Burnout doesn't always look like quitting your business to embark on a decade-long yoga retreat. For many high-achieving entrepreneurs, it manifests in subtle ways you might not recognize until you're deep in the weeds. As someone who identifies as an overachiever and natural hustler, I discovered my burnout showed up as peculiar patterns that I initially dismissed as personality quirks.

Do you find yourself creating endless launch plans only to pivot at the last minute? Perhaps you're working diligently behind the scenes while completely avoiding social media visibility. Maybe you've abandoned the very practices—meditation, journaling, breathwork—that once kept you grounded. These aren't simply indecision or procrastination; they're warning signals your body and business are sending before complete collapse.

Throughout this episode, I share my personal journey with entrepreneurial burnout, revealing the hidden symptoms I experienced and the practices that brought me back. From meditation and voice work to EFT (tapping) techniques, discover practical tools to reconnect with your body and business purpose. You'll learn why building sustainable systems is ultimately the best prevention—allowing your business to scale without demanding every ounce of your energy. If you've been feeling stuck, disconnected, or caught in loops of indecision, this conversation might be exactly what you need to recognize and heal the burnout you didn't know you had. Welcome to today's episode ofEffortlessly Productive.
Have you ever experiencedburnout?

(01:26):
I know that I, especially inthe entrepreneurial world, have
heard so many people talk aboutburnout, about that feeling
fried, about all the things thatgo along with burnout, and
jokingly talking aboutentrepreneurs who have hit that
burnout stage and they go onthat like 10-year yoga retreat

(01:48):
and you never see them again.
They never come back to theirbusiness because they worked so
hard for so many years and theyliterally just fried themselves
and while that definitely can bea sign that somebody has hit
burnout, where they literallypeace out on their business and
just don't really ever come backto it there are lots of hidden

(02:10):
signs of burnout that a lot ofpeople aren't aware of and I was
definitely not aware of this.
For me, burnout looked like alittle bit different than a lot
of people.
I am an overachiever, I am ahustler at heart.
I will work and work and workand work, and while those are

(02:30):
definitely things that lead toburnout, for me burnout did not
look like completely piecing outof my business or wanting to
quit.
I had some other signs ofburnout that I want to share
with you.
So some of my signs of burnoutof what I hit and I didn't even
realize that this was burnoutwas I would get stuck in these

(02:53):
loops of indecision where I waslike I'm going to launch this
program and then I would work onthat launch and I would have
everything ready to go and atthe last minute I would decide
that I wanted to launchsomething else and I would just
kind of go in these loops orthese cycles of creating all the
backend and being ready tolaunch and then being like, oh

(03:14):
wait, no, I have this other ideathat I really want to do, and
for me, especially when I wasstuck in these loops, it did not
really feel like burnout, because I was actually excited
about what I wanted to launch.
I was doing the work behind thescenes, but when it came to
actually launching I wouldchange my mind over and over and

(03:35):
over again, and that wasactually a hidden sign of
burnout that I didn't evenrealize.
So if that sounds familiar, itmight not be that you just don't
know what to do with yourbusiness, or you can't decide,
or you're wishwashy, or you'resomebody who just changes their
mind a lot.
That can actually be a sign ofburnout.

(03:58):
Another sign of burnout for mewas that I would just stop
posting on social media, and forme this again was very sneaky
because I was doing all theseother things in my business.
I was working with clients, Iwas creating a lot of stuff in
the background, I was doing alot of stuff on Canva.

(04:19):
As a buffering technique.
Buffering is where you aredoing something to avoid a
specific emotion, so I oftenbuffer with work activities.
So it feels like I'm busy, butit's something that's maybe not
the most important thing in mybusiness or moving the needle
forward, and what is reallyhappening is that you're

(04:41):
actually avoiding feeling acertain way right by doing these
other activities.
So for me, a lot of what thatlooks like was I would be
working really hard Again, I'dbe creating graphics, I would be
recording podcast episodes, Iwould be creating stuff for my
clients, I'd be creating newprograms all these ideas but I

