Look at that Stunning.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
So, yeah, really pumped to be here, though, and
let's talk some musky.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Yeah, brother.
So CJ already mentioned, you'rean absolute stick.
We all know that, and when youand Dave came together and you
guys were thinking about thistournament, is this something
that you guys created?
That was typically I'm going tosay more or less for your style
of fishing, because we knowit's a casting only tournament,

(10:16):
which is really cool.
How you guys get the shoreninjas involved.
We call them shore ninjas, cjand I and Dan and Lou, we've
been watching these guys on LakeSt Clair smashing musky right
off.
There's no other place in theworld where you see this.
So how did you come to, firstof all, the rules, the
regulations, and was it fit foryour style of muskie fishing?

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah, that's a great question there, and the rules
and the regulations is a bigpart of how we've developed this
.
From the get-go, it was prettyrelaxed.
There was like a handful of guysWe'd have, like, I think when
we first started, it wasliterally only four boats, a
handful of us.

(10:59):
It was pretty chill and relaxedand we did that kind of for the
first few years.
And then, you know, wordstarted spreading on and a did
that kind of for the first fewyears and then we, you know,
word started spreading on and afew people wanted to get more
involved and um, obviously, asyou get more people involved,
you know, and you definitelyhave to start drawing a few
lines there and and there's uh,and it's always been, we've

(11:20):
never had any serious problems, though it's been.
We've never had any seriousproblems, though it's um, but I
think I think developing thoserules and um, you know,
enforcing them is is a, is a bigpart of that and um, it's, yes,
it's definitely helped us,helped us grow, and we're
continuing to change thingsevery year.
We listen, we love to hearpositive feedback from everybody

(11:42):
.
We also love to hear negativefeedback as well, because that
helps us as well, right, Right, exactly, go ahead.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
These rules and regulations.
They've, you know, we kind oflearned along the way too.
We accumulated each onespecifically right.
So when we're putting rules andregulations in on this
tournament, we're very carefulhow we're doing that and we're
very careful how we're going toenforce it.
But I think our biggest, uh,our biggest challenge a gram is
educating everybody on how thisthing works.

(12:12):
Um, even today, actually thismorning, two guys signed up.
They go.
This is my first time hearingabout the brawl, this is my
first time entering it and Ijust said, hey, listen, before
you go sign up, go read therules as a casting-only event.
You know there's certaincheck-ins, you can't have
certain things in your boat.
There's certain ways to fish.
You know you have to educateevery single person that comes

(12:32):
into it.
That's why it's very importantand this is actually one of the
reasons why we invite everyonefrom the previous year in.
Our dream one day is to havethis tournament cut off.
At what?
At 250, 300 people that havebeen fishing it Right, so
incredible.
So we don't have to trainanymore.
You know we will always havenew people coming in.
We will grow it slowly, but Ithink, graham and I being

(12:55):
responsible and growing thisthing slowly has really made it
successful, and it also put itwhere it is today.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
That's incredible.
So when it came down to therules, the regulations were
things.
Were you guys just improvingyearly, Like, basically, you
know things that didn't work outin the previous years.
You change the rules, youlisten to what the people are
saying.
Like you know, you're welcomecriticism with any business.
If you don't take criticism,then you're not a professional.
With any business, if you don'ttake criticism, then you're not

(13:25):
a professional.
So over the years, since 2014,you guys have been improving and
that's what's been bringingpeople's attention to this
tournament.
Because, boys, it's an event.
It's not even the fishing, it'sgetting out there with the guys
, but it's an event.
And can you talk about what'shappening around Lighthouse Cove

(13:47):
and, you know, Bell River, allthese different launches by the?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
water.
It's, I mean just kind ofbacktrack there to you know,
listening to people's negativityand you know, feedback.
I do get calls from localsevery year.
Right, I just got off the phonewith Jessica from the
municipality of Lakeshore andshe said last year a local

(14:13):
called her complaining aboutlittering and a couple other
things.
And then she said an hour laterhe called back and said, hey,
nevermind, I talked to the guywho runs the tournament and
everything's okay.
And I know exactly who that was.
Graham, do you remember that guyI was talking to when I came
out of the boat?
That one time I just told him.
I said hey, I'm here to workwith you guys.
I'm here to be, you know, working side by side with you
locals.
I don't want you guys hating ushere, because if you start

(14:35):
hating us here and startcomplaining about us, I'll just
move this thing to Bell River.
And he stopped in his tracks.
He in his tracks, he goes no,no, no, no, no, let's work
through this.
Because he knows we're bringinga lot of money into that.
Oh, exactly, you know andthat's even what Jessica said
that from from Lakeshoremunicipality.
There she says you know, thisis a great what you guys are
doing and we're happy to workside by side with you.
That's all we're looking for.

(14:56):
We want to work with people.
We're not there to cause aruckus and you know, graham and
I are very strict on this thing.
We have no problem DQingsomeone, for, you know, pissing
in someone's lawn just theoutside of the fishing itself
right, we want to have a goodcrew, we want to be there.
You know, running thingssmoothly, but you know, so
that's that.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
That's you see.
You got to admit, man, for thatmany dudes think about it.
The boys, we go out and we doour hunting trips, our fishing
trips.
You know we get reckless, we,we?
We have a few drinks.
Yeah, the managing that youprobably have.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Oh, man, it's putting up with a lot, of, a lot of
people and where I reallyrespect about your guys
tournament is the fish handling.
Yes, and I really like how youguys have, like, the, you know,
the bump boards and, uh, thetanks right by by for the guys
that are casting from shore, andyou guys thought of everything

(15:51):
on it.
I mean, go ahead, dave, youwanted to say something Well.

Speaker 5 (15:55):
Graham.
Actually he kind of came upwith the idea for putting the
live walls there.
Yeah, and this we're puttingextras there.
So I'll let Graham talk aboutthat a little bit.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Yeah, so it's we've, and it's not just, you know,
it's not dave and I, it's likethe whole musky community, right
.
Like we all.
Right, we all talk amongst eachother.
We're like all in all the samegroups, all the same tournaments
together, and we you knowsomeone you know runs an idea by
by me or dave, or, and you knowwe like we talk about it and
then you know you hear a coupleideas repeat themselves over and

(16:23):
over again.
You're like, okay, well, maybethat's something we should, you
know, look into adding to therules, or you know something
that we could do to to improvethe way, uh, we run the
tournament, right.
So I think it's, um, that's,that's a huge help that way,
right, talking about stuff likethat.
And this year I think we'regonna, uh, we're actually gonna
put a couple more live balls outthere, because you know, like

(16:43):
someone had mentioned to us,you're like we have one live
wall tank there and you knowthree guys hook a fish at once.
It's not uncommon, right.
You have, you know, 20, 30 guyscasting and four people hook up
at the same time.
You get like a major windowthere and you know all the guys
are trying to share the samelive wall.
So I was like, okay, sosomething like that would be

(17:04):
definitely.
Uh, you're gonna see a lot moreof that, but they're this year
a lot more.
Um, live wall tanks and justanother example of how, like you
know, you get that.
You get that feedback by, youknow, talking to people in the
tournament as well, right?

Speaker 1 (17:16):
and do you also have, um, do you have, uh, rubber
mats when they um, when theyhave?
Because I've noticed with yourtournament, you never see these
muskie flopping around on gravel.
That's a DQ, yeah, so I've seenthat, like when they're doing
the length of the fish.
Do you have like some kind ofrubber, like a mat or something
like that, or are they justputting it straight on a bump
art?

Speaker 5 (17:38):
So we do straight to the live.
Well, but last year we hadthree or four mats laid out
there and those were the casters.
They let us know they'reputting them there.
So me and Graham kind ofstepped back, let them do their
own thing.
But we have the live wallsthere and I'm sure there's gonna
be a lot of people listening tothis.
We'll be posting it on oursocials from the brawl.
We've been hearing you guys.

(17:58):
We will be making changes thisyear with check-ins.
We actually hired two peoplefor the Lighthouse Coast
check-in, because in the morning, you know, it's 6 to 10 am for
check-in, right, there's a bigline of guys and everyone wants
to get out there fishing.
Everyone's in a rush.
You have one person hopping inthe boat checking, making sure
everything's all clean, good togo.
But this year we did hire extrahelp, so hopefully things go a

(18:20):
little more smooth there on thecheck-ins too.
So don't worry guys, we hearyou, we're fixing it and it
should be a really good show.
This year we're expecting a bigturnout.
I mean right now we're sittingat 100, with the people I know,
at least 160 people I'm surewe'll get an extra 40.
We're cutting it off at 200this year.
But yeah, we're excited.

(18:40):
It's going to be a really goodtime.
Tina from Lighthouse Co is Jack.
She got double the staff.
She has live music coming inevery single night.
We'll have you guys there setup.
We'll be doing a podcast.
It's going to be a scene.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Well, I know for a fact that you guys are doing a
great job for the communitybecause last year we had our
Muskie trip the weekend afteryou guys were there and the
restaurants had no chicken wingsleft, very low beer left.
The tackle shop only hadwalleye gear left.
There was no.
There was no big rubber baits.

