She has more than 35 years of teaching and administration experiences with students with special needs.

In this episode, Dr. Gusby defines the disorder, describes some of the symptoms and explores solutions.

One key point that she makes is: “Parents have to takeresponsibility for the education of their children. Ask questions.”

Also, she stresses, “Difference does not mean deficit.”

Revealing her love for the work, Dr. Gusby shares, “I just call them little geniuses because there’s something in there. We just have to find a way to unlock it, find the key to unlock it. Some of them do well in putting things together. Some of them do well with computers. Some of them dowell within the arts. We just have to unlock it. All those other things we kind of need to ignore, those differences.”
