Thor Challgren (01:10):
So far as your
business consists in dealing
with other men, whetherpersonally or by letter, the key
thought of all your effortsmust be to convey to their minds
the impression of increase.
Those are the words of WallaceWaddle's, written in 1910 in his
book the Science of GettingRich.
It comes from chapter 14, whichis the final chapter that I'm
(01:34):
unpacking in this four-partseries that I've had this week
on the Science of Getting Rich.
In today's episode we talkabout chapter 14, the impression
of increase.
Welcome to.
Every Day A New Thought.
I'm Thor Challgren.
On this podcast.
Every day I look at a newthought, share a new perspective
.
As I said, I am finishing aseries this week I've done on
(01:57):
Wallace Waddle's book, theScience of Getting Rich.
This was written in 1910 andhas been hugely influential over
the last hundred years.
Many people cite this book andprobably the books, many books
that you're familiar with alsoread this before they wrote
their work.
So Wallace Waddle's, I believe, was someone that was, if not
(02:19):
ahead of his time, veryinfluential.
The success writer and authorBob Proctor said that if you did
nothing else for 90 days butread four specific chapters from
this book, you could reprogramyour mind for success, and those
chapters are four, seven, eleven and fourteen.
In the previous three episodesof this series I talked about
(02:44):
each one of those.
You can go back and listen tothose.
I'll put those in the showdescription.
But today I'm finishing withchapter 14, which, as I said, is
the impression of increase.
I'm going to read a few quotesfrom this and then unpack them
and sort of get us to a landingplace for this particular book
in this series.
Waddle says in this chapter hesays the normal desire for
(03:06):
increased wealth is not an evilor a reprehensible thing.
It is simply the desire formore abundant life.
It is aspiration and because itis the deepest instinct of
their natures, all men and womenare attracted to him who can
give them more of the means oflife.
(03:26):
So I want to go back to theidea and I've mentioned this
before that he's not talkingabout just material riches.
So I think that's why he'ssaying the desire for increased
wealth isn't a bad thing.
He's saying that everyone wantsincrease, everyone wants a
better life, they want moreabundance, they want more
expansion, they want more joy, better relationships, better
(03:49):
health.
So what he's saying is peoplewill be attracted to the person
who can give that to them.
So how do you do that?
That's what I love about him ishe always gives you like okay.
So that's a great point.
How do you do it?
He says in this next quote howyou do it, he says convey the
impression of advancement witheverything you do, so that all
(04:11):
people shall receive theimpression that you are an
advancing man and that youadvance all who deal with you.
You can convey this impressionby holding the unshakable faith
that you yourself are in the wayie moving toward increase and
by letting this faith inspire, fill and permeate every action.
(04:35):
So he's saying the way that youaccomplish this and this seems
like a no-brainer is if youyourself are successful and you
convey to everyone that you areon the process to succeed.
Think about it we want to bearound people who are successful
.
We want that energy to be ourown energy.
So what he's saying is if youlook at every single thing you
(04:59):
do and don't ever look atanything as being beneath, you
do a great job at everything andpeople will notice that and
then they'll say I want to bearound that person.
That person has something thatI want to get something from.
So he's saying that when youfeel that you are getting rich
and you know that you are, andagain, rich as in, successful in
(05:22):
all areas of life.
But he says, by doing so, otherpeople are going to look at you
and think I can do the samething.
So he's saying, you have toimpress on others that by
associating with you they'regoing to get that success for
themselves.
He closes this chapter with aquote, and I'll just read this.
(05:43):
He says no better statement ofthe principle of creative action
can be formulated than thefavorite declaration by the late
golden rule Jones of Toledo.
And here's the quote what Iwant for myself, I want for
everybody.
What I want for myself, I wantfor everybody.
I think this is really thefoundation to this particular
(06:06):
chapter is when you want thissuccess for yourself, you should
want it for everybody.
You should want everyone aroundyou to increase and that
genuine desire that you have, people will pick up on that and
they'll want to be associatedwith you.
That's the series for this weekchapters four, seven, eleven,
(06:27):
fourteen.
I'm going to put them all inthe show notes.
I suggest you go back andlisten to them.
I've also put a link in thenotes for how you can get a copy
of this book.
It's very inexpensive, shortbook, easy to read.
I suggest that if you'reinspired by this, go get a copy
of the book and set out foryourself to try and read for 90
(06:48):
days in a row.
Read chapters four, seven, eleven and fourteen and see what
kind of difference it makes inyour life.
That's the show for today.
