Speaker 1 (00:00):
And I'll end with
this and say you know, when I
got started, my goal is verysimple Like I wanted to make
$100 a day working online and Ididn't even know if it was
possible because I had neverdone it before.
Right, and I took some actionand I started to figure some
things out.
And then I started making moneyonline and that reinforced oh
wow, this might be possible.
(00:21):
And then, little by little,it's like you don't have to see
the road Right, this might bepossible.
And then, little by little,it's like you don't have to see
the road right.
You and I can drive at nightbecause we have lights that
project a few hundred feet infront of us, and we can drive
across the country just simplyby being able to see a few
hundred feet in front of us.
And so don't think that youhave to believe that everything
is going to be possible today.
You just have to believe enoughto get started.
(00:43):
And then, as you get started, you'll start to be able to
project that belief a little bitfarther and a little bit
farther.
You don't have to believe theentire thing to get started, but
you do have to get started forthat belief to continue to keep
building.
I won't waste another minute.
No, I won't.
(01:04):
I'm a man on a mission.
I'm a man on a mission.
I don't need no permission.
I'm a man on a mission.
Welcome to Entitled to Nothing.
Where we believe our life isour fault.
(01:24):
My name is Mink and today we'regoing to talk about seven
success superpowers.
Unfortunately, we're nevergoing to wield the power of Thor
or soar like Superman, but ifyou embrace these seven
superpowers, you might justbecome as successful as Bruce
Wayne, so you can just becomeyour own superhero.
Now, when you think ofsuperpowers, right, obviously,
(01:46):
in the world we live in, youknow there's all these
superheroes and characters andmovies, but I think there is
real life superpowers that wecan develop in our life.
And some of you guys might bethinking well, fame is a
superpower or fortune is asuperpower.
Right, I think some peoplemight think faith is a
superpower, the ability tobelieve in something that you
(02:07):
don't see, and I would.
I would actually disagree.
I don't think these aresuperpowers as much as they are
the results of having certainsuperpowers.
You guys have heard me talkabout this before.
There's three things that createthe success that we have in
life.
The first one is the skillsthat we have, and I believe
(02:27):
there's very specific skillsthat you could develop that give
you a superpower-like ability.
Maybe you're a geniusprogrammer or a genius trader,
or you can sell anything toanyone, right?
There's skills that we cancreate that are superpowers.
There's also character traitswho we are and the way that our
personality is expressed can bea superpower If you have the
(02:52):
discipline or the well, let menot jump the gun, because we're
going to get into that in aminute.
And then the third one isbeliefs, right?
So if we have unwavering beliefin ourself, I believe that can
be a superpower as well.
And so when I think aboutdeconstructing the success or
(03:12):
the results that we have, ultimately there is ingredients
that a certain individualpossesses that help them get the
end result, and that end resultis the fame or the fortune or
the faith that you might have, and I like to call those the
three Fs, right?
But today, what we're going totalk about specifically is
character traits, because Ibelieve the skills that you want
(03:34):
are created by the charactertraits that you have.
And, of course, we have to havebelief, and that's actually
what I believe is the number onesuperpower that you must have
for success is self-belief.
I've talked about this inprevious episodes, but I believe
the biggest mistake I've evermade in my life is just simply
(03:55):
not believing in myself, and Ithink that's probably the number
one mistake that most of usmake.
You know, we're all going to gothrough situations and
circumstances, failures.
We're all going to go throughsituations and circumstances,
failures.
We're going to fall down, andthere's going to be times in our
life where we don't have anyreference points for the belief
or for the things that we'retrying to create.
(04:16):
And I think one of the mostdifficult things we will do in
life is believe when we don'thave any reason to.
And you know, one of my favoriteexperiences that I've had was
when I was traveling in Thailand, and I've told this story a few
times before, but if you'venever heard it, I'll give you
the short version.
I was in Thailand and I wasdriving a scooter through the
jungle.
I came around a corner andthere was this big elephant
(04:38):
standing in the middle of theroad.