(19:14):
There was none of the some likeeven the booze at the corner
store where they were like we'redrinking twisted teas and
margaritas this weekend, boysdamn you, gram and dave, we
can't even get chicken wings.
And you know the owner waslaughing with us and she's
really cool.
Shout out to Tina.
Yeah, really cool, but you guysare putting on such a great

(19:35):
thing going and it's so easy foranyone, I think, just to do a
fly-by-night tournament.
You know, you hear about these, like you know, boat launch
tournaments and the fact thatyou guys are taking in what the
town has to say, the input, thefish handling and then all the
rules.
I know you guys are going to besearching boats and making sure

(19:56):
you know there's no fish inthere before, or checking to see
if there's trolling rods inthere and, let's face it, it's
like I mean, I don't know howmuch is it to enter your $250
per guy.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
$250 per guy Up to three people in a boat, and we
have the shore guys $250 per guy.
We're going to have check-insat all the casting area, all the
lighthouse cove casting area aswell.
Yeah, I mean it's not crazyexpensive.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
I was going to say it's not that bad.
It's not that bad.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Considering what you can win what you can win, so you
have a big fish, correct?

Speaker 5 (20:28):
We have two first and second big fish.
We're going to do one throughfour again, like last year,
unless we do fill out 200, wemight open a fifth and we might
have a little extra, somethinggoing on we're talking about.
We haven't announced that yet,we don't want to make any
promises.
But then again, at the closingceremony, me and Graham are
throwing cash around everywhere.
We usually keep three or $4,000.
So $1,000 increments and wejust pick a number and call it

(20:50):
that number Jesus.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Guys, I'm a business guy, I'm a sales guy.
Yeah, okay, I'm doing the mathof how many entries and then
your payouts.
You guys aren't making a lot ofmoney.
We're not making any, I'm notchirping you for it, but like I
mean, those are great payouts.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
So listen, you know everyone's like oh, how can we
thank you guys?
Thank us by buying a sweater, buying some merch.
That's how grandma and I, youknow, pay for our weekend.
So you know, get in there, order a hoodie.
All the entry fees they go torunning the tournament.
We have to pay people.
You know, we have extra dronesin the sky this year.
We have extra people atcheck-ins.

(21:23):
We have all this stuff going on.
That costs money, but we alwayswant to have, you know, the
initial idea for this entiretournament.
I remember I was with Matt inMitchell's Bay and I said why
isn't there a casting tournament?
I can win a bunch of money inwhy?
You know, I thought it wassomething else back then.
I wanted something to enter andwin some money.
So that's exactly what me andGraham are doing.

(21:46):
We, you know, we're paying outheavy.
We pay, yeah, great.
We have a big stack of checksthere and people are coming up
and winning cash and it'sawesome.
You have these guys that youknow they're just.
They're just dude.
They don't have a boat, they'refishing offshore.
They just won $8,000 and theirface is is like what the fuck,
we ran into the weekend.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
We went in after your bra last year.
We were by the shore and we'retalking to the guys and this guy
goes yeah, I just won likethird place.
I think remember he won thirdplace.
I'm like, well, what did thatget you?
You know like 500 bucks and atrucker hat.
And he goes no, actually likefour Gs or something.
I'm like you didn't have to towa boat here, you don't have to
pay boating insurance.

(22:24):
You know you came and that'sthe best lake to have it.

Speaker 5 (22:33):
How many other lakes have you seen, where you can
catch these lakes from a kayak?
I said this at Unleash theBeast last weekend.
I said if me, graham and Ithrew this on Georgian Bay or
Nipissing, we would probably getstabbed in our sleep.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
You know the locals would be after us burning out
down our houses, and you knowlake st clair is an absolute
circus.
Anyways.
Right, you guys know this offthere.
Sorry, I don't mean to intrude,but I am on a sliver of a
battery here, so if I cut out, just you know, keep going, but
yeah yeah, no problem, we gotyou brother, no problem find a
charger, but uh, I don't thinkthere's anything around here, so
just just so.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
I Well before, just in case we lose Graham, I want
to talk to him a little bitabout Unleash the Beast.
Both of you guys went.
This is your second year youguys have been in that
tournament, yeah this is oursecond year, so that was where's
this tournament?
The French river, the Frenchriver.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
They, they held it uh , they hosted that uh Shadi
lodge um as well.
So there's, I think there'sabout uh, what is the day about?
40, 50 guys or maybe some more.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
Yeah, maybe 50, 60.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Yeah, and they they split us up with lodgers and we
go from there and uh, um, uh,craig and terry, they're the.
They're the owners of.
Uh.
Craig owns, uh uh, chaudier, and then terry's the the the guy
to go to there at the uh tiltedto most excellent host like I.
I have nothing but good to sayabout our stays there.

(23:55):
They always like make surewe're taken care of and you know
, well fed, and it's just yeah,it's a great environment to be
in with all the guys come outthere and just Toddy and the
gang.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
They really put on a really good tournament there, so
we definitely so when you guysare fishing, are you primarily
doing the mostly the French, orare you going into Nipissing at
all?

Speaker 5 (24:17):
Nipissing.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
Yeah, yeah.
So it was funny.
When we first started fishingthere, our first time there,
dave and I came there.
We, you know, our first timefishing this body of water ever.
It's huge, it's intimidating,right.
Like you know, you travel downthat river, even if you're just
heading to the lake.
It's like you know, about ahalf hour run out there in your
boat and we're we're clippingout there and and so you know,

(24:38):
we started fishing some spots inthe river, started picking
apart the lake and justbasically kind of trying to
narrow down this huge system ofwater.
And I think over time it'ssomething like that, like years
ago, to kind of be reallyintimidating, but we just kind
of, if you think about it, it'snot really that intimidating,

(25:00):
it's kind of it's very simple.
If you think about it, it's notreally that intimidating.
It's kind of um, it's, it'svery simple.
If you think about a lot ofpeople try to over complicate
musky fishing, I think.
But they're a fish just likeany other fish, right?
They?
They need food, they need agood, good, ambush spot.
So if you find a spot wherelots of walleye are, lots of
bass, are lots of perch are, you're going to find musky,
right?
so you know, you kind of breakit down like that and it, you

(25:23):
know, narrows things down a lotmore in a big body like that.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
That's amazing man that's.
And you guys always put tipsout too.
I've used your tips.
I've used the weights on theyou know the bulldogs or a big
weight guy putting the weightson the medusas and all that
stuff.
I love that and the fact you'regetting that in the water
column.
I wish I thought about thatyears ago.
I probably would have bought alot more fish.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
Oh yeah, we're hitting bottom.
We're fishing shoals out thereadjacent to deep water and you
know we're banging the bottom, getting those big lazy ones that
are sitting down there.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
I really, truly believe that the fattest ones
are always on the bottom, and Ican speak for this because they
always have the lamprey marks onthem.
So you know the lampreys aren'treally swimming up high to get
them.
Those fat cows are sitting onthe bottom lamprey marks and all
that stuff.

Speaker 5 (26:14):
You fish Detroit and you know any other system that
has current in it.
Those big ones are sittingright in the bottom and their
bottom belly is just full oflamprey marks.
They'll shake them off prettyquickly.
I mean, you know that's wherethey are.
So how did you guys do thisyear?
How did you guys make out?
Well, good question.
I mean we went in pretty hot.
Graham, of course, hit a nicefish right off the hop.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
He was in the lead for a little.
Here he comes, Win it again.

Speaker 5 (26:43):
I was rooting for Graham Graham.
He won both Unleash the Beastand the Muskie Brawl last year
and it would be pretty cool tosee him do it again.
But we came short.
We pulled a lot of fish offthese shoals and we saw a lot of
fish.
We had a lot of fish on, butjust the one.
I think we saw what 20, 21 fishgram probably total in the
whole week.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Yeah, it was, uh, it was more of a uh, it felt like
more of a muskie viewing weekend.
We were just up kicking backand watching muskies, you know,
swim around the boat quite a bit.
It seemed to be a one of one ofthose trips and, um, but I'm
I'm glad that you know we didn'twin first place because I, I
think, maybe, think, maybe I gotsome of my friends back now, so

(27:25):
I'm happy.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
I can only imagine what it's like.
The boys come out and they'relike are they happy to see
Graham and?

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Davey G show up.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Or they're like oh, here comes the Whisperer boys.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
I would love to know more about with you guys.
You say you're friends sincewe're your babies.
So you guys, where's the homeroots for you boys?

Speaker 5 (27:46):
We're right in Lake Superior in Ghouli River in
Hayden, ontario.
Oh man, we were literally bornand raised together.
We were homeschooled most ofour lives growing up.
So during the day we would biketo each other's houses and go
brook trout fishing, we would gobass fishing whatever we can
get our hands on.
What about hunting?
You guys pop?
Oh, my goodness, graham, wehave so many stories for you
about hunting, graham and I.

(28:06):
It's hilarious, we've beensmall game hunting, big game
hunting, everything together.
I remember during we used to goto church every Sunday.
Growing up we used to bring ourguns.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Oh, my goodness.

Speaker 5 (28:18):
Our pellet guns.
We were like nine, ten yearsold and we'd go during there's
like a little break in between.
We would run behind the churchit's full of rabbits and we
would shoot them, but the pelletgun would just injure them.
So they're screaming andbleeding everywhere, oh boy.
And we would come back into thechurch for like the prayer time
or whatever it was.
We would just be covered inblood.
A bunch of dead rabbits in theback of the car.
You know, that's how we kind ofgrew up.

(28:40):
We grew up in the middle ofnowhere, right?

