Shawna and Jen visit with Jody Dacus of Navasota. Jody tells us how her family started off in the coaching world and all of the places they have been. She shares that their kids have been on the football field since birth and discusses the path before them as a coaching family and how it is their calling. She discusses how to be neutral as a coach's wife and parent as her husband is the Athletic Director in their community. She also mentions the advice they give their children as athletes. Jody also talks about trusting the coaching staff that her husband hires to do their job.
Jody has a busy mom life and shares how their family breaks it down into the Monday-Friday life vs. the weekend life and how they reset each week. Each family member knows their role and how explains why she taught independence to the kids. They discuss the busyness around each other as a family and how to stay connected.
She gives encouragement for wives to embrace instead of resist this lifestyle.
Jody discusses how she and Casey incorporate date night and gives moving tips for anyone who will experience it in the future. She also advises how to help your kids navigate moves and mentions being very intentional with them.
The episode also brings up Jody's breast cancer survival story and where she is in the journey now. In the end, she shares her favorite part about being a coach's wife and what superstitions she has on game day.