And what was crazy about thisexperience was the elephant was
being walked on a leash, and Iremember thinking how the fuck
do you walk an elephant on aleash?
Anyways, like I was mesmerizedby the whole thing.
Being from america, obviously,we don't have elephants just
walking around on a leash here.
So I pulled over and I got mycell phone out and I was taking
(05:00):
a picture and the guy that was,uh, the keeper of the elephant,
if you will.
He called me over and he's likehey, do you want a picture?
And the guy that was the keeperof the elephant, if you will.
He called me over and he's likehey, do you want a picture?
So I stand next to the elephant, he takes a picture and I ask
him I said how is it that youcan walk an elephant on a leash?
And he tells me the story abouthow they train elephants and he
(05:21):
says when the elephant is justa baby, we tie this giant chain
around its ankle and we stake itto the ground.
And the elephant pulls and itpulls, and it pulls to try to
get away.
And it never can because atthis stage in its life it's not
strong enough to rip the stakeout of the ground.
And what happens is thatelephant gets conditioned to
(05:42):
believe that whenever there'ssomething wrapped around its
ankle it can never get away.
And so now, all these yearslater, when it's this full grown
male, all I have to do is wrapthis leash around its ankle and
I can walk it like a dog.
And in the moment I was likethat's freaking crazy, like wow,
(06:04):
um, who would have thought?
Like I didn't know.
And then I got back on myscooter and I was driving back
to my house thinking about whathe told me and I started to get
emotional because I realized weare just like that elephant.
We all have chains that we'vewrapped around ourselves that
hold us back and that stop usfrom achieving the results, the
(06:26):
life, the relationships, fromachieving the results, the life,
the relationships, theexperiences that we want.
And ultimately, we havewillingly allowed those chains
to be wrapped around us becausewe have adopted those beliefs as
true.
A belief is nothing more thansomething that we adopt as fact
(06:48):
or that we accept, and so we allhave limiting beliefs.
That's part of the humanexperience and that's why I
think, ultimately, the beliefthat we have creates the
potential that is inside of us,and the potential that we have
causes us to take action.
The more action we take, themore results we create, and the
more results we create, the morereferences we now have to
(07:09):
reinforce the belief.
And so I think all of thesuccess that we have or don't
have starts with belief.
And for me in my life, thenumber one superpower that I
believe we can adopt, we cancreate, we can condition is
self-belief, and there's avariety of ways that we can do
that.
I'm not going to get into thatso much today, but what I will
(07:32):
tell you is this the life thatyou want is on the other side of
the belief that it's possible.
You will never create more thanyou believe you can.
You will never have arelationship that you don't
believe you deserve.
You will never have the successthat you don't believe you
deserve.
And so to create more in life,I believe the foundation is
(07:53):
belief.
You may have heard me say thisbefore, but I believe the dreams
that we have are built on thefoundation of belief.
And so when we think about whatcharacter traits do we really
need to have, it's self-belief.
And then that goes into kind ofthat third part right, you have
character traits and you havebeliefs.
That third part is like what dowe believe about life, about
(08:14):
opportunities, situations,circumstances, et cetera?
But it starts with believingwhat's possible for you.
And I'll end with this and sayyou know, when I got started, my
goal was very simple, like Iwanted to make a hundred dollars
a day working online and Ididn't even know if it was
possible.
Could I?
Cause I had never done itbefore, right, and I took some
(08:36):
action and I started to figuresome things out.
And then I started making moneyonline and that reinforced oh
wow, this might be possible.
And then, little by little,it's like you don't have to see
the road, right, you and I candrive at night because we have
lights that project a fewhundred feet in front of us and
we can drive across the countryjust simply by being able to see
(08:57):
a few hundred feet in front ofus.
And so don't think that youhave to believe that everything
is going to be possible today.
You just have to believe enoughto get started.
And then, as you get started, you'll start to be able to
project that belief a little bitfarther and a little bit
farther.
You don't have to believe theentire thing to get started, but
(09:17):
you do have to get started forthat belief to continue to keep
building.
Okay, number two is discipline.
