Expectations are tricky. Sometimes, we are our own worst enemies as we set expectations for ourselves that are extremely unrealistic, and we also allow others to set the same for us. I realise now that it is important to teach others how to treat us, to teach others that they should not have any expectations on us because we are all human beings and there are days where we can be givers and there are days where we must be takers. Even if that means taking back our right to decline, our right to question, and our right to protect our mental health and live a life of our choosing.