Speaker 1 (28:41):
So you guys are big wild game.
I've talked to Graham a coupleof times over socials and he's
always posting really goodrecipes and it seems like he's
consuming a lot of wild game.
But you guys are big time likegame guys, like wild game food.

Speaker 5 (28:56):
Yeah, Graham and I, we always share an idea.
Graham's, I would say, pioneersit in between the two of us.
He gets good at canning and heshows me how to do it.
He's right into that.
He eats everything.
He's eating the heart and hesends me these weird tongue
photos all the time.
He's ripping them out.
Oh wow, he eats everything.
But I mean the wild game thingthat's kind of part of our lives

(29:16):
growing up.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Yeah, for sure.
And it started off like, Ithink, when we were younger,
like we'd you know, we'd eatbear, we'd eat moose and things
like that, just kind of growingup a lot of rabbits, right,
obviously, all the rabbits weshot at church.
We had to eat those.
And I remember when I was, whenI was very young, before that,
my, I would always go when Ifirst got, like when I first got

(29:38):
a pellet gun and I would shoot, like I would shoot little birds
, I'd shoot squirrels.
And I came back home and my, my, uh, my mom said to me she said
, graham, she's like, you canshoot stuff, she's like, but you
gotta eat what you shoot.
Okay, yeah, the next night I wasdoing up a nice big pot of

(30:01):
chickadee chipmunks, somecarrots.
I had a nice big soup goingthere.
So I was eating wild game froma pretty young age, I guess, and
then it just kind of carriedover until we got older.
So I was still doing the samething.
I tried to eat as much foodthat I know where it comes from

(30:26):
and I think that's superimportant to me.
And, yeah, and Dave as well.
Like you know, like we'vealways went on big bear hunts,
deer hunts.
Like just grew up and it was.
We're always good to havepeople like your dad, pete,
there and and other people likeand other people kind of get a
start in that direction, and mymom for letting me shoot
chickadees and squirrels, yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
It's so funny you say that because everyone starts
with those Red Ryder BB guns.
You know what I mean.
And then you get the crack thebreak barrel one.
We were serious about this.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
I mean I had my Pelican dialed where I was like
sniping morning duds off thepower line from like 100 feet
away.
That's crazy.
We had scopes on them, we wouldjust spend hours, we just had
those things dialed right in.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
It's just, I think we're all kind of it's in us.
Do you know what I mean?
Like I had both four BB guns asa kid and I didn't grow up
where you guys were.
You know a smaller town, but Iwent away on a trip and I came
back and my dad went to look formy BB guns and I'm like,
where's my BB guns?
All the neighbors in theneighborhood came to my parents'
house.
They all had holes in theirbird feeders and all that stuff.

(31:36):
So I got all my guns taken awayfrom me at a young age.
But then I got it.
But then I had to learn.
You know, I had to learn thething.
But it's just, it's somethingin that young boy mentality.
I think we all start that way.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
Well, we were like we were redneck, redneck Like we.
When we got our first crackbarrel, 12 gauges, we used to
put all of our winter stuff on,all of our ski stuff on and a
bunch of goggles, yeah, and thethe rule was you have to be at
least 50 feet away.
We'd go out there with likeseven and a half, eight and a
half birdshot.
We'd shoot at each other with12 gauge.
You know we'd be runningthrough the bush, just oh you
got me and you would have allyour snow like your heavy snow

(32:11):
stuff on this, all our heavysnow stuff on, like layers of it
.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Oh my.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
God, that's hilarious .

Speaker 1 (32:14):
It was it.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
You were smart, yeah, very smart, those.
We learned some, uh, learnedsome lessons, that's for sure.
It was funny that story you'retelling about getting your bb
guns taken away.
I remember, yeah, I remember, the first time I had my first bb
gun ban.
Um, you remember our friendchris olar dave, that we always
used to chum, oh yeah, and onetime we were in a we were having
a little bb gun fight.
You know, we thought it waslike, you know, as long as we
don't shoot them in the eyes,it's all good.
And then I think it's whathappened is I shot him in the

(32:46):
hand and he had to go to surgery, and then my dad, and then it
was like, yeah, it's like yourprivileges are revoked for I
think it was like over a year.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
That was my life like not having, like not having my
BB gun right.
Yeah, bb guns and firecrackers.
I think every young boy has toat least entertain those things
at one point of their time.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
Well, going back, you know, I mean all this stuff,
Graham and I growing up runningthe brawl I think Graham just
cut out there, that's okay, that's all right.
But I mean Graham and I havebeen working side by side with
more than just the brawl.
Right, we have businessesoutside.
We have a couple of businessestogether as well that we have to
talk about all the time andmake ideas and make it work.

how to catch them, and they wereeasy to catch, yeah, but it's
not just a fishing show.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
We're going to be talking to people from all
facets of the outdoors, fromathletes, All the other guys

Welcome back dave, davey g.
You were saying you guys, youknow, bringing your pellet guns
to church.
That was, uh, that's prettycrazy, you guys.
You guys grew up together atsuch a young age and you know,
obviously, hunted and fished andconsumed and there's probably
tons of stories you guys havetogether.

Speaker 5 (36:04):
Yeah, I mean, you guys know my brothers.
You guys follow my brothers onsocial media.
Graham is a brother as well.
I've spent just as much timewith Graham as my own brothers.
So it's you know, he'sdefinitely family.
We know exactly what's going on, you know.
We know exactly what eachother's thinking.
You know on.
We know exactly what eachother's thinking.
We have photos of us in a sinktogether when we're like babies.

(36:25):
So running businesses, runningthe brawl together, has worked
out amazing Because we talkabout things, we run things by
each other, we do that, so itworks out perfect.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
Well, we're hoping to get him back on soon.
I think his battery died, buthe should be joining us back
very shortly.
Back to the brawl, if we can.
So you're saying you gotpossibly 200 anglers and you're
saying you amped up yourcheck-ins as well, right?

Speaker 5 (36:56):
So we amped up the check-ins, we amped up the
drones in the sky.
I mean we can follow you outthere 10 kilometers with those
things.
So Canadian waters only, whichI get asked often by Americans.
A lot of the Americans theylaunch in the States and they
come over.
But the number one question isokay, well, I can't touch ground
over there, we can still do acheck-in.

(37:17):
If you just kind of pull yourboat up and we ask you to open
your live, well, we ask you toshow us what's in your boat.
What Check-in?
If you just kind of pull yourboat up and we ask you to open
your live, well, we ask you toshow us what's in your boat.
What we're doing is we're justlooking to see if there's any
hidden muskies.
You know people get weird whenthere's a lot of money on the
table.
Yeah, yeah yeah, we have, youknow, watching out for all the
trolling gear, the rod holders, the trolling rods really, you

(37:42):
are allowed to toss trollingbaits, which line.
A lot of people do that.
But I mean, this year is goingto be huge.
We got a lot, a lot going on.
We have a lot of a lot of workto do still, but it's looking
fun and we're excited to haveyou guys on.
I mean, I've known you guys fora couple of years now.
I've known Chris for quite awhile, and the fact that you
guys are stepping it up andbeing our sponsors I'm super
excited about Graham.
I can't wait to tell you whatthey're going to be doing for us
.
He just showed me some thingsand I'll let you guys talk about

(38:05):
what you're going to do withthe brawl.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
This is Antonio's department.
Go there, master Chief, tell uswhat we're doing.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Smash.
Malek is putting his chefjacket on.
He's keeping the rods in theboat.
I won't be of the brawl.
We will be setting up a livepodcast.
Hopefully Tina's cool with itwe haven't talked to her yet,
but I'm sure she won't have aproblem with it.
But we're going to be doinglive podcasts at the restaurant
on the weekend.

(38:31):
Yes, we're going to beinterviewing people that have
been on the water, maybe evensome shore ninjas I'd love to
talk to shore ninjas man, because they must be different
breeds Like imagine sitting downnext to a shore ninja guy who
casts, you know, bulldogs offthe shore.
You know, at the same spot, thesame area, year after year, and
we got thousands and thousandsof dollars worth of boats and

(38:53):
gear.
Anyways, we're going to beinterviewing people from the
brawl.
We're going to have the GCCeating wild food truck by
lighthouse Cove Say what?
Yes, brother, we're, we'redriving, we're.
Listen, man, did you ever watchwhere the Millers this is where
the yeah this is.
you're going to be right next tome, buddy, we're going down.
We're going down the 401 in thefood truck.

Speaker 1 (39:15):

Speaker 2 (39:15):
We're going to pop up at lighthouse Cove.
We're going to be there.
In the morning I got huge.
Listen, man, if you're afisherman in this tournament and
you don't stop by the EatingWild food truck, you have a
problem, because we're going tobe giving away t-shirts.
We're giving away.
Wait a minute.
Have you ran the budget by me?
I haven't even talked to theother guys.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Don't care, okay, roll with it.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
Okay, this is what's going on.

That's what.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
I'm doing.
I'm going to be behind thescenes.
You're going to be handing thefood out to the guys.
You're going to be talking tomy.
See, you're gonna listen.
Every, like davey g saidearlier, yeah, that morning, of
no matter how hard you partiedthat night before, yeah, when
you get there, you see all thepeople, the sun is rising,
you're at the check-in.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Your blood is boiling , brother and there's nothing
better we all know as fishermenand outdoorsmen to have that
protein in you.
You know what I mean and you.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
How many times do we wake up late?
We're like we, oh my God, wedon't have a sandwich for the.
So, listen, you could take yoursandwich.
I'm not even saying it's asandwich.
Listen, it's not a sandwich.
It could be a sandwich.
What am I saying?
I don't know yet.
I got lots of samples coming in, let them cook.
Shit's coming into the shopevery day and I got Use everyone
as my test dummies.
What'd you guys think of this?