I think discipline is asuperpower in the world that we
live in today, right, we havemore options, more choices, more
variety than we've ever had atany point in time in our life,
(09:38):
and the truth is being able tohave the discipline to do what
you said you would do,regardless of how you feel.
This morning I was watchingsome videos to get ready to
create content today, and, overand over and over again, I saw
athletes and entrepreneurs, someof the best of the best, and
(09:58):
they were all saying the samething Fuck your feelings, fuck
how you feel in the moment.
You just have to do what youknow you need to do.
You have to have the mentaldiscipline, the fortitude and
the commitment to just takeaction.
And there's this idea of, likeyou know, amateurs rely on
(10:19):
motivation, but motivation is anemotion.
It's up and down, it's up anddown, it's up and down.
And maybe you're the type ofperson at this point in your
life where, when you feel reallymotivated, you take a lot of
action, but then, like anyemotion, motivation fades over
time and then you're left takingno action, and so you have
(10:41):
execution, no execution, execution, no execution, while
someone like me, who has createdthe discipline to take action
every day, regardless how I feel, ultimately I'm going to win
because I don't stop, because Ikeep moving forward, regardless
how I feel and I would say, ifyou're not creating the results
(11:01):
that you want.
After self-belief, discipline isthe second most important thing
, and the only way I know how tobuild discipline is to do
things that I don't necessarilywant to do or to force myself to
go out of the way to do certainthings.
That's why I have an ice bathat my house and I do it every
morning.
I don't do it for any otherreason than it fucking sucks,
(11:23):
and I know.
If I force myself to dosomething every day that I don't
want to do, I developdiscipline and that discipline
carries to do.
I develop discipline and thatdiscipline carries to every area
of my life.
When I was growing up,basketball was my life and I
remember my high school coachused to tell us how you do some
things is how you do everything, and at the time you know young,
(11:45):
naive high school age, anthony,he thought that was a bullshit.
He didn't agree.
But all these years later Irealized how true he was.
When I'm more disciplined withmy fitness, I'm more disciplined
in work.
When I'm more disciplined withmy diet, I'm more disciplined at
night with watching TV orreading, or not doing or going
to bed.
So you guys know whatdiscipline is.
(12:06):
You don't need me to talk aboutit anymore.
If you want more results, youneed more discipline.
Number three is patience.
We live in a world of instantgratification, right?
Everyone is trying to sell usthe life hack, the shortcut, the
easy button there is an app forthat and you have more options
(12:27):
than you want but ultimately,it's the patience that is going
to get us where we want.
I think we fall prey toshort-term pleasure today
instead of long-term purposetomorrow, and ultimately, I
don't believe that those twothings can coexist.
(12:49):
I don't believe that we canseek short-term pleasure while
also creating long-termfulfillment, and I can tell you
from experience very painfulexperience that all of my
biggest failures in life havecome because of the need of
instant gratification.
When I started my first business, I went bankrupt trying to
(13:10):
create a done for you systemthat promised easy money.
I spent all this money buyingthese coaches and programs and
things.
None of it worked.
Years later, I lost six figuresinvesting into crypto because I
got caught up in the hype.
I thought I can make easy money.
I put, you know 10 grand overhere and I started making a
couple hundred dollars a dayjust off of it and I was like
(13:31):
shit, well, what if I put ahundred thousand dollars over
here?
A couple hundred dollars a daywould be a couple thousand
dollars a day.
So I put a couple hundredthousand dollars into it and it
went to zero.
So the need for fast results hasled to most of the pain and
failure in my life, and the onething that I can tell you for
(13:54):
sure is having the patience tobuild the foundation for the
long term is the single thingthat I'm most proud of.
Just a few weeks ago, I gotback from a trip to Hawaii where
I had the opportunity to rent aplace that's really a dream
house for me, and I rememberjust sitting here thinking how
did I get here?
And the answer was I had thepatience to take action every
(14:17):
day and just not quit and knowthat something worth building is
going to take time.
You know it's like good thingstake time and great things they
take a little longer.
