Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right . We're here with , uh, attorney Robert
Navarre of traffic tickets 9 15. It's good to see you again.
Good to

Speaker 2 (00:05):
See you. You've been good. Good.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Very good . I'm good, man. Thanks. Yeah. So
it's been a while . I see that, uh, your business has
continued to thrive and you getlots of reviews, and you're
still defending traffic ticketsfor the city of El Paso and
surrounding counties, socongratulations to that.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
No, thank you. It's , uh, I've been very blessed ,
uh, in my life to be able to ,uh, do what I love. My passion
is representing clients , uh,defendants and , uh, criminal
matters. And I very fortunateto do that. It's, it's a
passion in my life , uh, having, uh, myself been involved in

(00:42):
having to defend myself againstthe government for a crime that
I'm alleged to have committedthat I didn't, I know what's
like , what

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Was that? What was it?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Uh , I've, I've been arrested. I've been , uh, put
jail for , uh, for publicintoxication, for , uh, for,
for speeding, for , uh, youknow, for , um, uh, uh, you
know, when I was, I, I, I jog alot. I exercise , and what got
me into , uh, doing traffictickets is I was giving a

(01:14):
ticket by an officer whoclaimed that he didn't see the
accident. He took one witnessinterview from the actual , uh,
person who hit me while I wasat a crosswalk and said that I
just ran right in front of him, which I knew was not true.
Right. And I was , uh, I wasabout , uh, 15 years old at the

(01:34):
time, and , uh, as I'm being ,uh, carted away on a stretcher
and I have a neck brace on andthere's medical personnel all
over me, the cop gets a ticketand he stuffs it down my neck
brace. Oh, wow. Uh , because hewas too lazy to try to get any
more statement from me at thehospital. He didn't wanna have

(01:55):
to go , uh, inconveniencehimself, trying to get all the
facts, which is often the caseis that , uh, the , these
police officers are in such ahurry and there's such pressure
and demand to write tickets forevery little thing, regardless
of whether or not they took any, uh, uh, relevant information
down. He gave me the ticket. Ifound out later, after I got

(02:15):
discharged from the hospitalthat I had received a ticket,
and , uh, I decided I'm gonnafight this because I knew it
was wrong. Mm-Hmm.
. And so I foughtit. I had actually , uh, was
able to get witnesses whowitnessed the accident, who saw
that I had the right of way and, uh, called them to testify,
and I won my case in court. Andthe judge told me, he said, you

(02:39):
handled and conducted yourselfbetter than a lot of attorneys
that I've seen come into thiscourtroom. And he told me, he
says, you need to be a lawyer.
You know , it was right thenthat I realized that that is my
passion in life, because mygreatest fear is the government
with all their power and alltheir resources. Mm-Hmm.
, anytime theyhave the ability to charge a

(02:59):
person with a crime that can beserious, that can affect their
future, it can affect theirpresent wellbeing, they can be
jailed, they can be locked up.
And that scares me. And so ,uh, having that fear of the
power of the government andbeing able to be that voice to
stand up to , uh, governmentwhen they, when they are wrong,

(03:21):
that's my passion. That's whatgets me up every morning, is,
is , uh, is fighting. So that, that what happened to me
doesn't happen to somebodyelse.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
That's awesome. So you became a tra that's how you
became a traffic ticket . Idon't know that that's an yes,

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Sir. That's, and that's what, that's why I'm so
passionate about this area of ,of criminal defense.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yeah. So, you know, I know you do traffic tickets.
Um, I read on your website, youguys do a lot of class C dis ,
class C misdemeanors, and Idon't know if we talked about
this last time, but , uh, youdo occupational driver's
licenses too, don't

Speaker 2 (03:54):
You? Yes, we do. Um, you know, that's another
problem that came about withthe traffic tickets is that
Texas used to have a pointsystem. They don't do it
anymore, fortunately. Mm-Hmm .
. But what willhappen is a person accumulates
a certain number of pointsbecause they have , uh,
convictions on the record for ,uh, traffic violations. The

(04:15):
state of Texas will actuallysuspend a person's license. You
can also get your licensesuspended in the event that
let's say , uh, you're , uh,arrested and charged with
driving while intoxicated. Youcan also get your license
suspended for if you get, receive a citation for not
having , uh, what we callfinancial responsibility, which
is insurance. So no

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Insurance.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Right. If you get a conviction on your record for
that, the state of Texas can ,uh, suspend your license. And
what happens is once you getyour license suspended, that's
can be very serious becauseanytime you're driving on a
suspended license, technicallyyou could be arrested for that.
And , uh, the other problem, ofcourse, is that any employer

(04:58):
that you wanna work for, oncethey do a background check and
they find out that your licensehas been suspended, it may
prohibit you from getting thatjob. And so , uh, what we do is
we give people a way to , um,have a license to be legal, to
be able to drive for purposesof war, for purposes of school

(05:18):
, uh, and to be legal so thatthey don't run into these types
of problems. So when they go totheir employer and say , uh,
you know, they find out if youhave a , uh, valid Texas
driver's license, you can sayno, but I do have a license
that allows me to drive forpurposes of work, and here's a
copy of it. And that's, that'slegal and that will save you a

