Speaking of goals.
One of our mutual goals is tohit 88 apple podcast reviews.
So I can give away this.
Amazon gift card.
I'm holding it up right here ifyou're watching on YouTube.
(03:08):
It's for$50.
So one of you who left one ofthe last eight reviews is going
to get this gift card.
And I love hearing what you guyshave to say about the show.
Thank you so much for yoursupport.
Time to dive in.
So did you set a resolution thisyear?
I've been known to setresolutions from time to time
(03:29):
because other people were doingit.
But what really works for me.
And what I believe in is goals.
Goals I can stick to.
Goals I can create a planaround.
So why was I setting resolutionsand failing?
I was moving with the crowd.
Everyone else is making aresolution.
(03:49):
It seems like a cool idea.
Why not?
In hindsight, I see how a coolidea or a trend is not going to
get me very far.
I would choose a resolutionslike losing weight, reading
every night or going for a walkevery day.
What's crazy is that researchshows that 23% of people quit
(04:12):
their resolutions by the firstweek.
And 43% quit by the end ofJanuary.
I think the failure part.
Is because resolutions are notgoals.
But here's one surprising thingI discovered.
Research says when you set goalsout of obligation or pressure,
(04:33):
you are less likely to achievethose goals.
That's right.
Because according to theresearch goals are more
attainable when they excite youand they are deeply personal.
That means.
The more intentional, thoughtful, and purposeful our
goals are the more likely we areto achieve them.
(04:54):
When I examine my past, that wasabsolutely true.
The more personal a goal was tome, it always beat out any time
I set a resolution on a whim.
One year I thought about whatwas most important to me at the
time was having more fun.
I had just gotten out of afive-year relationship.
There was a lot of monotony.
We weren't traveling.
(05:16):
And I really needed to have morefun.
So I set a goal.
Uh, of going to 10 concerts, comedy shows or trips, bigger,
small.
That goal I achieved.
I live with intention.
And I set goals and make planswith intention.
And I want the same for you.
(05:37):
The secret that all high incomeearners all have is that their
big vision is deeply tied totheir purpose.
They don't just want a six orseven or eight figure income.
Number one, they want to make adifference.
And number two, they understandtheir personal definition of
(06:01):
success.
And their purpose fuels them.
So instead of your six-figureincome goal, what is your impact
goal?
That is a great way to reframeit.
So tell me in the episodecomments.
What does intention mean to you?
And what does it mean to livewith intention?
(06:23):
For me.
Intention is.
Impact.
Intention is art.
An overall intention is thequest to live a deeply
purposeful and meaningful life.
So I wrote down my personaldefinition of living with
intention.
It's.
For me, living with intentionmeans making deliberate,
(06:43):
conscious choices to align youractions with your core beliefs,
values, and priorities.
It involves takingresponsibility for your life,
thoughts, and actions in orderto create a life that reflects
your vision.
I also looked for a more publicdefinition of living with
intention.
(07:04):
And unfuck your brain.com says, living with intention requires
small shifts, reflection, andconsistent conscious choices to
lead a life that is in line withyour needs, goals, and desires.
We are almost to the part whereI'm going to share with you five
questions that can help youunlock a life with more
(07:26):
intention.
But before we get there, I wantto share a personal story of how
the day to day hustle and grindor how society can pull you away
from your intention.
So at the start of the new year, this year, I started out one
week late because I was healingfrom some pretty rough
(07:47):
migraines.
One of my biggest values in lifeis freedom.
Freedom of choices, freedom tomake the decisions and design my
life completely.
That's why I started my ownbusiness in 2017.
Creating a business meant Icould call my own shots.
And never compromise my health, working for the man.
(08:10):
So why the hell would I succumbto the pressures of the clock
changing to 2024.
When I am a goal's girl in thefirst place.
I use the delay on my new yearto get even more intentional
about my goals.
I made healthy choices for mybody.
Like getting my meds squaredaway, lining up medical
(08:32):
appointments.
And I even got a few massages onthe calendar AAO.
I got intentional about mypersonal goals.
And I sat down to my businesswith intention.
And although I did feel thepressure and the pull.
I skipped recording the podcastfor the first two weeks.
(08:53):
And here's why.
I am never going to jump on themic for the sake of just
publishing an episode.
I am only recording if I feellike I can bring something
valuable to you.
Even though that meant the firstepisode of the year, wouldn't
reach you until week three.
And wow.
That felt pretty scary.
(09:13):
I'm not kidding.
It's a weekly show and I hadn'tpublished an episode in three
weeks.
I was thinking, oh my God.
Well, my listeners un subscribe.
Well, they think I've abandonedthem.
I was able to grasp perspectivewhen I zoomed out and looked at
the big picture.
I said, okay.
We just had a holiday break.
My loyal listeners, aren't goinganywhere.
(09:36):
And waiting one more week isn'tgoing to affect the show long
term.
The intention I put into theshow will be worth it.
And that's always the case withintention, isn't it?
Because I know you'd rather waitfor good art.
Intention is impact.
Here's what we both can takeaway from that story.
(09:58):
Or at least I have realized anydowntime I have used to point my
compass and the right directionis never time wasted.
Because if you're acceleratingdown the highway at 100 miles
per hour, It may feelexhilarating, like you're making
a lot of progress.
But if you're going in the wrongdirection, You might not realize
(10:22):
it until you get to thedestination.
And a lot of time has passed.
So honor that self-reflection.
And invest the time in yourself.
Make sure you're steering thecar where you want it to go.
And we're going to do that rightnow together with five questions
to help you live with intentionand create a life you love.
(10:45):
Number one.
What area of your life have youbeen simply going through the
motions?
Number two.
Is there anything you've beendoing out of obligation or
pressure?
Number three.
What specific areas of your lifedo you want to become more
(11:06):
intentional about.
Number four.
How would being more intentionalchange the way you approach your
day and feel throughout the day?
Number five.
How can you align your goals towhat really matters to you?
(11:27):