(05:03):
was not present on social media,I was not posting, I was not
showing up Anything thatrequired me to really be visible
and visible on a consistentbasis.
I was avoiding that avoidanceof a whole area of business.
And it's not to say that youhave to post on social media,

(05:23):
but social media had always beena way that I use quite
effectively to market myself andmarket my business and to find
new clients, and I found myselfcompletely avoiding it.
I did eventually recognize thatthat was a sign of burnout and I
think part of it was.
I had been in this loop for solong of putting the pressure on

(05:46):
myself and following advice thatI had been given.
That maybe wasn't the bestadvice of you have to post three
times a day.
You have to create 10 to 15stories a day, so I was
following all of this guidance.
That was very out of alignmentfor myself, but what that led to
was that burnout, right Oftrying to keep up with this

(06:06):
schedule that was not inalignment with me, did not feel
good to me, was not the best useof my energy, and, rather than
finding a system that workedwell for me and was sustainable,
I just completely peaced outand again, that was a huge sign
of burnout that I experienced.
Another sign of burnout for mewas actually dissociating from

(06:29):
my body and what that means.
When you hear people talk aboutdissociation, that means that I
was not paying attention to howI actually felt in my body.
I was just staying up in myhead, I was just thinking of
that to-do list, the next thingto do, the next thing to do, the
next box to check, and I wasnever really checking in with

(06:51):
how I felt, how I felt in mybody.
A lot of what this dissociationlooked like was all of these
rituals.
I had a lot of things that Iwould go to like.
There was a spell where Imeditated every single day, and
what I didn't realize was inthose meditation sessions I was

(07:12):
actually really going into mybody and paying attention to how
I felt and honoring that andnot just trying to push through
but sitting with it and workingthrough the tough emotions,
working through the sensationsthat I was feeling.
And when I started todissociate, what I did was I
actually dropped all of thosethings that helped me tune into

(07:35):
myself and how I was feeling.
So meditation was an exampleJournaling I used to journal all
the time and I just completelystopped to that.
Even things just like as simpleas pulling a card from an
Oracle deck or lighting a candleand taking a minute to breathe
deeply and just again check intomyself.
I completely eliminated a lotof that and it brought about

(08:00):
that dissociation from myselfand my body.
But it also meant that I wasnot tapping into a lot of
rituals that I use as a means ofregulation, and the more and
more I did that, the more andmore dysregulated I got.
Then that was turning into alot of wobble energy in my
business and in my life, andwhat that also meant was that

(08:23):
burnout hit even faster.
I wasn't actually regulatingthat.
I was doing things that led tomore and more burnout, which it
was a vicious cycle.
As you can tell I think I'veused the word cycle quite a
number of times these thingsfeed themselves right.
So I wanted to talk about someother signs of burnout that

(08:44):
maybe you are experiencing oryou have experienced in the past
that are kind of sneaky signsof burnout that you might not
realize are actually burnout, but just things to pay attention
to.
That could be a sign that youare dabbling in that burnout or
you've been in burnout in thepast.
So a big one, which I did talka little bit about with my

(09:07):
social media, is going intohiding where you maybe are doing
work.
Right, we're doing work in thebackground, but we don't want
that visibility.
We're actually hiding frombeing present with other people
and being present on socialmedia, maybe being present with
our email list.
We're actually hiding frombeing present with other people

(09:29):
and being present on socialmedia, maybe being present with
our email list.
We're hiding from thoseinteractions with other, stuck.
That is a huge sign that youcould be experiencing some
burnout.
And often this comes withinaction, right, that feeling of
I know what to do but I'm notdoing it.

(09:51):
And I feel stuck.
And because I'm not doing thethings, I'm actually creating
more stuckness.
That whole spiral, that wholeloop can be a sign of burnout,
the indecision.
So this taps into what I sharedabout launching and being like
I'm going to launch this programand getting all excited and

(10:12):
building all the things and thenthe very last minute, you're
like, oh wait, but there's thisother thing that I really want
to do, and it can be sneakybecause it can mask itself right
.
You can actually be excitedabout these ideas, but then,
when it comes to actually doingthe thing, we enter this phase
of indecision where we're like,oh, I had this idea, but I'm