(40:59):
What'd you think of that?
And things are going.
I've been sending you pictures.
You're a scientist.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
He's a scientist, I'm going crazy here, folks.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
So we're going to incorporate some sort of wild
game.
It's going to be local Again.
We are teaming up with oursponsors, the Butcher Shop,
who's going to be providing uswith so much awesome stuff to
give away.
Talking about tomahawk steaks,we're going to have ribeyes,
bacon-wrapped fillets.
We're going to be like OprahSiege we're going to be throwing
shit out the window.

Speaker 5 (41:25):
Now, like I said before, a lot of locals will be
around, so I mean, bring extraCharge those guys, and I'll be
posting this podcast on all theLighthouse Cove and all the
surrounding area Facebook pages.
So, if you're listening, comeout during the brawl.
November 1st, 2nd and 3rd, Cometo the casting platform at

(41:45):

Speaker 4 (41:52):
Oh boy.

Speaker 1 (41:53):
Here we go.
Any of the short ninjas, catcha fish.
You come over.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Graham, write this down, okay, okay I'm just
kidding man, I'm just gettingout his pen, here we go listen,
I I gotta be honest with youguys, man.
Like how amazing is it whereyou can, you know, not think
about your refreshment and yourfood in the morning?
All you got to do is just showup.
You're a part of somethingspecial here in the musky brawl
the fact that we can be a partof this each week.

Speaker 1 (42:16):
This is our privilege for us to be a part of it,
because we've, we've I felt likewe've known you guys.
I've been following graham,I've been following dave matt
all for so long now.
Man, it's, it's a smallcommunity, it's a big community,
but it's small at the same time.
And, uh, the fact that we canhelp out and we know a lot of
anglers that are going to be inthere too, so I'm going to place

(42:36):
some side bets on who I?
We have a whole bookie system,by by the way, you didn't tell
you, dave, there's odds ondifferent anglers.
So, yeah, there's side money.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
If you come to the Eating Wild House it might be
coming into like a scene fromGoodfellas, where you see Siege
in a corner with a big cigar.
Yeah, lou's cutting garlic witha.
What are those?
Those?
Little razor blades yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:06):
I'm blades.
Yeah, I'm in the back eating asalami sandwich.
You might have live up to dateswho just got this fish and all
that.

Speaker 5 (43:08):
We're into this man, we're into this, anything we can
do for you boys.
We got some.
It's great.
We got some big names coming inthis year.
I mean to highlight that topic.
We got a lot of people comingin now that are, you know, big
names on saint claire, and justnot even saint claire, just the
musky game in itself.
Right, you know, you gotyoutubers coming in and if we do
reach our capacity, you mightsee us open maybe a $500,000
prize for the girl who gets thelargest muskie on the whole

(43:28):
weekend.
You know, because we are seeinga lot of female anglers.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
Let's talk about that because on our show on the
Eating Wild we've had some ofthe best hunter huntress girls
in the outdoors, fishermen orfisherwomen.
And do you have a lot of femaleanglers in your brawl?

Speaker 5 (43:44):
We do.
I mean we have a couple dozeneach year coming.
I know a couple good stickscoming in this year.
I mean there's a lot ofcompetition this year and
sometimes it's nice to have thatlittle bit of a you know.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
What about the young lady that just won the Unleash
the Beast?
Is she going to be there?

Speaker 5 (44:06):
Was it a winner?
Uh, you know chelsea and nick, they are big hunters, oh okay,
oh yeah, and it's moose season.
I know those guys are packed upand they're out of here.
So, yeah, one thing about thebrawl is is it actually lands on
just before most huntingseasons?
Right, right, right.
So it does work out.
We've always talked about maybehaving it later, but you know,
then you have the risk of uhicing up.
Yeah, the last three or fouryears have been warm out there,
and this year it looks like itmight be the same.
Who knows, you never know.
It's the first weekend ofNovember every year and I think

(44:27):
we're going to keep it that way.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
So do you think the winning fish in the last couple
of years is obviously beingcoming off?
Rubber, rubber baits.
Right, let's be honest.

Speaker 5 (44:36):
Well, it's the top three, right?
So I mean the one thing aboutLake St Clair and a lot of
people chirp Lake St Clair, Iknow, but the fall it's like a
salmon run where we're fishingand everyone's in Thames and
everyone is catching fish.
So you have these big nameguides that are entering this
year.
Everyone thinks they're goingto win, but you still have to

(44:56):
catch three long fish.
It's the top three length fish.
So I mean, sitting in thethames river mouth, you have
good odds yeah anyway, the shoreguys place every single year.
That's why the shore game is sobig.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
The shore guys do.
The shore guys do amazing.
That's awesome.
That's awesome.
You're saying that thing aboutrubber baits too, and it's like
I noticed a lot of guys.
They they were doing well onthose sibyls last year, oh right
yeah, those, what are the big?

Speaker 1 (45:24):
the hard swim baits right or gram those ones.
Yeah, they're like a big hardjointed.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
Yes, yeah, like like something I would throw salt
water like for, like, gt orsomething like that, like that.
I feel like it's very similarto something like that.
I would never think to you know, you know, use it for musky.
But yeah, guys are pitchingthere and they're, they're
slapping them there on shortlike they're.
You know just as muchcompetition as the guys out on
the boat every year.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
I love that man.
There always seems to be lsc.
The amount of time we've beenfishing, antonio, I and the
other two.
There's always that one baitthat is new bait that's clicking
.
You know the rover, you know, obviously, the og water wolf.
Speaking of new baits, that'swhere I'm going with this, my
man.
So, so you got, and then bondy, you know, and then you got, uh,

(46:11):
kyle, moxon's bait, therestless rider.
And then so I hear down thepipeline antonio was telling me
something in my car right herethat there might be something
new Go ahead boys.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
Is it fake news?
I don't know.
You told me, tony.
I'm excited.
It could be fake news, I don'tknow.

Speaker 5 (46:28):
So we got Absolutely Go ahead, Graham.

Speaker 4 (46:32):
Yeah, sure, yeah.
So I was on the phone with MrNabolsky the other day of
Waterwolf Lures and there'ssomething that's coming and I
keep bugging him every day.
It's like can I tell everyone?
Can I tell everyone?

Speaker 5 (46:45):
Oh man.

Speaker 4 (46:49):
So soon you'll hear some big news from Waterwolf
Lures coming out, so you'regoing to have to stay tuned for
that, I guess.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
You're going to have to come to the brawl.
You're going to have to come tothe brawl right.

Speaker 5 (46:59):
Where's this news being broken, Graham?

Speaker 4 (47:02):
And you'll have to.
For the news you'll have totune into our Facebook page or
our Instagram page and followMusky Brawl.
I know a lot of you guys outthere are already on that, but

(47:22):
if you're not, get on there.
If you're excited about new, exciting things, whether you're
in the brawl or not, also abunch, also some good news there
.

Speaker 2 (47:27):
So, yeah, just uh, I guess, tune in and wait and see,
but I'm gonna tell you rightnow.
So we're talking mike waterwolf, we're talking let's go back
almost 20 years each.
Okay, because hook set.
Martins was the first one tothrow the jailbird, yeah, okay,
I thought he was on crackthrowing that bait.
We're on lake nipissing.
I'm like this guy baked out ofhis mind, he's throwing this 12
inch shadzilla.

(47:47):
There I am with my doubleeights.
I'm like this guy's not gettingnothing.
What are you using?
You know what way martins is.
He was, yeah, we've talkedabout it on this podcast many
times.
Hooks into that 44-inch pikechanged my life.
We went out, we went and sawMike at the Toronto Sportsman
Show when he used to go.
He used to go, yeah, and buddy,we all we went nuts and it
changed.

(48:08):
It changed musky fishing.
For me, because you mentioned,it's that one bait there.
For me, because you mentioned,it's that one bait, there's
always one, there's always thatone bait.
And every year, for me, mypersonal best was a 52.
Yeah, and it was on a Shadzillawalleye.
But then, year after year, itwent from Tennessee Shad, white

(48:29):
perch, black perch, new colorcomes out.
So you know, you have so manyof these guys that are like you
mentioned Kyle Moxon.
Like this tournament is going tobe the pickle point for
everybody involved.
You got the Shadzillas, you gotbig time guides coming in.

(48:51):
I got to ask Graham thisquestion Can you even focus on
the tournament itself?
I know you've won thetournament, but can you even
focus on is your mind going toflip over when you hit your boat
and next thing you know you getto your spot and, by the way, I
think I've seen you camp downin front of that willow tree a
few times.
Am I not starting to fight here?

(49:12):
Am I?
Is that you, graham?

Speaker 4 (49:15):
I may have parked there.

Speaker 1 (49:18):
That's such a clutch spot, that spot is so good man.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
Are you in game mode, brother?
Are you ready to pop?

