Welcome to my first-ever solo podcast episode! After diving straight into conversations with guests in previous episodes, I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself and answer some of your burning questions. As a one-woman operation handling everything from recording to analytics, I've been thrilled to watch this podcast grow – especially seeing listeners tuning in from places like Australia and Brazil!

From astrological compatibility to hangover remedies, I'm answering questions that give you a glimpse into my world. I share my entertainment obsessions and my passionate love for Stassi Schroeder making Vanderpump Villa my most anticipated upcoming show. While admitting I don't read as much as I'd like, I enthusiastically recommend "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" as a book that captivated me completely.

We delve into how 2020 went from being my "year of travel" to my "year of isolation" and I wrap up hilariously chaotic listener "Gremlin stories" involving birthday party escapes and strip club heists complete with stolen Versace sunglasses.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
hey guys.
So it's emily of emily togremily.
I'm hopping on here doing asolo podcast.
This is the first solo episodeI'm doing of the series.
Um, just wanted to come on hereand answer some of your
questions.
I threw it out there on socialmedia for you guys to send me
questions you wanted me to ask.

(00:33):
I went through and picked someof my favorites.
If yours didn't get picked, then it'll come back around on
like the next solo episode.
I got a lot of relationshipquestions which I figure I
should probably dedicate like aown separate episode to, rather
than just sprinkle them inthroughout this one.
So, yeah, I figured let'sanswer some questions and I

(00:58):
didn't really do a properintroduction of myself in the
first episode.
We kind of just jumped rightinto it.
Introduction and myself in thefirst episode, we kind of just
jumped right into it.
I wanted to start this podcastjust like to hang out with my
friends, talk not even get myword out there just, you know,
have a conversation with you, know, my friends, with all of
you out there.

(01:18):
I've noticed I've had like areally big jump in followers on
mainly Instagram, tiktok I'mstill working on it, but yeah,
instagram and I'm a one womanshow.
I do all my own analytics.
I do the you know, recordingthe editing, the video, audio,
etc.
Etc.

(01:39):
So in watching my own analyticsI noticed I got a real jump
after the second episode and Ihave a lot of new listeners.
I can see where you guys are, even though that sounds kind of
creepy, but I can see that youguys are in.
Like, australia and Brazil aremy two main countries outside of

(01:59):
the US, because I'm located inLos Angeles, california.
So, yeah, if you're living hereor if you're living outside of
the US, I'm really interested toknow how you found out about
the podcast and how you guysstarted listening, how you found
me on, if you found me throughInstagram, all that good stuff.
I'm just curious on what'sworking, what isn't working.

(02:21):
So make sure to send it in andlet me know how you found me.
So yeah, this podcast has kindof been like a year or so in the
making.
I had been talking about it fora little over a year at this
point and then just gathering, you know all the equipment which

(02:43):
I didn't know anything aboutstarting a podcast.
I didn't know what microphoneto use, what lights, the
programs, nothing.
So I learned everything like onmy own, how to do it.
I almost gave up like I don'tknow 10 different times because
I got flustered and frustratedand I didn't know what I was
doing.
But it all worked out and yeah, now we're here and it's kind of

(03:05):
slowly becoming successful.
I don't know, I don't want to,you know, count my chickens
before they hatch, but I don'tknow.
I'm excited for what the futurebrings.
And let's answer some of yourquestions.
Question it's kind of a two inone what sign do you get along
with the best and what sign doyou get along with the least?

(03:26):
Meaning astrological sign iswhat I'm assuming, because it
wasn't specified, but that'swhat I took from it.
If you send in that questionand you didn't mean astrological
, send me another DM and tell mewhat I missed Sign I get along
with best.
I don't think I have a specificsign that I gravitate towards.

(03:47):
I would say that my mainrelationships have been with,
like fire signs, like romanticrelationships.
So my worst relationship waswith an Aries, but my best
relationship right now is withan Aries.
So I don't know, do that Dowith that what you will?
I don't know what that reallymeans.

