In this episode of Eighty Twenty, Shanina Shaik and George Sinclair kick off the new year with a very special episode recorded live at Spring Place in Beverly Hills. The hosts sit down to reflect on the lessons learned and personal growth achieved after a turbulent year in 2023 that led them to create the Eighty Twenty podcast. Getting candid about the personal challenges that led them to create the podcast, Shanina revisits her painful struggle with postpartum depression in the aftermath of giving birth while Georgia details her crisis of purpose and lack of fulfillment while playing shows and releasing music that didn't truly resonate. They also touch on how relationship problems and communication issues compounded their distress. At their lowest points, the women found healing through modalities like the intense Hoffman Process, as well as Changa (also known as Ayahuasca, a powerful plant medicine), which helped fundamentally shift their perspectives. They explain how these experiences taught them to let go of control, improve communication, and above all, know and love themselves more fully. Shifting to the present, the hosts share their excitement about the future of Eighty Twenty and plans to develop a broader wellness platform that can inspire others the way their podcast guests have educated them this past season. However, they emphasize that none of this would have been possible without going through hardship together and discovering opportunity in the process. As the conversation winds down, Shanina and Georgia touch on finding magic in even the most difficult times. They encourage anyone going through similar struggles to lean in and trust that your own version of happiness or fulfillment awaits on the other side of self-work and spiritual growth.
