Eight of Swords

Welcome to season 8 of this podcast, where I am talking all about the Suit of Swords. I’ll be going through each card in the suit, one per episode.

What we explore in this episode:

  • The Eight of Swords as a card of fear, paralysis, and self-imposed restriction

  • Symbolism across decks: ropes, mirrored blades, blindfolds, darkness, and isolation

  • Why this card often asks us to examine the stories we’ve internalized about our worth

  • How overthinking, shame, and outdated beliefs create cages we can’t see

  • The quiet, radical power of reclaiming agency and moving toward freedom

Pictures from the decks I talked about today referenced from left to right:

In this episode, I dive deep into the Eight of Swords as a card of self-imposed limitations. Whether the ropes are made of fear, perfectionism, shame, or outdated beliefs, the message is clear: we have the power to untie ourselves.

This is a card about mental prisons—patterns that feel like protection but often come at the cost of movement, joy, or connection. Sometimes, the hardest part of liberation is admitting we're already holding the key.

Today's Tarot Pull:

From The Citadel: A Fantasy Oracle by Fen Inkwright, I pulled The Witch (upright). This card represents experimentation and rebellion. It asks us to break free of rules and traditions that were never made with us in mind. It calls us to reimagine how we move through the world, not from fear or convention, but from possibility and creative alignment.

The Witch encourages us to think for ourselves, shake up what feels rigid, and give ourselves permission to be wild, curious, and true.

Reflective prompts on this card:

  • Where am I ready to break free from outdated beliefs or systems?

  • What would rebellion look like in the context of my healing?

  • What experiment can I try this week to honor my truest self?

Boysober

Boysober

Have you ever wondered what life might be like if you stopped worrying about being wanted, and focused on understanding what you actually want? That was the question Hope Woodard asked herself after a string of situationships inspired her to take a break from sex and dating. She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Now, Hope is looking to expand the ways we explore our relationship to relationships. Taking a bold, unfiltered look into modern love, romance, and self-discovery, Boysober will dive into messy stories about dating, sex, love, friendship, and breaking generational patterns—all with humor, vulnerability, and a fresh perspective.