(04:11):
Santa get along with least Idon't want to alienate a
specific group of people, but Inoticed, I don't know, virgos
can be like iffy.
For me, they usually kind ofstart out nice and then they
turn a little mean.
It's kind of like a Sour PatchKid First they're sweet, then
they're sour, or I guess.
No, they're sour, then they'resweet, I don't know.

(04:31):
Yeah, virgos, I guess I wouldhave the least amount of them in
my contacts.
Yeah, but you know not to say Idon't like, don't, not like all
Virgos, but I don't know.
That was just the first onethat came to my head, so I don't
know.
Hopefully I didn't just pissoff a bunch of people.

(04:52):
Okay, number two how do yourecover from a hangover?
Look, I don't want to be theposter child for drinking and
recovery and hangovers, but Ihave had some upsetting
hangovers in the past that youknow I can be kind of dramatic.

(05:12):
I always say that I'm dying, because in that moment I really
do think that it's the end of mylife.
It's just it's all over for meall because I took like one too
many shots.
I guess the best thing I couldsay even though I don't really
take my own advice would besleep is number one.
If I can sleep away a hangover,it's been a good day, um, and

(05:36):
then just like kind of drinkingyou know, water or electrolytes
if you can.
Sometimes you get those reallybad hangovers though, hangovers
though that you just can't drinkanything and, um, I've been
there before.
I don't recommend it it's.
It's very upsetting to have todeal with that, um.
So yeah, sleep is is my numberone thing, but I really do my

(06:01):
best to not get to that point.
If I have a little headache thenext day, I'm like, oh, bummer.
But yeah, being so sickly likethat, that's, it's kind of the
worst and it's something I don'tdo often.
Ok, what is your favorite genreof movie or series?

(06:21):
Anything you are excited forthat's coming of movie or series
, anything you are excited forthat's coming.
I wouldn't say I have a veryspecific like niche genre of
like movies.
I like I like all of them, um,rom-coms, action, fantasy,
horror.
It kind of just depends on whatmood I'm in to like watch
something.
I mean even like the fantasyworlds, like Harry Potter and

(06:43):
all that.
Yeah, I'm just I'm kind ofcorny with my movies, tv series.
You know, I love Grey's Anatomy, I love reality TV shows.
That's been.
I think that's been like mynumber.
One thing I've been watchinglately is reality TV.
Um, currently, oh God, Inoticed I say I'm a lot.
I need to stop doing that NowI'm not going to be able to

(07:05):
speak.
So, uh, lately we've beenwatching um, amazing race and
survivor.
But I've been watching thosefor years, like back when I was
like little, like a child, so Istill watch those, love those.
Oh God, I said um again.
Okay.
So, and then we also love towatch, well, rip Vanderpump

(07:28):
Rules.
That was a big one.
I'm excited to watch the Valley, kind of I don't know really
excited to watch VanderpumpVilla, which is coming up next
week, the week after, I'm notsure, but I'm mainly watching it
because of Stassi Schroeder.
I fucking love that woman.
I think she's a God sent to usfrom the heavens and if she

(07:51):
heard me say that, she wouldagree with me and I think we
would be best friends.
So, yes, vanderpump Villa is mymain thing that I'm really
excited about.
Yeah, if you guys have any likerecommendations of stuff you
want I should be watching, likeyou should be like oh, my God,
you need to watch this, thensend it to me.
Also.
I've heard really good thingsabout the Pit which is, I

(08:12):
believe, on Max.
It's kind of I heard it's alittle bit like a medical drama,
so kind of Grey's Anatomy.
Ish, er, ish.
Yeah, I'm excited to watch thatand I think this season is over
so I can binge it, which isusually what I attempt to do.
I'll wait to watch somethinguntil the season's over and then

(08:33):
I can binge it.
I absolutely hate.
There's nothing I hate morethan watching something and then
having to wait a week becausewithin that week so much has
happened I usually forget whathappened in the last episode.
So I just like to get it allover with.
Let's see.
Next question Do you have anybook recommendations or and or a

