Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Endorphasm
, mick, where we talk about all
things.
Endorphasm, I am your hostess.
Erica Porter, gat, monkey Ihaven't talked about the monkey
on your back for a while.
The biggest challenge for manypeople is filling the gap
between intention and action.
(00:22):
Most people set goals likelosing weight, managing time
better, prioritizing theirhealth and reducing stress, yet
in reality, they miss workouts, they overeat, they struggle with
time management and onlypartially commit to the actions
needed to reach these goals.
(00:44):
Are you ready to bridge thatgap, to create real and lasting
change?
Now is the time.
So the book that I wrote wasEat that Monkey.
Now is the time to change yourlife.
So, as we're approaching, whenso many people do New Year's
(01:06):
resolutions, say, why would youwait?
Why would you wait to bridgethat gap?
January 1st doesn't change whatyou want for yourself.
What you want for yourself.
(01:31):
So the important thing is nowis the time to take charge of
your health and your happiness.
Don't settle for less than thebest version of yourself.
Define where you are now andwhere you truly want to be.
I am a fitness, lifestyle andweight management specialist.
I have, hopefully, what I thinkhas inspired thousands of
(01:54):
people with my get the monkeyoff your back philosophy.
I am high energy, I amstraightforward, I have an
athletic background, but mymission is to help others live a
life they love in a body theylove, and, with over 30 years of
(02:15):
experience in the health, fitness and behavioral lifestyle
arena, I also am the author ofEat that Monkey.
Now is the Time to Change yourLife.
My own journey began withovercoming my own struggle with
(02:36):
compulsive overeating andself-esteem, and through a
combination of self-reflectionaffirmations and personal
commitment combination ofself-reflection affirmations and
personal commitment I wasreally able to transform my
habits.
And now I share the tools thatI've used with people all over
the world, and I am driven by mypassion for helping others
(02:59):
achieve not just physicaltransformation but, more so,
emotional transformation.
And I had launched initiallyEat that Monkey Life Solutions,
which was to empower individualseverywhere to create lasting,
positive change.
That then really morphed intowhat endorphasm is, and so you
(03:27):
know I always will refer to themonkey.
Do you have a monkey that causesyou to repeat behaviors and
choices that leave you feelingregretful?
And the human brain is cleverit convinces you that self-love
(03:48):
sometimes is about taking iteasy.
Go ahead, eat that brownie.
You've earned it.
You deserve a break.
Don't try that thing you'vebeen dreaming about.
You might fail or worse, youmight be judged Um, stay right
here.
It's safe out there.
That's the unknown.
It can be terrifying.
Is this self-love orself-defeat?
(04:13):
And before you embark on anynew path or project, get clear
on what it truly means to loveyourself and what obstacles
stand in your way.
Because without genuineself-love, what do you really
have?
And here's what I've discoveredabout self-love Self-love is
not forgiving yourselfrepeatedly for the same
self-sabotaging habits.
(04:34):
That's avoidance.
Hiding behind being nice that'sfear.
Seeking comfort above all else, that's stagnation.
Battling where you are insteadof accepting it, that's
resistance.
Putting others' needs First atyour expense, that's
self-sacrifice.
Convincing yourself to loungeon the couch watching TV instead
(04:58):
of moving your body that'sself-defeat or self-deceit, I'm
sorry.
It's also self-defeat.
Laughing at yourself beforeothers can that's insecurity.
Letting go of discipline that'schaos.
Striving for perfection that'sjust perfectionism.
Listen, we are all perfectexactly where we are.
That doesn't mean that we can'tget better.
(05:21):
Optional Self-love is necessaryfor a fulfilling life.
It's not optional.
But self-love is P pushingyourself past your comfort zone,
allowing yourself to feeldeeply without being controlled
by those feelings, standing upfor yourself even if it's
(05:44):
difficult, asking for what youdeserve, prioritizing rest and
restoration for mind and body, choosing health over indulgence,
showing up for yourselfconsistently.
Care, consistent and repeatedeffort, taking time to look your
best, even on tough days, saying no to what doesn't serve
(06:09):
you and yes to what doesuinggrowth and excellence.
Always Enjoying the presentrather than waiting for some day
, rather than waiting forJanuary 1st and a resolution.
Enjoying the present, beingthere today.
(06:31):
Self-love is powerful.
It's recognizing when you'reoffering yourself excuses
disguised as care.
It's about turning passion intocompassion, investing in
yourself and making every momentcount.
What if your only limitation isyour thinking, because
(06:51):
typically, that is what youronly limitation is?
What if you are meant to makean impact?
What if everything you need isavailable to you right now?
What if today is the last dayto live fully?
Reflect, choose your own whatif?
(07:13):
And make that decision.
Repeat mantras to power through.
I am strong, I am amazing.
Sweat is cleansing, one step ata time.
I feel alive.
I love doing what I set out todo, whatever the affirmation
(07:37):
that you need.
Affirmations guide peoplethrough tough moments,
transforming words into physicalenergy.
I believe in energy.
I believe that everything isenergy and vibration, and when
you set the tone for positivityand possibility and epicness.
(08:01):
Amazing things happen.
Self-love is pushing beyond yourself-imposed limited beliefs.
It's sitting with difficultemotions without becoming them.
It's restoring your mind andyour body.
It's choosing what supportsyour growth over what offers
(08:22):
temporary comfort.
It is showing up for yourself, day after day, with strength and
compassion.
If you want true change, startby understanding real self-love.
What barriers are holding youback?
And if you are interested indigging a little bit deeper,
(08:48):
whether it's consultation,whether it's personal training,
whatever it is, there is nogreater gift than empowering
yourself and it's worth it.
You are worth it.
