Can mere thoughts alone bring riches, or is action an essential ingredient for success?

In this episode, I explore Chapter 11 of Wallace D. Wattles' timeless book, "The Science of Getting Rich," written over a century ago.

I delve into the question of whether thoughts can manifest wealth independently or if they must be coupled with personal action.

The key takeaway here is that thought and action must go hand in hand to achieve prosperity. I elaborate on Wattles' emphasis on not dwelling in the future but rather concentrating on the present and taking action in your current circumstances.

By tuning in, you'll gain valuable insights into how combining thought and action can help you manifest your desires and enhance your life.

Thor Challgren (00:00):
Thought is the creative power, or the impelling
force which causes the creativepower to act.
Thinking in a certain way willbring riches to you, but you
must not rely upon thought alone, paying no attention to
personal action.
Those are the words from theScience of Getting Rich by

(00:21):
Wallace D Wallace, first writtenin 1910 over 100 years ago and
still to this day remains a huge, influential book in the new
thought industry.
Now, in this chapter, this iscalled Chapter 11, acting in a
Certain Way, he talks about theimportance of action.

(00:41):
So today, in this episode,we're talking about action.
Welcome to.
Every Day a New Thought.
I'm Thor Challgren, and everyday I bring you a new thought, a
new perspective.
I am on day three of my serieson the Science of Getting Rich
by Wallace Waddles, and I'mtalking about Chapter 11 and the
reason why this specificchapter is.

(01:03):
There are many people who talkabout this book and cite four
specific chapters, and in myfirst two episodes in this
series I talked about Chapter 4and Chapter 7.
Today I'm talking about Chapter11.
Bob Proctor says that if youread chapters 4, 7, 11 and 14
and you do it every single dayfor 90 days, you will

(01:26):
pre-program your mind on theidea of success.
So what we're talking abouttoday is acting.
In a certain way and this iskind of up until this point.
Wallace Waddles has laid outthe foundation for saying
thoughts are things.
That you put your thoughts outinto the universe, he calls it

(01:48):
the formless substance and thenyou get back the thing that you
thought about.
So basically, your thoughts arepowerful, you are creating your
reality.
That's essentially the gist ofChapter 4.
Chapter 7, which I coveredyesterday, is all about
gratitude and he talks about theimportance of having that
grateful mindset, no matter what, looking around and being

(02:11):
grateful and not dissatisfiedwith things.
But today he's talking in thischapter about the importance of
action, and I'm going to quotehim right here and then unpack
this quote.
He says this is the crucialpoint in the science of getting
rich, right here, where thoughtand personal action must be

(02:32):
combined.
He says there are many peoplewho consciously or unconsciously
set the creative forces inaction by the strength and
persistence of their desires, but who remain poor because they
do not provide for thereception of the thing they want
when it comes by thought.

(02:54):
The thing you want is broughtto you by action, you receive it
.
Think about that what he'ssaying is you have to take
action.
He talks a lot about in thischapter, about people who sit
around and go, oh, it will cometo me.
He's saying, no, you must act.
And in that last part of thatquote I read by action, you

(03:17):
receive it Now.
It's interesting because we canthink forward and imagine a
future that we want and we, now,we place ourselves in that
future and go, oh, that's what Iwant.
And we just start to live inthat place.
And he cautions us againstprojecting into the future and
living in that future.

(03:38):
He's saying and this is a quotehere from him he says hold the
vision of yourself in the rightbusiness, with the purpose to
get into it and the faith thatyou will get into it and are
getting into it, but act in yourpresent business.
Use your present business as ameans of getting a better one.
So what he's saying is look, ifyou sit around and daydream all

(04:01):
day long about one day mycircumstances would be better,
one day I'll have that thing.
I want that relationship, thathealth, that wealth.
He's saying no, if you live andin the future, you're not
acting in the present, and thepresent is the only place where
you can act.
So he says hold the vision ofyourself in the job you want

(04:22):
while you act with faith andpurpose on the job you have, and
you will certainly get the jobyou want.
Key key point here is action, and don't live in the future,
but focus on where you are nowand do the best you can in that
job.
And so that is actually alittle teaser for tomorrow where

(04:44):
I wrap up the series where wetalk about chapter 14.