(08:55):
favorite book?
I hate to admit this.
I'm actually kind ofembarrassed to admit it.
I don't read a lot.
I used to like when I wasyounger.
I mean, obviously in school youhave to read, you know for like
certain books, like for essaysand book reports and this and
that.
But I did used to love to read.
I just kind of fell off of it.
I mean not to, not that I'mlike so busy I don't have a

(09:19):
chance to pick up a book, I justdon't.
The last book I read that Iabsolutely loved, and then I
started recommending it toeveryone, was the Seven Husbands
of Evelyn Hugo.
Oh my god, it was so good it wasset.
It was.
It spanned like I don't know 70years or so.
It starts with this woman.
She is in the present day, she's telling her story.

(09:42):
She's a famous actress andstarlet from like the 50s 60s
and she is telling her lifestory and how she got married
seven times and who the love ofher life was, and in the end
there's a really big twist.
I did hear that they're makingit into.
I didn't.
I wasn't sure if it was gonnabe a movie or like a miniseries

(10:04):
for TV.
I kind of was hoping it wasgonna be a miniseries for TV
because each episode I thoughtcould be devoted to each of the
husbands and each section of herlife.
But I do think they're goingahead with a movie.
So I am worried that the movieis going to suck, because it's
very rare you can turn a bookinto a movie and capture the
same magic.

(10:25):
But that would be, I think, myfavorite book and my book
recommendation.
Again, same with movies and TVshows, if you have something
that I should be reading.
Please send it to me, because Idon't really know what to do as
far as like books.
You know I'm not up to date onlike the newest and best book.
Okay, last question If youcould travel anywhere in the

(10:46):
world, where would you want togo?
And I had a hard time answeringthis because I want to go
everywhere.
I've been like very few placesin life.
I mean, I've been like aroundthe US, but as far as like
worldwide goes, I haven't reallygone anywhere.
I mean, I've been to Mexico.
What popped in my head first, which was kind of a sad story,

(11:09):
was we were going to do this bigtrip for my boyfriend's
birthday some years back and wehad it all planned.
We were going to leave the daybefore his birthday, on March
22nd, and we were going to flyinto Amsterdam.
We were going to take a trainto Brussels and then the train
to Paris and we were going tofinish out our vacation there.

(11:30):
It was going to be like 10 daysor something like that.
We were really excited for it.
I bought, I spent like hundredsof dollars in buying new
clothes because I was like thisis going to be my year of travel
.
Unfortunately, the year was 2020and the world completely shut
down the week before we weresupposed to leave.
At first we were going to gobecause we didn't realize how

(11:51):
serious it was, and then, whenwe realized what was going on,
we canceled the trip.
And then the trip also kind ofgot canceled on us as well, and
at first we weren't going to getour money back for it.
We were going to get everythingbut the taxes back and we
figured that was better thannothing.

(12:11):
And then, like six months or solater, like let's say, like
this end of summer,september-ish, I saw that there
was a huge jump in the bankaccount and I was like why do we
have like this big jump ofmoney?
Like it made zero sense andOrbitz ended up refunding us
back the taxes.
So we got the money back.

(12:32):
We just didn't get the wholetrip out of it and we were super
bummed and I had started thatyear.
That was like my New Year'sresolution was 2020 was going to
be the year of travel and we'regoing to go there.
We were going to go for mybirthday, which is in August.
We were planning on going toHawaii and at the end of the
year we had a friend's weddingin St Kitts or St Lucia I can't

(12:55):
remember which one of them, oneof the Caribbean islands and
instead of it being the year oftravel, it ended up being the
year of, like, isolation andbeing a couch potato.
So it was a really big bummer.
We still haven't gone.
We went, we ended up going toMexico at one point.
We've gone twice, once on acruise and once with family.

