Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to Every Day A New Thought.
I'm your host, thor Chalgren, and each weekday I share a new
thought perspective.
Today I'm beginning a four-partseries I'm calling.
Put Yourself First.
It's the beginning of the fallseason.
Labor Day, weekend,back-to-school time Seems like

(00:22):
it's that season whereeverything is now pumpkin spice.
Apparently, for those of you inthe empty nest phase of your
life now, or if you have kidsthat have gone back to school or
summer company that has left, you now have time on your hands,
time to fill.
This seasonal shift hasrecently felt a lot more real

(00:46):
for me.
My daughter has embarked on anew chapter of her life living
on the East Coast.
She graduated from college lastyear and she's been living and
working back home, saving moneyin preparation for moving back
east, or good.
This change has taken me backto the day and we first left her

(01:07):
at college.
All the emotion, theuncertainty, the tears, and that
was just me.
That was definitely a tough timefor me.
You know, after years ofdedicating myself to being a
stay-at-home dad with soccergirl scouts, band cheer, she was
about to carve her own path inlife without me.

(01:31):
So what was I going to do withmy time?
At the time, I felt like I wasat a crossroads.
What would my next steps be?
Seeking out some clarity aswell as drowning my sorrows in a
20-ounce IPA.
My wife and I found ourselves ata nice outdoor bar in DC, right

(01:53):
by DuPont Circle.
My wife honestly seemed moreokay with this than I was, but
she was so smart in that momentbecause she reminded me that we
the both of us now had the restof our lives to do whatever we
wanted.
So in that moment, as difficultas it was, I decided something

(02:17):
that the next chapter in my lifecould and should be something
special.
I didn't know what at the time,but I decided.
I decided to pivot to my future, decided to move forward,
decided that the next part of mylife was going to be great.

(02:37):
I decided to put myself first.
Now, based on what I decidedthat day and what I've learned
since, I've developed afour-part video series titled
Put Yourself First.
This free video training seriesruns four days and each segment
is accompanied by a very shortexercise that will help you get

(02:59):
clarity on what's next for you.
I've included a link in theshow notes or you can navigate
directly to thorchallgrencom so,as we transition into fall.
I encourage you to considerwhat's your next chapter,
whatever your stage in life isright now.

(03:21):
Where do you see yourselfheaded?
Perhaps my video series couldoffer you a new perspective on
you.
A quick teaser for tomorrow'sepisode In that show I'm going
to talk about the power ofcelebration, so if you want a
party, check back tomorrow.
