This week on Two Girl Cinema Club, we focus on films telling stories from a Black perspective with predominantly Black casts. This is another theme that we plan on revisiting in a later episode in the hopes some others come available on our streaming services! In watching these films, we were also struck by how important and impactful representation in the industry is, and feel even more excited for the work that Ryan Coogler is do...

For this week’s episode of Two Girl Cinema Club, we share our top 5 movies we’ve watched so far this year. Some of the movies are new releases, but some are older films we revisited. There are also so many movies that are coming out later this year that we’re really excited about, so we talk about those as well. Since we’re horror fans, we have some movies releasing soon that we’re making plans to go to the theatre for and we hope ...

Two Girl Cinema Club went to see Eddington opening weekend and we have a lot of thoughts! If you’ve seen the movie, you can probably relate to us in that it took us some time to completely process everything in the film and how we felt about everything. If you watched Eddington, be sure to let us know what you thought! Hannah also watched Manchester by the Sea, Opus, and Dunkrik, and Ailish started Season 4 of The Bear.

This week on Two Girl Cinema Club we watched some epic films about war. We started the episode by giving our honest opinions on Justin Bieber’s new album, SWAG. So…does that mean everything he’s been up to recently has been a well-thought plan? He did tell us he’s standing on business and it seems he meant it. The Emmy nominations were also announced and there were some big wins (Apple), surprising snubs (Handmaid’s Tale & Only...

This week, Two Girl Cinema Club focuses on animated films, but before we dig into that, we talk about a variety of other movies we caught up with. Ailish was finally able to watch the Black Phone ahead of the sequel coming this fall, and The Woman in the Yard which didn’t land for Blum House. Hannah watched The Shark Whisperer and Flow, and listened to The Dirt after we watched the movie a few weeks ago. Speaking of Pam Anderson, ...

This week on Two Girl Cinema Club it’s part 2 of Wes Anderson movies. Before we dig into the films, Ailish teases 28 Years Later, Hannah recaps the latest news from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and we both discuss the insane documentary, Abducted in Plain Sight. Should we do a documentary week and if so, what are some of your favorites that we should check out?

Getting into Wes Anderson, we watched some of his unexpected fi...

This week on Two Girl Cinema Club we dive into some Wes Anderson films. Before we get to that, we discuss the breaking news of Anna Wintor stepping down as the head of Vogue and Brooke Schofield getting engaged. Hannah also watched The Iron Claw and Ailish finished the final season of You.

In honor of the Phoenician Scheme, we watched some Wes Anderson films we haven’t seen. In a previous episode, we’ll admit that we were ...

While the second half of this episode is a little dark, the first half brings Disney talk, the 28 franchise, and Hannah’s Friday the 13th party. Hannah watched the live-action Snow White this week and…had some thoughts. This opened up a larger conversation about Disney’s compulsion to bring all their classic, animated films into the real world which hasn’t been successful overall. Maybe it’s just our nostalgia, but some things don’...

This episode of the podcast starts with some breaking Sabrina Carpenter news. We’re on the heels of her newest single, Manchild, and she just announced that her next album, Man’s Best Friend will be released at the end of August. Her cover art for the album is getting a lot of press, so we give our thoughts on that, her Rolling Stone cover, and what we hope from her as an artist going forward. We also talk about Miley Cyrus’s appea...

The rebrand is here! We’re finally ready to share that we have transitioned to the “second season” of our podcast and decided it was time for us to evolve. Now, we’re Two Girl Cinema Club! We hope you love the rebrand as much as us. In other news, we’re flying high off our Wallows concert last week and give all the details from the euphoric experience. Miley Cyrus also dropped her album, Something Beautiful, so we discuss that to r...

This week on the pod, we break the news that Hailey Bieber sold rhode to e.l.f. for $1 billion when it’s only been in existence for three short years. This comes off the news that rhode products will be sold in Sephora which we were thrilled about, but now we have some concerns about the quality declining. We also discuss our Memorial Day weekends which were pretty uneventful. Kind of a slow news week!

We kick off this episode by reviewing the hottest movie of the past weekend: Final Destination Bloodlines. Ailish was a Final Destination virgin, but Hannah is a huge fan of the franchise and has been waiting for this reboot to come out. We give our thoughts and also go over some of the most memorable moments from the franchise over the years. We can’t be the only ones that never get in tanning beds because of these movies right? S...

We have a jam-packed episode this week! We finally went to see Sinners right before it leaves theatres near us, and we think it lived up to the hype. We’re just at the tip of the iceberg that is Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan’s career and we can’t wait to see what more is to come from both of them. We also get to discuss An American Story by Wilmer Valderrama which wasn’t what we expected at all. Since he leaves out pretty huge...

We had to make some last minute changes to our list since some movies are no longer on streaming, but we’re excited to have our first music biopic episode! We were excited to finally watch A Complete Unknown and decided to add I’m Not There to the mix even though they’re very different films based on the same person. There’s no denying the former is a detailed interpretation of Bob Dylan’s life, while the latter definitely went in ...

We’re back this week after having to take an unexpected break last week! The theme of films we discuss revolve around some complicated female stories with some being more intriguing than others. We actually hadn’t ever seen most of these movies which is a surprise since they’re all very well known! It was easy to draw a comparison to Carol and Notes on a Scandal which both feature the captivating Cate Blanchet. These movies both se...

The week on the pod, we watch some movies with heavy themes and some are difficult to watch in moments. Since we had both already seen The Prestige, we were looking forward to the rewatch to see if the film still holds up. While we couldn’t necessarily say anything negative about the acting or the look of the film, we didn’t think it hit as hard since we already knew the surprise twist at the end. Moving onto 12 Years a Slave made ...

In this week’s episode, we watch a couple cult classics with some new films thrown in. We didn’t initially plan on watching Oddity, but when we saw it was on Hulu, we had to add it to our watchlist. Unfortunately, this one didn’t meet our expectations and we were left disappointed by a  movie based on Irish lore yet again. On the plus side, we enjoyed revisiting Pulp Fiction and Fight Club. Yes, there were a few things in thes...

We unintentionally created a little theme with our movies this week, but it ended up making sense in our heads. We started out taking a step back in time and watching Apollo 13 for the first time. While we felt the movie tugged on our heartstrings, we both felt it was difficult to separate Tom Hanks’ very identifiable voice from some of the other iconic characters he’s played, specifically Woody. Interstellar rightfully received to...

Our Match Book Club episode is finally here! This month, we read Over the Influence by JoJo and it turned out to not be one of our favorites. She definitely told a lot more of her personal life as opposed to details on her career and the music industry which we weren’t expecting. We didn’t particularly enjoy this book and felt like if she wrote it 20+ years from now, she would’ve cut out many of the redundant stories and details.

This week on the pod, we finally get to give our thoughts after watching the Best Picture of the year: Anora. Since we didn’t read a lot about the movie ahead of time, we were surprised by the direction the film went, but we loved it overall. If you haven’t seen it yet, definitely check it out now that it’s available on streaming. We couldn’t let the release of Netflix’s biggest film go by without watching and reviewing, so we’re b...