(10:33):
actually going to shift to thisother one, I'm actually going to
shift to this other one thatcan actually be a sign of
burnout.
If you have ever felt suffocated, like you can't breathe, like
you are just being crushed byyour business, by things going
on in life, if you've everexperienced some depression and

(10:55):
this is not to say that thereisn't clinical depression that
you need to treat, butdepression can actually be a
side effect it can be a sign ofburnout and then that
dissociation that I talked about.
If you have ever felt like youwere very disconnected from
yourself from your mission, fromwhy you started this in the
first place, even dissociatedfrom the other people around you

(11:18):
, right, dissociated from yourclients, that feeling that
you're not connected into yourclients, into groups or
masterminds that you're a partof those can all be sneaky signs
of burnout.
So what do we do if we areexperiencing burnout and when I
say burnout, yes, this can betaken to the very extreme, like

(11:40):
I talked about going on that10-year yoga retreat where you
literally just peace out fromyour business and don't come
back.
That would be a very extremesign.
Another extreme sign would benot being able to get out of
business bed, where you're soburned out you literally can't
even take that next step.
But it can also be thosesmaller things.

(12:01):
So maybe you're experiencingjust a couple of little signs.
So what do we do?
Some of the biggest things thatwe can do in order to come back
from that burnout and reallystart to heal that.
Whether, again, we're in a moreextreme case of it, or maybe we
just are like dabbling andmaybe it's not an everyday thing

(12:21):
, but maybe you're having a weekwhere you're like, oh, I am
just kind of done.
I really feel disconnected frommy mission, feel disconnected
from my clients.
How can we start to heal that?
So one of the best ways thatyou can heal that is again.
So one of the best ways thatyou can heal that is, again,
these things that help us tapback into ourselves.
That can look like doingmeditation, where we're spending

(12:45):
some time just sitting withourselves and sitting with our
feelings.
Another really fun thing thatyou can do is using your voice
right and feeling that voice.
Actually spending the time tolike feel that voice moving
through you, and whether that'syou are like saying a mantra
over and over or even justsinging, doing that kind of

(13:08):
thing can actually help us getback into our body and help us
dissipate some of that burnoutthat we may be experiencing
Another one of my go-tos.
So if you have ever heard of EFTor tapping, that is a really,
really good way to combatburnout.
If you are curious about that, reach out to me.

(13:29):
I love taking people throughtapping sessions and often
create tapping scripts forpeople.
So that is one of my mostfavorite fun things.
And if you are wanting to takeall of this to the next level,
just a little mention.
So my system seer playbookactually has an entire section

(13:51):
called the burnout resurrection, and it leads you through some
of these practices and how tobring yourself back, goes even
deeper into what these signs ofburnout look like and then how
to heal yourself from that, howto bring yourself back, and
these are things that we alsoneed to be aware.
This is not like a one and donelike oh, I did my meditation.

(14:11):
Burnout is gone forever.
No, there are going to be timesin your business where you go
through business and you'retotally fine and you're not
experiencing that burnout at all, and then you may have times
where you are kind of dabblingthere right on that edge, where
you're kind of dipping in andout, and those are the best
times before it gets to thepoint where we can't get out of

(14:35):
bed or we just want to peace outand leave our business forever.
Can't get out of bed, or wejust want to peace out and leave
our business forever.
We can do these little practicesthat are going to help us heal
that burnout, return toourselves, reassociate with our
body.
So if you are looking for somemore tools, if you are wanting
to experience EFT, especiallyrelated to burnout, that may be

(14:57):
included in the playbook.
So definitely head over to mywebsite and make sure that you
grab that the system, seercom.
I have all kinds of othergoodies in there, because
sometimes we're not in burnout,sometimes we're in a different
nervous system state thanburnout, and it has all the
tools there as well as actuallyhelping you build the business

(15:19):
systems, so that we can preventgoing into these nervous system
states to begin with, where ourbusiness is scaling and growing
and we're getting the results wewant without overworking
ourselves, without expending allof our time and energy, so that
we can pour our time and energyinto the things that we love
most.
So make sure you check out thesystem see your playbook.

(15:41):
Thank you so much for joining mefor today's episode.
