Welcome to another episode of Engineer Innovation— a podcast for engineers, by engineers. Because we all want to build a better tomorrow, faster.  One of the main differences between combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles is the level of noise generated. Combustion engines are loud while the latter is very quiet. While the lack of noise can be interpreted as a benefit, it also presents a few problems. First, it makes the vehicle unsafe to other road users who rely on vehicle sounds to understand the speed and direction of movement. It also unmasks other noises such as the aircon and motor thumping noises that are masked by engine noise in combustion vehicles. This is why noise testing is an important concept in electric vehicles. It allows OEMs to understand how they can reduce unnecessary noise and introduce active noise for safety and comfort purposes. Join us as we discuss the importance of noise testing in electric vehicle development. In this episode, you will learn: Katleen’s view on electric cars (04:00) What testing electric vehicles entails (05:48) Differences between combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles (08:10) The most common misunderstanding about vehicle testing (11:05) The importance of active sound in electric vehicles (14:45)

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
