supplementation to cope with the challenges that each stage of
life brings. I am Gilliermrico, veterinarian and animal expert. Welcome

Welcome back to inter Animalists with the Germorico by pet
Life Radio. Skin is the biggest organ in all mammals.
It is not just a natural barrier, it is also
the support of many biological functions. Hence, its metabolic activity
(02:35):
suggests high physiological requirements, especially those related with proteins and
other kinds of nutrients. There are plenty of skin diseases
in dogs and cats associated with dietary deficiencies or malabsorption
(02:55):
of nutrients. This is why changes in the diet aatary
composition and food quality will show up in the skin
and four of pats. Different dietary factors, such as nutritional deficiencies, supplementation,
and sensitivity to some type of food may play a
(03:18):
key role in the etiology and treatment of skin diseases.
Thanks to the market offer of balanced food for feeding
dogs and cats, nutritional deficiencies are rare today. Nowadays, due
to science development, this type of food meets the nutritional
(03:40):
requirements of each of these species. However, these deficiencies could
be presented if the size of the food ration decreases,
if the diet is poorly formulated, if the food storage
is poor, or when there is a gastrium testinal absorption problem.
(04:00):
In general, symptoms will become evident if the nutritional problem
persists for several months. Although there are plenty of clinical signs,
most of them are associated with skin disease. As I
mentioned before, food deficiencies of essential fatty acids are not common,
(04:23):
but occasionally may arise in dogs and cats that are
poorly fed with low quality or poorly formulated food, for example,
on made food. Skin clinical signs can appear between two
to three months after eating poorly. In these cases at
(04:43):
the beginning and as a consequence of a poor production
of lipids on the surface of the skin, a dry
and a pequ coat can be evidenced if nutritional deficiency continues.
One of the most common diet diagnosed signs is siberia,
which is characterized by abnormalities in the production of fats
(05:07):
in the skin and or characterization. Classic signs of nutritional
dermatosis also include excessive scaling everythma, alopecia, greasy hair, especially
on the pinna and between the fingers, and poor her growth.
This can even be seen accompanied by secondary pioderma and providers.
(05:31):
In short, skin problems are one of the main ailments
of dogs and cats. To manage them, it is important
to assure the correct food and adequate supplementation. Well after
this introduction in pet skin diseases, let's talk about superfood
(05:52):
and strategic supplementation, but this will be after these messages
from our sponsors.

Supplementation with essential fatty acids has shown to be beneficial
in small animals in the treatment of skin problems and
even as part of palliative treatment in other types of ailments,
such as chronic inflammatory diseases, kidney disease, and some types
of cancer. For example, in cats with eosinophilic dermatosis and grandlomas,
(07:28):
a good response to cut oil supplementation has been observed
to promote skin conditions. Similarly, it has been determined that
supplementation with polyunsaturated fatty acids reduces the presentation of purietus
in cats. Other studies have verified that Omega III, a
(07:49):
type of polyunsaturated fatty acid, supplementation in cats with non
purietic dermatitis has led to the complete disappearance of medical science. Additionally,
commercial dog diets supplemented with linoleagu acid and zinc can
produce significant improvements in skin and cold conditions in ducts.
(08:14):
Similar positive facts have been seen after Omega three supplementation
impregnant beaches and queens and in newborns. In addition, numerous
studies have established that essential fatty acids such as Omega three, six,
and nine, as well as alo vera and the nutrasurticals
(08:35):
condroiding and glucosamine, are of great help in senior dogs
with joined and amine problems. In recent years, several veterinary
nutritionists have incorporated a new term, super foods. These are
foods with proven and differential benefits for the health and
(08:57):
well being. Effects of studies have determined that these superfoods
help fight disease, maintain healthy skin and a shiny coat,
improve digestion, strengthen bones and joints, boost the immune system,
promote longevity, provide greater energy, and maintain overall health. It
(09:21):
is for this reason that many of these superfoods have
been progressively introduced into the formulation of nutritional supplements for pets.
They make great additions to your dogs and cats diet,
whether you feed them packaged pet food or home cooked meals.
(09:41):
Just be sure to introduce these foods gradually and improper
proportions and run them by your veat first. If your
fat has any dietary or health issues. But what you
must be asking for examples of superfoods that you can
offer your pet jump down. Take note. Superfoods are kale, carrots, fish, norri, sasha,
(10:09):
inchy oil, cut oil, chia seeds, quinua, yogurt, alo vera,
and blueberries. Just seek for the advice of your veterinarian
to start a strategic supplementation in your pet with superfoods. Well,
I am out of time, so I would like to
