Does the Bible ever feel distant from real life? In this Faith Fuel episode, discover how keeping God—not yourself—at the center turns reading into living. Using the book of James, we draw the line between faith and works: grace saves, but living faith moves. Learn to read with context, apply small steps, and trust God for lasting change—because one faithful move beats a shelf full of notes.

SPEAKER_00 (00:00):
This is Equip the Next, and you're listening to
Faith Fuel, quick encouragementfor bold living.
Ever feel like the Bible doesn'tconnect to real life?
You don't want to miss this.

(00:45):
So if you are new, welcome.
I'm just gonna get right to it.
You know, the book of James isall about lived out faith.
Because God doesn't just wantyou to hear his word, he wants
you to apply it.

(01:08):
The smallest obedience is betterthan knowing obedience.
And so I wanted to encourageyou.
We're going to kind of go overthe book of James this
Wednesday.
So stay tuned for that.
Hopefully, you have subscribedso that you can get updated and

(01:29):
get the little mini emails thatwe send out.
But I just wanted to encourageyou that though the Bible is not
about us, we've alreadyestablished that.
If you've been listening to mefor some time, it's about God,
it's about Jesus.
But sometimes there can feellike a disconnect.

(01:50):
You can be like, what does thishave to do with me?
It has everything to do with youbecause Jesus died for you.
It's just like if you're in arelationship with somebody, you
want to know everything aboutthem.
You don't want to just hearother people talking about them.
You want to know who he is.
It safeguards you, it protectsyou from faulty thinking and

(02:12):
false teachers and being a partof things that I mean, I've I've
seen so many people that havebeen a part of cult-like
behavior because they justsimply didn't know the word for
themselves.
They didn't know that they couldlearn the word for themselves.
But you can.
So if you feel like it doesn'tconnect to your real life, I

(02:35):
want you to first read it incontext, understand the book,
the author, who it's about.
And then when you're going inthe application process, look at
it from a lens of how does thisscripture relate to me in light
of who God is?

(02:55):
Take yourself out of theequation.
It will free you up.
It will allow you to take thechains and the binds and the
bondage off, thinking that youhad to live up to something that
you can never live up to.
Because it's faith.
It has to do with faith.
That's where your salvationcomes.
It has nothing to do with works.

(03:18):
But when you have the faith andyou do believe, then it will
transform you.
His word will transform you.
So you know how it goes.
Faith fuel, it's it's quick,it's easy, and that's all I got
for you today.
But remember, grow in God's wordand lead boldly.