So if you want to createsomething great, if you want to
create a great character, if youwant to create a great body, a
(14:38):
great relationship a greatbusiness.
It takes time and have thepatience to see it through On
the back of patience.
The fourth superpower that Ibelieve we need to have more
success in our life is focus.
Again, we need discipline, weneed patience and we need focus,
(14:59):
and I think the three of thesereally come together.
And if you can bring the threeof these together, I really
believe you can create anything, because, again, we've got more
distractions, more variety, moreopportunity than ever.
But if you can stay focused, ifyou can more distractions, more
variety, more opportunity thanever but if you can stay focused
, if you can stay consistent, Ireally think you can create what
you want.
And a great example of this isSteph Curry.
He's become one of the greatestshooters in NBA history and
(15:22):
it's well documented that hegoes to the gym every day and
shoots a minimum of 500 formshots.
And now I don't know if you'veever shot a form shot before,
but it is literally standingbetween two to 10 feet from the
basket with the ball andshooting hundreds and hundreds
of shots, point blank, workingon nothing but your form.
(15:44):
And one of the things he wassaying in this video that I
watched is you should shootthese form shots so many fucking
times that it gets as close toperfect as humanly possible.
Now that's not fun.
What's more fun is pickup games, one-on-one talking, trash
going up and down, right.
But he has the focus to do theform shooting every day without
(16:10):
fail the consistency to make ithappen, and so, over the course
of a lifetime no-transcript he'sthe number one three-point
shooter that has ever existed, and I think it's because he had
the discipline to do it everyday.
He had the patience to focus onit and the focus to stay there
(16:30):
and to do it All right.
Number five is you have to beable to create a compelling
vision for what you want yourlife to look like.
Simply put, if you don't knowwhat your destination is, if you
don't know what you want tocreate, then any road will take
you anywhere, right.
But if you can have acompelling vision, if you can
(16:51):
have the courage to dream andreally visualize what you want
and why you want it, and you cancast that vision forward and
then tell people one day, mylife is gonna look like this.
One day, our family is gonnalive here.
One day we're going toexperience, insert whatever you
want, right.
That is the foundation ofactually starting to create
(17:13):
something.
And there is magic invisualization, in putting your
mind in a future state andowning it as a present fact.
And there's actually real datato support this.
And there's a study I love beinga basketball guy.
Right, they did a study inbasketball and what they did is
they took three groups of people.
(17:34):
Group a they had shoot whateverit was a hundred, a hundred
free throws and found theirbaseline.
Then they had group B shoot ahundred.
And group C C shoot a hundredand group C shoot a hundred.
So they all figured out whattheir shooting percentage was.
And then here's what they did.
They said group A you have toshoot a hundred shots every
single day, practicing freethrows.
(17:54):
Group B you can't even touch abasketball.
And group C you can't touch abasketball but you have to
visualize shooting those 100shots and making it every time.
So they did this for a monthand they came back and they
tested everybody's shootingpercentage again and what they
found was incredible.
So the guys that practicedevery day, of course, they got
(18:18):
better.
In fact, their shootingpercentage increased by about
22-23%.
The people that didn't shoot atall pretty self-explanatory.
Their shooting percentage wentdown.
But what was incredible is theguys that simply visualized
making shots every single day.
Their shooting percentage wentup almost 20%, which means they
(18:39):
almost improved as much as thepeople that took action every
day.
They almost improved as much asthe people that took action
every day.
There is this real power invisualization, in creating a
vision and casting it forwardand believing that it's possible
.
That's what I did all thoseyears ago, and everybody that I
know that's had success has donethe same thing right, and so I
(19:00):
think that having the ability tosit down, close your eyes and
visualize what you want yourlife to be like, and if you can
do that day in and day out, itbecomes a superpower and before
you know it, you are living thevision that you used to
visualize, and I can say thatbecause I'm living it today.
(19:20):
When I got started 14 years ago, I had one goal I wanted to
make enough money to live on thebeach, and I worked my ass off
for two or three yearsvisualizing that idea every day,
and I spent seven yearstraveling the world, living all
over the place and living on thebeach, and then, somewhere
along the way, I was like I wantto be the CEO of a multimillion
(19:42):
dollar company.
