Welcome to Empowered Within aSoul Clenching transformational
podcast that will set your soulon fire through candid and
inspiring conversations.
Leading experts, celebrities, healers, and I share our
journeys of how we've overcomechallenges to living an
empowered life from within.
I'm your host, Jennifer Pilates.
Welcome to another episode ofEmpowered Within.

(01:44):
Welcome back to another episodeof Empowered Within the Space
where we awaken the light withinthe body, mind, and spirit.
I'm your host, Jennifer, andtoday we are deep diving into
one of the most talked about andoften misunderstood cosmic
events.
The Mercury retrograde, butbefore you tense up or brace for

(02:06):
chaos, take a deep breathbecause what's coming is not
about punishment.
Know my friend.
In fact, it's about purpose.
This retrograde beginningNovember 9th in Sagittarius and
ending November 29th in Scorpio.
It's here to realign your truth.
It's a cosmic invitation to slowdown, reflect and reconnect with

(02:31):
what's truly real.
What does it really mean whenMercury is in retrograde?
You see mercury governscommunication, travel,
technology, and our thoughts.
When it appears to movebackwards in the sky, its energy

(02:51):
turns inward, meaning we're notmeant to move forward just yet.
Retrograde energy is reviewenergy, a time to rethink,
revisit, and realign.
You always hear me say, review, revise, reset.
It's when the universe hands usthe script of our life and says,

(03:13):
okay, my friend, I'm gonna needyou to take another look.
There's something here you mighthave missed.
And with Mercury Retrogradingbetween Sagittarius, the Sign of
Truth, vision in HigherLearning, and Scorpio, the sign
of emotional transformation anddeep healing, this retrograde.
We'll definitely expose truthsthat change everything.

(03:37):
The question is, are you willingto slow down enough to see them,
to hear them, and mostimportantly, to embrace them to
collectively from November 9thto the 29th, we are going to

(03:57):
experience waves of spiritualclarity and emotional intensity.
At first, when mercury stations.
Retrograde and Sagittarius, thetone will feel fiery, outspoken,
and a little restless.
You might feel driven to speakyour truth, yet find your words
misunderstood or met with a bitof resistance.

(04:18):
Miscommunication is common herebecause Sagittarius wants
freedom and expansion.
But Mercury, you see, mercury isasking for reflection.
Then as Mercury slips back intoScorpio around November 20th,
the energy turns inward and moreemotional truth becomes felt.

(04:39):
Not just spoken.
Secrets are going to surface.
Intuition will heighten emotionsyou've buried are going to rise.
Not to overwhelm you, but tohelp liberate you once and for
all.
This part of the retrograde mayfeel like deep diving into deep,
deep waters, but beneath thatintensity lies healing.

(05:02):
Clarity and release Scorpioenergy purges.
What's false, what's not true?
Sagittarius restores faith inwhat truly is true.
Together, they create a sacredbridge between endings and new
beginnings between what was andwhat's truly meant to be.

(05:26):
When we look at a retrograde.
There's a lot of emotional workthat can be done.
This is a time to pause and ask, where have I been avoiding the
truth?
What stories or beliefs needrewriting who or what No longer
aligns with my higher purpose?

(05:47):
Mercury retrograde often bringspeople or situations from the
past back into view, not astest, but as teachers, you may
receive messages or dreams thatfeel guided, trust them.
This is your soul communicatingthrough symbols, emotion, and
synchronicity.
If emotions feel heightened,breathe.

(06:08):
Journal, move your body.
Let yourself feel withoutrushing to fix every little
thing, because sometimes clarityoften comes after the most
amazing releases.
Remember, mercury is themessenger between worlds, and
when it moves through Scorpio,it delivers messages from the

(06:29):
unseen.
Pay attention to your dreams, tothose gut instincts, to your
body sensations.
What is the universe speaking toyou through all of the emotions
that you're feeling?

(06:50):
One of the number one questionsI always get when it comes to
any retrograde, what signs willbe most effective?
So if you have personal planets,or your rising sign is in
Scorpio, Sagittarius, Gemini, orVirgo, this retrograde will.
Especially be powerful for you,Scorpio.

(07:11):
This is about transformationthat is unavoidable.
You are to expect emotionalrevelations that lead to
freedom.
Sagittarius, you're rewritingyour truth.
Let go of outdated beliefs andstep into a more aligned vision
of who you are today.
And whom you're becoming andwhere you're going.

