This week on the pod, we break the news that Hailey Bieber sold rhode to e.l.f. for $1 billion when it’s only been in existence for three short years. This comes off the news that rhode products will be sold in Sephora which we were thrilled about, but now we have some concerns about the quality declining. We also discuss our Memorial Day weekends which were pretty uneventful. Kind of a slow news week!
To start our film discussion about women descending into madness, we review the late Jeff Baena film, Horse Girl. Unfortunately, this movie didn’t really land for us and we felt there was too much going on, but not a whole lot actually happening. Immaculate was definitely a better watch and we were pleasantly surprised by Sydney Sweeney really going for it with her performance. Sometimes, it’s felt like she’s typecast, but this role really showed her range as an actor. We’ve both seen Black Swan multiple times, but we both looked at it through a different lens this time. Natalie Portman does such a great job in this film and it’s absolutely one that holds up even after 15 years. Lastly, we watched One of Them Days which was a fun, buddy comedy with Keke Palmer and SZA. We both agreed that this was a fun watch and it’s one that we would watch again for a laugh. What do you think of these films and what are some of your favorite “women’s descent into madness” films? Let us know in the comments!
