This summer brought unexpected clarity. In this heartfelt solo episode, I share why I stepped back from endometriosis advocacy a bit to focus on what matters most—my family, my health, and realigning with purpose.

I open up about the emotional toll of advocacy, the guilt of burnout, and the beauty of rediscovering what I’m truly called to. If you’ve ever questioned your path, struggled to find balance, or felt lost in your chronic illness journey—this one’s for you.

You’ll hear:

  • Why I paused the podcast and social media
  • How faith, family, and rest helped me reset
  • What it means to find purpose through your pain
  • What’s next for Endo Battery

If this resonates, please share, rate, or review—it helps more than you know.

(00:24):
always align with our own.
Believing that open dialoguehelps us grow and gain new tools
.
Join me as I share stories ofstrength, resilience and hope,
from personal experiences toexpert insights.
I'm your host, alana, and thisis EndoBattery charging our
lives when endometriosis drainsus.
Welcome back to EndoBattery.
Grab your cup of coffee or yourcup of tea and join me at the

(00:47):
table.
This episode is a littledifferent.
No special guest today, noexpert interviews, just me
sitting at the table with you.
Let's just call this a heart toheart, and if we both cry a
little, no judgment.
We can blame it on the hormonesor the weather or just the fact
that life is a lot sometimes.

(01:09):
This summer, let me tell you,it's been full of revelations,
soul searching and some toughtruths I didn't expect to face.
You might have noticed fewerInstagram posts, maybe a repeat
episode or two or a quieter feed, and that's not because I've

(01:31):
stopped caring.
In fact, it's because I'vecared so deeply for something
that matters even more.
I had to step back from what Ialways thought was my calling
advocacy this podcast, thenonprofit work because the thing
I fought so hard for my familyneeded me, really needed me, and

(01:54):
not just to throw a load oflaundry in between recordings
version of me, but the presentintentional, engaging version.
I've realized that my numberone calling isn't just advocacy,
it's not the podcast, it's noteven perfecting the best real
transition on Instagram Although, let's be honest, that takes

(02:15):
some serious talent and possiblya ring light.
But my number one calling is tobe a woman grounded in her
family, to be a mom, to be thewife, to be the human that I
worked so hard to be in a homewhere love, laughter and a
little bit of chaos live side byside and listen.

(02:36):
This isn't an easy realization.
I wrestled with it becausestepping back can feel like
letting go, like I was failingsomehow, but what I've come to
understand, sometimes painfully,is that if I don't care for
myself and those closest to me,I can't sustain this work.
Long term Burnout is real, y'all, and apparently it doesn't care

(03:01):
how passionate you are.
Passion doesn't pay for sleepor prevent meltdowns at Costco.
I want to talk to those of youright now who are struggling.
Maybe you're drowning insymptoms, stuck in medical red
tape, exhausted by pain, or justwondering what even is my
purpose anymore.
Friend, I've been there andsome days I am still there and

(03:26):
still sit in that space.
Now, I'm a woman of faith and Ideeply believe each of us is
called to something.
We are wired with purpose, gifts, passions, abilities that
are uniquely ours.
But the wild twist is sometimesthe very thing that feels like
it's derailing our purpose endsup becoming the launch pad for

(03:50):
it.
For me, that thing was chronicillness.
It stopped me in my tracks, butit also handed me a microphone,
literally and figuratively.
It gave me compassion, fire, purpose and you, this community.
But I need to be honest.
I've had moments this summerwhere I've asked myself do I

(04:13):
still want to do this?
Does this even matter anymore?
There are already so many greatpodcasts out there.
Do people still need this one?
Do people still need me?
Is this really what I want todo?
And you know what the answer tothat question was yeah, I still

(04:35):
want to do this.
Your DMs, your comments, the wayyou share episodes with friends
who are struggling, that, hey, that episode really helped me
messages, they've kept me goingmore than you know.
You've reminded me that thisspace we've built, it matters.
These conversations, they arethe advocacy, and that this

(04:57):
podcast, our little corner ofthis internet, is a light in the
dark for someone out there.
So thank you, thank you forgiving me the grace to be a
human first, thank you for stillshowing up even when I had to
take a breather, and thank youfor trusting me with your
stories, with your support.

(05:18):
And now I have a little favorto ask you If this podcast has
helped, you, moved you made youlaugh or just made you feel a
little less alone, would youshare it?
Share it on social media, textit to a friend, leave a review,
please, and thank you, or shoutit from the rooftops if you're
into that kind of thing.

(05:38):
I don't do this for the numbers.
I do it because I want peopleto feel seen and supported.
But knowing that it's reachingmore people, that keeps me going
.
And just so we're clear, I'mnot quitting, no, not even close
.
I've got some incredible guestslined up.
This fall.
We're talking real talk, medicaltruths and life hacks, and

(06:01):
maybe a few giggles along theway.
Maybe even some pumpkin spicecontent, if we're feeling really
bold.
Who knows?
I don't know if you're intothat thing, so please keep
pulling up a chair to this tablewith me.
We're not just swapping stories, we're building something that
matters, and while I may nothave it all figured out who

(06:22):
really does?
I may not have it all figuredout.
Who really does, I don't know.
I do know this.
We are stronger together.
Let's keep advocating forourselves and for others, but
let's also rest.
Let's love our people.
Let's give ourselves permissionto not be everything to
everyone all the time, becauseburnout doesn't look good on

(06:46):
anyone and, trust me the bagsunder my eyes are truth to that,
and I've checked it's notcovered by insurance either.
So thank you for showing upeach week, thank you for being
part of this with me and, untilnext time, continue advocating

(07:17):
for you, for you and for others.
