Shake up the snow globe, find the others, and embrace the flow of psychedelic experience during this conversation with Portland Psychedelic Society Executive Director, Max Kelemen.
Max’s professional foundation is rooted in the non-profit sector: trained in leadership, ethics, policy reform, and facilitation with a Master’s in Public Administration. As a proponent of experiential learning through group dynamics and outdoor adventure, he has worked as a guide, facilitator, and administrator for organizations like: the Northwest Outward Bound School, SOS Outreach, and New Vision Wilderness. Through these roles, he has developed skills that weave together a unique offering of mind-body-spirit practices that empower individuals and groups to cultivate greater awareness, resilience, and compassion in their lives. In other roles in the non-profit sector, he has participated in the policy reform process with topics concerned with public education, poverty/hunger relief, and ending the war on drugs.
Since moving to Portland in 2017, Max has become more outspoken and involved with the re-emerging psychedelic movement. He is an advocate for wider acceptance, support, and policy reform to provide safe guidance with these medicines within our communities. He has previously served on the board of directors, in the president role, and currently as the Executive Director for the Portland Psychedelic Society advocating for a safe, connected, creative, and a well-healed psychedelic community.
