Meet another recent Eau Claire Marathon runner with aninteresting story. Brian Rice is not only a runner attempting to participate in an event in every state, but one whohas overcome what for many is a fatal blow. A couple of years ago he suffered from a cardiac event while running arace in Kansas. His heart stopped completely 12 miles into a race but thankfully two medical personnel also in the race came along within 30 seconds.
What does he remember from the event and how has it impacted his life? Why has he continued and where does he draw the inspiration to resume running?
The Kentucky native is nearing 50 total events and justshort of 40 states. He started off doing small 5ks before building up to doing marathons. What led him to Eau Claire, amarathon he didn’t initially plan on doing?