(05:40):
lot of headaches and a lot ofproblems both from getting
tickets and , uh, allow you tothe opportunity to get , uh, a
job. So

Speaker 1 (05:47):
It's basically a driver's license, but it's
limited to an occupation forlike work or maybe you gotta
take your grandma out of thehospital or something, right?
Every to get dialysis orwhatever cor

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Correct. Correct. If you've got So

Speaker 1 (05:58):
It's spec , it's

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Specified. Yeah. If you've got , uh, purposes where
you need to drive for somebodywho's sick for any types of
medical care, for any kind ofnecessities , uh, and necessity
could be anything so that youcan , uh, go get groceries. So
you can get food , uh, you cando that legally with an
occupational license. That'sinteresting. So that when you
get pulled over, you don't runthe risk of getting arrested

(06:20):
because you're driving onsuspended license. So it's very
important that , uh, you get atthe very minimum , uh,
occupational license, which isjust like a driver's license,
and it allows you to continuedriving so that you are legal.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Well, that's a nice feature. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
And

Speaker 1 (06:35):
How long does it last the license?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Uh, you can get it for two years, and if you need
an extension after two years,we can refile with a court and
ask for an extension of anothertwo years. So you can , you can
have a occupational license fora couple years if you need to.
But most of, most of what Ifound from experience is that

(06:57):
generally , uh, it takes aperson , uh, approximately
about a year, year and a halfto get their license situation
worked out. What you have to dois you have to contact the DMV,
you're gonna have to pay somereinstatement fees. Uh, you may
have to take another drivingtest. It , it does take time
because , uh, the DPS text ,department of Public
Transportation is verybacklogged, very backed up.

(07:19):
They have tremendous waitingtimes, and a lot of people are
very busy. They don't have timeto be standing in line for
hours to try to talk tosomebody. Or if you try calling
the DPS, you can spend hoursjust waiting on hold on the
phone. And so it's a verylengthy time consuming process,
and a lot of people don't havethat time or luxury to get
their license worked out rightaway, or the money to pay the

(07:42):
reinstatement fees. And so whatthis does is it gives you a
opportunity to drive legally, save yourself all the headache
and time we file the petition.
We can usually get a person'soccupational license within a
few days. Mm-Hmm. . And it doesn't require you to
have to go to court. Uh, we, we, uh, we file it with a, with a
judge who will sign off an oran order once. We will ask you

(08:05):
for some , uh, a few paperworkthat we need to present to the
court once you hire us. Uh, wecan get you a occupational
license within approximatelythree to five days. And that's
all it takes. Pretty , prettyquick . You don't have really
do anything that's pretty quick.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
That's a pretty quick turnaround, sir . So we,
if people go to traffic ticketsnow in five, you basically
handle any of their drivingrelated issues. Do you do DWIs
or DUIs or anything like that?

Speaker 2 (08:28):
Yeah, we do. We do do DWIs. It does unfortunately
happen. It's quite , quitecommon. And yes, we do handle
those. And for those types ofserious matters, it's, it's
important that we go ahead andget all your information down
and then let me review it, andthen let me give you a call
because I like to meet withthose personally in person
because they're a much moreserious offense . Usually a

(08:48):
first DWI charge is a class Bmisdemeanor. Oh , okay. Which
can, can involve some jailtime, possibly. And so we, we
need to address those , uh, alittle bit more , uh, with
care, because we do, we dohandle any type of criminal
offense that you may , um,

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Yeah. And all your consultations are free so they
can get some advice on wherethe , what course they need to
take.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Absolutely.
Absolutely. Um , I'm here tohelp.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Yeah. Okay. So stop sign tickets, speeding
violations, no insurance,

Speaker 2 (09:18):
No insurance , uh, any kind of moving violations
you may encounter drugparaphernalia. Um, and then,
and then there's also class Cmisdemeanors that, you know ,
uh, that don't involve moving.
Like let's say, let's sayyou're charged with theft.
Let's say, let's say you gointo Walmart and you
accidentally don't pay for someof your groceries, and then

(09:39):
they have a loss preventionofficer comes out and they
place you under arrest and theycharge you with theft. Those,
those can be considered a ClassC misdemeanor if it's a hundred
dollars or less. And those arevery important that you contact
us as well because , uh, nobodywants to have a theft
conviction on their record. AndI, I can honestly say that
every client that I've had thathas dealt with a theft charge ,

(10:02):
uh, I've got them , uh,dismissed, or I've worked it
out with the prosecutor in thedistrict attorney's office so
that this doesn't become a partof their permanent record.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Cool. Yeah. And I'm looking at your website. It's
real nice, professional looking. They can hire you online for
a traffic ticket even.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Oh , yeah. We make it very easy. You don't need ,
that's cool . You don't need tohave to worry about driving ,
uh, going , uh, to a office, having to wait. Uh, you can do
it all in the comfort of yourhome, on your couch. Uh , you ,
you don't even need to speak.
You can do it all online. Justyou can use your smartphone and
hire us through your phone soyou don't even have to make a

(10:39):
phone call. Well,

Speaker 1 (10:39):
That's pretty cool.