Speaker 4 (49:26):
Yeah.
So the thing is we've talkedabout this before, dave and I
coming into this week, and it'salways we have so much on the go
and we're like trying toorganize everything, answer
questions, get things ready, make a game plan and and deal
with everything that's going on.
But at the same time you got toget into game mode, like, and

(49:47):
you got to start visualizingthose big fish coming in and you
know, get, get your mindsetready, right to focus.
And it's a struggle, sometimesjuggling the two, and maybe
sometime in the future maybewe'll focus a little bit more on

(50:07):
the tournament and focusing onjust growing this and making it
better.
But the goal has always beenfor us the original plan was go
out, growing this and making itbetter.
And but yeah, the goal hasalways been for us, it has
always been to.
The original plan was go out, make a bunch of money.
You know, like biggest fishcatches money and always got us
pumped up and that's what youknow.
You know people, people aregoing to hate right.

(50:28):
They're like oh you run thetournament and you won it and I
was like, yeah, I was likethat's why we made the
tournament, so you go there andwin money yeah, we have, we have
.

Speaker 5 (50:35):
We have a good system too, gram.
I mean gram and I, we fish hardall day.
Yeah, we're taking phone callsall day long, like our phones
are on the dash and I'm cast andI'm answering hey, can I enter
the fish this way?
You know you're answeringquestions and you're helping
people with issues all day longwhile you're fishing.
It's really busy, but gram andI do.
At the end of the day we go backto our Airbnb, we crack open a

(50:56):
beer, we sit side by side and weopen up the app and we have to
approve everyone's entries, right, oh man, so that's the
hard part, because some peopledon't enter it properly when
we've been teaching the otherwhole week leading up to the
tournament, and that's when wededuct a point or deduct an inch
, or we actually dequeue thewhole fish in itself.
You know we get evil phonecalls but hey, listen,

(51:17):
everyone's paying $2.50 each.
We're running a tight ship hereand Graham and I have a really
good routine now where we justgo back, we approve all the fish
and then we go out to the barand we party.
So you know it is work for us.
At the end of the day, it is alot of work for us at the end of
the day, but, uh, this is whatwe signed up for, this is what
we've always, uh, dreamed ofdoing, and and here we are let's
talk about the app.

Speaker 1 (51:37):
Is it fish donkey?
You guys use it's fish donkey, yeah.
So if tone's in it, so hecatches a good fish, so any fish
, any musky, so he takes apicture of it and it gets time
stamped and everything on theapp.

Speaker 5 (51:50):
Yes, so we have ways of entering the fish.
The back has to be against thewall, the rigid board, right
mouth closed, against the theback.
Yeah, you could pinch the tailwhatever, as long as you're over
top of it, we can see that fish.
Okay, and we can really zoom in, because you can.
We can zoom in, we can seewhat's going on there, and we do
.
We can tell instantly if you'vetaken a photo off someone
else's phone.
I mean, we've had guys and bigname guys text me a video and a

(52:14):
bunch of photos.
I'm like hey, man, a nice fish, congratulations, he goes.
Well, I don't know how to usethe app.
I'm like okay, well, keep thefish in the net, I'll walk you
through already.
Let it go.
Yeah, I'm buddy, I can't dothis.
I can't like you know, I knowyou're my buddy, but uh, you
know, we're all playing on thesame level here and that's the
way it is.
We, we do have, we do have uh,tough conversations, um, which

(52:35):
I'm good at, you know which isno problem, but that's how we're
running the tournament.

Speaker 1 (52:40):
So I noticed before you guys, could the contestants
or the people in the tournamentcould fish all through the night
, like 24 hours.
Is it still the same case?

Speaker 5 (52:49):
Great question.
We get this argument every yearfrom shore guys.
A lot of guys love to nightfish Right, but as you guys know
, fishing lake st claire, snagging fish is a huge issue.
We have this, uh, we have thisthing going.
It's been going on for aboutsix, seven years.
Whenever someone snags a fish, everyone starts chanting shame,

(53:09):
shame, shame the whole, entirechannel's chanting that.
So it you know.
I mean it's hard to uh not snfish there, but everyone's
watching you got eyes everywhere, no matter where you are.
Like I was fishing the lakelast year, I placed fifth and I
caught most of my fish out inthe lake, in the green water.
I wanted to kind of be awayfrom the crowd, so everyone's
saying you have to be in theThames.
You don't.
You can go out and still dowell.
But why we cut the nightfishing is because you know if

(53:34):
you snag a fish in the middle ofthe night no one would ever
know.
You can put a bait on with abunch of huge trebles and start
ripping that around and you'recatching fish and snagging them
by the tail and entering them.
That's not good, right.
So we cut it down.
It turned into a realtournament real fast.
Right Before it was just abunch of us buddies, I mean
there was 30, 40 of us and weall knew each other.
It was all fair game, this andthat.

(53:55):
Now we're dealing with hundredsof people.
So you got to have some strictrules.
So we're doing it from six to Ithink it was six to six.
So there's 12 hours there whereyou can fish right In the light
but yeah, in the morning it'sstill dark a little bit, but
when we rip those horns off it'spretty cool.
I can't wait to see this.

(54:20):
It's pretty wild seeing, uh,you know, 150 baits hit the
water at the same time.
It's just the sound.
You don't hear anything else.
No one's talking, everyone's ingame mode, zoned right in.
Everyone's casting around allyear it's wild.

Speaker 1 (54:26):
Another question I have for you I'm for some reason
tiger musky, love my baits.
I catch a lot of good tigermusky.
Could I enter a tiger muskyky?
Could I enter a tiger muskyinto?

Speaker 5 (54:37):
this.
You can enter a tiger musky inthis.
We were actually Graham and Iwere having a conversation where
we actually might put another$500 to $1,000 in the side for
the biggest tiger musky of theweekend Tone.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
That's cool you would have won that five years in a
row.
Tone, let me off.

Speaker 1 (54:51):
Let me off my shift of serving food man.
Didn't you just lose a tigerwith Cody?
Yeah, and I've popped a 48before and it's I love.
For some reason, the tigersalways find my bait and I love
them.
I just love them.
And yeah, that's cool, you cando tigers Wow.

Speaker 5 (55:07):
Yeah, so I mean we might have a little extra.
You know, cash on the sideDepends how many people we have,
right?
So everyone's asking me everyday hey, what's the payout this
year?
We won't know until cutoff date, which is usually two weeks
prior to the tournament.
Okay, and then everyone getspumped.
That's incredible man.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
I have a question for you, dave.
So you have the Shore Ninjasand you're going to have guys
fishing from shore at Bell Riveras well.
Right, correct.
So there's going to beobviously people check-ins at
different parts.
Where are the boundaries onLake St Clair, or can you
absolutely fish this thinganywhere?

Speaker 5 (55:44):
Nope, great question.
So Canadian waters only.
Okay, so that's basically halfthe lake, and in the rules we
actually have as far down as Iforget what the island is called
in Detroit there.
It's not that far, but it stillhits all the primo spots.
And then we have up the StClair River to a certain area as

(56:05):
well.
All this stuff is in the rulesand regulations.
You can read up on that.
But other than that Canadianwater, you're free to go in the
lake anywhere.
And we, what we do is in themorning.
So I have guys on payroll withthe drones and I say one guy
stays local and you charge thosebatteries and anyone you see
start ripping across the lakes, follow them, just so you can

(56:26):
kind of see where they are andthe area they are, and that way
we can kind of go over there.
We can hover the drones overTapia and we have a sticker you
have to put on top of your motorso we can see it from the sky,
so we're not just hovering overrandom boats.
So we have, we give you threestickers in the morning at your
first check-in.
You put one on the top and youput one on either side of your
motor.
That way we can tell who'swhere and who's in the brawl

(56:49):
right.
That's incredible one time.

Speaker 1 (56:51):
Uh, we were there during one of your brawls.
It was maybe second year.
One year you had the drones.
Anyways, we weren't enteredinto your tournament.
So I was fishing.
I was with either Tone or Luis.
I get one.
All of a sudden, I'm here.

Speaker 2 (57:07):
I was with me.
I'm like I was with me.
What's going on, man?
I'm like what's going on?

Speaker 1 (57:13):
And it hovers right down.
And then I'm thinking, man, like am I famous right now?
This is my moment.
And then I realized thetournament was going on.
I think I checked for a stickeron the boat and then just
didn't see one and then split, yeah, and I was just like what
was that?

Speaker 5 (57:26):
It's pretty cool, yeah, because people are always
like, hey, how do you know ifsomeone's cheating?

Speaker 1 (57:29):
Yeah that's impressive, man Wow.

Speaker 5 (57:33):
We have.
You know, like I said, grahamand I don't make any money off
of the pay-in right, so we takea lot of money off the top.
We pay who we have to pay tomake it nice and secure and
there's no cheating.
I mean we haven't had anycheating issues yet.
You know, fingers crossed, knock on wood, yeah, but you
know let's got eyes on eachother.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
That's what I was going to say, muskie guys are
very.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
you know they'll be vocal.
Yeah, you know it's a tightcommunity.
Oh, buddy, and like, look whatI went through salmon fishing
all those years.
I mean look what it's come tonow.
You got people netting fish andyou're people walking on rivers
and we talked about this lastepisode.
I won't get fired up again, butI think the muskie community is
different, so you go to.

Speaker 5 (58:20):
You go to these tournaments and these events,
like I just came back fromunleash the beast and you know,
it's just the.
The community is amazing.
We all know each other.
You know we're all kind ofdoing the same thing.
We're all there for the samereason.
Um, you know, whether you're afemale or male, we're all there
for the exact same reason.
We want to get that bite.
We're addicted to it.
We grind hard At Unleash theBeast.