(13:17):
We like drove down there.
But yeah, I want to.
I want to go everywhere.
So if you have anywhere thatyou want me to go or I should go
, also send that over.
I look, I'm takingrecommendations for everything
pretty much, because I I justneed a bunch of advice.
I love to give advice, but Ineed advice for myself.

(13:37):
And then, okay, I wasn't goingto have this one as a question
and then I decided maybe Ishould just talk about it just
to avoid it from happening inthe future.
I got a question and I clickedon the person's profile and it
was a man's profile.
I'm not going to say the name, but they had asked me what is

(13:59):
your body count Meaning?
How many people have I had sexwith?
First of all, that's no one'sbusiness.
I was kind of shocked.
I got the question and then Iwas like, is it from a friend?
Are they like screwing with me?
And it wasn't.
It's somebody who thank you forbeing a fan, thank you for the
engagement and sending yourquestion.

(14:19):
That's just not a question I'mgoing to answer because it's no
one's business but my own.
Do I know the number off thetop of my head?
No, could I sit down and thinkabout it and come up with a
number?
Yes, I just I don't feel likeit.
You know I it was, you know, forever ago and you know I
haven't even talked about thatlike with my current boyfriend

(14:41):
and partner.
We've never like discussed that.
So, look, I'm willing to be anopen book about almost
everything, but I'm not going tosay how many people I've slept
with because it's no one'sbusiness, it's not even my
business because I don't evenknow the answer.
So that's that and that's itfor the questions.

(15:02):
Again, if I didn't answer yourquestion or if I didn't pick it
for this one, it will come upagain.
I'm going to throw it out thereagain.
I'm going to do more soloepisodes coming up.
I can't have guests everysingle week, even though it
makes it more fun, like today.
I was so nervous about doingthis.
You know I feel weird talkingto just the camera and talking

(15:23):
into just the microphone and nothaving someone to bounce my
ideas off of.
But it does help to have thequestions that you guys send in
Again.
You guys sent me a ton ofrelationship questions questions
about your relationship or myrelationship so I will answer
those.
I just thought I shoulddedicate one specific episode to
it.
That way it's not, you know, just a question here, a question

(15:47):
there.
It can be a little more littlemore in depth.
And now I'm going to read.
I picked two gremlin stories andI have some more sitting there,
but I figured these two weregood.
This wasn't going to be a fullhour long episode.
Anyway, you know, just kind ofscooching into the solo episodes
and getting my getting myfooting.

(16:08):
Ok, let's see.
So also, there were namesattached to this, but I never
specified if you guys wantedyour names said on the podcast
or if you want it to beanonymous.
So because I didn't specify it,and neither did you guys, I'm
gonna just say these are bothanonymous because I don't want

(16:29):
to blow up anyone's spot.
Um, so yeah, from now on, whenyou send in your Gremlin stories
, put you want it to beanonymous or sign it with your
name like love, emily, sincerelyEmily, whatever you have.
But yeah, make sure to saywhether it's signed or anonymous
.
That way I know for now theseare anonymous.

(16:49):
Okay, so Gremlin story numberone.
It was my 21st birthday and thisguy I was talking to, like
barely situationship status, bought me a table at a club in
Santa Monica.
That's kind of why I picked it.
It was LA based, thoughtfulgesture, I guess.
I invited everyone high schoolfriends, college friends, la

(17:12):
people, coworkers, maybe a fewstrangers.
It was a full guest list.
If I had your number, I sentyou an invite.
At first it was cute, I waslooking good, outfit on point
and birthday glow activated.
But then the drinks startedhitting and suddenly gremlin
mode was activated and I was nolonger there.
The vibes off, the music mid, the, the guy talking way too

(17:37):
much and somehow saying nothing.
He was being needy as hell andannoying the fuck out of me.
I'm drunk, spinning andrealizing that this whole party
feels like a favor I'm doing forother people.
So I did what any chaotic, unhinged gremlin would do I left
my own birthday party.
I got in my car yes, I know, illegal, unsafe, terrible but I

