No Setembro Amarelo tem tanta gente falando sobre suicídio que é sempre difícil trazermos alguma informação nova. Mas no episódio deste mês, sobre suicídio entre adolescentes, a psiquiatra geral e da infância e adolescência Jordana Verano destacou um ponto interessante que não vemos muito.
Quando pensamos em prevenção do suicídio, sempre imaginamos alguém à beira de uma tentativa. Tentar captar sinais, como se comunicar com a pessoa, como levá-la à ajuda profissional, coisas assim. Tudo isso é importante, mas precisamos ter em mente que muitas das medidas protetoras não são diretamente ligadas ao suicídio.
Tratar abusos e maus tratos, saber que temos com quem contar, ter acesso a tratamentos de saúde mental, não sofrer discriminação, ter recursos para viver com dignidade são fatores que podem se apresentar ao longo de toda uma vida. É a sua persistência e o não tratamento que podem levar a um desfecho extremo.
