One day, my parents decided to follow their friend’s advice and go in-person to the factor and see about a job. Papa told me that he knocked on the factory door and asked for a job. They looked at him and said “we don’t need a man, we need a woman, small hands”. Papa took this information in and then said “wait, I have a wife”. He ran to the car and asked mama to go with him, back to the factory door. Mama was immediately employed and she was trained to make quiches. She found it difficult to start off with and it took a lot of physical energy, she was on her feet all day. But she never left that job, she has been there now for almost 30 years.
