Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to
Endorphasmic, where we talk
about all things.
Endorphasm.
I am your hostess, erica Porter.
Just to make sure that weunderstand the mission of
endorphasmic and why I talkabout, it's the endorphasm
(00:26):
mindset.
Endorphasm is about connectingyourself to your own power, to
the power of the feeling, thefeeling of the power, and
movement is the catalyst for allof that.
Movement centers us in a waywhere we are able to be
(00:48):
completely connected withourselves.
It provides us an opportunityto move through literally
everything.
The human body was designed tomove and there is no human body
was designed to move and thereis no human body that is the
exception to that.
(01:09):
Movement is a powerful piece inour living, our consciousness,
our ability to understand ourself-worth, our love for self,
all of these things.
But today is about reclaimingyour power.
(01:35):
You are in control, and thisconversation really is for my
cancer warriors and reallyanyone facing the challenges of
a chronic issue.
This is about reclaiming yourpower and understanding one
(01:55):
fundamental truth you are incontrol, not cancer or any other
chronic condition.
We're going to dive deep into atopic that impacts so many
lives taking back control.
In the face of a diagnosis orchronic struggle, it's natural
(02:18):
to feel overwhelmed.
But today we're exploringactionable steps to help you
reclaim if I can say that againyour power and support your
journey to really totalwell-being.
So I want to ask you a questionwho are you beyond this
(02:47):
diagnosis or beyond whateverissue you're struggling with?
Let me start with this who areyou as a whole and what is your
life about?
A diagnosis doesn't define you.
It is a chapter in your story, not the entire book.
(03:08):
Your life is about so much more.
By taking an active role inyour treatment and daily
decisions, you have theopportunity to redefine your
path.
Engage in activities that bringyou joy and purpose,
reinforcing your identity.
(03:29):
Beyond the diagnosis or chronicissue, it's important to move
past fear and uncertainty.
I think that fear is a naturalresponse, but it can be
paralyzing if left unchecked.
(03:50):
You can transform that fearinto action, and by doing so, or
in order to do so, you have tostart by focusing on what you
can control.
Learn everything you can aboutyour condition and I put that in
(04:12):
quotes, I don't reallyparticularly like the word
condition but learn everythingyou can about what's happening,
because knowledge is power.
It reduces the fear of theunknown, and I don't mean to go
down a rabbit hole on Googlethat will send you into dying in
(04:33):
two days.
Knowledge is power.
It reduces the fear of theunknown.
I think that we can all reflecton past challenges that you've
overcome and let those momentsremind you of your strength and
your resilience.
(04:55):
Channel your energy intoproactive not reactive, but
proactive steps.
Remember that every smallaction contributes to your
overall well-being and I thinkpart of the proactive steps is
cultivating a mindful state.
(05:17):
I think that the uncertainty ofa cancer journey or any chronic
issue can trigger anxiety anddepression.
Mindful, like mindfulnesspractices, whether it's
meditation, deep breathing, journaling, whatever it is can
(05:38):
really help anchor your thoughtsand provide clarity.
And I think that seekingsupport from counselors or
support groups but in a positiveway, because a lot of support
groups, especially in the cancerspace, are a lot of complaining
, a lot of talking about what'swrong.
(06:01):
What's going wrong, it's livingin the space of what people are
not controlling and that can bedetrimental.
So you have to really do yourdue diligence in seeking support
, whether it's from a, from aprofessional or support groups
(06:22):
that are really supportive andnot destructive.
Your entire day matters Work, play, movement, nourishment,
sleep, purpose.
Each moment is an opportunity.
I support your total well-being, and part of that support is
(06:59):
fueling your body in a way thatis supportive of what your body
really needs.
Nutrition is critical, especially now, and what you
feed your body has a profoundimpact on coping, recovery and
absolutely healing.
(07:19):
I think if you prioritize whole, nutrition-dense foods that
fuel and support your body fromthe inside out, that's key.
And if you're not sure where tostart, consult with a registered
dietitian.
Registered dietitian Pleaseavoid quick fixes or advice from
(07:45):
unqualified sources.
There's a lot of people that, because they have transformed
their bodies or they have beenmeal prepping, feel that they
are qualified to meal prep or togive nutritional advice.
They are not A registereddietitian understands the impact
(08:08):
of food.
I am not a registered dietitian.
Therefore, I do not and havenever put people on eating plans
.
Your body deserves expertguidance and care.
That's all part of buildingyour support team.
(08:29):
Your support team matters.
It matters who you surroundyourself with.
That includes the medicalprofessionals, your loved ones,
individuals who are going tolisten to you, respect your
concerns and collaborate on apersonalized treatment plan.
(08:51):
Consider integratingconventional oncology with
holistic practices, acombination of medical
treatments, nutrition therapy,stress management.
It really creates a verycomprehensive approach that
addresses your body, your mindand your spirit, really really
(09:18):
important.
Medicine and holistic care arenot mutually exclusive.
They are all one of the same.
Unfortunately, most of the timein the United States we're
having to seek two separateindividuals.
(09:39):
We have our conventionaloncology and then individuals
with holistic practices, and Iwish that they weren't two
separate things in most cases.
But it's all encompassing andit all matters because it really
does address your total thebody, the mind and the spirit
(10:02):
and you have to be an activeparticipant in creating a
healing environment.
You have to take an active rolein your care, understand your
treatment options, ask questions, ensure that the plan aligns
(10:23):
with your values, speak up,because it is your journey and
your voice matters.
Cultivate a healing environment, surround yourself with
positive, supportive people andfoster a mental space filled
with hope and resilience.
(10:44):
And discovering that innerresilience is one of the most
valuable and important parts ofthis entire journey, for more, I
think, than if I had not everbeen on this journey.
(11:16):
I think that adversity oftenreveals strength that we didn't
know we had.
Reflect on your past, embraceyour resilience, focus on what's
possible.
A positive outlook fosters hopeand it really does enhance your
(11:36):
quality of life, even duringthe toughest of times, you're
not alone on this journey.
I think that with proactiveinvolvement, the right support
and a focus on healing insideand out, you get to reclaim
(11:59):
control of your life, stayempowered, stay informed and,
above all, stay committed toreclaiming your power.
And if you're not sure, pleasereach out to me.