(58:41):
After breakfast everyone's gone.
We don't see each other untilnighttime, and even at nighttime
everyone's pooched out and wejust go to bed.
It's just, we're there for onereason and one reason only, and
that's to get that big bite forthe bragging rights.
That's our thing.
This is our hobby.

Speaker 2 (58:53):
So, you know the bragging rights.
That's our thing, this is ourhobby, yeah, you know.
So one more question I have foryou, dude.
All these questions I've hadwaiting to ask and you forget
half of them, but this one justcame back to me and I'm glad it
did.
Obviously, you fish, you fish.
You're a really, really goodstick.
Obviously, graham's a greatstick when you see the fellow
guys coming are you competitiveenough to say I want to beat

(59:21):
that guy?

Speaker 5 (59:26):
I, honestly, I just think that when I'm out there
fishing, the guy who grinds thehardest and the guy who puts the
most casts and you got to knowwhat you're doing too is going
to do the best.
So when I'm out there and I seesomeone else, I'm casting
harder than they are, I'm tryingsomething different than they
are, and you know, everyone hastheir own intuition of you know
how to get this fish to bite, you know.
But no, I'm not verycompetitive at all.

Speaker 2 (59:47):
That's crazy, because you look at Dave and he's
intimidating in a sense, whereyou see this guy on the boat
casting with Graham and it'sjust like right away I would be
like, oh my God, that's the teamyou got to beat, right there,
that's the team that you want tobe.
And I mentioned that to Grahambecause he was under the willow
tree that one time we werefishing and I remember watching

(01:00:09):
he hooked into two fish and wewere cruising around that red
marker and I just your eyes arebeaded on him because you have
that competitive nature and he'slike that guy's the best, those
guys are the best.
I want to either do whatthey're doing or I want to land
a fish right in front of them.

Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
I know he doesn't have a real competitive nature
because he's always giving tips.
Right, dave, you're not shy ofwhat you're using.
No, some musky anglers, somebass anglers, everyone, a lot of
them are hush, hush, hush.
Yeah, you know what I mean.
They don't like to.
Obviously you're not givingyour spots and all that stuff,
your GPS coordinates, but you'renot.
You're not shy to show theMedusa you like to use, with

(01:00:47):
weights on it.
You know what I mean.
You definitely could, butyou're definitely you're putting
it out there and I respect that.
I really do.

Speaker 5 (01:00:57):
I was a guide at one time in my life.
I just just helping people andjust showing people what I'm
doing and you know it comes withexperience.
You know, at one time I wasasking I still ask questions
like crazy, right?
You know you can never stoplearning.
You can't be that know-it-all.
You know a lot of know-it-allsand you can't be like that.
If you want to be better, askeveryone everything, put your

(01:01:17):
own system together.
You start seeing patterns ifyou ask enough questions from
people.

Speaker 1 (01:01:23):
No, it's so right, because I find the four of us
that fish together all the time,we still learn, but we're all
doing similar methods.
Then I go on the boat withsomeone like Matt back in the
day.
He's doing something different.
I'm like, holy shit, I neverthought of that.
You know what I mean.
So the more people you're withand you're always learning in
this, you're always learningfishing, never stop, never stop.

(01:01:45):
What species, then?
What I was surprised about youwas I always.
Anyways, your social media isfantastic, by the way, if anyone
wants to follow you.
Thanks, buddy, it's really good.
I always thought you were justa diehard muskie, that's it.
I'm only casting for them andthat's the only thing I'm going
to go after.
But boy, you pop.
You pop other species too, likeI mean, we are the Eating Wild

(01:02:07):
podcast.
You harvest your own food a lotof times, but let's talk about
some of the other species youlike to go after.

Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
I grew up on the Lake Superior shore, right Bass.
I chirp bass guys all the timeon my social media but everyone
knows I'm just having a goodtime, yeah.
But bass, steelhead brook, trout, all pike, you know salmon
I was out a lot for salmon thisyear.
Yeah, I saw that.
I love them all.
I love to be out there.
I mean, listen, when you're outfishing, no matter what it's

(01:02:32):
for, and you're fishing forwhatever that species is and you
catch a big one, you know it'sa big one, it's exciting.
Like I love steelhead fish, Ijust won the Steel Dreams event.
No way, my first time everentering.
I won five grand against 120guys, whatever it is, and that's
just all stuff I learnedgrowing up.
When you're fishing foranything, it's not hard.

(01:02:54):
People listen.
When you're fishing foranything, it's not hard.
Listen, there's all kinds ofdifferent techniques and things
and trying to find these things, but just get out there.

Speaker 4 (01:03:00):
That's how you're going to learn.

Speaker 5 (01:03:01):
Just get out there and start fishing and ask
questions.
That's all you got to do.
Well said.

Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
Yeah, that's all you got to do.
Now we mentioned the EatingWild podcast.
Obviously, food is a big aspectof what we talk about and,
going back to the early days ofthe Eating Wild podcast, when we
got to have you on as a guest, you had a really intriguing
story and still to this day, Istill talk about it.

Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
We get a lot of listeners all the time asking
about your story and how theyrelated to it.
They're related to the game.
If you want to get to.

Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
Well, after that podcast I got to say after that
podcast, I had, you know, six, seven guys reach out to me
saying hey, listen, I also havemultiple sclerosis.
Right, how are you doing this?
You know, this is themedication I'm on and I'm still
friends with those people, I'mstill kind of coaching them.
That's really cool Because ofyour podcast.
A lot of people have MS.
You know, it ruins that'sreally cool.
Because of your podcast.
A lot of people have MS.

(01:03:55):
It ruins a lot of people'slives because they don't know
how to handle it Right.
But I mean, listen, you got todo your own research.
That's what I did when I waslaying in that hospital bed.
I picked up books, I startedresearching.
I never want to be like thisagain.
I want to.
You know, I can't use my arms,my legs here.
You know I want to fish, I wantto hunt, I want to be myself
and you know that was four yearsago, five years ago, whatever

(01:04:18):
it was, and today I'm in thebest shape of my life.
And it all comes down to what Ieat, what I put in my body, and
a huge part of that is meat.
You know the nutrients in meat, especially wild meat or organic
meat or grass fed meat doeswonders for the body.
You know it's expensive, butit's worth it sometimes.

Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
Now walk us through a little bit, because I don't
know if this is true or not.
I heard that you were fishingone time and you couldn't feel
your foot, and that's when youkind of had the early symptoms
of the MS.
Is that true?

Speaker 5 (01:04:51):
I was fishing sarnia walleye.
It was 2, 3 in the morning, okay, and you know that drive
back to London.
Yeah, when I was living inLondon, um, I was driving and I
felt something warm.
I looked down and I pissedmyself Really, yeah, and I'm
like what the fuck is that?
What's going on here?
I I chalked it up to being apinched nerve because my left

(01:05:11):
leg went numb as well when I gotout of my car that night.

Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
So, which was weird so I went to the hospital.
They did a bunch of scans.
They said nothing's going onhere.
I went home.
Next thing, you know, thatnumbness sneaked down my leg
into my foot and it startedsneaking down my uh, the same
side arm.
And so I went back in I saidthere's something going on here.
You know they did a bunch oftests.

(01:05:35):
Next thing, you know, thisleg's going numb too while I'm
there, oh my goodness.
And I was there for hours.
I was there all day at thehospital.
He finally came back, he lookedme right in the eyes and he goes
we found your brain is litteredwith lesions and your spine is
littered with lesions.
I said what's a lesion?
I didn't even know what ms wasat the time, right, and he looks
at me.
He goes sir, you got ms and Ididn't.

(01:05:58):
I didn't even know how tohandle that or digest that.
And uh, and that's kind ofwhere it all began.
I went home and it just gotworse and worse.
And uh, next thing, you know itwas so bad.
Um, you know, I was gettingspoon fed my meals and I went to
the hospital and they put me ona Predosterone like 1500
milligrams of Predosteronesteroids for like 14 days.

(01:06:19):
It was like unnatural and I wasa vegetable in there.
But I just started reading and Iwas scared, shitless, and I
just started reading books andcontacting people, getting on
Facebook groups, and I juststarted educating myself nonstop
and I went on a diet that tothis day I still haven't went
back on, but it pulled me out ofmy MS and now I've been eating

(01:06:42):
healthy and working out everysingle day and staying on top of
it, never going to go back.
And I've also had argumentswith the neurologist there for
two years straight.
And now they bring in otherstudents and they're asking me
like a whole book of questionson how I'm shrinking my lesions
almost to the point where theycan't even.
I still got a big one on mybrain, right, but the ones in my
spine are almost disappeared, like I'm reversing my MS.

(01:07:02):
Good for you.
Yeah, that's a great Comesright down to what you put in
your body and fasting.

Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
Wow, yeah, speaking of fasting, I had to do that the
last few days.
Siege was the first time for meand it's tough man Mentally,
like I'm a chef, it's so hardfor me not to taste anything.
I'm cooking every single dayand yesterday again I had to
fast for a couple of tests I hadto take and cooking every day

(01:07:31):
and not being able to taste theseasoning or making sure that
the pasta is al dente or if it'sovercooked.
You know what I mean.
It was really hard, but I youknow it's funny Dave says that
because a lot of the people thatI cook for, a lot of the you
know, actors and actresses andstuff and people just on set in
general, say that fasting isprobably the healthiest thing

(01:07:53):
you could possibly do to yourbody, because it almost resets.
You probably have a lot moreeducation on this, dave, than I
do, but basically from theknowledge that I've been
learning is that your bodyresets and it gives your body
time to say, hey, get all thisshit out of my body, start
putting in the proper stuff, andI'm going to adjust to that.

Speaker 5 (01:08:15):
And not only that, it cleans out your blood and if
you have a cancer, I mean, youcan fast your way out of a
cancer.
This is real stuff.
The thing is is it doesn't makea big farm money, Right?
So I went against the grain,Like these guys were begging me
to take this medication for MS.
He goes.
He looks at me, he goes, everyone's taking the medication
, he goes.
You have tons of options and Ijust said no.

(01:08:38):
Not one single time have youbrought up any natural way to
kind of stay on top of mysymptoms here.
Interesting, that's crazy.
So, I went on my own and I didit on my own, going against all
of those neurologists anddoctors' word, and I have trust
issues with doctors now becauseof it, and now they're asking me
questions.
I go now more often becausethey want to know how I'm doing

(01:09:00):
it.
You keep that inflammation downin your body.
It does wonders for your body.
Our food pyramid is absolutelyso screwed up, messed up Gluten,
sugar, lectin, all that stuff.
Keep it out of your body, evenfor one month, and I swear to
God, you'll never feel better inyour life Incredible.

Speaker 1 (01:09:18):
That's, that's so how long do you think you had?
Well, you still say you have MS.
How long do you think you?

Speaker 5 (01:09:28):
actually, like you had it before, ms is incurable
and it's apparently it's, it's,it's with you your whole life.

Speaker 1 (01:09:32):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
You know, your body gets to a point where it's so
inflamed for such a long periodof time, the lesions grow and
next thing, the lesions kind ofhit something in your head.
That's why it's different foreverybody.
Okay, you know it's incurable, but you can stay on top of it.
All you got to do is make somelife changes, and that's harder
than it sounds.
Some people that I coach I'mcoaching this one guy right now

(01:09:53):
he would message me and make I'mlike just be honest with me,
have you eaten any gluten?
Because he's telling me hissymptoms are back.
He goes Dave, I just can't doit.
He goes.
I go to work.
I'm starving.
I got to go get a burger.

Speaker 4 (01:10:06):
You know, I got to eat something, the convenience.

Speaker 5 (01:10:08):
And that gluten and that, and you just keep building
that up in your stomach stomach, it's going to destroy you.
You know that's interesting.
That's why, if you are going toeat gluten, even to this day,
six days a week, I'm strictdieting.
But then there's a day whereI'm, you know, I can eat
whatever I want.
My body can handle it.
But the day after that, you betI'm doing a 20 to 24 hour fast

(01:10:29):
minimum, right, your body willeat that up, clear everything
out and just get rid of it andyou'll be back down to no
inflammation in no time.

Speaker 2 (01:10:37):
So it's funny because you don't really have to.
It's not like Dave doesn't eatburgers.
You know, once a week he'sgoing to smash a Big Mac,
whatever it is that he wants toeat.
It's just training your body, Iguess, to be healthy 90% of the
time.
You know that 10% that yousplurge on I mean it's you know

(01:10:57):
we're getting to an age.

Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
see, it's starting to scare me man, and it's all this
, the more I'm hearing.
It's just all this, like all ofthe artificial stuff they're
putting in foods now, preservatives and everything
like that, and it's just likeyou look at strawberries when I
grew up, strawberries were thesize of like a nickel
strawberries.
When I grew up, strawberrieswere the size of like a nickel,
and now they're like size oflike a baseball.

(01:11:20):
And I'm like what's going onhere, matt, you know what I mean
.
So it's just like everything isbigger, you know, like our
fruits and vegetables and allthat stuff.
And then you go organic andthat's the thing I was going to
ask you about is I find that theonly problem with this health
thing in, unless you'reharvesting it for yourself, it's
obviously a lot cheaper, but alot of this organic stuff is

(01:11:42):
expensive.

Speaker 5 (01:11:43):
It is, it is, but there's a lot of things that are
that they say is organic, thatyou don't need to buy and eat.
Right Right, like like anavocado.
Okay, you know, the inside ofthat avocado is the same as
inside of an organic avocado, even with strawberries and those
fruits.
Put them in some baking sodaand water, let them sit for half
an hour.
That'll shut all that stuff offMost of it.

(01:12:04):
Eating that stuff is stillbetter than grabbing a burger or
some sort of processed anything.
People don't realize that takinginflammation out of your body.
If you look at photos of mefour or five years ago, I look
five or six years older than Iam now.
Wow, yeah, I'm reversing.
Fasting and eating healthy doeswonders for the body, obviously

(01:12:25):
working out too Right right.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
I'm looking forward to his book.

Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Yeah, I was going to say, man, when's your podcast
coming out?

Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
Yeah, podcast book this is I'm coming out.
Yeah, podcast book this is.
This is I'm learning a lot, man.
And and you hear about thepreservatives.
I think I saw a video, why?
I think I saw a video a longtime ago and it was with the
mcdonald's burger and they letit sit for a long period of time
.
Yeah, and it didn't go bad.
You know what I mean.
And it just it stays like atwinkie well, you know, like a

(01:12:52):
twinkie never.
Yeah, it has a shelf life of solong and with all these
preservatives in there.
And you hear about like youngerpeople having these autoimmune
diseases now, and it's not justlike people are having health
issues at a younger age than youbefore it would be in your 60s
or you know, but now you hearpeople in their 30s and anxiety

(01:13:17):
and all that stuff.
Now, like I mean all this stuffit's I don't know, man, I think
a lot to do with your guthealth.

Speaker 5 (01:13:23):
A hundred percent If you don't stay on top of all
that stuff stress and depressionyou guys know what's going on
right now in my life.
It's just like staying on topof all that stuff, staying
healthy, you know, staying ontop of depression and stress and
stuff like that, it will saveyour life.
Eating healthy and doing all ofthese things.
You know, I've seen a lot offriends cripple because of
depression and stress, but ifyou're on top of your health and

(01:13:44):
you have a good, strongmentality, you're good to go.
You know, like I said to youguys before, all of these things
combined including like, evenlike a strong circle of friends
pushing you and encouraging youit's just, it's such an
important thing yeah you knowyou gotta stay on top of your
health.

Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
It's number one, yeah and it's one thing as men we
don't talk about enough.
You know what I mean.
There's this, thisstereotypical.
You know, guys, we're good,we're good.
You know what I mean.
Don't worry about, I'll feelbetter, I'll have a beer.
You know what I mean.
As, as guys, I think a lot morelike you talk about with your
circle of friends.
If someone's down, you know isis to talk with your friends,

(01:14:21):
and in this there's still thatold mentality of like the
caveman thing, you know, likeand all that.
But man, I'm learning a lottone, this is a good one this is
a this is a.
This is a really good episodewhen davy g game.

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
The game came to town .
We knew it was going to be aninteresting episode.

Speaker 4 (01:14:36):
We got tea.

Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
This could go many different ways, oh man.
But listen man, we're soexcited to be a part of this
Muskie Brawl.
It's amazing, I can't believe.
The last time we talked to youon the microphone was at the
Toronto Sportsman.

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Show Correct, it was.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
It was spring and I remember you sitting next to me
there and you're like big thingsare happening.
Big things are going to happen.
We're like a month away, man.
I know Just over a month what'shappening.
Man, where are you now withthis?
What are the final proceduresto get this thing started?

Speaker 5 (01:15:10):
We need to get everything organized.
We're going to do a bunch ofstuff.
Graham and I are still tryingto reach out to sponsors and
donators from last year.
We're still trying to get ontop of how do we get more
sponsors, more donations andstuff like this.
I mean, we have a strongrelationship with the community.
We do have a lot of peoplewho've been with us for a long
time, but we're still trying tonavigate how to make the prizes

(01:15:33):
bigger, make these, trying tonavigate how to make the prizes
bigger.
Right, you know, make thesesponsorships bigger.
How do we, how do we do this?
But honestly, just likeanything else, it takes time.
I still gotta.
I gotta build this brand up.
You know the musky brawl is abrand at this point.
Um, you know, I told you guyssomething about my podcast
earlier that I want to start.
Yeah, you know, it can.
We can all, you can blend allthat stuff in and I think it's

(01:15:53):
gonna going to be a really coolthing, a big thing.
But one thing with Graham and Iwhen we put our minds to
something and we want to makesomething happen, we build each
other up, we support each other,we get it done.
We have some big plans for thebrawl in the future.
This year our goal is to get atleast 180 to 200 guys.
So if anyone's listening andwants to be part of the brawl,
follow Um.
So if anyone's listening andwants to be part of the brawl,

(01:16:14):
follow our Facebook pages atMusky Brawl on Facebook and at
Musky Brawl on Instagram.
Get ahold of us.
I run both those pages.
You can talk to me and ask meany questions you have.
If you're coming from far andwide, I do work with the locals.
We have, uh, you know, commendations available right
now.
I still think, but uh, yeah, Imean, big things happen with the
brawl.
We have you guys coming on ohyeah I think that's really cool.