(07:34):
Gemini.
As Mercury's ruling sign, you'llfeel the mental fog, but also
the brilliance of introspectionof going inward.
Virgo Health Daily Habits andInner Balance are under review,
simplify and simply recalibrate.
Everyone though always feels theenergies of the retrograde, we

(07:58):
will feel the shift in differentareas of life depending on where
these signs fall into yourcharts and what's going on in
your life.
But most importantly, when wethink about a Mercury
retrograde, we wanna thinkabout, again, this is a time to
review, revise, rethink.
This is not a time to sign majorcontracts to make major

(08:18):
decisions to launch majorprojects.
To make major moves, to make bigpurchases.
Anything that is new, it is notthe time for Now.
The flip side to this, and notto confuse you, if you have been
searching for the perfect homefor a year, for months, you
finally found it and you'relike, oh my gosh, the contract

(08:41):
is coming during the retrograde.
Jennifer, what do I do?
You sign it because this is yourcompletion.
Mercury brings completion duringthe retrogrades so that
completion actually is there foryou and is there to support you.
Same thing if you've beenthinking about moving and you've
been working on it for a whileand you've been searching for
all of the places, and suddenlythat right place pops up.

(09:04):
It's okay.
I don't want you to come from aplace of fear, come from a place
of alignment.
However, as with anything, atany time you want to be careful
of anything that you're signing.
Make sure that you're aware andthat it's in alignment with you.
Again, mercury bringscompletions.
Anytime we have left things, wehave pushed them aside.

(09:26):
Whether it is a person, a place,a job, a question, any loose
strings will continue to comeback and revisit us during
mercury and retrogrades untileither A, the lesson is learned.
B, we're finally are done withit.
C, it's come to a closure andwe've moved on so.
Things, lessons, people, thoseold boyfriends, those old

(09:49):
girlfriends, old jobs, oldstuff, everything.
It always tends to pop back upduring a Mercury retrograde.
Again, it's not about testing.
It's about, Hey, did we completeit?
Are we done?
Where are we at?
Review, revise, and rethink.
It's that simple.
When it comes to technology, yes, there are glitches, tons of

(10:11):
glitches.
Knowing that there's a Mercuryretrograde, that's powerful
knowledge so that you don'tcrazily wig out when suddenly
the computer goes out orsomething's off with your car or
something's off with your phone, you go, oh, mercury retrograde.
This is gonna be fine.
It's gonna reset itself.
Speaking of cars, when it comesto Mercury retrograde, if there

(10:32):
are things that have beenneeding to.
Be fixed with your car.
That's also the time to do it,because we're wanting to catch
up and get things fixed andclarified.
And why is that?
Same thing when we're thinkingabout writing a book or all the
things maybe that course you'vewanted to build, the business

(10:54):
you wanted to launch.
This is the time to really sitand review it and rethink how
you wanna bring it to light, andthen.
Only after Mercury retrogradehas not only gone direct, but
you've gotten past the shadowphase, then that is the good
time to launch.

(11:15):
So yes, everyone will alwaysfeel a Mercury and retrograde
depending on the specificretrograde and what planets it
is working with will depend onhow much more it truly is
working with you.
As Mercury begins to go direct.

(11:36):
We call that the post shadow, the integration phase.
With Mercury retrograde comesthe post shadow integration
phase.
Even though Mercury goes directon November 29th, its post
shadow phase will continue untilaround December 16th, revisiting
the same degrees.
It retrograde over.

(11:57):
This period is aboutintegration, turning insight
into aligned action.
If the retrograde felt liketearing down old walls.
The post shadow is where yourebuild stronger, wiser, and
clear.
By mid-December, clarityreturns, communication, smooth.
You'll understand why thedelays, the pauses, or the

(12:18):
missteps had to happen becausethey weren't just obstacles,
they were redirections.
And every pivot has a purpose, and with every pause there is
power.

(12:40):
So what do you do to staygrounded during a Mercury
retrograde?
To stay in alignment, to stayclear, to not lose it.
I've got a few things for you.
Pause.
Most importantly, pause beforereacting.
All of my clients hear this fromme all the time.
There is power in a pause.
Silence often reveals so muchmore than words.

(13:05):
Reflect before deciding wait tosign contracts.
Hold off on starting newprojects or make big purchases
until after December 1st.
If at all possible, revisit oldideas.
Something from the past may holdvalue.
Now that you now can see withfresh eyes practice energetic

(13:28):
hygiene.
Ground daily, through breath, through movement, through
nature.
Pilates, reiki journal or recordintuitive hits, those intuitive
downloads that you're getting, those aha moments.
Your higher self is speakingclearly.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