(18:00):
was a drunk menace with amission and drove from Santa
Monica to Hollywood to meet upwith a group of hot guys who
were always down to party, oneof them being a D-list
SoundCloud rapper at the timethat I had a crush on.
I was so drunk I had to stop atevery sign to throw up door
open, head out, puke wipe, keepit moving and then repeat Like I

(18:25):
was doing a barf pilgrimageacross Los Angeles.
Somehow I made it, showed uplooking flawless minus the
tequila sweats and had anamazing time with my new crew
and never looked back.
As for my original birthdayparty, I have no clue what
happened.
I hope they had fun.
I didn't and I still don'tregret it.

(18:45):
Well, bravo to you forsurviving.
This is a full gremlin story.
You do something you're notsupposed to do, such as drunk
drive across Santa Monica toHollywood.
That's far.
Anyone who doesn't live here inSouthern California that's
really far.

(19:06):
I know it might seem close onthe map, but that's why we say
something is X amount of minutesaway and not X miles away,
because it can be just it couldtake you like an hour to get
from you know A to B, being liketwo miles depending on where,
but that's far and I'm gladyou're safe and don't do that

(19:26):
again because you could getarrested and or die.
So bravo to you for survivingit, okay.
So gremlin story number two.
Hi, I have a gremlin story foryou.
So me and my best friend wereout one night at a hotel bar
pretending to be classy.
We were two espresso martinis, deep, feeling, bold, with no

(19:49):
real plans.
We're waiting outside for valetwhen suddenly this man appears
and when I say this man, I meana guy in a full on head to toe
gold suit, like yes, it wasdesigner, yes, it was clearly
expensive, but somehow it stilllooked tacky.
He had on gold shoes, goldjewelry and gold Versace

(20:09):
sunglasses.
He pulls up in this convertibleand I still don't know what
kind of car it was, because Icouldn't stop staring at how his
suit was low-key, blinking inthe light like he had it's, like
he had his own electricity bill.
He turns to us and says whereare you girls headed?
And we were like nowhere really.
So he goes, let's go to thestrip club.

(20:31):
And because espresso martinisturned me into a gremlin with
zero boundaries, we were like, okay, he randomly hands me his
Versace sunglasses like I'm thenewest member of his gold gang.
We get in the car and he startsplaying this weird ass music Not
EDM, not pop, not even house, just weird.

(20:52):
It sounded like something you'dhear in a haunted laser tag
arena.
Me and my friend were givingeach other side eyes the whole
ride.
We finally get to the stripclub and it's busy Like packed
from every corner, and he handsme and my friend like $300 in
singles each and then is tryingto dance with us and is being
really embarrassing.

(21:13):
We were over it.
We weren't in danger oranything.
We were just so icked out andembarrassed.
Don't forget he's wearing theweirdest outfit ever.
Me and my friends snuck inlittle mini shots and we went
into the bathroom and took themand that's when gremlin mode
fully activated.
I turned to my friend and saidI'm taking the money and the

(21:33):
sunglasses and we're getting thehell out of here.
So we did.
I slid them right into my purselike a raccoon with a shiny
object, and we Irish exitedwithout saying a word, just poof
gone.
I still have the glasses.
They're my little trophy.
Thanks for letting me share Lovethe pod.
I should also let you guys knowthat she did send me a picture

(21:54):
of the Versace sunglasses, andbravo to you, girl.
Yeah, take that money, takethose glasses.
You're combining two of myfavorite things money and
kleptomania.
Not usually together, but yougot to love it.
And the espresso martinis,that's.
That's top notch, top notch.

(22:15):
All right, guys.
So that was the end of the soloepisode.
Again, it's short, but you knowwe're I'm working with what I
got right now.
Also, I don't know if I said atthe beginning I have a
cosmopolitan for this week'sepisode.
I barely drank it.
So, as I edit this, I'm justgoing to pound it and it should

(22:35):
be a good day.
This, I'm just going to poundit and it should be a good day.
