Playoff 2022 Special

Shawna and Jen visit with Andrea Ables of Hawley. Andrea's husband Mitch is the HFC/AD at Hawley as well as the HBB coach. Andrea tells the ladies all of the places they have been to get to where they are now.

In this episode, Andrea mentions:

  • How hard it is to move from place to place.
  • Transitioning from being at a bigger town/school to a small town/school.
  • Athletes have to play everything in a small school.
  • Sharing athletes and conflicts that come up.

Both Andrea and her husband Mitch are coaches as well as both of their boys playing multiple sports.   Andrea shares how at times they had to rely on a lot of people to help juggle all the places they had to be.

Andrea talks about how they get to know the boys outside of football with chicken spaghetti and Monday Night Football.

Hawley is in the playoffs and she talks about:

  • Game Jitters
  • Getting the Awww factor out of the way
  • Small-town playoff game turnout.
  • Working around stadium availability

In the end, some of the best content includes:

  • How people comment at games regardless of how well the team is doing.
  • How it is hard to have friends when your husband is the AD and you coach as well.
  • Having a kid in the program.
  • Andrea's cute tradition before each game to Mitch.
  • Handling being a mom of an athlete and coach's wife
  • Following God's plan when you have to move.
  • The perks of being at a small school.
