The Object Relations or Harmony Groups were developed in part by Dr. David Daniels and Riso & Hudson to help us understand how we relate to, connect with, and engage with the world. An object relation is how we influence or are influenced by something/someone else. It is how we express ourselves through other people/things as an expression of a particular parental wound. In this episode, we discuss The Frustration Triad (Idealists/Utopians)
The Frustration Group is composed of Types 1, 4, and 7. Each has an idea of how the world should be (and gets frustrated when it isn't). Those with the frustration object relation know what will make them happy, but they feel they seldom get it. They tend to become disillusioned with their happiness once they have discovered it. Consequently, they become frustrated as they begin their search again. Their sense of self is based on the pursuit of an ideal. There is contentment in accepting one's present situation and finding beauty, perfection, and freedom in what is.