I want to be the CEO of amulti-million dollar company.
I want to be a million dollarCEO.
And then I made it happen.
And then I kept upping the anteand raising the stakes and
visualizing more.
So I know it works, I know it'sa superpower and I wanted to
share it with you, because Idon't think there's anything
more simple or powerful thanjust sitting your ass down every
(20:04):
day and visualizing what youwant your life to look like in
three years, five years, 10years, 30 years.
If you can do that, you havethe power to create it.
Number six you have to commit toconstant and never-ending
improvement.
If you can get better everysingle day, if you can master
(20:25):
your craft, whatever, that isright.
In the beginning I said thereare certain skills that are
superpowers.
If you can work on improvingthose skills every single day,
on embodying these charactertraits every single day, right,
you can create anything and atthe end of the day, we get what
we earn.
In life.
We don't get what we want, weget what we earn and we get who
(20:51):
we are, and the way that youcreate that individual is
constant and never endingimprovement, and so I think it's
imperative for us as men and asindividuals to say what do I
want to create in my life?
What skills do I need?
Who do I have to become?
And then you have a constantand never ending commitment to
improve.
And if you can do that, if youcan just get a little bit better
(21:13):
every single day, the compoundgrowth over time is
extraordinary.
I have a poster in my office andit's to remind me of the power
of compound growth.
Because it's so abstract, ourmind really has a hard time
understanding what it means, andso this poster.
It is an illustration of whathappens when you double the
(21:37):
number one every day for 30 days.
So it starts at day one, oneand then two, and then four, and
then eight, and then 16, andthen 32.
And after 20 to 25 days youdon't really have a big number,
but by day 30, it's over 500million, 500 million.
(22:03):
So one doubled every day for 30days is 500 million.
Every time I say that, everytime I see it, it reminds me
that if I never give up, if Ijust keep moving forward, if I
just get a little bit betterevery day, I just keep moving
(22:25):
forward if I just get a littlebit better every day.
It is literally impossible forme to fail, and so just make the
commitment to get better everyday and it will become
impossible for you to fail, allright.
Number seven, quite simply, isjust never fucking quit.
Right, if you can make thecommitment to never give up, to
(22:45):
never give in, to keep movingforward every day and master
these seven superpowers, if youcan adopt these character traits
into your life and never, everquit, be the type of person that
doesn't give up, no matter howhard it is, no matter how much
you don't want to do it, justkeep moving forward, then that's
(23:07):
enough and you will win therace, you will get where you're
going and you will be able tocreate life on your terms.
All those years ago, when I gotstarted, I had one goal and it
was to create life on my terms, whatever that looked like, and I
think that that is ultimatelythe purpose of life for each of
us.
You know, there's this idea ofwhat's the purpose of life.
Well, let me tell you what thepurpose of life is.
(23:32):
That sounds ridiculous becauseI don't know if I'm right or not
, but I know what's right for meand what I believe is the
purpose of life is to live lifeon our terms, to find a mission
to serve, to find a community tobe a part of, to create a
family to love and, ultimately,to find work that we love doing.
(23:56):
I think our love and our laborare critical in life and I think
that, ultimately, that's whatthe purpose of life is for me
and if you can embody thesecharacter traits I know you've
all heard them before.
I haven't told you anythingtoday that is new, but I hope
what I did do today is maybeinspire you to to recommit to
(24:19):
embodying some of these, torecommit to doing some of the
things that you know you need todo but you found excuses not to
do.
If you want more success inyour life, I think you need to
start with the character traitsthat are going to get you there,
because you never have a howproblem.
It's always a who problem.
(24:42):
Who do you need to be to createthe results that you want?
If you can answer that question, then you can have the results.
With that said, guys, I trulyappreciate you hanging out with
me today.
If you've made it this far, Ijust wanna thank you for
spending this time with megiving me your attention, and
the only thing I would ever askis if you got value from this
(25:03):
show.
No-transcript.