(01:16:35):
At the end of each day, usuallywe bring in whoever's winning
that day on the top of the board, because it's a live board
everyone's watching oh, yeah, when you're on the water and you
hear that donkey sound likeeveryone gets pissed off right.
That means there's a new leaderbut, we have that person come
into the to the coves landing.
We interview with them, likewhat?

Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
are you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
how do you feel leading day number one against
200 guys you know?
And now you guys can take thatguy.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
That's gonna be great and do your thing see, it's one
of those things when we getthat guy, it could be dave, for
all we know, or a woman, or awoman.
Yeah, so we're a shore, ninjahey, I've all.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
I have daughters, so I'm going for the girls I'm a
dad.

Speaker 5 (01:17:13):
There's some sticks entering this year.

Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Yeah, I'm all about the women.
I'm so excited for this.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Yeah, and the first question.
You know, what do you ask anangler that's at the top in
first place right now?
What did you use?
What were the conditions like?
How did you land the fish?
Fast retreats.
So there's so many questions.
How did you feel?

Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
When you hook a fish during the brawl, nothing is
more exciting, because we do bigfish as well.
Yeah Right, so you can have afish that's worth thousands of
dollars at the end of your line,oh my God.
And you're looking at your net, man, and you're saying, if you
what's up, we are no longerfriends and I need a new boat
guy tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
I can't even think of that man.

Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
So Antonio and I are going to.
We're going to be fishing.
We're not part of the brawl,we're going to probably just be
fishing.
We're going to do something.
We're either going to go duckhunting that day after we serve
or we'll be fishing.
But with our luck, if we fish, you know it's going to be like a
double nickel, maybe 55.
And it's just going to be likewhat the heck?
But no, we're glad to supportit in whatever we can do and if

(01:18:15):
any of our listeners arelistening to this and they want
to reach out to look to sponsoryour event, you can drop into
the Eating Wild Instagram andany donations that you guys.
Is that what you're looking for?
Any kind of prize packs?

Speaker 5 (01:18:28):
Donations, sponsorships, anything like that
.
I mean, we have a lot going onright now, but we would love to
hear from you and we can talk, have a conversation.
Another thing I wanted to add, just kind of, you know, to add
on what you're saying there.
Yeah, this is a tournament.
There's a reason why it'scalled the Muskie Brawl.
Yeah, we are all out therecluster in one area.
Yeah, yeah, you know, we're allfishing 15 feet away from a

(01:18:51):
boat.
This is a, but there's a lot offish being caught.
So if you've never fished LakeSt Clair and you're intimidated
by the muskie brawl, don't be,don't be Every year.
The top there's two or threeguys in the top that have never
fished Lake St Clair ever and200 plus muskies get entered
every single brawl.
Basically, right, right, comeout, float around, you're going

(01:19:12):
to catch fish and you have agood chance of winning some
money.

Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
That's a good point because I bet you a little, some
people are discouraged to enterit and be like it's a boys club
or you know what I mean thatit's going to be, you know.
But no, that's a good point.
And let's face it, LSE,everyone's got a shot you do.
Everyone's got a shot you got ashot.

Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
And if you're going to go fish a tournament and with
that kind of prize, with thatkind of money, the parties, the
community, so involved, siegefor 250 bucks.
Yeah, that's cheap.
Yeah, I mean, I've fishedtournaments for bass.
I've fished, you know, many, many tournaments.

Speaker 1 (01:19:50):
We fished for times of 250 bucks.
For 250, a lot of tournamentswould pay out, and I'm not
knocking any of thesetournaments, but you mean 250,
you know 1500?
Yeah, and it's good money.
It's good money.

Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
But the dough that David G is talking about, even
for a female angler possiblywinning dough on a muskie.
So even Tone could win If wefill up.

Speaker 5 (01:20:07):
sorry, if we fill up, we're going to be seeing
$50,000 get spread out, nice andevenly Like.
We're going to have a $10,000plus first, but you're also
going to see $8,000, $9,000 forsecond, $6,000, $7,000 for third
, and so be it all the way down.
We like to spread everythingout.
I don't like to have a huge$20,000 first place, I like to

(01:20:28):
have the fourth place.
Guy, like last year, I wasbattling for fourth place to win
, you know, four or $5,000.
You know what I mean.
That's a lot of dope man.
I came a quarter of an inchaway from hitting the money.
I was so pissed off Quarter ofan inch.

Speaker 1 (01:20:42):
And you don't need these big fancy boats to get out
there to do this.
No, you don't need all.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
You can fish from the shore.

Speaker 1 (01:20:47):
You don't need the pan optics or the live scope,
this, and that you don't need it.
No, you don't need all this andyou can just go.
And that's the thing with LSC.
I can get lazy on that lake andsometimes I don't do a full
figure eight and I'm slappingmyself because you know they're
down there, they're down there, tons of them.
You can't be lazy.

(01:21:08):
You can't be lazy on thatFigure eight.
Every one I'm eating, eatingwild sandwich.
Tell Tony, he's amazing, he hasa great haircut.

Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
You just made up a good point that I got to ask
Dave a question.
Okay, you said the figure eight.
Are you allowed two rods onbecause I know LSE you're
allowed two rods.
Are you allowed two rods in thetournament per person?
Yes, yes.
But you're not allowed to befishing them.

Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
No, but you can, you know you can have a stinger,
right, no stinger no stinger rod.

Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
No, so there's you.

Speaker 5 (01:21:36):
So only one bait in the water one day in the water
per person, yeah I got five rodsin my boat at all times, but I
mean I know what antonio'sgetting at, because with that
lake there each fisherman canhave two rods.
We have we had someone, so wehave a big musky brawl group.
When you, when you join thefacebook page, you can opt into
the chat there, which is a goodidea, because people are asking
questions like that all the time.

Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
And I see you answer them all the time, by the way,
which is fantastic.

Speaker 5 (01:21:57):
I got to answer them right, because everything has to
be clear, because people aresaying hey, listen, I know if
I'm using my trolling motor andI'm jigging and I'm trolling
down there, that's trolling.
You got to be stationary in onearea, spot lock and jigging.
Because you're jigging andcasting, okay, trolling.
If your boat is moving andyou've got your bait down there
and it's moving along with theboat, that's trolling Right.
That's trolling Right.
So you've got to be stationary, anchored when you're jigging,

(01:22:21):
yeah, and you have to just becasting.

Speaker 1 (01:22:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:22:24):
At any given time.
That's amazing man.

Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
No, that's good to know, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:22:36):
Anytime we move spots Siege we're trolling, yeah, and
let me be clear.
I mean, if you're fishingDetroit, your boat is stationary
, but you're also flowing downwith the current.
Don't worry about that.
We know you're jigging there.

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Yeah, incredible brother.
Well, listen, man, we're pumpedup this musky brawl this year
and for the future.
I mean, we uh siege.
This is something that theforeskins have been already.
Literally we've been a part ofthis, because every single year
we go or we see the musky brawl,we talk about it all the time

(01:23:09):
and for us to be a part of thisman.
We're just super excited to dothis with you we're honored to
have you guys.

Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
Thanks for, uh, you know, putting your hand up and
listen.
These are.
I know it's the 10th annual, but these are the early years of
the brawl.
It's only started getting bigover the last four years.
So you guys showing up rightnow, another 10 years from now,
I promise you this is going tobe one of the biggest things
going on Lake St Clair.

(01:23:34):
We're going to parade going.

Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Yes, we need a country star.
If you're listening right now,any country singer reach out to
Smash or Showtime or Davey G.

Speaker 5 (01:23:42):
We've already talked about this.
We're going to put some moneyaside and get some big you know
some big talent there, becausewe do have live music.
Imagine getting an actual namethere.
Get the communities involvedinvolved like the musky brawl is
popping yeah, you're gonna see.

Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Actually, uh, probably this year.
No, not this year because hehas to go to way in edmonton uh,
but next year tone is gonnafight cody kovanchak in the bell
river parking lot.

Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
Let's go, cody.
If you're listening, listencody.
You're gonna have to gainweight to fight this guy all
right, so it's gonna be.
You're not cutting weight tofight this guy, you're gaining.
Let's go that to be awesome.

Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
So I don't know if we mentioned this on the podcast,
but we were together when wewatched Cody's fight.

Speaker 1 (01:24:19):
Yes, yes, that was a fun night.
Boys, buddy, we're alwayssomehow connected with you, no
matter what Like we're, somehowwe're always there.
And I felt like I've known youobviously for years and but a
lot longer.
And, yeah, we were on with thesame circles and, yeah, for our
listeners, you know you werethere with some of your boys and

(01:24:39):
we had a good night man.

Speaker 5 (01:24:41):
It was incredible.
And Cody won.
We all freaked out, oh man.

Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
I think you were in tears.

Speaker 5 (01:24:45):
I was in tears.
Yeah, I was.
I was proud of him.

Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
Yeah, man, I remember talking to you before his fight
and we're having a drink at thebar.
Good kid and yeah, really goodkid and you and I were like I'm
nervous for him, man.
It felt like my son, like youknow what I mean.
I barely knew him.
We had him on the podcast and Ihad butterflies in my stomach
for him and the way he won withthe calf slicer Calf slicer.

Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
We had friends that we played Call of Duty with kids
literally friends and I had noidea what the calf slicer was.
And we're playing Call of Dutyand they're like, hey, siege,
your buddy Cody won with thecalf slicer.
Bro, that's insane.
I'm like what?
